OOHH MAN. all this talk about bread machines is making me want a slice of wheat bread straight out of the oven. My mom used to have a bread machine and the house would smell absolutely incredible when it was baking. We got rid of it a couple of years ago.
Shan- those earings are absolutely gorgeous! People show me jewelry from Etsy all of the time, but I'm too lazy to search around the site. haha
Teff- I'm glad the appointment with the nutritionist went well! Good luck with the change. Taking a step in the healthy direction is always a challenge, you can do it!!
Jelbb- you're not the only one behind! I'm so off schedule with spring break that I don't have time to check up on here! Now I have A LOT to catch up on!! Congrats on the weight loss!
Stella- sinus infections are the WORST. Well...I'm speaking for my mom on that one, I've never had one. But she's always miserable and it just messes her up entirely, not just in the head. She's still getting over one now that she's had for more than a month. Hopefully you definitely prevented it and you'll be in tip top shape for your personal trainer tomorrow! Unless you already had it. Again, WAY too much to catch up on, but I'm trying! haha
Jenny- Those yoplait yogurts are AMAZING!! If you like lime, try putting one of the key lime pie ones in the freezer for some amazing fro-yo. My absolute favorite one is the raspberry cheesecake. Have fun in Boston, and stay away from the new england clam chowder in a bread bowl! It's a delicious disaster!
Feral-Honey baked ham is amazing!!! We always get one for easter and christmas, but I've never had one of their sandwiches. I have one 5 minutes from my house...I definitely need to check that out on one of my treat days!
So I went to the mall today to look for a shirt that I could wear out on friday. I found this cute plum colored tank top with lots of colored beading at Delias today...I liked it when I tried it on and I got two thumbs up from my friend when I sent her a picture...but now I'm second guessing myself. I'm waiting for my mom to come home so she can take a look at it because she's my best critic. It's annoying that now that I'm 12 lbs down, I'm still not comfortable in my body...I still feel like how I did before I even lost weight, though I have noticed differences. I can wear two pairs of jeans now that back in January I couldn't even pull up. They're still a bit snug in the waist when I sit down...but that's a huge accomplishment. I just can't wait to go back to school so I have my scale and my gym.
Oh, and my shin didn't hurt today!!
Tomorrow I'm going ice skating with my boyfriend in the morning. Public skating hours are from 10am-noon. I'm fine with that, he's a bit hesitant..so I'm bribing him with his favorite breakfast restaurant. I'll just get egg whites and a slice of toast or something. Oh, and 2 hours of ice skating burns about 640 calories. SIGN ME UP! But after ice skating we're finally going to see Alice in Wonderland, with free tickets from christmas.
Tonight my mom and I are going to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner because she has a gift card that she wants to kill off. I've honestly barely eaten today...I can still eat 1,081 calories today. I've had a salad (lettuce, tomato, parm cheese, tuna, and dressing) and a yogurt...but I was out and about so I'm honestly not hungry. At least I can go eat there and not feel guilty. Or get a drink. I'l probably lean towards the drink. Hah!
Shanny:
I'm loving the earrings. Those are totally gorgey. Etsy has some truly awesome stuff.
Chele:
I'm waitin on Friday myself.
Mary:
Oooh, who's Roy??? I might be able to read back and find out, but it's more fun to ask you!
Stella:
Good girl making sure you're better. Much better to take that day, get rested, feel better... and then be physically able to go and work out, and go to work and school, etc. I approve.
Feral:
Pshh. No way you even gained that much. All water weight.
Y'know, every once in a while I eat something that has an entire salt block in it, and I have no freaking clue that I'm ingesting like 3000 miligrams of sodium. So... no stress. Be salt-free and go heavy on the water intake, and weigh again in a day or two!
And good luck with being good eating-wise, I know it's so hard when you're going out... luckily I can solve that by being very anti-social... I'm gettin' skinny, but I miss my friends!!!! ^^
Jazz:
Hey, not bad at all! A mini m&m binge is not like a MAJOR m&m binge.
And you're putting my 20-minute run, and weight circuit at the gym today to SHAME with your hour and a half on the elliptical!
And 168, not bad at all! Keep at it!
Remember:
Kudos on going to the gym. And definitely ANYTHING is better than nothing, even if it's only a short workout!
Jenny:
I've been thinking it's one day ahead all week long... I can't figure out why.
And I just came back from Florida, and I bought a handful of things we can't get up here in Canada. Regular orange Fanta for one. My Irish boy is addicted to Fanta, but because we have Orange Crush and C-Plus here, we don't have regular Fanta, just... crazy kinds, like Red Tangerine. So I bought him a big 2-litre bottle, lol.
I'm EXHAUSTED. Honestly, like... I'm in dire need of a nap, but... I really don't think I'm gonna take one, I've gotta shower, and.. go out and socialize, as I haven't done that in frigging ages. I'm going to try to be good and stick to a beer or two. I've had 1250 calories already today (very high-calorie dinner I just ate...), but... ****, I've been to the gym 5 times in the past 5 days. I deserve a couple of beers. Besides, this new beer came out here called "67"... it's 67 calories. Whee.
Speaking of the gym 5 times in 5 days... 5 days at the gym down, 20 to go, 41 days until my baby gets here (also my deadline for my 25 days at the gym self-challenge).
I already feel slimmer and less bloated... but I must say, I felt EXHAUSTED today at the gym. My 20 minute run seemed to drag on awfully long, but maybe it's because I forgot my iPod and was running around the track since the TV-adjacent treadmills were all full.
I was going to take tomorrow off from the gym, but... I have to be on campus tomorrow anyhow for work... so I might as well go after work. On Friday, we're having a "field trip" (.....) for my program, so I won't be going to campus at all. Makes more sense to maybe take Friday and Saturday off, get a bit of schoolwork done, and let my body relax a couple of days in a row.
Hopefully even with my projected beer intake of 140 extra calories, I'll still be down tomorrow on the scale. That being said, I think I just had a lot of sodium... we'll see!
Jess - I go for Airborne (just easier to find - but same concept).
Shan - I haven't said so, but I love the earrings
Jelbb - Look at you, miss gym rat
Uh, whoever made the comment about the key lime frozen = fro-yo. Um, you're my hero and I'm so trying that.
Um, my brain's not working. I'm at school - next week is spring break so I didn't want to miss tonight - and I'm just like in a daze. Maybe because I was sleeping all day, maybe because I've been taking sinus meds. Who knows.
This is what happens to me - I'm allergic to mold and tree pollen - which are both up thanks to spring and the damn snow melting - but my sinuses are all effed, so they don't drain properly, so I get infected. So last night was me alternating Big Love with saline wash and this steroid spray the doc gave me - today I just woke up long enough to chug OJ and Airborne then pass back out. I do feel much better - just a little clogged, but no where near as painful as yesterday. Thank you, sinus gods. But yes, Samantha, they are painful as all ****. Its like your face is going to explode.
Thanks all for listening to me whine
(and sorry about the bread machine talk - I'm the worst life style changer ever )
Also - anyone want to re-write my resume? I'm terrible at talking myself up.

stella- haha you're welcome. My roommate introduced me to the idea of freezing that yogurt. She's a genius. And I'm bad at writing resumes too...but for mine, I just wrote under jobs what exactly my role entailed. For schools, I wrote any organizations I was a part of and how long I was a part of them, my GPA, awards I won, etc. I don't think I really talked myself up in mine..I left the letter of intent for that.
Maybe I'll do that - I have 2 resumes - one is the standard "these were my jobs and what I did there" and then I have a professional skills resume - which is basically these are my responsibilities and what I'm great at, then lists my work experience leaving out my responsibilities at each job (if that makes sense).
The second one is pretty much good to go, I just don't know if I can use that as my MAIN resume.
I'm on the usajobs website (considering going to the FDA or NIH) and I can actually build a resume on there - but it seems they want more of my professional skills one.
Samantha - Sounds like you have a fun day tomorrow! I just saw Alice again tonight for the second time and it was just as good, if not better, than the first time lol.
Jelbb - Roy is my friend-turned-new-boyfriend hehehe :3 Basically I was kind of with another guy friend of mine that ended up sort of breaking my heart and the whole time Roy liked me a lot, but I had no idea! So he was there for me when I was left alone and after a few weeks we ended up getting together!
About resumes.. my DH redid mine for me before I tried to get my teaching job about 3 years ago. He told me he didn't know how I ever got a job because it was so bad Haha.. punk.
I love earrings too.. I saw that comment somewhere. But I wear lots of dangley earrings. I probably have a pair in every color. I <3 them.
Anybody else have a lot of wedding showers and baby showers going on? Seems like for the next few months there is a shower every weekend or so. I am going to be broke!
samantha- post pics! i feel the same way about my body sometimes, even 40lbs down--my proportions are basically the same so when I look at myself in the mirror I still feel the same way about my body. So it's good to have outside confirmation that we are lookin good!
jelbb- you are a gym machine! have fun with those 67s--you definitely earned it.
stella- i hate updating my resume. and right now i am hating on the federal government and their stupid hiring policies. so i feel for you.
Stella - Resumes are a nightmare! Especially when you honestly don't have anything good to put on it, just a couple retail jobs and didn't participate much in the way of extracurricular activities and have no references xD Makes you feel real good about yourself... especially when you don't get any callbacks.. But hey, I'm sure yours will work out great ^^
Jelbb - You TOTALLY earned those beers! I've never heard of any that are 67 calories, that is crazy. I thought the lowest was around 100! Does it have the same amount of alcohol as its more fattening counterparts? If the scale is up at all tomorrow I would ignore it. Sodium + alcohol = can't trust the numbers! Unless the numbers are down. Then you can trust them.
Samantha - I bet not noticing your own weight loss is a combination of your mind not catching up to your body yet and your body still adjusting. It all takes a lot of adjustment! Also, the good news is that the next several pounds are going to be way more noticeable. I bet you look great! I wanna go ice skating toooo, but I always fall down and do weird stuff and hurt a lot afterwards.
Feral - I'm going to join your 2 work ladies friends and wish you a very happy, very belated birthday!! Also nice of them to give you things you can enjoy guilt free instead of cakes and such.
Remember - I can't wrap my mind around 30 minutes being a SHORT workout. You are a mad woman I say! On the elliptical, my feet start falling asleep at around the 20 minute mark and I can barely make it to 30 and that takes a lot of self talk. You impress me.
JennyG - I've heard really good things about the Flatout breads, but haven't actually tried them myself because I for some reason am not willing to spend my calories on bread. Sorry, I know I'm not very helpful! I would go crazy if my favorite food products were not readily available though, I start panicking whenever my local stores are out of one of my staples.
Me - Today was the first day I didn't weigh myself or write down calories and I'm already freaking out! I feel good that I am taking a step toward getting better though, I went wayyy too long just spiraling out of control and putting off doing anything about it. I'm also scared what my nutritionist is gonna make me do next week though. I'll try to stay positive.
On the plus side, I had more social interaction than usual today! I decided to go for a walk this evening for the first time in quite a while (the weather was nice, that was the final push factor) and I walked to a local creek and randomly met some mysterious guy who showed me a waterfall that I had no idea was there. We spent about an hour discussing philosophy and the human condition. Random, right? I'm proud of myself for not just thinking "AHH STRANGER DANGER" and running away. It helped that he was kinda hot in a foreign kind of way.
I hope I can get a little better at keeping up with personals and such, I read everything you ladies post but it is hard to go back and respond to everything and I forget who said what and AHHH lol <3 Goodnight!
Forest - technically I "can't" leave my job until July - they gave me $ for tuition and I'm supposed to stay within 6 months of that, or pay it back. My friend suggested that if I find a job that I like/that wants me I could ask for a signing bonus for that amount, but that's why I'm starting to look now - I know someone who left my job for the FDA and it took about 6 months for her to get in, so that gives me time. Which agency are you trying to get into?
Teff - I've been working in my field for a while (I'm 28 so I've been out of college for a bit), plus my job throughout high school and college was really pertinent to what I do now, its just using those "power" adjectives on the resume that I'm bad at.
Kelly - your DH is MEAN. At least he could have just made some suggestions without saying "hey this sucks."
So I was hungry all through class and wound up getting a happy meal on my way home. It was the first food I was able to taste for two days, so yes, it made me happy. I figure if I was THAT hungry - like stomach grumbling so loud my classmate could hear it - I needed the food and I would have rather eaten at 9:30 than at 11 when I got home. So yeah, put me over in calories (maybe??? I don't know how much OJ I drank today) but I feel better/less starving. I'm now going to bed, hoping I can wake up and feel up to some cardio.
I get to eat bread tomorrow (friend is having it for dinner) first time since oct that I will just eat a piece of bread. and I heart bread with dinner.
I just walked in from grad school, scarfed down some homemade chicken noodle (as it was going to go bad) and now need to go run at the gym for an hour. I'll be back at 10:30! I know its late but UGGHHH!! Just go!
Happy Wednesday evening! I'm pretty excited, after 3 long days of work, I get to sleep in tomorrow morning and I don't have to work until 1. Yay! Then I have Friday off, yay number 2! But then I have to work Saturday... no yay.
I'm working on a million projects at work... my biggest, and most important, is OSHA stuff. There is a ton of things to keep track of and stuff. It's a lot of work! I took on this project not realizing what was going to be happening. But, I got a raise outta accepting the new duty, so that's a good thing.
To everyone who commented on my shoes: I made a few posts in the last chat thread with photos of them. I got them delivered yesterday, and I love all three!! I have no idea which ones to pick. I have to go to the bridal gown place and try them on with my dress. They all are so pretty! Maybe I'll just keep them all and rotate throughout the night, haha! I've been debating on finding a really awesome purple heel to wear, since one of the colors in the wedding is purple. Wouldn't that be so fun to have a pure white dress with fun purple kicks?! So many choices, and so much fun to shop for shoes! I was getting worried yesterday, since they didn't arrive at the usual delivery time... and was going to threaten the UPS man if he didn't show up with my shoes. He's lucky he showed up!
Had a pretty good food day... was 140.3 this morning, which is steady. I didn't get to work out tonight... I kept telling myself to do it, but never got to it while home. How bad are yogurt covered raisins? Can eating too many raisins cause any problems? I've commented before, but I'm super addicted to those things. I also bought some Laughing Cow cheese for the first time -- it is SO GOOD! The little wedges might replace my raisins...
teff -- I have a tough time keeping up with personals too. It's so fun to read everyones thoughts, but I don't get a lot of time to sit and read and respond all the time. I have a lot of re-reading and whatnot to do. I'm glad you enjoyed your walk today! If it wasn't so foggy and rainy here, I would have gone out myself. The weather is getting so much warmer, but I hate this drizzly crap. Sunshine please!!
Kelli -- This is the one year where I know practically no one with showers or weddings happening! It's kind of nice to have a year off (which is good, since I'm sort of busy planning my own wedding), but I love going to showers (both bridal and fun little baby ones!).
Question for anyone: Has anyone else been married before and had a second bridal shower or attended someone else's second shower? What's the etiquette on that? Do members of my family involved with the first wedding shower come to the second, and if so, are the supposed to bring a gift? I feel bad that they would have already bought me a shower gift, but I don't want them to feel left out if I asked them politely to not bring a gift... what do I do? What's right? Any help would be great!
Jelbb -- Look at you go! That's so awesome that you are sticking to your plan so well and keeping up with your gym times. As long as you stick to your 2 beer limit, that should be okay -- just no snacking on pup-corn or cheesey fries or anything while out. My weakness is Cosmos -- OOOH so yummy, but all those mixed martini's are not exactly low-cal. Have fun giving yourself a treat!
Shan -- Those earrings are darling! I love them! I have GOT to visit this etsy place and make some purchases and hope that my fiancé doesn't see me with his credit card... Ear piercings are my favorite thing... I've got 11 total.
Samantha -- Ice skating is such a cute idea! If I knew how to ice skate that would be a fun thing to do. It sounds like a pretty romantic day too, with a fun breakfast, the skating and a movie for the two of you. Yay! I'm sure the shirt is great -- purple is a great color -- besides beading, what's it look like?
Feral -- Your office-mates sound sweet That was super nice of them!
Stella -- Feel better quick-like. You've been trying to battle this for awhile now. Crappy sickness!!
To the horse riders: I totally miss horse riding. I try to go at least once a year trail riding, but it's never the same as having your own or knowing someone with them so you can take them out for a real run. They are just amazing animals with such gentle souls. If you like horses and like to read, I just read a GREAT book called Chosen by a Horse by Susan Richards. I loved it.
To everyone else I missed: Sorry! I can only remember so much! I get a little loopy when it is past 10... and it's 10:31 here to be exact! Time for bed! Have a very happy Thursday!!!
