Hey natamars...just guessing but maybe you've hit a plateau that needs a food change or exercise jolt. I've found that changing either even just one day gets the body to adjust and force something to happen.

As for me, the weekend was spent sitting on my butt marking assignments only making time to workout...but then today at work it got too chaotic and by the time I got home it was too late. I only had time to shove a Lean Cuisine and some lettuce in my mouth before heading out to my vb game. Unfortunately, this week's game wasn't much of a calorie buster so I feel let down on two counts.

Good news is that I did do 14 days straight of JM's crazy dvd and tomorrow I will get back on the wagon with day 15 of L2. I am curious as to what's going on with my weight as I haven't played with my wii fit since Friday either.

I just need to make it to this weekend...and it's only Monday!! ARGHHHH!!!

dcapulet 01-17-2011 11:17 PM

otown - nice going on the 30DS! I alternate that with JM Boost Metabolism - kicking my butt!!

so tonight i broke 1,000 minutes of exercise this month! Very happy about that - only 200 more minutes to meet my monthly goal. Now I just need to get through this wild NY weather...

Hello Friends

Dcap Be careful in the icy snow this morning. What a winter it has been, huh?

Otown Great job on the workouts....if you skip a day it isn't the end of the world. I'd rather have my diet together than my workouts, since dieting is 80 percent of the equation and for me the hardest thing to get in line.

Bama Good luck on the weigh in!!

Madamb I have the same scale and your story made me giggle out loud..the boy and girl DO look the same...easy mistake.

River I never stress about a few lbs gained on vacation...it is every day life that made me overweight, not vacations! I like your attitude.

Natamars You mentioned retaining fluid, I'm there right now....PMS week...frustrating bc you can't get an accurate weight reading then.

I know i'm forgetting people but my brain is fried. Scale is back up to almost what it was when I started....combination of bad carb eating and PMS...I know I have four weeks left of the challenge, I'm not going to stress......DH is FINALLY going back to work today and we'll be back to routine...it is much needed right now. It's hard staying focused when he is bringing cakes home from trader joe's and fresh bread.....he truly doesn't make things easier.

river 01-18-2011 08:21 AM

Awww, thanks Zumba. I've been home less than 48 hours and am only 1.8 above pretrip weight this morning! I think not stressing about it helps get back to normal.

Yesterday, I was starving! Snowshoed 5km on a rough trail, virgin snow, and then walked a few km. That took almost 2 hours and boosted my appetite. I literally thought I could eat everything in the kitchen! I ate a lot, but it was quality fuel so I don't really mind that.

Today we're going out for a chicken swharama platter with hummus and baba ganouj for lunch and I can't wait. Going to get a 5k done now on the treadmill. Later I hope to lift some weights, 30 minutes or so.

Have a good day all!

Bamagurl 01-18-2011 10:24 AM

Good Morning Chicks! Weigh in at WW was a successful one with the scales dropping 4lbs! YAY! :dancer:
Time to pack the lunch and dinner then off to work. You ladies have a great day!

MadamButterfly 01-18-2011 10:42 AM

BAMA - Oh My goodness!! 4 POUNDS that is 16 sticks of butter melted away . . . keep it up!!

DCap OH MY 1000 hours, incredible . . . JM always kicks my butt, but I need that . . .

River I wouldn't sweat the 1.8 . . . you'll have it worked off in no time

Otown 30 DS, I have done 2 days of Level 2, it kicks my butt too, but I like it better than level 1, not sure why yet . . . I'm SOOOOOOOOO impressed with 15 days, AMAZING!!

Zumba THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU - I just knew I was going crazy with those little boy & girl pictures . . . even with my eyeballs on I wasn't sure. It's pretty amazing how changing the sex changed the numbers sooooooooooo much. I'm just glad I don't have to spend ALL day trying to hydrate myself. I never could get it above 40% H2O. UGH . . . My Zumba videos should arrive TODAY!! I'm so excited as tomorrow is my six-week, six-pack abs and I always feel I need some cardio in there . . . sooooooooo tomorrow ZUMBA!!

EVIL - how was your weekend . . . are you still here?? Hope you had a GREAT Time

OK, everyone have a great day, I'm off and running errands this AM, then work, UGH!! I want to win the lottery, yeah right . . . <sigh> oh well

natamars 01-18-2011 10:55 AM

evilwomaniamshe 01-18-2011 11:56 AM

HI chickies- I'm baaaaack, anybody miss me?
long wknd catch up....

DAY 16 COMPLETE! :) Me & my homies got up early & hit my home gym, we rotated on the treadmill, exercise bike, glider, kicking & punching the bag & lifted weights. It was FUN to get our sweat on together, I then cranked out my pushups, while they watched & said holy shamoly, pretty quick you will be doing pushups with a clap in the middle! ... ha ha ha ha Ya right, I "double doubt" that one- but oh how I only wish I could DO one of those suckers someday! ;) Then I made us pumpkin waffles waffles with flax & topped them with warm stewed apples w/ cinnamon & raisin, & had some greek yogurt with honey to fill up our tankage! Yummo :)

Day 17 DONE! Today marked my 3rd year & 10 months maintaining my loss. Yee haw! Me & the girls went rollerblading at the roller rink to get our skate on, I used my rollerblades, they donned roller skates & before bed that evening I did my pushups! It was a fun thing to do to celebrate my maintenance! :) Oh yeah- no broken bones or falling on our @sses either, not too shabby for 40 + year ole ladies huh???!!!!! :)
It's sooooo nice having friends who enjoy fitness as much as I do.

DAY 18 DONE! :) Today I flew solo on my workout today, being my homies headed home. I did my treadmill, 1/2 hr backwards, 1/2 hr forwards & lifted some weights & pushups. It feels good that my arm strength is comin back, lets hope I can continue w/o injury... Going on a date with hubby tonite, with all my girl time this long wknd, I figured its his turn to have my undivided attention. The plan is dinner out & some retail shopping too! :) Looking forward to them both, woo hoo I love my man! :)

Otown way to break thru your goals & set more, how AWESOME! Boo on vb not sweat worthy this week
Welcome back River, glad Mehico was fabu, sounds like you are getting right back in your groove! ;) Fun showshoeing, oh yeah it burns calories, hence the hunger..
Barb- way to dominate on the eating front, thats 1/2 the battle. :)
BW- you are rockin it woman, fab job & nah I answer myself plenty of times, maybe Iza a bit plum loco! ;) Goodness on the manly side of the scale! ha ha ha ha ha Lottery luck to ya!
Nat- continue on, sometimes your losing inches & the scale doesnt show you "that" progress, ;) keep moving forward! I am sure your body is changing & your probably hanging onto extra water weight is all, you'll see a swoosh soon, don't fret my friend I know it sucks, but hang tight.
Bama- sounds like your on a roll, continue on & albeit after that weigh in you said BAM! :) yanno like Emeril! ;) so did ya? ha ha ha
Zumba- get your ziggy on girl, you can do it, FOCUS on the new & improved you! ;) Your right- eating with a deficit causes weight to drop, exercise is important too- it's what gets those endorphins up & makes you feel freakin fabu! :) Boo on PMS, but I feel ya girl not fun stuff, seems as I am getting older the symptoms get worse & worse, the hormones are all wonky & it sucks! :( Cycles last 10 days & are here every 3rd week or so... Grrrrrr :( Can't wait till this PERIOD- period IS OVER!!!! 'nuff said!
Caprice- hang tough, TOM weight bites, the scale will move down when TOM is history! See above Boo on PMS!
Dcapulet- AWESOME on the pushups, you can do it, how fun hubby joining you! :) Drive safe out there & stay warm.

Have a good day everyone & continue eating clean & your workouts dirty & you will see a new & improved you this valentines day! :)

natamars 01-18-2011 12:58 PM

evil, that's so great that when your friends get together you guys are so active. my pants are looser at the waist so i keep hoping - would love to see something by friday's weigh-in!

bama, congrats on the 4 lbs!!!

zumba, you and i are in the same boat...there are 4 weeks left in this challenge and we can do this!!!!

evilwomaniamshe 01-18-2011 01:42 PM

Just me again.... twice in one day, imagine that? ha ha ha

Hey guys, thought I'd post this link I read today for those that rely heavy on mainly what the scale says, or has NOT been saying.... interesting visual for ya all! :)

http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...log_id=3926473

FYI- I prefer to go by my jeans-o-meter instead, I honestly don't give a rats @ss to what the scale says, I prefer to be go by how I LOOK & how GOOD I feel instead & as long as I can continue to slip into the jeans-0-meter with ease, it means I'm obviously doing something right! ;)

angelskeep 01-18-2011 08:24 PM

Suffice it to say, I fell off today. I will do what I can for tonight and then get back on track tomorrow. No wind I think, so it will be a 5 mile or longer hike.

Barb

Bamagurl 01-19-2011 03:58 AM

Evil- Very interesting link you posted. I've always been able to carry more weight than those around me. I can weigh 160 and wear a size 8. Heck I weigh 218 and wear size 14 now. So I totally beleive that post. Thanks for posting it was a great reminder that I don't have such a long journey to looking better.

natamars 01-19-2011 08:48 AM

1390 calories yesterday. no exercise.

Scale now shows I am up .4 from when I started weighing in on 1/7. Really trying not to let this get to me, but I've already eaten 440 calories this morning. I need to rein this in, and get to the gym tonight. Thinking of starting Fat Smash again this weekend - that helped me through a plateau before.

MadamButterfly 01-19-2011 11:04 AM

Zumba, OH MY . . .

Morning to all the chick-a-dees

My ZUMBA :belly: came yesterday while I was at work . . . OH MY GOODNESS. I did the instructional video which was a little bit of a workout and then I did the 20 minute express . . . It was a lot of fun, although I still don't have all the steps down quite yet . . . and the time FLEW by . . . and I was sweating BUCKETS!!!

Nata: hang in there girl, it will drop, maybe you should come Zumba with me . . . I'm so uncoordinated, but it is a lot a fun

Angel: hop back on the wagon, you can't change the past only, you just have to cut the loss and start from where you are, YOU CAN DO IT :broc:

Evil: welcome back woman, I know you were probably an exercise fiend this past weekend . . . OMG it's already Wednesday . . .

Zumba: you are a zumba instructor??? How long did it take you to get all the moves, most of them I have down pretty well, but the basic calypso is giving me 2 left feet. I think I am thinking about it too hard . . . it's soooooooooo fun . . . Is it less fun being the instructor???

Bama: how'd the weigh in go??? Remember the 2nd week is always less so don't sweat it

River: how were the chicken schwarmas?? Did you get your exercise in???

dcap: UGH night shift, I used to work in an ER overnights . . . not good for my sleep habits

otown - are you going to make it til the weekend??? it's already Wednesday so you're almost there, just hang in there

OK, I work this evening and then I'm off Thur & Fri and I am planning on doing my regular JM video and then do one of the Zumba videos (not sure which one yet) then I think I will soak in a nice hot bubble bath, paint my fingernails and toenails. Stay inside as the high Thur is supposed to be 4, yup 4 degrees with wind chills in the -20s, so hang on all you girls in new york, I'm not keeping this cold stuff, I'm sending it your way . . . LOLOL

Everyone have a great day, 3 1/2 weeks left . . . WE CAN DO IT
Let's MELT THAT BUTTER AWAY!!!

natamars 01-19-2011 02:20 PM

Have my Fat Smash book on reserve for me at the library. Starting it Saturday. Once it helped me thrugh a plateau, once it didn't, but at least I'll know I'm trying to change something. The food in the 9-day detox phase is very healthy and clean(fruit and veggies unlimited, brown rice, oatmeal, a little milk and yogurt, egg whites, and beans)and none of it will tempt me to overeat. Will be hard to give up the wine and chocolate treats, but hopefully it gets me past this plateau! Also going to increase my cardio whenever possible and do some more weight training rather than just the body sculpting classes.
