This a pic I just took, of my Milky, sleeping against his sister, Oatmeal.

glynne 01-26-2011 08:29 PM

Hello all,

I made another sort of a concoction tonight. I took a small potato and steamed it. Then heated some frozen green beans and a little chunk of ham. Added that to the potato and put that vinegar and olive oil salad dressing on that. It tastes pretty good. If I can come up with some more quick and easy things like that ~ it will help me have something besides the frozen dinners. The frozen dinners (Lean Cuisines, Healthy Choice and Weight Watcher's Smart Ones) are handy when the day doesn't go as planned and I need something quick, but I don't want to be eating them all the time.

I'm thinking maybe I can do this with some purple cabbage, chicken chunks and green beans with that vinegar and olive oil dressing. Or tuna, onions and peas with that dressing. I like colorful food combos.

My fruit salad made me feel like Karen3. I tried Beano and GasGone, but they didn't help. Gotta figure something out. Not so bad when I get that way at home, but it is a problem at work :o

Looking forward to tomorrw. No errands, meetings or whatever to have to go out for. Have plenty here to keep me busy and look forward to getting at some of it.

Hope you all are having a nice evening.

Take care

NC Nancy ~ Oatmeal and Milky look so soft. Neat names. The cake wasn't a bakery one ~ one of the young nurses at work made it. It was yummy ~ I am thankful my friend shared the piece with me. Sweets are my biggest downfall. I asked how she got the frosting so smooth ~ somehow she used waxed paper ~ I didn't totally understand what she did but her creations are beautiful. Here a picture of another one she made.

It's been a nice day. We are now in Indio where the weather is great. It got a little breezy this afternoon but it's not dusty here as it was at the last place. We did some shopping at Costco and shared a slice of pizza there. Stopped at a couple stores on the way home but otherwise we have stayed home.

I am trying to watch my carbs but that's about it right now. My dh keeps bringing back goodies from the clubhouse, or the store and we eat out a little more often than we do at home. But I do cook healthy meals most nights. It's just that I'm getting way too many calories most days. At least , walk quite a bit....a morning walk plus to the dumpster, bathroom (here we don't have full hookup) and clubhouse. That's what I love about RVing...we are outdoors more. I have had fun watching the roadrunners here.

I have a good connection (through Verizon) in my RV but I am limited to 2 G which is actually quite a bit. I don't care much for browsing on my little netbook anyway so it's been fine.

Hope you all have had a good day.

MORE SNOW + THUNDER & LIGHTNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I will ever see the asphalt driveway again!

Nancyoyo 01-26-2011 10:18 PM

KarenMO & Gayle, thanks for the compliments on my kitties. Yes they are soft, but have very different fur. Milky’s is long & silky, & Oatmeal’s is short & thick. And I’m sure they do love each other, but a lot of the time they don’t even stay in the same room. I think right now, Oatmeal is happy to have Milky almost back to his old self, so she’s staying around him more than usual.

Gayle, that cake is beautiful! You’re killing me with those pictures! Thank goodness I don’t have any cake in the house! Yikes! I do have cake mixes, & a can or two of frosting. Naw, it’s too late for baking, & that would take way too much effort, so I should be ok.

Lynn, sorry you’re having so much snow (but it does look pretty). Beautiful cats. Which one is Hermione (how do you pronounce that?), & which one is Harry?

Mary, it’s nice that your weather is good. And great that you’re getting to get out & walk a lot. Wish I could, I do sorta like to walk, but it’s been too cold here.

Goodnight G.G.s,
NCNancy

Karen31 01-26-2011 10:24 PM

Oh My Goodness Lynn! Look at all that snow!! I guess I have no reason to complain about our winter this year.. We've had cold temps but only about 4 inches of snow total all winter --- so far!
I don't think I've ever seen pictures of your babies either. They are both very pretty. Is the one all white? I would be lost without my "furbabies"

I'm back.

Since I found out I can do this, I had to show you pics of my babies when they were tiny. They were born April 14, 2010. These are from when they were 5 days old (the CD case is to show their size),& 26 days old (this is 2 separate pics I combined).

Karen31 01-26-2011 10:36 PM

NCNancy--so cute! I remember when mine had kittens the first time years ago--it was in the middle of the night and I was bouncing around like a proud grandma!!! My hubby said "go to sleep!!" They just don't get as excited about things like that!

glynne 01-26-2011 10:38 PM

Nancy ~ I'm sorry ~ I didn't mean to cause you temptation with the cake picture. I thought about that after I did it. I wasn't trying to derail anyone. I just wanted to show how creative and talented this young woman is.

I left my glasses in the other room ~ so, I will have to check out your kitty pictures tomorrow.

Good night everyone.

maryea 01-27-2011 05:41 AM

Slept about an hour and then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so finally decided to get up and go online for a while. My dh had set out the scale (he weighs before bed and then again in the am) so I stepped on it and whoa, I am ashamed to say that my weight is up 12 lbs from what it says in my signature!! This is ridiculous! I have to get a handle on it! So I am determined to start back being more careful tomorrow and hope I stick to that as by morning my weight may be a little lower. I feel ok but I hate the way I look when I am this heavy plus I know (when I'm thinking right!) that it is not healthy for me.

So, I'm planning my food for tomorrow. It won't be easy as we are eating out for lunch again.

Don't know how many of you RV/camp, but maybe some of you can relate. We don't have full hookup at this site. It's a beautiful modern resort but they are pretty full right now so we got put in the no-hookup area and we can't change so we are here for the full two weeks. We've done it before without much problem...the restrooms are very close and we go over there to potty and shower. Anyway, I thought I was being SO careful with washing dishes to not let the water run, well, despite my best efforts our back tank is full and the guys don't come around until tomorrow (Friday) to pump us out. They come 3 x week so that should be good, but we came here on Tues with empty tanks so didn't get pumped out today. So we have decided to use paper plates and I'm washing (very quickly!) what dishes I have to in the bathroom sink. So far the front tank is ok but we have to be careful or it will fill up too.
And because of this my dh wants to eat out today to help with all this. I'ts been a long time since we didn't have full hook-ups and I have gotten spoiled I guess. Friday can't come soon enough, LOL!!

Guess I'd better try and get a little more sleep...I went to bed early and now here I am wide awake!:dizzy:

Lynn, eiuuu! I can't believe how irresponsible your dentist was, to be working that closely with people, with the FLU! He should be drilled with no anesthetic! I do hope you remain flu-free! And I love the names of your kitties... and speaking of which, is the new movie out and have you seen it yet? And congrats, big time!, on your loss... you're doing so well!!
Everyone, thanks for your good wishes and wonderings about Aunty Ann. She went to the doc yesterday and has a bladder collapse, and it was poking out of places it had no business being. I'm sure it was terribly uncomfortable... and very scary for her!... but the doc said they would not do any kind of repair surgery, due to her age. The poor soul! She's getting so frail! My mom is nearly 88, and she's deteriorated in the last six months, too... She still lives alone, and I worry about her falling. She's so wobbly and so STUBBORN.

Hi Donna,
About my dentist – when I first started going to him, he was adorable – looked a LOT like Michael J. Fox. He has always been quite a ladies man & a flirt. About 5 years ago, he got divorced & married a VERY young girl. Since then, he has had all kinds of injuries & illnesses. Maybe his first wife ended up with the best deal!
So sorry to hear about your aunt & your mother. I know what you mean. I have 3 folks in my life who are near 80 & having LOTS of physical and mental problems. Scary.

My sis called last night and said that my nephew was LESS responsive during the day yesterday than he was a few hours after the surgery. According to the docs, there is probably some (brain) swelling AS A RESULT OF the surgery, and that it should (hopefully) be temporary. She is still a wreck (naturally) and I'm a bit freaked out myself, but holding on to the fact that he's had a number of near misses over the past five or so years, and has come back from some pretty bad situations. The boy is a fighter.
40 degrees Bunti? Sounds like a tropical heat wave to me! I think this is the worst winter we've had in these parts for quite a few years. It seems to snow every third or fourth day. It's been just relentless. I think that most New Englanders have about had enough, now. It's be nice if the weather gods got the message. Z

Hi Zoe,
Glad to hear you will be working from home. I am so sorry to hear about your nephew.
About the weather – I just saw something on the Weather Channel about this winter being the most snow in the Northeast since they started keeping records. I remember higher accumulations in particular storms, but NEVER so many snow occasions.

Hi Karen,
Two of my cousins are retired nurses. One of them works with a nursing board that sets standards for nurses. She says that new nurses are now learning less than when she went to nursing school 50 years ago. I know what you mean about time with patients. In our local hospital, you rarely actually see the nurse. Mostly nurses’ aides.
However, that being said, when I have been in the hospital, the nurses have always been a LOT more helpful to me than have the doctors.

Here are just a couple more pictures of two very spoiled pomeranians! Can you tell I have fun with them??

Hi Karen,
I HATE this new thing of having to go onto the internet and print out manuals. For my photo class, I am supposed to get a copy of my camera’s manual. I have been trying all week. If/when I finally get access to a printable copy, I will have to print out a 200 page document.
Do your babies actually suck on pacifiers or did you photoshop those pictures? Are they cute enough?

Hi Gayle,
I have a chicken/cabbage/ramen noodle salad recipe that I think you will like. I will put it in our recipe thread.
I’m with you about sweets. That cake is beautiful and would be too tempting for me to resist.

Hi Nancy,
Harry and Hermione (her-mine-knee) are names from the Harry Potter books/movies. Harry is mostly white, skinny, and larger – Hermione is gray and white, little, and chubby.

Harry has a few spots of gray, but is mostly white. I agree – my life at home was pretty empty until I adopted them.

Hi Nancy,
They were so cute!!!!!!!!! I didn’t get mine until they were 2 years old, so no baby pictures to share.

Hi Mary,
You have lost it before and you will lose it again. When I fall off the wagon, I start back by changing one thing at a time. Pick one thing you can do to start your weight loss & when you are comfortable with that, add another thing.

ellabella 01-27-2011 09:13 AM

More snow. Why?
I hate this.

The world is white & gray.
I LOVE everybody's kitty pictures. I would post pictures of Yoko, Daisy and Turtle (Little Kid) but I'm too lethargic to try reducing them and getting them attached. Do you know that there has been more snow in the northeast this year than there has EVER been during a single winter since they STARTED KEEPING RECORDS? And it isn't over yet.
I wish, wish, wish that I could talk my children all into moving someplace warm. I just couldn't move away from my twinnies and their sis and their cousin....I can't give up the time we have with them. Otherwise, we'd already be looking at affordable properties on underdeveloped tropical islands, trust me.
I think we must've had another foot of snow last night. I can't bear to check the weatherfools for an actual number. Just looking out the window is depressing enough.
They are opening our office at 10:00. These are some driven fools that I work for. I'm scheduled to be there for a meeting at 1:00. I'm undecided whether to go or not.
Have I mentioned how much I am HATING this weather??? I'm going to hop over to Ebay and see what they might have for sunlamps.
Back later, hopefully more pleasant.
