  • happy saturday to you, too, ladyinweighting! you made some healthy choices foodwise yesterday.
  • Good morning!

I am a dork - I got up this morning looking forward to my workout. Mindlessly waited for the coffee and took my pills. Started to work out and got incredibly dizzy. DUH! I took all my meds - including blood pressure and diabetes meds on an empty stomach. I am lucky that I didn't pass out.

Ds is off to dgs school this morning for "Dad's Day". They ds has a wedding shoot today in a nearby town. I am planning to take dgs to see the Lorax.

The Wyoming (tee hee Marie) site visit went really well but I was happy to see them go. Two days of being attentive to 14 people made me weary.

Ciecie, Happy Saturday to you, too!

Lynn, your diet looks really good.

Gayle, sorry about your late night.... I hope you rested well, also.

Rosey, Hugs and good thoughts for Gizmo. I smiled at the image of you curled up with your pups.

Marie, you decorate cakes, too? Is there anything that you can't do? OK, I get it that you don't like to climb on the roof. Really, you impress me more and more! Proud of you for calling the dr. REALLY.

Isabella, I will post pictures of the rivel kouga when we make it next week. I still love how you say, "dinner" for the noonday meal - it is how I was raised. "lunch" was a snack - typically brought out to the fields as we worked, or a night time snack - "bed-lunch". Rural is rural, right?

Bobbi, I like to add real egg whites to egg beaters. I can't taste the difference when I am cooking. You are right, saves the calories... Bird seed on the porch???

Mary, I hope that your and Joe's stress tests are easy and have good results. I think sometimes an injury or a fall makes a person feel weak or lose confidence and feel more frail. You speak quite often about Joe's fatigue. It must be hard for him to slow down.

Freda, I consider cleaning to be like exercise - I don't necessarily like it but it sure feels good when it is over!

Donna, what are you reading this weekend? I am trying to decide if I should go to the Hunger Games movie but I know that I will be disappointed - I always hate the movies after reading the books.

    CaddyK, missing you.....

Karenfl, I just might have to consider a meyer lemon tree? Since Bobbi and Marie are talking about dwarf trees, can they grow in a big pot? I wonder if they would do ok this far north?

Zoe, how goes the battle? I hope little Micah is well on the way to recovery? I might join you in doing some part time consulting again. (I used to do it a few years ago) I probably will be doing some jobs in Wy. At this point, probably just facilitating some local work groups to help them with goal setting. It would be fun and the fishing is great there!

Sorry for missing some folks... not intentional - I am just forgetful and I can't scroll down any farther. Have a great Saturday!

    Rie
  • Quick Good Hola this morning!

Mary - here's a link for the persantine stress test, should either make you scared or make your mind easy... http://www.dh.org/body.cfm?id=334 We used them a lot when I worked for the cardiologist, but I've not heard of them requiring both the injection and the treadmill. The injection is supposed to mimic the effects of the treadmill on your heartbeat.

Isabella - no, the roof seems okay, and so I guess I can put off those renovations forever... which is what I like to hear. Mostly, I just need a forklift for the basement and then new paint throughout. I'd like to get the hardwood floors uncarpeted and buffed, but that requires moving furniture outside (my house is SMALL), and that ain't gonna happen.

Rie - I just opened a new Jodi Picoult book Handle With Care. As she's grown as a writer, her stuff is more involved and meaty... she can really get to me. Good writer (but not easy topics!)...

Since I'm just doing a drive by today, this is it for the moment. Happy Saturday, All........
  • Good Morning girls
We've had rain here and the grass is turning a brilliant green. Nothing going on here today, DH is making chicken stir fry tonight. He likes to cook plus he has a project for me. His hunting club needs two new weather proof signs and he wants me to make them. I asked him if he had the paint, stencils, etc. He said no, just make them the same way I made the garden tour signs. duh! Those were printed on card paper and covered with clear tape, nothing that will hold up for years. I'll be painting the words directly on the metal signs so he went to Walmart to get all the necessary items. That will tie me up for the day.
Donna...you can work around moving your furniture if you want to pull the carpet. Just move furniture to one side and start pulling. We cut our carpet up in strips, rolled up and tied for garbage truck. Once you get a section of carpet taken up, move the furniture over to that area and continue. You could have a hen party at your house with friends to help. Think how much fun it would be!
Lynn...thanks for the recipe, I printed it out. I'll use peanut oil instead of sesame and PB2 to cut the calories. We always use whole wheat noodles.
Rosey...sorry about gizmo, hope he's better today. The indulgence chocolate is tasty, I just put some on a tiny spoon and ate it. I'm not sure how much I dare eat since chocolate sets off migraines. I gave a teaspoon full to
    DH, he smacked his lips.
Marie...You make me curious about your weather, you have hummingbirds already? Or do they stay year around? I'm a tad ignorant about your area. I just asked DH and he said they have weather like Colorado springs since it's right across from them.
    Quote:
My hummingbirds aren’t bright. I’ve woken to snow three mornings in a row. But the feeders are going down like its summer. I just made them more food. That’s my sign that spring will someday arrive in the High Mountain Desert.
Rie...that's not a porch, it's a free standing deck out in the back yard, not attached to the house. We chose to have it built there so we could enjoy the shade garden.
    Quote:
    Bird seed on the porch???
I need to get started on the signs, later gators.
    Happy weekend everyone.

    Hi Bobbi,

If you are not going to eat the whole recipe at one sitting, you may want to make an extra batch of the sauce. I packaged mine into single portions & I just heated one up - TOO DRY! I will make some more sauce to use when I heat up the rest.

  • Mrslosingit - good for you - 9 days without binging. I hope tomorrow I can tell you, “one day - no binge.” How do you end your binge? I would be intereste3d in the smallest details...
Hi to everyone - keep suggestions coming. I'll be back later!

I actually developed a good strategy for the cute girl scouts that come to my door. I would definitely put gs cookies on my list of favorite things. I tell them that I can't buy them but I would like to make a donation. I give them a couple of dollars. And one time in front of a store, an adorable cub scout with a great presentation was selling boxes of micowave popcorn. I told him I thought he was a great salesman but that I can't eat popcorn but I wanted to make a donation. He and his dad were very pleased.
  • Rosey, I hope Gizmo is doing better. I bet he was relieved to see you this morning!

Gayle, getting out 3 hours late seems a little too much. Can’t the scheduler do a better job?

Ciecie, good job on your food choices Friday. Hope your weekend goes as well.

Rie, you are lucky you didn’t pass out. I’m glad you didn’t. A second trip to the Lorax, heh? It was enjoyable but I don’t think I’d go twice. But for a DGS, I suppose that would make the difference. BTW, I used to decorate cakes. Now I do about one a year. I have a problem of my fingers in the icing. I think Isabella and I shared this problem at Christmas. I gained a bit of weight while I was decorating a lot. It’s probably a good thing I don’t have the wrist strength to squeeze the icing from the baggie anymore.

Donna, perhaps the pretty lawnboys would be willing to rip up your carpet?!?!? Could be worth it. You could have a day of ogling.

Bobbi, we shouldn’t have hummingbirds year round but we do. One year, I accidently left a feeder out and in that January, we saw one eating from the feeder. I asked my sister (the expert) whether I should take it down and she said, no way – the birdie was dependent on it for its food. That winter, DH took a picture of it eating during a snowstorm. I emailed it to my sister since she didn’t quite believe it hadn’t flown south. Now we leave 2 feeders up all winter and change the food regularly. All winter it goes down a little at a time. They shouldn’t be here, but they are. Now though, the food is going down chunks at a time. I don’t know how to describe our weather. Have you ever been to Reno? It’s climate is also high mountain desert. Denver is similar as well from my fading memories.

Deelee, I love your way of not buying the GS cookies. Making a donation is a good idea.

I finished the quilt top and cut out the bottom today. If I were allowed to be up and about, I would have finished the thing. But I have to go slow. Tomorrow I’ll cut a piece of batting and pin it together. And probably stitch in the ditch. It is very bright and cheery. DH really likes it. I guess it will be done before the baby is born although my DIL said baby has dropped and she started dilating. For her sake I hope baby comes soon. For my sake I hope not since I wouldn’t be allowed to visit yet. Another week would be good.

  • Donna - I too love the smell of sheets dried outside, but DH says it makes them scratchy. I think that was the older sheets that needed ironing. Absolutely no one in my neighborhood hangs clothes out to dry.

Rosie - I'm glad to hear that you are regaining your mobility! That's a big step forward, literally!

Karen3 - I am curious about the wireless TV sound system. Is this something you use to watch TV that others can't hear? My hearing is down just a bit, and I require the TV sound just 1 notch above what DH requires. It makes him so angry when I ask him to turn it up. When he has it set for what's comfortable for him, I can hear the talking but can't make out what they're saying. I used to watch my soaps with CC but new TV doesn't have it.

Maryea - I am wondering if you had your stress test yet. The one you're having doesn't make you feel weird. The injection is just contrast so they can see your arterys better afterwards. The one that I get, they inject you with something that makes your heart think you are running. It feels like your heart is really pumping hard and that's the weird feeling. But just when you're really feeling it, it starts to subside, and you are back to normal in a few minutes. I don't mind it, but DH said he'll never do it again. He is very sensitive to weird feelings. The first one I had was the worst feeling, but it showed that I needed quadruple heart bypass surgery, so my heart was in pretty bad shape. The one's I've had since then have been minor by comparison.

I just saw Donna's link, and that explains it better than I did.
  • Marie - I looked at the Emjoi 72 online and although it is a bit pricy for my liking, the fact that it's recommended by someone who already has it is a big plus. I will give it some thought. The old one that I have around here somewhere is a Braun Silk Epil. There are several grades of them shown online. When I used mine before, it was somewhat painful, but I will try it again, if I didn't already get rid of it. The one that just broke was only $24 on QVC. I could order another one, but I am dissatisfied that it broke after 1 season of use. You get what you pay for. It was really gentle.
  • Rosey, I will definitely post pictures of it soon. Perhaps later today because I think I'm going to try to finish it. I am so glad gizmo is better. Kai hated the food the vet prescribed (by chance is Gizmo's Hills Prescription???) Since she hated it and had to eat because of low BS and seizures, I gave up quickly on it.

Carol Sue, I've always been a big believer in "You get what you pay for". I've had my Enjoi for nearly 3 years and I don't think it is near on the way to dying. Works as good as the day I bought it. My Braun Silk Epil one was more when I bought it four years ago. So thinking about the time that I haven't bought any shaving razors and stuff, I don't think the price was out of line. And I love removing hair only every 2-3 weeks. I really love that.
    Marie
  • i'm having a good sunday so far.
  • Hello Friends!

I was up late but I slept really late this morning Wahoo! 920! Usually, I am up with the sun no matter what time I get to bed. Yesterday I had adventures with dgs - sushi bar, movie, wii games at home. Even a trip to the tire store to repair a flat tire. (He loved that, I wasn't all that thrilled )

Yes, Marie, I would have skipped that movie but it was the only kids show in town. Not really worth sitting through twice. The popcorn was good, though Good girl on pacing yourself. I know that it is really hard for you.

Rosey, so happy that gizmo is back home with mama. I bet everyone is happy about it. How do you keep him from other food?

Carol, I also looked at the epilators.... unfortunately, I remember how those "yank it out by the roots" hair thingies feel. I'll stick to nair. But, I go through several bottles per year, plus razors. I think money spent on a gadget might be cheaper.

Mary, if you are on the treadmill for your stress test, I think that it is just contrast that they will be injecting. I had a stress echo last year and that is what they did. Be Well.

DeeLee, that's how I bought my girl scout cookies this year. I can't have them in the house. Actually, I am kindof known as a grinch in that regard at work. I have about 50 employees and I was going broke buying something from everyone's "kids". My current policy is that I buy from kids if the parent takes the time to bring the little one to me to make the sale. Just the pass-the-order-thingy around by the parent approach is not something that I participate in. Not that I am against it, but I have to draw a line somewhere. Crabby me!

Gotta go,,,, everyone have a great sunday.

    Rie
