Hi everyone I missed, gotta get shakin'.
Crabby Maxine says today: "I just visited my podiatrist...told him he might as well check my boobs while he's down there." |
Glynne....it's 6.5 oz., 15 servings of 2 Tablespoons after mixed with water.
|
Weigh in day today - I've lost 1 pound :) :) :) Now that I have been concentrating on proper food and enough water for 4 weeks it's time to add another mini-goal. ( They don't have to be weight related do they??) I hate exercise - and this month I will add at least 2 days of exercise to each week - for those who have told me it must be at least 3 days or there is no benefit :club: no one will convince me that finally moving my (rather large) butt twice a week, after doing nothing for so long is not going to do me some good! Have a wonderful day everyone :)
|
Bobbi, I love your hibiscus. Do you plant them outside in the summer time? I have some but nevr brought them in. Do you just take a cutting?
|
Such a pretty plant, Bobbi. Cheerful, even.
So, I left my house at 6:30 this morning and got to work at 9:30. The Mass Pike, which we PAY, incidentally, to drive on, was in horrendous condition; looks like we got a couple of inches of snow overnight (wasn't predicted) and guess what....it's STILL snowing. Not a plow or sander on the 'Pike, tho. The weather G.D. fools said snow "showers" today on and off, but no accumulation. Hello? Anybody look outside at that weather station? The snow is actually coming down faster and thicker. AND we have another BIG storm predicted for tomorrow late afternoon/evening, with accumulations of another FOOT or more. I don't know where we're going to put it - the side streets (including the one I live on) are all already down to one lane. If another car is coming towards you, one of you has to either pull into someone else's driveway or back up. This is really not a lot of fun, GG's. Okay, so it was another nasty commute, and I'm SO sorry for coming here all negative and whining and all lately, but I guess I'm going to have to find myself a tanning center and GO there, because I already take a vitamin D supplement, but it just can't seem to balance out all this horrific weather and white-knuckled driving. PLUS...okay, are you ready for this? This morning...well, I think you all know that dh drives our dgd to school every morning. (The dgd who is sister to the twins). Well, we had a bunch of those individual jellos in the fridge that I bough when dh had the GI virus. They've been sitting in there taking up space ever since, and this morning, I told him to bring them over to dd's for the boys. So, now fast forward to me sitting in traffic trying to get off the 'Pike...the off ramp bottlenecks from 5 to 3 lanes, and there are a couple more off ramps from adjacent highways, so essentially, 10 lanes of traffic are attempting to converge into 3 lanes. This can be unpleasant when the weather is sunny, and there isn't an obstruction in sight. But in rain, or worse, snow....the traffic just backs up and pretty much sits there. And it did that this morning, but I cheered myself up by thinking about having my nice bowl of hot oatmeal with fresh blueberries in it once I got to the office. Reached over to pat my lunchbag, and feel grateful for it when I discovered that dh had put the bag full of jello next to my pocketbook on the dining room table instead of my lunch! Omigawd!!!! :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tant rum::tantrum::tantrum: I mean, this is JUST what I needed this morning, right? So now, not only am I late, stressed beyond belief, and half-mad with frustration, but now I have no breakfast or lunch! (Yes, I can go OUT...in the snow...and buy myself something, but it's hard to find healthy at a Pizza shop, which is about the only place close enough in this weather. Oh, Lynn....you KNOW I read your post to the end, right? Oddly, dh said to me the other night that he doesn't think I really realize just how much stress I really am under with the long commute and demanding work schedule. I'm afraid I may have snapped his head off in reply, but it IS true. I'm figuring (I guess) that if I can just get through the next couple of months, the weather will improve, school will be out, there will be less traffic, AND I have 25 vacation days, 3 personal days, and about 25 sick days that I can use over the next 11 months. THEN, before the weather starts acting up again NEXT year, I will be retired. I think I can make it through the end of this year.(I'll take a ton of vitamin D, Freda!). Actually, speaking of vitamin D, MS researchers have determined that MS patients have vitamin D deficiencies. My dd takes a huge dose of it every day. So far, with that - and her other supplements, and her MS medicine, PLUS her very restrictive diet - she has stayed well since that first exacerbation that she had. I got a call from my sister's son-in-law yesterday to tell me that my nephew (sis's son) had a stroke the night before last. Some of you will remember that he is the one who was diagnosed with a malignant, inoperable brain tumor several years (6?7?) back. He's had several rounds of chemo, radiation, and was doing well - even back to work - for awhile. Just lately he's been experiencing vertigo, and his eyelid has been drooping, and he had the stroke. I understand that they did surgery to reduce pressure in his brain, and that while he is comatose at this point, and on life support, there is some expectation that he will survive. I spoke briefly with my sister who is, of course, beside herself, and I guess that when her dd & sil have to go home, she would like me to come down (to NC) to be with her. He's in Missions Hospital in Asheville. So, it looks like I'll be headed down there in the not-too-distant future. Not the carefree "sister's vacay" that we like to do, but at least we'll be together. And, now that this oh, so cheerful post is coming to an end, let me just say that next time I post, I'll try to be more upbeat. I know nobody wants to hear all this whining. :grouphug: Z |
Good morning....Just stopped in to give you all another karen's laws.
"It is not whining to come here for support". That's what GG do best and everything that affects our lives affects our ability to continue on this journey. karen3 |
Good Morning, All...
Lots of newsy posts this a.m.! PT/Zoe, you poor baby! Anytime you want to visit the Tropics aka Denver, you're most welcome! I don't know what y'all did to deserve this (have you asked Pat Robertson?............. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-b..._b_801755.html), but MamaNature has it in for you, for sure! I hope your nephew is okay!! Bobbi, I've never noticed a bad smell from cabbage! I make that "kitchen sink" soup occasionally, too, the one with all the V-8 juice and any kind of veggie you happen to have getting soft in the refrigerator (except that greens tend to get slimy and oogie in the broth!)... it makes a TON, though, and I end up tossing it out after eating it daily for 23 days. KarenFL, your German dinner made my mouth water! Sounded WONDERFUL!! NCNancy, how's Milky this fine morning? My SamCat sends him/her sympathy ear rubs... Bobbi, I snorted at Maxine's podiatrist offering! Too funny... and so true! I just roll up "the girls" now before I attempt to stuff them into a bra. Thanks for the visual! Now for a Pollyanna moment: I was watching a Joel Osteen show last night, and he talked about how a piece of grit is the irritation to the oyster that eventually gets "worked" into a pearl. I have the analogy that every time I want to go OP and indulge, that's the grit... if I can get past the momentary irritation, I will eventually turn into that lustrous pearl (with non-sagging boobies?)... That's my thought for the day! Lately, I've needed some extra motivation (or any motivation), because Skittles are ruling my life! Glynne, I just noticed that you're in Houston... my niece and her family just moved to Katy. They seem happy there! I hope everyone is having a good day! Onward! Everyone, be safe! |
Just getting ready to head out for some shopping but wanted to say "Donna, step away from those skittles"!!!! And don't buy any more. You can't eat it if it's not there!

I may be sorry I went to the dentist this morning. He had a BAD case of the flu! Luckily, it was mostly the hygienist who cleaned my teeth, but he checked them. He wore a mask & gloves, but I still tried to NOT breathe.
We are supposed to get MORE SNOW tonight. ARGHHHHHHHHHH! I know, I know, my area is not the worst, I have no right to complain – HOWEVER, I am SICK of SNOW! Let’s all think SPRING! Hi All - Well, I faced the "dreaded" scale today& found I lost 2 pounds this week! That makes 6 pounds in total! I like the mini goals that Tea Granny is doing. I'm working on doing the same thing..........the big picture is overwhelming for me. So I hope for a pound a week & anything more is a real bonus. Plan on getting back to aqua fit tomorrow; depends on the roads. No more snow in the near forecast so no excuses, eh? Love this site! Catch you all later!

Hi G.G.s,
Just had to share, seems like my bad luck is finally changing! First, & most important, my Milky cat continues to get better. Yay! He’s sitting in my lap, purring, right now. Yay! again. Next good news, earlier today, I had to make a call to the main office of the company SO works for, & the person I needed to talk to actually answered the phone herself, on the second ring! I was so shocked, I almost dropped the phone. When I could speak, the first words out of my mouth were “Wow, a real person!” She just laughed. I found out we wouldn’t have to make a special trip to the Dr.’s office, & pay their $15 fee, to have them fill out some papers (then another trip there to pick them up). She was real nice, & just took the info from me. Then, later this afternoon, we got a call from the company that handles SO’s 401K. We had been trying to find out if we could get a loan on it, to help us out until he gets back to work. After about a month, & numerous phone calls, we hadn’t been able to get an answer, & just gave up. Well, they were calling to let us know it’s been approved, & the check is supposed to be on the way. I just feel like a huge weight has finally been lifted off my shoulders! With all this good luck today, we almost feel like we won the lottery! Anyway, I’ve been unloading about all the bad stuff here, so I just couldn’t wait to let you know about the good. Thanks for being there, Golden Girls! NCNancy |
Hi again,
I just now read all the posts, because I just had to share my good news with you first. Milky (& I) want to thank everyone, both 2-legged & 4-legged, for all the well-wishes (& ear rubs). They seem to be working! Zoe, I hope my good day rubs off on you. Sounds like you could use one, that, & lots of sunshine! I sure hope your nephew will be ok. Tea Granny, Good for you on the one pound loss! Yay! And, Laffalot, 2 pounds lost is great! Yay! for you. Rosey, you know you’re going to be losing a bunch more weight, so, positive thoughts, & hang in there! That’s enough for tonight, my typing finger is tired. NCNancy |
Good Evening,
I'm glad NC Nancy that things are turning around and some good things happened today. Glad Milky is feeling better. Laffalot ~ congratulations on the 2# loss this week. The aqua fit sounds fun. Rosey ~ hang in there ~ that plateau will pass. I bet you could ride a granny cycle and I think you would love it too. Lynn ~ hope you don't get sick from that dentist. Hope also that spring is right around the corner for you. Donna ~ you brought a smile to my day with your description of "rolling up the girls before stuffing them into a bra" Zoe ~ Oh my ~ I will be glad for you when the weather gets better so it doesn't take you so many hours to get to work. Hope your nephew is doing ok. Bobbi ~ thank you for the PB2 info. Your plants are so pretty. Tea Granny ~ Congrats on the pound lost and great idea of the mini-goal of exercise. Freda ~ I got one of those chair pads (for my bicycle seat) with the stuff on the back that keeps it from sliding ~ then I also used your idea of the duct tape to hold it on. Without the tape I was having do do what Karen FL described about her chair cushion and jump up to sit down. So, when that sun comes out ~ I'm ready to roll :D Gonna post this before I lose it then do some more. |
