Did a lot of running this afternoon but didn't get as much done as we wanted. We checked out some mattresses and mattress toppers to put in the 5th wheel..Didn't decide on any one just yet.

Got the garage organized enough that we were able to finally get my car in the garage tonight. The truck topper is hanging from the ceiling over my car! Please don't let the hooks give out!! LOL!!

Marie-- Happy Anniversary! 29 years huh! Congrats to you both! If we had taken a break we would have been married 42 years this year! Gosh I feel old! Enjoy those steaks!

Well, I'm really kind of tired-- think I will probably TRY to make this an early night. Actually anything before midnight is an early night for me!

Catch you all later

Hello Goldens!

I thought that I would stop in here for a little bit and say hello. Tomorrow is a really busy day and then I leave for the airport on wed at 0430. Why did I pick such an early flight???

My rv was delivered tonight and it was really hard to just leave it alone. I wanted to experiment and get it all set up. It will have to wait til I get back.

Mary, I went back to that link - on ebay and I couldn't get it to work tonight. The product is "awaken" sugar scrub by arbonne. Really nice stuff. I got some for my mom for mothers day.

Donna, see travel plans above. You are a really good daughter!

Marie, and Happy Anniversary! I hope you had a great day!

Isabella, So sorry about your BIL. I will have hope for him.

karen, still laughing about your girls, and also how they like it when the foo foo smell goes away!

Carol, you have been through a lot physically and you will get back on track soon.

Sorry, I am very tired and need to get some rest. If I don't make it back tomorrow - next posts from Vegas!

HELLO CC's

I do hope everyone is doing well.

Is anyone having a second window opening up? Its Toyota, and it seems like i can not move from one side to the other without this window opening. It's driving my nuts.

Have a bright and healthy day.

Isabella - I will keep your BIL in my prayers. It is so hard to get that kind of diagnosis. We will be optomistic and hope for a cure!

Marie...Happy Anniversary! I thought of you when we put our scrabble game away for the summer. DH is so pokey in making his moves. I don't have time to play with DD anymore either, summers have too many outdoor activities to do. How is your quilt coming?
Isabella...sad news of your BIL, had he been ill? Sometimes those things just sneak up on you really fast without an inkling of what's to come.
Debbie...can you unsubscribe that toyota link?
Rie...good luck on your Vagas trip.
be back later to do more personals, gotta get my cake finished and to the church at 9am. It's after 8 right now and I haven't showered yet.

Good Morning Girls,

I worked the weekend and yesterday I was just tired. I didn't do much, and what I did was slow and easy. Much better today. The weekend was full moon and the crazies were out. We had to call security because a nurse was being threatened. Went to DGD's soccer game last night. She's been on the same team so long we know all the people and it's nice to see them all again after being off all winter. Not much going on today. Laundry, out to lunch with a bunch of girls from work. One of the doc's is opening a restuarant and he invited us all over to try it out. It's Lebanese so it should be interesting.

Gail, I hate it when the state inspectors come. Management goes nuts. I hope your sil gets a job near you. I know how much you would miss them and especially Miss Maddie.

Donna, How is your hand? All the swelling gone down yet? finished the antibiotics?

Isabella, sorry to hear about your BIl. I hope things go well for him. fortunateally, lukemia is usually one of the sucessfully treated CA's. We just got some bad news from my brother too. His PSA is really elevated and we're all really concerned. They put him on antibiotics, hoping it's just and infection. In a month we should know something. Waiting is the pits! But our prayer chain is very large, so lots of prayers going out for him.

Carol Sue, Slow and easy is the way to go, always. If you over do you will be so sore and stiff that you won't continue. How are the "holes". Have they totally filled in? I guess I missed the up-date.

Rie, Have a good trip. And lots of luck. We know you have the talent, but sometimes it comes down to luck too. I try to do some pampering occasionally too. Love the body scrubs. How fun to play with your new toy. It will make camping so much easier.

Marie, Happy Anniversary! My husband always prefers to eat at home too. He just doesn't enjoy going out for dinner.

Rosie, So happy to hear that your SIl got a job. I know you're relieved.

Bobbi, I'm not polish, the one nationality I think was skipped. I'm truly a mut. But we have a huge polish population here. I'm always surprised to see these little old ladies come in that have been here for years and never learned to speak English. They settled into a Polish neighborhood and everything was polish and the husbands learned to speak English.

Karen, My Benny Dog hates being groomed. I've told the groomer to not even bother putting a scarf on him, he will roll on the floor untill he gets it off as soon as he comes home. And he goes outside and rolls in the grass to get the fru fru smell off him too.

Lynn, I always snack in the evening. We eat dinner too early, a habit from when DH was still working, and just haven't changed it. I try to keep snacks to around 200 calories, try to include some protein. cereal and milk, pudding and whipped cream. peanut butter on toast.

Cindy, I find that exercise gives me energy. I don't eat a lot of sugar either.

Everyone, have a good day

I did 30 minutes on the Wii in later afternoon. It actually went quickly and it was fun. Later supper and no desert. Yeah!

I'm back from delivering the cake. I put all the drained pineapple juice in the yellow cake mix instead of the water, topped the cake with the crushed pineapple and cool whip. I took a 1/2" square out of the corner to see if the texture turned out okay, it did. I confessed to the gal at church so she can even out the corner piece.
Gayle...good job on resisting the jelly beans.
We went thru many bags of them over Easter and the calories aren't really that bad if you count them out.

Quote:
I had a small NSV ~ had my hands on a bag of jelly beans, but didn’t eat any and put them back
Mary...I loved the 7 minute frosting too and much cheaper to make. I should have gone that route since I'm on a tight wad binge. Cake mix + large vanilla pudding + crushed pineapple + cool whip. Putting it in print just woke me up, I'm not going to do that again. Well.....for my family I would but not for funerals of people I don't know that well.
Donna...Yes, DH says and acts like he's on the band wagon but I don't trust him any farther than I could throw him. Since our credit card isn't being used anymore, I can see what he's doing with the check book. Last night I questioned him with the receipt from the hardware store and what he purchased. It was something for the 32' Chevy, and this morning he said he had to order something else for it. But quickly added it was under $10.00.Hmmmmmmmmm, right!
Rosey...I'm doing the happy jig for your SIL.

Carol Sue...good find on the books and thanks for recycling. ( swapping)

KarenMo...your topper hanging over your car sounds scary. You must have a really tall garage to do that. My brother has a tennis ball tied to a string and hanging over SIL car so she doesn't go thru the garage. She's short and when the tennis ball hits her front window she knows to stop. I don't think it has anything to do with being short, she just has her mind elsewhere.

Freda...old habit are hard to break, we personally like to eat early too, usually around 4pm. If I wake during the night and can't get back to sleep I eat a tiny bowl of cheerios and milk. (It always works) As to your pudding, we eat that too. DH enjoys it as much as I do. The old wives tale about not eating after supper doesn't make much sense to me unless I've gone over my calorie limit for the day.

Hi to anyone I missed, I have to go find more recipes to use up all the yogurt cheese I made. It goes bad quickly because of no chemicals to keep it for long.

Happy Anniversary, Marie. Hope you have a wonderful day.

My BIL was rushed to surgery early this morning. Everyone thought he had a perforated bowel but it turned out to be an ulcer. Poor guy, this on top of the leukemia. My SIL is beside herself with worry. He wasn't sick at all until a few weeks ago when he had a cold that wouldn't get better. He finally went to the doctor on his wife's insistence and was immediately admitted. It was just over 2 weeks before he was given a diagnosis and then he was air lifed to the city yesterday. Now, every time the phone rings we're anxious that there will be more bad news. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers at this time.

I made a new soup today. It was delicious. It's called Nummy Noodle Soup but it's actually a tofu noodle soup. You can find it here: http://www.mommiecooks.com/2010/09/24/miso-soup/ DH liked it and slurped it up and said he would eat it again.

Bobbi, yogurt/cheese just sounds weird. I like both but I'm not sure as one. DH and I are playing the Scrabble game like you and your DH (without scoring) and we really like it. My DH loves playing so much I tell him, no more moves today or we might as well just sit down and play. Seems it is always my turn.

Mary, I bet you are so excited to have your DD live near you again. And yes, pretty toenails makes me feel girlie too.

Donna, thanks for the congrats on wedded, blessed bliss. I do know it - and because we were so busy I forgot about DWTS last night. Eeks! From what I read, Melissa and Maks probably will go. I've used all my past weeks' votes for them. Melissa has been robbed by the judges just because they don't like Maks. I know she isn't the best to win but she isn't bad like her scores had shown. I will have to watch her dances on YouTube tonight. I suppose I could watch the whole show from abc dot com but that would take a long time. And Kai was fine about 2 hours after the seizure. She's a pluck little imp. Very glad your hand is better. SamCat is too funny on chowing down now. at "bubba and a gun rack".

Rosey, for your SIL and his new job. That must make you rest easier.

Carol Sue, 29 years and now 1 day. Pretty amazing. We had a great night. An hour tandem bike ride and a BBQ. I wouldn't want to go out to eat. It was more fun being at home with the doggies as chaperones.

Speaking of the tandem ride, I've got to tell you the conversation last night about it and losing weight and exercise. DH had taken an empathy leave from exercise after my surgery - don't ask, I have no idea why - and he said in regards to exercising "I was really pushing my legs on the way back". I just look at him and said, "so that's why my legs were exhausted." His total look of confusion was fabulous. Then he said, "Why?" Now I'm nearly giggling, "Because we are working as a tandem. If you push hard, I have to as well. Or the bike wobbles." Now he understands the TANDEM concept. Silly guy. He did say I should have said something and I'm thinking why bother, I like the exercise. Anyway, it truly was entertaining he thought he could do lots of effort and I could just float in the back seat.

Isabella, for your DH's BIL. A rare form of leaukemia is what my father was diagnosed with right after my surgery. So far he is doing well so maybe the same will happen for your DH's BIL.

KarenMO, I'd say 42 years for you. The break doesn't count. The steak was fabulous. Splitting it made it about a 5 oz serving. Great for tastebuds and hips.

Rie, you picke the early flight so you'd have all day on Wednesday to play in Vegas. Enjoy your trip!!!!!

Debbie, I'm so confused by your post. Second window opening??? I guess I'm glad I don't have a Toyota.

Freda, I hope you're feeling more rested today. I LOVE the full moon but I know you've mentioned it brings out the lunatics. Perhaps I fit in that category.

Gotta focus on work now. Have a great day everyone!

Marie - Yogurt cheese isn't really cheese. When you drain the yogurt, it removes the whey and makes it a thicker consistancy. It is a healthier alternative to cream cheese, sour cream etc. It still has the tangy taste of yogurt. Bobbi's yogurt was home made and then she drained it.

We used to have a tandem bike but dh always tried to make me do all the pedaling because I needed the exercise more than he did. That was sweet that your dh took a break from exercise for you while you were recouperating.

Isabella - the soup looks so yummy, but the chunks of tofu would have to be chunks of chicken for me.

I have never had an ulcer but I have had surgery for a perforated bowel. That is not something I would want to go through along with treatment for lukemia. I hope all goes well for him.

Bobbi - The cake with the pineapple topping sounds so good to me, and if I went to a buffet luncheon and saw that, it would look so much more appealing than a plain cake with icing.

Not eating after dinner might be an old wives tale but for me it really does make a difference in my FBS, my weight and the quality of my sleep. I guess it doesn't do that for everyone. DH cannot sleep if he doesn't have something to eat before bed. Last night I joined him in a snack and I tossed and turned all night. Won't do that tonight! I'm tired today!

I had a great workout today! In addition to the usual I walked 20 min at 3.3 speed and mostly at 10 incline on the treadmill. I used to do that but for not for a few years and it felt great to know I can still do it. I also found one of the weight machines easier so I think I'm growing a bit stronger. Or maybe it was just the energy drink I drank before I left home! LOL Stopped for groceries and CU on way home. It also feels great feeling in control of my eating/hunger. I hope I never fall back to my old ways as I really like this. Some days I eat healthier than others but so far no problems with keeping within my eating plan limits.

Slmn11 - If I go to bed hungry, I can't sleep. Haven't tried it recently (not so hungry these days) and maybe just be snacking out of habit now but usually I feel the need to eat by 8 pm. I try to stop before 9 at least. Doing much better with my evening snacking these days too. At times I think about eating more, but not so much that I have to do it.

Marie - Yes it will be nice to have our dd and the kiddos closer. We drove over to their new house to pickup some packages for her and it is beautiful! We peeked in the windows and walked around to see the back yard. Very very pretty! They have a large deck that will be great for all the entertainment they do. I am so happy for them and hope they can stay longer here than they do most places. The company keeps moving him but can't complain as it means promotions. He is very good at what he does.

Retiredone- The soup looks/sounds good! Looks like something my dh would like too. Praying for your bil.

Bobbi - Yes, if you count out the jelly beans, they are ok, but my problem is if they are nearby, I won't stop til they are gone. Before I got back on track, last month, I was hungry for them and stopped at the Sweet Factory, bought a small bag ...at least I was smart enough to not fill up too much...but I gobbled them down in less than five min! I don't know how many I got but I'm sure it was more than I needed.....hopefully I can do better now but I'd rather not "give place to the Devil"....I had trouble sleeping last night but wasn't really hungry..just restless and my skin felt dry and itching. I thought about getting up but was afraid I might be tempted to eat so I didn't. I've done it before and regretted it. I think I'd have been ok now as I feel so much more in control but again, I just want to be sure I don't mess up.

Debbie - Are you talking about a pop-up here on 3FC? I haven't seen it but I do have my browser set to block pop-ups although a few do it through. You might check your settings.

ETA: You all may know this but it was new to me. I always just keep strawberries in the plastic container they come in and I keep them in the refrigerator. We don't always get to them right away though if they weren't refrigerated we'd be more likely too I guess.

How to Store: If using right away, it's best not to refrigerate them. Otherwise, lay the berries flat on a paper-towel-lined plate and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Do not rinse or hull until ready to use.
