Default Fall Into Exercise in September!!!

Welcome!

...To the September exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit and give ourselves some accountability!

In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or housework! Early in the month (or before it starts) set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! To date, we have exercised over 100,000 minutes! Here's the monthly breakdown:

January: 9418 minutes
February: 11,129 minutes
March: 15,917 minutes
April: 10,700 minutes
May: 16,091 minutes
June: 13,603 minutes
July: 14,758 minutes
August: In progress

We blew past our 100K goal... how far will we get??? Help us go further, and get fitter in the process!

Please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had don 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's get moving and shaking in September!

HEY WYLLENN! I'm THERE!!!

Of course, I haven't made any of my monthly exercise goals yet, despite the best of intentions, but this month I'm gonna go crazy! I'm finally home, off the truck, and I'll be able to give it my all. I'm not going to set a specific minute goal, but you'll be seeing me here a lot next month - I PROMISE!! I'm SO excited!!!!

I'm in for September...although this time I will be trying for/doing an 'average' amount and seeing how that works out.

I am interested in participating. I just started the treadmill 30 minutes a day for minimum of 5 days a week, so I have a warm up so to speak. What exactly are we to do though? Do we report to you how many minutes we worked out weekly? Just by posting it?

sarbrosindia- yes- you've got the idea! Before the month starts we will set a goal for ourselves of how many minutes we want to excercise for the month. Then, everytime you excercise you report it in the thread, deducting from you goal, and adding your minutes into the group total of minutes! We have one going for August now- take a look so you get the idea!

I'm in for september, for sure!

Okay, no one is setting goals! Let's see some numbers!

I have been doing a lot of exercise over the summer, but I don't think I can keep that up during the term. Sooo... I have decided to set a September goal of 1000 minutes and see how that goes.

Okay I'll set a number. But since it is going to be a bit more difficult without the pool right here at home, I am going to lower mine just a bit and set a goal of 1200 minutes.

Okay, considering I wanna easy into exercise instead of going at full speed like August...so my goal is 30 minutes a day on average...so 900 minutes!! Slow and steady...I gotta have room to increase later on, right?

My goal this month was 30 minutes a day and I did it! So I'm going to up my goal a little bit to 40 minutes a day so my new goal for September is 1200 minutes!

I intend to do a *minimum* of 60 minutes, 5 days a week and on most days I will do 120 minutes.

So I can set myself up to succeed, I'll put out this as my goal:

1,200 minutes in September

Three in a row - I am also going to set a goal of 1200 minutes for September. The 1500 I set for myself for August was a bit too high, and I want some more wiggle room to try to be more in tune with what my body really needs.

(taking deep breath) Okay, my goal for August was 500 minutes, and I went way over that. I just looked at the calendar and realized if I do a minimum of 40 minutes, 6 times a week, that I can make ... 950 minutes. Eeek!
