Good morning,
My friend is not doing so well. Couldnt get in to see her yesterday. she is back on the ventilator and sedated. I dont wanna believe it but i dont feel she is gonna make it. Makes me very sad. she was so special to me.A wonderful woman who ran her business for over 50 years here in alaska. She has a beautiful native Art gift shop here in Girdwood.

I had a good report from my Dr. My fusion is progressing well and bone is growing. Arthritis is causing me some discomfort but all in all its all good.

Love to hear Bobbi your growing some herbs indoors. im itching to plant myself. Indoors of course here right now. Your DD Cat is so cute. naughty girl tho ha... Sylvee just runs from everyone. she is an only furchild and use to my DH and me but nobody else. she is a lover girl with us.

Rosey sure hope Gizzmo is better today.

have a wonderful day Girls

Good Morning GG's,

Another lovely, sunny day. I washed the bed spread today and changed the bed. I put on the cotton sheets. We use flannel all winter, and it's just too hot for those. Had fans on last night but could have used the air too. I washed the bedroom wall and did all the vacuuming under the bed and furniture things that don't get done all the time. One room done, many more to go. We're going to scrub down the front porch when it gets a little warmer too, and get the cushions out for the furniture. I guess it's that time, although I still think we might get some really bad weather.

Rie, Crossing my fingers for you, with all the stuff going on at work. But I know you will be fine. You are a example of how things should go. Just relax and be your usual wonderful self.

Isabella, Yes we are from the same generation! Of course I remember the song, at least most of it. Thanks for the recipe. something I can see myself making. Actually, I do make the vegetable soup really simular but don't add the egg. That addition will change it up a bit.

Rosie, so sorry that gizmo was sick last night. Aspiration is very dangerious for setting up pneumonia, but he's got a good mama that will take good care of him.

Deelee, Glad you did well last night. It's one day at a time. Good luck at bridge. Do you play online too? One of the ladies at Curves playes online bridge all the time, along with her bridge games.

Bobbi, Your tree has beautiful flowers. Look like orange blossoms. do they smell as good? Did you get fruit last year, sorry I forgot. How did you get it started? I would try to grow it just for the flowers.

Carol Sue, True, doctors don't don't give you a lot of information about the drugs they prescribe. But mine does tell me the major, usual complications. Every drug has a ton of things that "could" happen but are very rare. The packet you get with a drug should give you a list.

Marie, Sorry to hear you are still feeling bad. if you know you are doing too much and are feeling it, STOP!

Lynn, got a laugh about you getting bit for not minding your kitty. Mine did the same thing.

Got to get busy here, lots to do,

freda

Snippet 2 -
Yes one day at a time. Last night after
bridge I wanted my totilla chips- I had
a handful left - DH had opiates them off.
I had the rest of my egg salad instead.
I don't play bridge on line. Do you play?
DH and I are intermediates - we play the
hands and defense well but are trying to
learn the newer bidding. I love bridge.
It's one of the few things I do that I don't
feel the need to snack. But past 6 months
I haven't been able to practice.
Lady- glad your fusion working. Sounds
like a painful process.

Good Hola!
It looks like the last time I posted was the 19th… can it be?

Marie – any word on your dad? I’m thinking good thoughts! Are you better and better, every day?

Freda - always love to hear from you!

Rosey – did I compliment you on your doggies? I know two of them aren’t yours, but they’re all so sweet! I’m glad Sadie is away from Toots for a while; she a big galooper and would squash her! Oh, I hope Mr. Gizmo is okay!!

Isabella – I’m pretty impressed with your renovations… So much in my house needs renovating, all of which overwhelms me and so nothing gets done. This little stint with the pretty lawn boys has tapped me for a while, anyway. And I told the ComputerGod to FINALLY bring my PC back. It’s only been 6 months…

I’ve thought about your thought that maybe my problems with 3FC are connection related. I think more it’s the time of the day… maybe. The computer here at work is older than I am, so I can’t imagine it has better connectivity. What do I know, though?

I made an appointment with a new PCP for GM. Yesterday, I took her for a follow up with the vascular surgeon. The doppler scan of her reamed-out carotid looked fabulous! Everything is surging. The other side is almost completely blocked, and the reamed-out carotid has taken over. He was very pleased. He also was unimpressed with her edema (which she showed to everyone she could, even though I tried to restrain her; she’s proud of it, apparently)… he’s hoping that the new PCP will be able to improve the HBP situation. I was totally exhausted by the time I got home!

SS/Zoe – hope dgs is fully recovered. Those nightmares are scarier for the parents, I think!

Rie – I can’t imagine sheets smelling like sugar cookies! I’m with whomever that I’d be chewing on them in the middle of the night! I love the smell of the outside dried clothes… and soon it will be warm enough to do that. Did you get notice about all the visitors at work? Are you expected to entertain them? How long will they be here? Can’t your knee bother you so much you have to go home?

Bobbi – my theory about your headaches that they appear only to keep you on your toes, that there’s no other rhyme or reason. And I so agree with you about Dr. Oz; he’s entertaining and informative, and one would have to be a Trump to afford all that! Are those plants your lemon trees? That cat has a look of royal disdain… I can see her aiming for you! Well, I just answered my own question about the plant pictures…

Gotta get busy!!! Talk to you when I get another chance!! Everyone, be well! Newbies, welcome.... Everyone, onward!

Hi everyone its a beautiful sunny but cold day here. poor little gizmo is still under the weather. hes hiding out in his kennel. Toots is a fiesty little thing. my dh measured her and shes 6 1/2 inches long including tail. ive seen mice bigger than her. not much going on except one thing that i want to share. my goal has always been to get the best mobility possible for myself. and i have been practicing walking with out the walker. i can now navigate without it as long as i have a wall or counter in case my balance is off. today i ordered a sp quad tip for my cane and the goal is to get rid of the walker. for the 1st time im jazzed about this happening. im feeling more normal and am excited to graduate back to the cane my dh was impressed when i showed him what i could do,and hes not easily impressed. yay me.with everyones renovations makes me want to redo things too. and the spring flowers you all have makes me green with envy. ttfn rosey

Donna...KarenFla made me jealous with her myer lemons she can pick off her trees. I'd never heard of them, nothing like that available in our small town markets, not long ago Karen told me they were a cross between lemons and mandarin? orange, that's why they taste so good. So I look them up online and ordered a live mini myer lemon tree. The flowers smell wonderful, sweet with a hint of floral.

I'm cooking supper so can't stay, just wanted to quickly see what everyone was doing. Hi Freda, be back later. The buzzers going off, I made DH a pineapple upside down cake.

hi all....I'll start this and maybe come back later and finish.

Lady...Sorry about your friend and I will keep her in my prayers.

Freda...Lemon blossoms are as sweet if not sweeter than orange blossoms. The tree can be setting fruit and blooming at the same time. There's a name for that that I've forgotten.

Marie...How's the nose and has it reached asthmatic level? I have you Df in my prayers. Remember GG prayers are the bestest!

Isabella...Soups sounds wonderful and just too easy! thank you

Zoe...how is the little guy?

Bobbi...we have 3 lemons about the size of tennis ballsnad loads of blossoms. Less than 1/2 grown...think big grapefruit size!

Rosie...so glad to hear you are getting quad tip cane. Only safe came to use. Sounds like you have doggie daycare center.

Loving my new hearing aids and absolutely adore the wirelss tv sound system. Love have a clicker to control noise level. Am 2012 3fc ipod! Off to meet friends for dinner.....k3

Just got home from our routine (every 4 mo) doctor visit. I could tell he was disappointed in me gaining back most of what I lost with MF. He suggested I go on the local hospitals diet plan...it uses supplements similar to Slim-Fast. I'm not going to do it. I KNOW how to eat, I just don't always do it! So no program will work unless I follow it plus as I remember the hospital plan is expensive. It's up to me now and I told him so. My A1c was up at 6.6 and he says the test tends to lag behind so now that I've gained weight again, he predicts it will be higher next time. But I am really trying to do better so hopefully I can prove him wrong.

I have been having chest pain in recent weeks...I am pretty sure it is because of my hernia but I mentioned it to him. So I had to have an EKG and will soon be scheduled for a stress test. He agrees it is probably my hernia and he has increased the medication I take and it is now a prescription rather than OTC. Joe also had an EKG for one episode of chest pain and I think he is also taking the stress test. He has taken it before but it will be a first for me. I also had to have blood drawn. I had a couple other things to talk to him about but he just kinda dismissed them saying I needed another appointment to discuss them. Actually I had a total of six things to talk about this time and knew I likely wouldn't get them all in due to time constraints but I did feel those three were important and was a little disappointed in his attitude. Apparently these routine visits are only for things related to diabetes. Well, I didn't realize that and stand corrected. I'm going to wait a week and if things don't change I guess I'll make another appt.

Jess - Glad GM test turned out well. She seems to be a perky old gal for the condition she's in!

Lady - Glad your report is good too. Sorry about your friend though.

Retiredone - I would love to be able to cuddle with my dh more but I too am way too warm to be close for very long! He is warm at night though and my feet are usually cold (my one cold place!) so he warms them up but soon I have to go my own way as I get too warm. We have a Queen bed which is just about right as it gives me enough room to spread out somewhat when I get hot and yet we are not too far apart to miss the feel of "togetherness."
Sorry you are feeling tired..I have nights like that..just can't sleep or have bad dreams that wake me up..then either oversleep the next morning or am tired and sluggish all day. Hope you sleep better tonight. How is your back?

Rosey - Poor little Gizmo! Your pets sure keep you busy but I know you love them all. WTG walking without the walker!! You are doing great! Just be careful.

Slmn1 - Your description of not wanting to come home to find our dh lying on the driveway is exactly they way I found mine the day he jumped off a falling ladder and fractured his right femur! It is not nice. I still have trouble keeping him off ladders though. Just today I looked out and he was up on a ladder measuring the wood along the roof as we are getting it replaced due to rot. He finally consented to hiring someone to do the work but he just had to do the measuring himself. I can't even convince him to buy a better, more stable ladder! Maybe I will suprise him with one for his birthday next month..

Marie - Sorry to hear about your dad..I know that's a tough one. My dad lived to 88 but it was still difficult to accept.

I know I missed some of you..hi Deelee, Lynn and anyone else I missed.

Hi Everyone,

Today I met my friend from North Jersey. We did lunch, walked on the canal, and stopped by a cute little touristy town.

Maryea - Our yard has a slope to it on the side, and that's why I hate to see DH up on the ladder...it's hard to get it settled well on the ground with the slope. In the back it's very straight and it's only 1 floor up to the roof, but in the front it's 2 floors with the concrete driveway below. That's what scares me. Do you think the outcome might have been different for your DH if you had been home to hold the ladder? I think it would have turned out the same but then you would have felt guilty because you were in charge of holding the ladder.

What kind of stress test will you have? Will you walk on the treadmill, or have the one where they inject you? I used to do the treadmill, but I can't anymore because of my arthritis. If you have the one where they inject you, it makes you feel really weird! Don't get scared. The feeling is normal and only lasts for a few minutes, then you go back to normal. I hope it is negative for both you and your DH.

Freda - When I first got the tendonitis I told my PCP that it was from the Cipro I took, because it says right on the paperwork that came with the rx that it can cause tendonitis or tendon ruptures, especially in people over age 60. He told me he didn't think it was from the Cipro because people take Cipro all the time and it's a very rare side effect. He needs to look up the definition of rare......it CAN happen, even if it's not often. DH always says that if a side effect is even remotely possible, I will get it. I was upset that the doctor brushed it off.

Marie - What brand name is your epilator? I had one I really liked, but I only use it in the summer. I got it out to use this year and it won't hold a charge. DH said the battery is good, and it will run fine if you have the head off of it, but put the head on and it slows down and shuts off. I have another older one but it's a little too painful to use.

I am sorry to hear your father is ill. I saw all the posts about him but I must have missed your post saying what his diagnosis it, but I hope he is not in pain.

Good evening GG's,

I feel guilty to come here, because I am having trouble trying to fit in everything I need/want to do. I read all your posts and want to do personals, but struggle with time.

I have been trying harder to get in the exercise. I have been going to physical therapy for my sciatic pain. I feel like if I don't do at home what they have taught me, I am not helping myself ~ so I have been making myself do that. And I desperately need to fit in the walking~ like Mary, it doesn't seem to help much with the weight loss, but is supposed to help with the body's use of the insulin ~ and as I am pre-diabetic, I want to do it for that reason. As much as I liked the walking with the little grocery cart, I found myself struggling to make myself do that. I have borrowed Maddie's outgrown stroller from my daughter and have started walking in my driveway with that to hold onto. I asked my daughter if it would embarrass her for me to be seen walking an empty stroller ~ she said ~ I don't know you ~ LOL.

I went out this morning after breakfast and did 15 minutes. I am about to head out there and do another 15 minutes. Hoping that by doing it at those times, it will be before it gets too hot, and in the evening after it cools down a little. Also, after I eat supper, and am using the computer, is when I start wanting to just stuff my face. So, I am hoping that by doing the walk, it will use up some of that time when I have to fight with myself. Also, I have read things/heard things about not exercising too close to bed time, but I don't think I do it vigorously enough for it to affect my sleep adversely.

One more day, then off the weekend. Got out on time tonight ~ what a treat. Not sure how tomorrow will go, the charge nurse has hurt herself (back I think) and will be out of work for a couple weeks. That makes the 4th coworker that has hurt themselves. So, it might not turn out a very good day. Hoping though to get out not too horribly late and get to the personals.

Saying prayers for those of you with friends/relatives that are not doing well. And prayers for my Golden sisters with health concerns. Hope you all rest well tonight.

Take care

Hi Goldens!

I am through the first day of the site visit and will finish up mod-day tomorrow. I took a couple of people out to dinner tonight and then came home around 7. My dil called and asked me if my mom and I could make a traditional german coffee cake for her master's final art show. She is a fiber artist and her show is themed around family and tradition. So, I will be making "rivel kouga" with my mom to serve as part of the refreshments. It is a sweet bread dough with a crumbly topping that is flavored with maple syrup. I thought it was a sweet request.

Donna, part of my wants to escape and yet, I really want to do my best. The purpose of their visit is to learn how to treat kids in facilities. After I finish tomorrow I will open a large bottle of wine. I hope that GM pcp is much better.

Rosey, Yay! I am so very proud of you. You are living WALKING proof that we can change our life if we choose to!

Freda, wow, lots of cleaning! I think I might get to work on my bedroom this saturday. It is starting to look like a hoarder's room with all the clothes that need to go It is time.

Karen, so glad that your new hearing aides are working well. Now we don't have to shout any longer, ehhhhh??? How's your bridge game? How are you feeling?

Isabella, seriously, this scentsy stuff is so wonderful. There is sugar cookie body lotion and the thingy that you put in the dryer. Absolutely wonderful. I have a wax warmer in my office that smells like birthday cake. Some people complain that it makes them hungry but it doesn't bother me.

Gayle, please, please don't EVER feel guilty about whatever time you can do here. I am proud of you for exercising - like I always tell you.... one step at a time.

Lynn, How is your class? I will be walking with you again after tomorrow!

Mary, sorry about your dr attitude. It will get better. I have had stress tests, it will be ok.

Marie, are you feeling better? I hope so. Not a good time for you to be sick.

Lady, so sorry about your friend. You are in my thoughts.

Bobbi, I could never make pineapple upside down cake.... I love it soooooo much that I would probably just bend over and stick my face in the cake and start eating.

deelee, I loved your little snippets.

Well, I am off to get some rest. tomorrow morning starts with an early session. Back tomorrow night.

BTW, I spent most of the day with a giant platter of home-cooked monster cookies that were LOADED with m&m's and chocolate chunks on the conference table where we were meeting. I did not have one..... I might tomorrow. I am afraid that some well-meaning night staff member will make something even better tonight and it will be waiting for me. I swear, if it is fudgy brownies.... somebody's gonna get fired in the morning! (I'm kidding)
