Good Morning all,

Looks like we're going to get a spring rain today. I'm saying spring rain, but spring rains are usually warm and it's cold outside. It's supposed to be in the 80's this weekend, and it's my weekend off! Whoopee! Usually, if it's warm, I'm working. Lots of plans for the weekend. I'm going clock shopping today. Noticed not many places that sell nice clocks but I found one.

Hi Ms. Buttermilk (which I love, by the way) of course you can join. Welcome! and age wise, we run anywhere from 50 to 70, so you are kind of in the middle.

Karen, Dogs are wonderful, but not when their owners are not responsible. Did you call the police again. Thank God Dash wasn't injured. How about Meier lemon seeds? Anyone ever started a plant with seeds?

Gayle, We all just do the best we can, when we can. Don't be so mean to yourself. And exercise is hard, and you are sore at first. But your body gets stronger and you start feeling better. And they say 3 days a week is ok, so don't beat yourself up.

Rosie, Oh, you devil you!!! I bet DH injoyed the little peep show. Congrats, it's moments like that when you realize it's all worth it.

Isabella, I'm with you, I don't shop on check day.

Carol Sue, I'm the one with the doggie that is losing his eye sight. So far he seems to be doing fine. If he gets really bad we'll get him a seeing eye dog.

Mary, I don't think you can read while you do the test. They have to get your heart rate up so you are moving pretty fast.

Andi, I got put on mega-dose vitamin D last time I went for a check up too. I asked my Dr. why, just all of a sudden, everyone was put on vitD. He said it was because before they couldn't check the leavels. But it does seem that things come and go, vitamin wise. Good for you today, not so much tomorrow. I do plan to get some sunshine this summer, when we actually have sun. it's just 15 min. a day, not bake untill you're done. And eggs are once more good for you, yolk included.

Hey Jess, That darned ole work is taking up too much of your time. Miss talking to you. What kind of shoes did you buy? I love sandles, but I need a good pedicure before I go bare. Right now would be a shock to anyones eyes.

Lynn, Hope the car is just maintenance and nothings wrong.

Marie, How are you feeling? I saw the quilt you posted. Beautiful! It looked really hard untill I broke it down. It's actually mostly squares and a little aapplique. It's just the interesting colors that make it look so unique.

Rie, How are you girl?

Freda

Donna, I’m doing well. Not as well as scheduled since I still have some bleeding. That did get me another 2 weeks off from work so there is a bright side I suppose. Sasha Joy is doing all right. The meds haven’t seemed to change her enlarged pupil much but she’s a happy girl and doesn’t seem in as much pain.

Puneri, post a picture of your quilt I progress. There are a lot of us quilters. I’m usually not very thrilled with JoAnn’s quilt fabrics.

Deelee, I like you new avatar picture. You look great.

Rosey, I so very much understand about the vet bill straining the budget. Sasha Joy’s eye has done a number this month and for the foreseeable future. I think you should take a pic of your pretty bra. You don’t have to be in the picture silly. Mr CrankyPants needs to learn the correct use of his eyes when being flashed. Rolling them isn’t. Opening wide in desire is.

Gayle, have you thought about trying an audiobook while you walk? When I first began exercising, I used listening to a bestseller as my draw. I’d only let myself listen if I was exercising. It worked great. Now I don’t need anything to motivate me because exercising has that feel good benefit. I can’t wait to be able to do something again. Reading further, I see how frustrated you are. You are right, you need to lower your expectations so that you’re not beating yourself up if you don’t exercise every day. Perhaps you could go for something like taking a walk 2-3 times a week. When you have that and are happy with it, then you can make changes. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not a daily torture.

Andi, way to go on your weight loss. You are doing great. I take a Vit D supplement and my results came back from my doctor “perfect, keep doing what you’re doing”. Costco sells a gigantic bottle of them.

Carol Sue, Sasha Joy isn’t just losing her eyesight. She’s in a lot of pain with the glaucoma. I do think that if the vision loss is permanent she’ll be fine but I need the pain eradicated because she’s too wonderful to have to deal with that. BTW, the meds do seem to be working on the pain.

Mary, thinking of you today with the stress test. I hope all goes well and you get some answers.

Isabella, I’d be scared of spending the entire monthly check in one day as well. I hope she got lots of groceries.

KarenFL, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with horrible neighbor pet owners. It just blows my mind how people can’t realize that they don’t have the right to inflict their dog on others. I’d never, ever think that my beloved pups had the right to roam the neighborhood. That’s why there are leash laws. Just keep calling the cops. I almost posted a picture of my pool for you yesterday. There was a slick sheet of ice on it. Almost thought it was good enough for ice skating. Enjoy your swim. I am jealous.

Welcome Buttermilk, I think you’ll find a lot of us here eat to sooth our stressors.

Freda, I am so jealous of your 80 temps this weekend. We’re in a nasty weather pattern that has been spinning yuck from the Pacific for a month now. January was way nicer. And yes, the quilt was very easy. It was Rosey’s pattern. I thought hers was so cute that my grandson needed one.

Buttermilk, glad to have you. As to the ages of us, Freda is correct that we're from 50 to 70. I'm 66 myself and earned every white hair on my head.
Marie..I don't even know what an epilator is, sounds painful. I'm like a hairless dog, never had hairy legs or arms. Now that I'm older I have next to nothing anywhere? LOL Too much information...I know. Last night DH told me something scary about Charlie, he has 3 lumps on him. One the size of a golf ball, vet is checking him out this afternoon. I'm scared, tummy full of bouncing balls. How's Sasha doing? Oh how we worry about our beloved pets.

Gayle..I feel for you dear, you all know how I feel about exercise. Hate it. I've sold every piece of exercise equipment I have so I have an excuse not to use it. I'm not ever going to buy more. I lost my weight just by cutting calories, period. With the traveling to Colorado site, at least I'm walking more and I do 25 counter top push ups daily. Sometimes twice a day, that it. Don't beat yourself up.
[quote]
I feel like I need to do it everyday, but end up feeling like a failure when I don’t ~ either because I am too tired or because I end up
with not enough time. DH says I am good at making excuses, well, it is
easy to say what someone else should be doing.

Oh Rosey...you ticked me too just thinking about it. Were you wearing them when you flashed Mr. Cranky Pants?
Karenfla...Yup, filled it a couple of days ago. Fortunately I don't go much so a tank lasts quite awhile. Armadillo? Gesh..it would be bad enough having gators in my back yard
Isabella...the pension crowd reminded me of what our friend calls pension people. Q-Tips. He said they all wear white tennis shoes and have white hair, therefore Q-Tips.
Andi...congrats on the weight loss, I enjoy your traveling history on Lynns Colorado trip. I went off my high cholesterol meds and concentrated on herbal supplements instead. It didn't work with me and losing all that weight didn't effect it either. Doc said my body just makes lots of cholesterol and I needed the meds. The extra fiber does work in losing weight.

Dee...I have a MIL that would try to force food on us too. Now that I think of it, she has always tried to force her will on us too. I remember times I'd like to have more of her meals but purposely refused just so she didn't think I was under her thumb. I've had bad vibes from her for years. Blah, this is putting me in a mood just thinking about her. I don't know if myer lemon trees would work in your area. Northern folks like us have winters way too cold for them, that's why I purchased a potted dwarf tree. You could check unline but I doubt you'll find one. The plant I purchased needs at least 6 hours of sun daily, ours gets morning and afternoon sun.
Mary...I'm thinking of you today, doc appointment right? Hope you get some reassuring news.
Freda...what kind of dog do you have? I'm sure you mentioned it, was it a black lab?

Sorry if this is so wordy, but I haven't posted for awhile. I'm sure I missed some of you, not to worry. I still think of you all often, sometimes something I do or see reminds me of my online friends.

Subject: Feeling Run Down!...

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.
While on the operating table she had a near death experience.Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have aface-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck. She even hadsomeone come in and change her hair colour and brighten her teeth!Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as wellmake the most of it.After her last operation, she was released from the hospital and whilecrossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.Arriving in front of God, she demanded "I thought you said I hadanother 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of theambulance?"God replied: "I didn't recognize you!"

Lynn...forgot to mention your Creamy peanut butter noodles & veggie dish which I made last night. Most of the golden girls are down to 2 or less people and this recipe makes a huge amount. I don't know if you mentioned this Lynn, if so.... it went over my head.
Anyway, it was easy and tasty but not enough sauce to suit me. Next time I'll cut the noodles in half, leave the rest of the recipe as written. Then it won't take a week to eat and it'll have a more peanut buttery taste. Keep the recipes coming, it's fun to experiment.

Quick drive-by... need to be working!

KarenFL - I definitely misread your offer to send us all Meyer lemon trees! Sorry about the number that did on your heart! A LEMON would be lovely!

Mary - thinking very good thoughts for your today. Do go into great and gory detail!

Freda - thanks for missing me! Yesterday was 100% old lady. I had a nice lunch with my surrogate granny (also 89) and then spent the afternoon getting GM settled in with her new PCP. NOT impressed with the office staff or the MAs; however, the doc seemed competent and interested. Of course, they want her back next week. The doc wanted to up her Bystolic, and I said NO WAY... That stuff is terrible for her, and she has every side effect offered; so, we'll be trying #3 HBP medication. Once they get those regulated, maybe she'll sleep better, too.

Rosey - I love that you flashed Mr. CrankyPants (is he still cranky?). How is it going with his diet? How's Gizmo? Pats to all pets, big and little...

Gotta run! Welcome, newbies.... Everyone, have a lovely!

Hi. The construction is going on in BOTH bathrooms now. It’s disrupting my normal routine and invading my privacy. Can’t leave for long because I never know when they will have a question. Will be glad when I get my privacy back.

Bobbi - I knew I could come here and get a laugh! Who thinks these jokes up? Very good. I see that you live in Minn. Are you Scandinavian? Perhaps that’s why you don’t have a lot of leg hair. My grandmother was Swedish - no body hair but thick head of hair right up until she died at age 95. I completely agree with you about having to cut calories to lose weight.

Thanks Marie. Great idea about a pic of Rosey’s bra! I would love to see it.! Vet bills are expensive. I’ve heard of medical insurance for pets. Don’t know anything about it. And if they’re taking human medicine they should be covered on our plans as dependents -IMHO.

Freda - so true about what’s good for us from decade to decade. I never gave up the eggs because I didn’t have a cholesterol problem.

I'm catching up on posts in reverse order. I'll be back.

Karen3 - Do you think you could persuade the armidillo's to attack the pit bull?

Marie - My last dog who was blind had glaucoma. When he got it in the first eye they told us he was in a lot of pain, but he didn't appear to be in pain. They gave us an RX for drops that cost $97. They didn't seem to help, so DH started putting Visine in the eye. Eventually, the redness and swelling went away. His eye looked normal after that, although we knew he couldn't see out of it. Then it started in the other eye. Back to the Visine and it eventually cleared up, also. We weren't trying to restore his sight....we knew that wasn't going to happen. My main concern was that they said if he bumped his head his eye could pop out. After the swelling and redness was gone in both eyes, he just started feeling his way around and lived that way for a few more years. I hope Sasha isn't in a lot of pain. How old is she? Our dog was around 12 when he got the glaucoma.

Freda - LOL at the seeing eye dog. He would probably enjoy the company!

Gayle - Lots of people have lost weight without exercising, but there are so many good reasons to exercise...your blood sugar, blood pressure, strengthening your heart and lungs and mobility. If you exercise 1 day a week, that's better than none. If you exercise 2 days a week, that's better than none. Just exercise when you can, and don't worry about the times that you don't exercise. You have a job that keeps you moving, and that's exercise too. You're doing great!

Bobbi - I hope Charlie is OK. Mostly those bumps are benign.

Maryea - Thinking about you today and hoping things go well.

Bobbi, I hope that Charlie’s lumps are nothing but from my experience they never are. My pack is sending him good thoughts. And so am I.

Donna, well that stinks the new PCP’s staff aren’t likeable. We’d all hoped you’d find a great doctor and staff for G/M.

Brenda, on losing 3 pounds this week. You are doing great!!!!!

Deelee, I’m thinking I couldn’t handle both my bathrooms being reconstructed at the same time. That would drive me bonkers. I always think about getting the pet insurance but they wouldn’t cover pre-existing conditions on the pet and I’m busy paying for those.

Carol Sue, at the armadillo attacking the pitbull. Great idea! Hmmm… the visine idea is in my memory bank. I will try it if needed. Sasha is 4 years old. She was definitely in a lot of pain. Now I don’t think she is. And I was wrong earlier thinking some of her vision was coming back. I tested it like I saw the vet do and nope.

DH finished the stained glass panel to go with DGS’s quilt I made. I did a little bit while sitting on my couch but the majority was done by him. Here’s a picture of the quilt and stained glass.

Hi everyone. its sunny and melting today i heard from my dd,they made it to Dawson Creek today with a few minor breakdowns. im so excited to see her. jess my steve is always cranky, and complains all the time, hes always been that way. he has not had a tummy issues since i put him on a fat free diet. we are now waiting for the blood clots to go away so he can come off the blood thinners and have the shoulder surgury. after he recovers he wil be able to get to his cabin which is his main concern now. good thing im easy going to apoint, then i have to remind him to be nice lol oh and the puppeis are fine, toots has figured out the potty papers, what a smart dog,as long as she has one foot on them she thinks its ok LOL glynn sry you are so conflicted,i find the more i stew about it the harder it is for me. the guilt is self defeating. just do what you can when you can and let the guilt about it go i dont like exercise either, and dont do alot of it and i find i loose just fine now, with control of my foods esp carbs.lady sheets congrats on the loss thats awsome, and i forgot to say im sry for your loss welcome buttermilk. hope youday is a good one everyone ttfn rosey

I’m back.
Thanks Gayle - about compliment. I read your later massage first. I sent you a pm with details about my experiences with diet and exercise. It was too lengthy to post here. I have to admit - that’s the best picture I (and DH) have taken in a long time. It was taken by our waiter at a restaurant on our anniversary. You know, had on makeup, hair fixed, low lighting and great camara angle. But when I look at it I don’t look as young as I picture myself in my mind’s eye - lol! But it’s better than I look in real life and in other pictures. And unless I have plastic surgery, it’s not going to get any better. You know, “Second Wives Club” was on t.v. not long ago, Goldie Hawn said, “There are only three ages for women in movies - babe, mother, and driving Miss Daisy.” The first time I saw that movie I was “mother” which was fine. Now, 10 plus years later - I’m in Miss Daisy territory. What a difference a decade makes.

Welcome Buttermilk! That old lose and gain thing - I hate when that happens! I gained around 12 - 15ish pounds (not positive cuz I had my hands over my eyes and I didn’t write it down) since January 1 of this year! Amazing how quick it comes back on. I tried to “be good” and lost a couple of pounds then got seriously on plan (OP) which for me is Ideal Protein (IP) and have lost 5 -7 depending on what I really weighed! Anyway, you are not alone. Are you on a particular diet plan? I am an emotional eater too.

Karen 3 - I think it is just horrible about that neighbor and his dog. I agree to call the police. In my area, if the police are called twice for just barking dogs (like an all day thing) they tell you the third time you have to find a new home for your dog. I’ve never actually heard of that happening. But what you are experiencing is really serious, for all of you! I’m really ticked off about that beast and his owner. Weren't we going to get a Golden Chick Commando down to your house a while back? I say we come down to take care of that neighbor.

Maryea - hope your test goes well.

AndI - congrats on weight loss. Hope you like the BHRT - I do. If my doctor cuts me off in a few years like he originally said he’s going to - I swear I’ll buy it on the black market. Actually, I’ll just have my endocrinologist prescribe it. He did originally.

I’m sorry if my posts are long sometimes. I love talking to you chicks!

The stress test is over. I was there only 2 1/2 hours and had no problem with any of it other than it taking 3 sticks to get the IV in but that happens sometimes. My bp was high all the time I was there (not just on the treadmill) and I had an occasional head and neck ache but nothing different than I have these days. All the pain is minor but definitely not normal. On the treadmill they got my heart rate up to 161. They wanted at least 120, but preferred 150 and they got that and more! I felt I could have gone longer and even a little harder....the speed didn't seem fast at all to me but the incline did get higher than I normally walk these days....but guess that was enough for them. My heart rate/BP did go up pretty fast. But apparently nothing stood out as really bad as they didn't call in the cardiologist. So now I have to wait about a week (probably) before I hear the results. I'm still having the mild chest pain along with some breathiness. My dh notices it when I speak too so it's not just me. As long as it is only the chest pain and slight sob I still tend to think its my hernia, but the head stuff is still confusing to me. They did say that if you are not getting enough oxygen to the heart it can also cause head symptoms...didn't need to hear that..

Meantime, starting tomorrow...today's pretty well shot with my wierd eating pattern and maybe dinner out tonight.....I'm determined to start watching my intake more carefully than ever. This has been another wake-up call no matter whether it's my heart or not...the extra weight I carry around my middle is not helping anything.

Deelee - I feel Miss Daisy getting closer and closer!! Think I need a driver...I'm so forgetful and have a hard time focusing these days. I'm wondering if it's the statin drug I'm taking. Yesterday I was going to Safeway Pharmacy to pick up some med. Our CU is in the same shopping area and I go there more often than to Safeway. When I started out I knew where I was going and why, but as I drove into the parking lot, I automatically starting going in the direction of the CU to park. Then I thought, why am I going to the CU? I can't think of a thing I need to do there." Finally I pulled over to think abit and then remembered it was Safeways I needed to go to, not the CU! That's getting pretty bad...

Marie - What wonderful gifts for your gs! You know you are setting a precedence...now other gc you have will likely expect the same..

Buttermilk Sky - Love your name!! Welcome!! Your age is right in line with the rest of us. I think I am maybe the oldest here? Not sure think there was one older who used to pop in now and then, but I'm pretty regular so perhaps I can claim the distinction. I am 69.

Well, we are expecting company soon and then maybe going out to eat. Talk later..you all have a wonderful evening and thank you for all your concern for me.

Ladysheets, I'm so bad with names...I think it's Brenda? Sign your name at the bottom for ignoramus like me please. Congrats on the 3 lb. loss.
Lynn...we had some left over peanut butter noodle dish tonight with antelope stroganoff over the top, yummy. It actually tasted better today and we still have enough for DH's lunch tomorrow.

Good evening GG’s,

Yippee ~ off tomorrow. Got out of work on time tonight. Again ~ yippee!!! We had a pretty good day.

Have physical therapy tomorrow ~ in the pool. Love the pool.

I was talking to one of my coworkers and she said she was going to the “Y” for water therapy. I asked her which one and it is the same one I can go to. She is about my age, and I enjoy working with her. Maybe we will both end up there at the same time sometime, that might be fun, and maybe would make me want to go more often.

Mom had an episode of high blood pressure at her dr’s visit last week. She was back again for a check up today and it was elevated again, so the dr has put her in the hospital for observation for over the weekend. She sounded good when I talked to her. She has a wonderful attitude ~ I need to try to be like that ~ she has always said that she isn’t going to worry about stuff until there is something to worry about. Now if that darn alzheimers would just go away.

Feels kind of weird ~ talking to mom right before I go to bed is part of my daily routine. I joke around with her that she has to tuck me in each night (she is in Ohio ~ so it is long distance by phone ~ LOL). I told her tonight ~ I guess I would have to tuck myself in

Thank you all for your encouragement ~ what would I do without my GG’s?

Getting sleepy, so I guess I will head to bed soon. Sorry, I’ve run out of steam for the personals. Hope you all rest well tonight.
