157.0 lb --1 lb GAIN

I binged on monday, and went back to start weight (156 lb), and last night ate a big dinner.

Weight loss is intriguing me.

Next week, I hope to lose in a BIG way!

I noticed you're IFing, got any pointers for a newbie. And by newbie I mean today's my first day! How long have you been doing it and do you enjoy it? Thank you!
Hey Sniperhil,

I enjoy IF'ing. My best advice is to try several methods and see what works for you, and do not read too much about IF! Also, try to find a way of doing it that fits very closely to your current lifestyle; if it is inconvenient, then you may not be successful for long. There's a lot of bad advice out there, even from folks with good intentions. I have been trying to find my ideal way of IF'ing since October 2010 and I could have been well on my way if I had just followed my instincts, made it work for my lifestyle and listened to my body instead of paying an inordinate amount of attention to what everyone else said I had to do to IF "properly".

In addition, please keep in mind that every food has calories and don't fall prey to the hype that you can eat a bunch of fruits, veggies and beans and not put on weight! Yes, you will. If you eat too much of ANYTHING you will. Our bodies don't know the difference between calories from apples vs butter. All it knows is when you've eaten more calories than it needs, then the extra calories must be stored as fat to be used as fuel at some unforeseen (hopefully) point of famine or starvation. Please don't make the mistake I made.

Congrats on starting the IF Journey! Please keep me posted on how it's going for you.

I was sticking around in the 220's until this morning, but I think it may be just about that TOM, so I may be retaining water.

Good luck, everyone!

I also decided to be good during 4th of July. I've got a float trip the next weekend and my birthday is two weeks after that. I feel like those two events are more worthy of indulging. Today at work we ordered food for our board meeting and one of the containers is the perfect size for a healthy sandwich/two side combo. It just struck me that I should take my own food for 4th of July. The only downside is that I know I won't be able to really drink , or I might end up sampling everything else.

Thanks for the advice! I completed my first day successfully. I'm beginning with a fast 16/ eat 8, to break myself in. I'm also sticking to a 1200-1400 cal diet within my 8 hour window. It was sooo much easier than stretching 1200-1400 cals over a 16 hour wake period!

Everyone
Congrats on your weight loss!

Angry I Need A Hug! Save Me!!!

UGHHH somebody save me! I did all that I thought I needed to do to prevent a disaster, and the disaster happened anyway. Why Meeee?!!!
I wish I could leave work now I really want to work out. ( I can't remember saying that in recent years. Usually I want to snack. Change is happening. )
However, I can't leave and a small part of me wants to eat but I will be strong!
I will not eat!
I am not hungry, and food is not the answer! Eating will not push aside these feelings of failure even though the disaster is not my fault and if I give in I will feel much worse than I do now. I want to feel better.
The worse part is that although my direct boss knows I'm not to blame her boss says that I am Why meeee!
Gosh will 5 pm come already?! I really want to go home, finish reading Bossypants on the train (hopefully Tina Fey doesn't say something that upsets me further) listen to music and break a much needed sweat.
I need a hug!

FassGal - I like the phrase "Mama said there'd be days like this" Hang in there. I'm sure whatever work drama your experiencing will not matter in 5 years (or probably a month). Try to relax and let it pass. Have some (OP) fun this weekend and forget about it.

Also I just got some Motivating news. I've been invited to the wedding of a college friend on my birthday (about a week after this challenge ends). I wasn't sure if I would be invited or not. The bride and I weren't that close but we have alot of mutual friends. I'm going to have to put on a dress and see most of my college friends in two months. Time to lace up the running shoes!!

Fassgal-thank you so much for your kindness, I am so happy that i can help someone out! I'm really working my butt off- i see a personal trainer 3x a week, pilates 2x a week, and my own workout 1x a week. and trust me-this is going from a very very sedentary lifestyle! I also eat breakfast (which i HATE) everday, and a light lunch, and then just graze for dinner (I think it was Oprah who said never eat after 7?) Trust me, this is not my first time trying to get this weight off. I have attempted NUMEROUS times and have always failed lol. it really is this site (and particularly this thread) that is giving me this motivation! you can do it girl-trust me! i'm not going to lie it sucks major donkey. I have still not transferred from the 'diet' mind to the 'lifestyle' mind, but i have faith that once we get there this will be a lot easier for all of us!

Don't get down baby! You are now my official IF buddy. If you're feeling the need to break a lil sweat at work, do some standing pushups off your desk (if you work at a desk. Lol), or tricep dips off your chair. Theyre not going to burn mad cals but they will pump you up (not arnold style) and make you feel better.

Scarlett

Congrats on the invite! That's some crazy motivation to do you're best. You're going to look lovely in your dress. And about lacing up your running shoes, I will have 5 days next wk where I will be able to run/fall (my 4 year old will be in vac. bible school)! I'm sooo excited. I know it will hurt bc I haven't done it in awhile, but hey, I can do anything for 5 days! I love the chart. It feels soooo good to finally make the dean's list.

Briannalee123

How much do you LOVE pilates?! It's been an old stand by for the past 4 years for me and I just recently pulled it outta the box. I forgot how awesome it was. I do it at home though with a dvd thru veria featuring Karon Karter. She's awesome. Congrats on your weight loss so far. 20 lbs is huge.

Skinnyelle39

Congrats on being the biggest loser! yay for you!
