Thank you all for your kind post and thoughts for my friend Marie. She passed away on thursday. Its been really hard. I miss her so much. But the only thing good was she didnt suffer and she got to stay independent and the boss of her company until she was 90 years old. It was a blessing.
Life changes, people come and go its all part of living i guess.

Hi GG's,

Marie, condolences on the loss of a good friend.

It was a beautiful weekend in Ohio and I finally mowed my lawn for the first time yesterday. It's greening up nicely, but I have these darned wild onions all over my back yard, which smell the place up when I mow.

DD came back from skiing in Colorado and DS came back from hiking on the Appalachian Trail with his friends and we all had a good meal and breakfast before they headed back to OSU for Spring quarter. Of course we're all excited that the Buckeyes are in the Final Four! Even between the mountains in Georgia, my DS was able to view some of the play on his phone - amazing!

I was busy playing hostess and didn't get in much exercise, but I like that kind of busy. :-) We have a freeze warning tonight, the first in about a month!

Have a good day everyone!

Andi

Good Morning!
Looks like many golden girls are moving to facebook. I don't remember who mentioned the fact that we don't talk much about dieting here, do you think we should get back to talk about foods, excercise, tips on staying OP? I do so enjoy hearing about everyone's day and the trials and tribulations after 50+. Just a thought, I'd like to hear what you all think.
I'm working on a blue jean teddy bear, trying to use up all the jean material I have left over. I purchased some colorful iron on hearts to put somewhere on the bear.
Hope you all have a great start to the week. I haven't been counting calories or posting my menu since I'm only a pound or two away from goal. The scale was at 126.5 yesterday and I really am sick of weighing everything and counting calories. All the yard work we're doing outside is keeping the fat away.
I like reading the menu's of those that post and Lynn, glad the exercise is paying off.
Later Gator.
P.S. yes, KarerFla, you did start something with the myers lemon trees. Those that don't think they have the climate, wrong. Our Minnesota weather doesn't allow us to plant it outside but safely inside using dwarf trees in pots.
Sorry about your friend Brenda.

Good Morning Everyone,

Lots of "to-do" list tasks to accomplish today. Nothing particularly interesting.

Have a great Monday,

Lynn, I’m so happy for you! Great job on the 3 pounds lost. You’re back in your groove. And I used to watch a cake decorator show for a couple weeks a few years back. It made me want to make decorator cakes again. Well, the scale didn’t like that. I think the Enjoi would work on face hair – darker hair that tends to be coarser than the blonde peach fuzz I have. Nothing takes it off, including waxing. And I’d never, ever use it near my eyebrows because I’d probably rip all the hairs out. I bought a wax warmer set and wax my eyebrows so I have control (at least some control) of the eyebrow arch.

Carol Sue, I thought of you as I used the Enjoi this morning. It had been 3 weeks and my legs needed it! I have the red corded one. I’d never buy a battery one again after the Braun lasted only about 9 months. It has a very long cord. I use it in my craft room where I have a comfy chair and my moveable sewing light so I can see what I’m doing. Also I have a fan in their (since my elliptical is in there) and I like it on low to keep my legs nice and dry. If the skin is moist, it doesn’t glide easily over the skin and that tends to hurt more. I wouldn’t use it in my bathroom because of the humidity after the shower. However, I think if you liked your bathroom for epilating, then I’d just grab an extension cord because the battery ones just aren’t as good.

KarenFl, I think you should send everyone a Lemon Tree. That would be wonderful. I’m glad I purchased Dwarf trees as 15’ would just be too high in my house. BTW, your hearing aides seem awesome. I take it they are not going back. at better living by chemicals. And I envy you swimming in your pool. Mine did not have a thin sheet of ice over it this morning. Most mornings it has.

Mary, I hope you keep calling your doctor’s office until he listens. I wouldn’t do the stress test without reviewing the head symptoms.

Gayle, I hope your work stress subsides some. How fun that you, your DH and Maddie went for a bike ride. Enjoy the nice weather before it becomes to hot.

Rosey, happy birthday to your cranky pants that brings you beautiful flowers. He is a keeper. My pack and I are so relieved that Gizmo is feeling much better.

Brenda, to you on the passing of your dear friend. I’m glad she didn’t suffer. Soon flowers of spring will b coming your way.

Andi, on the smell of onions while you’re mowing. I can’t even imagine mowing the lawn. Then again, our yard doesn’t grow much in the summer since it’s the desert.

Bobbi, I like the way we chat on this thread. The food and diet stuff I share on the challenge thread. That’s just my two cents.

This morning, DH and I took Sasha Joy back to the vet about her eye. It’s been 4 weeks and she’s still not well. BTW we’ve been in constant contact about her progress during the 4 weeks. This morning I told DH that she needed to be seen again. The diagnosis is she has glaucoma in her left eye. They couldn’t make the diagnosis 4 weeks ago because of an injury or there was so much pressure causing it to be so bad. At this point she can’t see in that eye. Our options are to go to a specialist and have surgery or treat with meds. I opted for meds and DH agreed. I said I just don’t want her in pain. So she’s on steroid drops and DH will pick her glaucoma med up later today when he goes to work. It had to be filled by a human pharmacy and the vet outing was too much for me and I wanted to go home. She has a recheck of the eye pressure a week from Saturday. My poor little girl is only 4 years old. Poor Sasha. Other than that, same old couch potato-ing going on here.

I called the doctor today about my head. I am feeling a lot better..no real spasms although I don't quite feel "right" and after I got home from the gym I felt kind of dizzy. It's not like the room is spinning, just a little dizzy feeling in my head and a slight headache. It comes and goes though and right now I'm not feeling it at all. So maybe it is just something minor that has taken a long time but is gradually passing, I don't know. Anyway the nurse called me back and assured me I should go ahead with the test. She did not talk to the doctor but I think he'd say the same thing. So I'm doing it Thursday. And I found out that it IS the treadmill I'll be doing. Dh is doing his next week as he wants to be here for the handy man who is coming to replace the wood on our house.

I can't have any caffeine for 24 hours before the test so no mochas! I've been trying to cut back anyway just in case it was the caffeine causing my head issues. So only had one yesterday. I honestly don't think there is much caffeine in my mochas but when I have them more than once I am more likely to go over in carbs too so I think it's good to cut back.

Marie - You are making me want to consider buying an emjoi too! I'm mostly wanting it for facial hair...lip and chin, however I might be interested in using it on my legs too if I like it. I don't shave my legs often except during the summer. Otherwise just about once a week or even less so it's not a big problem for me but I really really hate the facial hair. I didn't know dogs could get glaucoma! Seems like they can get a lot of the same things as humans poor things.

Andi - Glad you had a nice time with your family. Technology is wonderful, isn't it?!!

Rosey - Tell your dh Happy Belated Birthday! I bet he enjoyed your nice dinner.

Rosey/Glynne -Don't worry about me, I think I'm fine...just something I feel needs further investigation but doctor doesn't seem to be interested so maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing, I don't know. I do feel better today.

Dh went fishing so I'm alone and lazy today but hope to get a few things done still. Went to the gym and did some weeding but that's about it so far. Better get to it..

Hi everyone. It's not morning but almost bedtime, lol. I've been making cake decorations for a bake sale this weekend. We have a young man in town who has lost over 100 pounds and needs the loose skin on his stomach removed and has no insurance and the provincial insurance doesn't cover that surgery. So there is going to be a gospel concert with a bake sale following to help with his expenses. I'll be singing and decided to make a couple of cakes with an Easter theme. That darned buttercream icing is so good I could (and did) eat it by the spoonful. I got on the bike for a second time today to try and counteract the effects of the icing swallowing.

Marie, that quilt is so pretty. I used to do quilts but have decided I don't like doing them so I gave away most of my quilting things. I don't think you should have the buttercream icing recipe because you might have a downfall like I did today. Here's a link to the recipe I used if you really must have it, lol: http://www.crumbboss.com/drum-roll-b...-is-here-tada/

Bobbi, I don't do much on facebook. There's only so many hours in a day.

I'm trying to do this from memory so not much will be remembered.

Rosey and Ladysheets
, I don't have much spring here either. Actually, we have a winter storm warning for tonight and possibly part of tomorrow. It's looking like a Christmas card outside--snow falling and the trees are covered. The only bright ray is that it won't stay too long.

Ladysheets, so sorry about your friend. Yes, things change but we always miss our dear friends.

Gayle, your weekend sounded so nice with family. And a picnic in the park! Wow, right now we could have a toboggan party with all this snow falling.

Lynn, you have such an interesting life doing things like a cousins' reunion. I thinks that's such a wonderful thing to do.

Karen3, are Armadillos considered pests in Florida, or just at your house? Such strange animals (well to me they are).

Mary, I'm sure everything will go well with your stress test. My sister administers those at the hospital where she works.

Andi, are wild onions edible? I love onions.

Big to everyone.

Well, I did OK today food wise if you don't count the icing eating. I did do double on the bike to try and compensate (as mentioned above). The weekend wasn't too bad either. I had dessert (strawberry shortcake) but I only made one for each of us so there were no seconds. I also had a bag of chips (individual size) on Sunday for a treat but only had a little fruit for supper. This sounds like a confession, lol.

Supper: Half large pear

HI Golden Chicks-

I’m very tired today. Not sure why. Just can’t make myself go to the health club yet. Been busy with the remodeling. I was disappointed in the tile I picked out. It didn’t look like the sample. Had to do some changing of things. The cabinets won’t be ready for another week or two, yada, yada, yada. My shoulder with the bone spur is very sore today. I did a little work on the tile myself and am paying the price. I did decide to use the granite vanity top that we’re taking out of the master bath and reuse it in the upstairs bath. It was a few inches too long and needed to be cut down. DH wanted to replace everything up there which is unusual since he is normally frugal in that area. But as I realized that I’m not crazy about the tile that we are putting in the master bath, I also realized that I love the tile that is in the upstairs bath and the old granite would look good there. I had to convince DH that he could cut it himself. This is unusual too because there is not much that my DH doesn’t think he can do. I’m usually trying to convince him that some things are better left to professionals. (Like, he didn’t feel the need to make an extra trip to the doctor’s office to have some stitches removed years ago. He just removed them himself. I drew the line when my sons had stitches. I took them to the doctor myself.) Well, he cut that granite and it came out great.

Also, I haven’t lost any weight this week. I thought I was being good and I even got in a couple of days of exercise. I guess I’ve been over eating the “good stuff.” I hate when that happens!

Marie - the quilt you made is wonderful! Are the airplanes appliquéd? Sorry about Sasha’s eye. I hope the drops do the trick.

Mrslosingit - I meant to tell you - good for you on not binging. I got so wrapped up in my girl scout story…I didn’t think that I binged for a while but as previously mentioned, still haven’t lost weight.

Puneri - I’m sorry you felt dizzy. I don’t know what diet you’re on. Maybe you need a little protein in the morning? Or maybe you haven’t gotten enough fluids in you yet. After going all night without liquid, and then grabbing coffee, I find I need some water.

Brenda - very sorry about the loss of your dear friend. I have to learn how to do the little hug and kiss icons. But for now, XOXO.

Maryea - I hate feeling dizzy or just not right. I don’t suppose it could be low blood sugar or hypoglycemia? I use to get something like that when I needed to eat or drink. There was a time on a trip to San Francisco, walking up all those hills with DH and DS, I kept telling them I wanted to eat. DH kept saying, “One more block. There might be some place better.” I finally got b****y. It was a horrible feeling. Now, I try to always carry a bottle of water with me and maybe some nuts. If I start feeling "not right" I find a place to sit and drink some water.

Lynn - congratulations on your weight loss!

Okay. My old lap top bit the dust. This is my little net book which gives me trouble with the “word pad.” I managed to pull up or down load - not sure which, another program. If this works I’ll be kind of pleased with myself…not as pleased as if I had lost a few pounds though. That always perks me up!

Me again. I managed to send off my first (long, sorry about that,) message. Have to see if page 2 works and there are a few more personal I want to do.

Gayle - your day bike riding with DH and Maddie, picnic at the concert with everybody sounded lovely.

Lady - I love your strategy of telling people you're “allergic.” I know a woman who is always trying to push desserts or other evil things on me. She is allergic to a couple of food items. I think I’ll tell her I’ve developed an allergy to certain foods - the ones that make me fat! And I can’t watch any cooking shows, especially the cake/cupcake ones - I definitely start wanting them.

Rie - with 50 employees there is no way you could buy from all of their kids. My kids could never sell as much stuff as the kids whose parents had offices where they could sell stuff. My husband would usually take them a few blocks away to sell the wrapping paper, etc. It was a good experience. There was one house where a blind man would ask him to read some of the options, he always picked candy, would hand money to my son and trust my son (and DH) to give him the correct change. He enjoyed my son’s visits. It was sweet and a little sad.

Okay. Lets see if I can get this one sent. Doesn’t look like I’m going to make it to the gym. Maybe I can convince DH to take a short walk.. Hope you all have a great evening.

I've been feeling that I'm missing out on a lot by not being on Face Book. My DS has been discouraging me. I finally told him I'm going on - I don't expect you to "friend" me. What do you think?

Isabella,

Your "Bad Stuff" in your food log made me laugh. I am definitely going to add that line - will keep me honest.

Good evening GG's,

One day down ~ three to go. Got out only an hour late tonight ~ seems like a treat compared to those 2 and 3 hour late days.

Lynn ~ I liked Isabella's Bad stuff line too ~ I should, but would probably be embarrassed to own up to my transgressions.

Deelee ~ sorry you are feeling tired ~ hope you can get rested up and feeling better.

Isabella ~ I would struggle with leaving that icing alone too.

Mary ~ glad you are feeling better.

Marie ~ hope Sasha's eye gets to feeling better. How are you doing?

Lynn ~ always so busy. When do you leave on your cousins trip?

Bobbi ~ maybe there could be two threads ~ one for general chatter and one more food/exercise related. Just a thought. I enjoy both places ~ here and FB.

Ok, got some stuff to do. Better get to it ~ evening goes by fast.

Take care all

I just found out that Whole Foods sells PB2. The guy forgot to check the price but thinks it's about $6.99. With amazon prime (free shipping) I got it only 98 cents more on Amazon and free shipping. So didn't have to go out and no gas costs, but it is good to know it is available locally too. I'll check the price when I next shop there.

Also to those who mentioned it...my bs have actually been pretty good or a little high these days...so just about like usual and even better than I often am. So don't think thats my head problem.

Got a very nice text from my youngest dd...made me cry...that said I believe in love at first sight because I've been loving my mother since I opened my eyes when I was born! And she added I love you mommy. We mothers wear our hearts on our sleeves.. we love so much we are easily hurt and also get emotional at every recognition of love from our children! I believe in love at first sight too because I experienced it with everyone of my babies!

ETA: forgot to mention that 98 cents more price was for TWO jars of PB2!

Hi everyone. another sunny day here and lots of melting spent the day putzing around. we had car trouble yesterday, dead batterie, mad dh yikes. but we do have extended warrenty bumper to bumper,so called them this morning. they only dealer is anchorage which means a trip up and back. the service dept was so nice. they told us to check a light switch on the sterring wheel and if it was in the wrong position that would be the problem. sure enuff the dh checked it and everythings running fine now. but no more dogs jumping around in the front I like things as they are in 3fc's and facebook. i feel why change a good combo. we support each other and also discuss and share wgt issues. i feel thats why we are so successful. no change for me please. speaking of wgt, tho i have another product to recomend. i bought some of those kellogs cracker chips, you get 27 of them,lo fat and about the same carbs as a bread for 110 calories, they come in several flavors
and they are yummy and satisfy that craving for chips. try them. Maryea your words from your dd brought tears to my eyes and i feel the same about my girls and grkids. Lynn congrats on the 3# loss hoping your dreams are pleasant. rosey

breakfast
coffee
greek yogurt

lunch
1 small slice pizza

snack
coffee mocha
kellogs cracker chips

dinner
