Wow, I love the positivity on this thread! Gym buffs and fitness professionals too. Can I join please? :D

I'm doing weight watchers instead of calorie counting, and I've lost more than 7lbs since December 1st. Only 12 lbs to go to goal and I would love to get there within a month or two but having a deadline for a numeric goal won't work for me, so my goals are to stay on plan and train hard and fun!

I'm 41 and going to run my first half marathon in May, I've started building my base for that.

My background is a personal trainer although I left that to pursue my career in business, which I've just left. I'm taking some time to enjoy myself and get back to my fit self. My trainer certificate remains current, I keep it up every year in case I want to return to the fitness industry.

I'm traveling to Mexico, Chicago, and Mexico again between now and Valentine's day so losing will be a challenge. But I'm up for it!

Wendalyn, I'm getting over an injury too, it's invigorating to be training again isn't it? Love it!

Otowngrl, I have that shred DVD, it's a quick fun workout. I love your city, spent my first 15 years there. :)

Zumbachica, sorry the scale let you down today. It's hard balancing our own needs with those of others huh? Oh, and to throw my unsolicited opinion in, I do think that fit people can be overweight and unfit people can be slim. I agree that there are a lot of overweight people in the fitness industry right now.

Morning everyone,

Zumbachica - don't worry the scale will move soon, I'm chomping at the bit right now to hit the 170's, UGH, I'm hoping by Sunday . . . we will see.

I just did a new video i got from Fleet Farm for $5. It's a Kathy smith cardio knockout. I did the first workout (aerobox, I believe) it has a black boxer that leads the workout and Kathy smith doesn't talk too much (she annoys me, I don't know why) but anyway . . . OMG kicked my butt up the street and back down . . . has anyone else tried this one.

I really love it, but will have to try the other two workouts

Everyone hang in there and remember 1 lb lost is 4 sticks of butter . . . OMG that's a lot of butter . . .

Welcome river! Howdy MadameB.

Just getting ready to roll my lazy butt out the door for that walk. Gotta do my 5 girly pushups real quick.

Feels like I will never be fit or the right weight, but I guess I'll just keep walking until it either happens or I walk right off the edge of the planet.

Day 3 of being back to counting and writing everything down. Ended up at 1,220 calories. Only did 30 minutes on the elliptical and didn’t push too hard(burned about 185 calories) because I feel all achy like I might be coming down with something. I also walked for 15 minutes on my lunch hour – very proud of myself since it is FREEZING here and I hate the cold!
So far so good – decided I will brave the scale Friday, which has always been my regular weigh-in day. I know it won’t be pretty, but it is what it is.
For next week I really want to get in some more fruits and veggies. My problem is I can’t stand eating them alone, esp. fruit – I get this gnawing feeling in my stomach and I’m hungrier than ever! I like a little peanut butter with apple or banana and some crackers with grapes. I’ll keep looking for ideas before I shop this weekend.

Barb, too funny! It does feel that way sometimes!

Zumbachica, hope the scale cooperates soon!

it's ON.

Doing my exercise is not a problem - I have been on track for a while now. I just can't decide on an eating plan! Right now, I am focusing on eating more whole foods, veggies, less starch and sweets. But I don't count calories or have any other really regimented plan. I think I need one to really see some progress, but I just can't figure out what I want to do!

evilwomaniamshe 01-04-2011 01:55 PM

Hey Madamebutterfly, welcome aboard & good luck to ya!

Hey zumba, try to prioritize chicky YOU outta be numero uno, no worries on the scale, I am sure with your workout class your body is probably holding some water in those muscles that your using, it shall dissipate, keep at it. I'm sure you are fully aware carboHYDRATES ahem.... heavy on the the last half of the word as they surely "hydrate" the body hence the scale not movin! :)

Welcome River, please hop on in. :) Yeah injuries suck, but or bodies bounce back eventually. Yes, it is INVIGORATING getting my sweat on. Happy healing! :) Happy travels & best of luck getting to GOALIO!
& a marathon, go girl! :)

Barb- sounds like your on a roll pushups & a kickbutt video & walking, go YOU! Yeah a lb of buttah is a lot, you girlies will make it dissipate if you "keep your eating clean & your workouts dirty"!!!! :)

Natamars, sending healthy vibes your way.. Unsure if you like yogurt & oatmeal, but I love to eat old fashioned oats DRY & I mix in fruit like grapes (any fruit works) & a container of greek blueberry yogurt & stir it up & sprinkle with ground flax & some almonds & its my go to anytime meal of choice. It's such a wonderful combo. For veggies maybe sneak some into a sandwich or make a soup or stew or stir fry, all healthy & warm your innards at the same time, good ole comfort food if your feeling a cold coming on!

dcapulet- you can't go wrong with those foods! Any plan works as long as you stick to a plan, just like any exercise works, if you do them! ;)

Today I decided to mix it up, did my treadmill 1/2 hr walking forwards & the other 1/2 walking backwards all up hill, good for my hips/booty, plus some lifting & got my 100 pushups in too, so day 4 DONE & all is well & even with only 4 days in, I feel like a new woman back on the top of my workout game! :) Yeehaw, it's good to be back in the full workout groove! Looking forward to day 5!

Evilwoman..I keep seeing your sig. and I'm really ready to look good naked...LOLOL..for real! I'm starting to get aggravated with the fact that I'm teaching fitness and not working on my own workouts. People hear 7 classes a week and they ask me why I can't reach my goals...Well number one, two of those seven classes are "lite" classes filled with seniors..I give them a great workout but it isn't much of a workout for me..one is "toning"...a nice workout but not heavy enough to be considered "lifting"..I think my body has adjusted to my level of activity....

Well enough whining....going to get off my buff and do some WORK....

I'm not happy with my snail scale, time to get that baby to MOVE!!! I'm feeling more in control today.

Thanks for the welcome peeps!

Today's training was a Firm video, supercharged sculpting. I used heavier weights than on sunday and it made a big difference in how hard I worked.

Working on an online course on disordered eating right now (to get my continuing education credit for PT renewal) then I'm going to do a 20 min restorative yoga session.

Happy training everyone!

I only weigh once a month on the 15th, but I would like to join the Valentine's challenge too! I'll just have to comment the day after lol.

I am aiming to lose 20 pounds from my start weight by then. I started in December, but have not weighed yet as I won't weigh for the first time until January 15th.

I am also doing "rewards" for myself for each 20 pounds lost. For the first 20 pounds, I am going to get a manicure and pedicure. The prizes get better with the more 20 pound increments. So that will be a little extra boost for me to get past the first 20!

annah788 01-04-2011 04:57 PM

Sorry, I just realized I'm out of my age category. I was looking on the "today's posts" section and didn't even look at the category. Would anyone mind if I still posted my results?

otowngrl 01-04-2011 08:24 PM

okay everyone I'm back...I forgot which group i signed up with and have now just found it - thanks ruth!

So I have been able to keep up my goals so far

smoothies the past two days have been spinach, banana, strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, cucumber, avocado, and a bit of fresh lemon juice (I'm trying to do South beach but I love fruit - they're so easy to prepare - just peel and eat!)

on day 2 of level 1 with jillian's shred - forgot how much i love it

...and still no alcohol but looking forward to a martini on bday!

You're all so motivated which makes me feel privileged to be with all of you!

MadamButterfly 01-05-2011 12:09 AM

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I just got home from work and I'm beat. I'm so excited to have a place to chat.

Otowngrl: are you doing Jillian's 30 day shred?? I've started that with a few other videos that I rotate through, and OMG it kicks my butt, but then when it's over I'm like . . . what, that's it . . . of course I'm sore everyday, different areas on different days, because I change the video every three days . . .

Well, just keep moving, but right now, its sleepy time!!!!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

night all

evilwomaniamshe 01-05-2011 12:18 AM

annah, feel free to be here if you want to be. Best of luck with your goal. No worries, the more the merrier & me no care that your probably 20 years younger! :) I post in the 20 section sometimes, so its a-ok with me! :) young, old, were all friends here & can help each other with our goals!

Zumbachica 01-05-2011 08:02 AM

WOW! More people on the challenge...this is WAY COOL! Everyone is welcome, and I personally don't care if you are 20 or 100.

Down a lb. this morning and happy to see that. I lost four sticks of butter since yesterday! Still frustrated that I am not getting my own workouts in. It is hard teaching, the background work involved and then learning new choreography.....still, I know that my goals will not be reached by Zumba alone. That is not to say that it isn't a fantabulous workout because it is...but for whatever reason right now my body needs MORE...most probably because of the self abusive way I've been eating since the summer.

Okay enough of that....onward with this day but first I want to check and ssee if I can finally have a signature....dang nabbit. Tired of waiting....

dcapulet 01-05-2011 08:08 AM

Hi everyone!

Evil - I think that's the bottom line - if I work it, it will work. Sometimes I over-think things (all times, EVERY thing)

Zumba - WTG at being down a lb :) love that feeling

otown - what 30DS does for me. She has another hour-long cardio (but it's called "build muscle"; strange, I know) that I have just fallen in love with.

This week is going to be a reduction in junk food, more veggies week. And, I'm going to figure out some meals and an overall, loose plan to follow.

:coffee: and :grouphug: to all!
