Good evening,

Welcome Bernice ~ glad you found us ~ looking forward to getting to know you.

I met up with another grandma over in the introduction section ~ invited her here ~ hope she comes over :)

Karen ~ glad you had nice temperatures today.

Rosey ~ sorry your me time was cut short. Look forward to when you post that recipe and getting to try it. Sounds yummy. I had the same situation when I asked for recipes from my grandma :)

Lynn ~ I'm sure you'll get your camera figured out ~ hang in there.

Bobbi ~ I joined 3FC in 2000 and I think I have read that it started even before that.

I've done puttery things and some mending today. It was a real nice day here ~ so I got to take a bike ride. I feel a little guilty telling that knowing that some of the rest of you are wanting to be rid of that white stuff.

Back to work tomorrow.

Hope you all are having a nice evening.

Take care

Hi you all.....If Monday I did a happy dance tonight I am really stomping up the boards. We came in first out of 27 tables. What a great week I've had...Our son's book is now listed on Amazon.com even thro it won't be released until 2/20. He has sold his first novel. Won twice big at bridge and another 2 lbs gone. Plus agreed to run for place on board of directors. Plus cooked a fabulous meal for company.....Being happy this time a year is scary!

Tea/Karen...wow on weight loss....good job!

Rosey...the picture of you and the dog is so sweet. Ouch on the burn. I've had canning jars crack when adding hot stuff years ago when i canned. Hopefully it melted some excess fat!!!!!

Mistymon-Bernice... welcome Where are you in Fl and where is home in NJ?

Lynn...we all admired your pictures that were all wrong. Wonder how much gooder they can be right?

Bobbie...I'll try to do the chickpeas tomorrow. Made fresh strawberry/egg custard pie this morning before I left. Had 1" piece and the rest is in the refrig calling me. Hope your baby is okay. Guess you're lucky he didn't roll in it.

Phew...all of a sudden am exhausted....hugs, karen3

Well, the Honey Wagon came today but not until after lunch and we waited all morning for it and didn't get in our walk as we thought it would be here sooner. But anyway we are all set now and have to be careful until Monday when it comes again.

I am really enjoying our time here though. Because of the fact that it may be our last RV trip, I'm intentionally trying to really enjoy it and being here with my dh. He will be 76 in April...I hope we still have many years together but I want to treasure every moment I have with him cause you never know when it will end.

We went to the store for a few items and had to go to three different stores to find any peanut butter like what I'm used to! Joe says "you're sure picky about your peanut butter!" but I can no longer stand the kind with sugar but I also don't like the kind with the oil on top as it's too hard to stir. I like Adams No Stir but they don't seem to sell it down here and I couldn't find anything even similiar until I got to Smart & Final...I got the Sun Harvest brand...maybe their store brand?...not sure. I hope it's good.

Well I said no more sunflower seeds, but my dh bought me some today...thought I'd be happy...as I hadn't told him I was giving them up.LOL But I did divide the package up into one serving sizes so hopefully I'll be good.

Tonight dh is grilling hamburgers and asparagus (drizzle with olive oil and salt). We will also have beans. Sounds so good to me!

Hi G.G.s,
Just checking in. Nothing much going on here tonight. Milky’s continuing to improve. He seems more like his old self every day. It’s amazing what antibiotics can do for a sick cat! It’s been sunny & almost warm here today, & supposed to be nicer tomorrow. I’ve already told SO we’re going to get out & do a little walking tomorrow, while we can!

Well, just want so say hi to the new girl Hi! Bernice. And congratulations to KarenMO for the 1.8 pounds lost, & to Tea Granny for being able to wear that belt & get up off your knees without help, & to KarenFL for your big wins at bridge & 2 more pounds lost & your son's book (boy! do you sound happy!). Way to go girls!
And, poor Rosey, I hope your burns aren’t toooo painful! And weren’t you home alone? You be careful!

I don’t want to spend all evening typing (I’m still slow, slow, slow), so Hi! to everyone else, & bye for tonight.

Being stuck inside bc of the snow - too much snacking - not getting to gym - are all taking their toll. I am back up to 150 this morning! Seems like only yesterday I had hit 147.

Oh well - back to gym this morning. Unfortunately, MORE SNOW predicted for today. I am planning a VERY low-calorie day today. Hopefully, when I weigh in tomorrow morning for the BL Challenge, I will be down again.

Good Morning, All..
Nothing much to say today, just a "hi"!

Along with all your soups, do any of you like Wendy's chili? I think I posted the recipe a while back... and it's delicious and tastes exactly like the restaurant version. With lean meat and no added salt, the per serving calorie count is around 250. I love it on these chillier days! One batch supposedly serves 6, but I get probably 10 meals out of it. Yum!

Rosey, I hope those burns are okay! I'm glad your DH got home... and did he bring home any game? The baby's name is darling! So cute!

Everyone, nada, so I'll heigh off for now... all is status quo here, dry, warm, and DRY... Everyone, thaw out and be safe!

Tea Granny 01-29-2011 11:02 AM

Going to go do my exercise DVD - it gives the parrots something to stare at...sigh...:) That will make 3 times this week and my aim is for twice - so yay me :)

Karen31 01-29-2011 11:37 AM

Good Morning! Well, it is already like 50 degrees here! I wish it would stay like that but I know next week we really have some cold weather coming in. I put in my time with the Wii this morning and now it is time to face the day! I was going to jump in the shower now but think I will wait just a little bit-- Ginger and Sissy both need baths and this is a nice warm day to get that done. So I think the shower can wait 'til after that! BUT NOT MUCH AFTER!! Pretty sweaty this morning!

Rosey, sure hope your burns are OK. That's pretty scary!

Tea--what exercise video do you use? I have almost all of Leslie Sansone and I like her a lot. I also have the wild and crazy Richard Simmons! They are fun to do once in awhile too.

Well, better get off of here or nothing will get done! Have a great day!!

Bunti 01-29-2011 01:24 PM

Morning everyone.

Rosey I hope you are okay. That is scary.

Jess, where would I find the chili recipe you're talking about?

Hope everyone is doing well, we are having a bit of a cold snap here, 11 degrees, but it could be worse, and there is no new snow, wahoo!! I have to work today, so am getting up the nerve to go out and defrost the car. (DH started a project in the garage and I had to park outside, and forgot to plug in the car)

DS is out skiing, DH is sleeping, I am sipping my coffee and checking in on the boards. I had a 1.8 pound loss this week, and wasn't hungry. Sometimes its the little things that are the nicest, and right now I am enjoying the moment.

Have a terrific day everyone.

Karen31 01-29-2011 02:34 PM

Bunti---Congrats on the 1.8 pounds gone! That is what I lost this week! I just hope to be able to continue to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week and if I lose more--that will be great!

maryea 01-29-2011 03:23 PM

Today we walked to Albertsons probably a little more than a mile both ways. So got my exercise but haven't been doing as well with my calories and carbs. Seems like I'm very hungry even though I eat healthy most of the time. Sat outside and read for a while ...tryng to stay out of the kitchen. :-) But in the sun is worm but now and then a breeze comes and it's pretty cool even though I think it's in the 70s. I know you who are in snow probably think this is nothing...but we come down here for the sun.

Dinner was so good last night....the burgers my dh grilled were great and so was the asparagus. Tonight I am fixing a vegetable lasagna. Not sure how well my dh will like it but I like to cook vegetarian at least once a week.

Hope you all are having a good day.

ladyinweighting 01-29-2011 04:24 PM

Guess what! It is SNOWING Again!

ellabella 01-29-2011 04:56 PM

Hola. Spent all day yesterday in Great Barrington, MA, which is a beautiful little town in the high Berkshires, very ski and snow-sport oriented, with very old and quaint inns and such...it was a pleasant, not-too-cold day, with a steady kind of dry, light snow blowing through the air, but not settling on anything or causing any grief on the roadways. I attended a seminar in the morning, and then had a very pleasant lunch with the executive director of one of our community centers in the Berkshires - we took a nice walk down Main Street and he showed me some buildings that he'd like to acquire to turn into classrooms - computer learning centers and what not. Not a bad idea. I'm giving it some serious thought....to recommend to the powers-that-be, that is.
I'm researching various sun lamps/light therapy lamps...I'm feeling somewhat less miserable, but have to acknowledge, I think, that seasonal affective disorder isn't just some designer diagnosis for those with nothing better to think about, but is, in fact a very real sort of disorder that requires some treatment if it gets bad enough. And, I think I've about gotten there...to where it's bad enough, I mean.
Time, I guess <sigh> to set up an appointment with my PC. :(
Went grocery shopping today and bought more ingredients for those heavenly black bean burgers (Thanks again, PT!) and also a small spiral ham so that I can use the leftovers in a nice, hearty split pea soup. I haven't weighed myself this week (you KNOW how I am about that!) but I'm feeling less bloaty, which is always a good sign. Waistbands loosening up, that sort of thing. Good, good. I feel that spring is coming. I can feel myself waking up slowly but steadily.
Mary, those walks will pay off. I do envy your footloose and fancy free lifestyle. DH and I have been talking more and more about doing a grand tour once I retire. Or a couple of grand tours. There are a lot of STATES that I have never been to, and a load of countries, too. Some I guess I don't need to see, but I would like to see what's around our own country - take a road tour - and Mexico...and Paris...and Athens...and Sydney....LOL....may not get to them all, but it's nice to think about, and hopefully I'll manage at least some of that itinerary.
Karen31, I am applauding you, my dear! :cp: You are really doing it, aren't you!!!!! REALLY awesome. Keep up the good work, now, you hear?
Hey, Bunti. Cold snap, eh? Us, too...we've had a cold snap that's lasted about 4 weeks straight, now. Can't really call it a "snap" anymore, now, can we? More like the "great freeze of '11"....I actually think we've made it into the record books for inches of snow in January...more, I hear, here in the northeast than we've had since they started keeping records. Kewl, eh? (Yup, very.)
Congrats, Tea. Good going. Hope the birds enjoyed it, too. ;)
I'll have to check out that chili recipe, PT...my dh is a native of Houston, and thinks he knows all there is to know about chili. Do the native Houstonians still brag about their chili, Gayle?
Lynn, snow, snow, and more snow. Yeah. When you're stuck inside, I think the tribal instinct kicks in and you want to hunker down by the fire and chew on a buffalo haunch or something. Of course, in OUR case, it's usually hunkered in front of the TV munching on something we have no need to be munching on. But I don't worry about you...I've never known anybody with such determination!
Glad Milky's better, Nancy...and I hope the weather stays good in NC, since it looks like dh & I will be heading down there on Thursday. My girls are flying into Asheville on Friday night.
Nice hearing you all bubbly and happy, Karen3.....sometimes life just kinda goes right, y'know? SO nice when that happens!
Omigosh, Rosey! SO sorry to hear about your accident with the Mason jars! I wouldn't have expected that, either! Hope it's healing well and easily.
Welcome, Bernice.
Oh, YES, Bobbi...about the Stevia (or Truvia) being a better sweetner than aspartame! Nancy, please stop using that! They've found all sorts of things - side effects - from it. Check it out online. (I used to use Sweet n' Low all the time...about fell over when I started reading up on what all this stuff can cause. Please be careful.
Hiya Laff...
Freda, wherefore art thou?
How's the Cape, Lyn? We actually are above freezing today. Looks like we'll have a little weather break until it snows again on Wednesday.
Enjoy your weekend, everybody!

Arrrrrrrrrrgahhhh....I looked back to see when I admitted to lossing DH's Christmas present. 12/16/10. Guess what i found in a bag in another bag on top of the dryer. Have no idea how it ever got there. Absolutely a troll's mischief! Gave it to Dh should have saved for valentines day.....

That strawberry pie is still in the refrig. Used splenda to sweet/juice the berries so DH can have tonight. Considering that for my whole life egg custard is my favorest thing. Even the wiggly consistence makes me glad. That wee piece yesterday which I ate with a tiny fork has satisfied me. Maybe I have finally turned a corner on this endless trek.

Lynn...quick out and snap some new pictures with the "right" settings!

Went for more veggie dog cookies and 4lbs of Dunk'nDonut coffee. Didn't even think about a Bostoncream until now....hmmm

Dh's genes have done it again. DD just called and her BS was 150 and A1c was 6.59. Over 6.5 is diabetic. She kept saying she had been on a diet since Dec and couldn't hear me saying A1c shows 3 months. Maybe the incentive for her to diet and stop smoking.....door later bye karen3

jess1 01-29-2011 07:52 PM

Bunti.... my bad. I thought I'd posted the recipe (and now have)!
Wendy's Chili (serves 6)

1 lb. ground beef
1- 14.5 oz can tomato sauce
1- 14.5 oz can kidney beans (with liquid)
1- 14.5 oz can pinto beans (with liquid)
1/2 Cup diced onion
1- 4 oz diced green chiles
1- 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
1-1.5 tsp cumin powder
1.5 TB chili powder
3/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup water

Brown the ground beef in a skillet, drain. In a large pot, combine the beef plus all remaining ingredients. Simmer, stirring every 15-20 minutes, for 2-3 hours.

PS pay attention to the spice amounts.... I got them backwards the first time, NOT A GOOD THING!
