Stella - The Secret is awesome. I really recommend listening to Christine Northrup's "Power of Joy" lectures. It is really funny and really brought up some great points about being joyful and happy. I know it sounds corny but it was surprisingly good. [ARRRGHHHH! You get the hint]
Haley - Congrats on the bracelet! Don't you love when things that were snug or didn't fit before and then you randomly decide to try it on and not only can you fit in it but it fits WELL! Also we want details on your date!!!!! Or at least I do.... I have to live vicariously through someone! LOLOLOLOL Air - 3 lbs in 4 days seems extreme. You have to eat a LOT of calories in order to gain a lb in a day. Maybe its just water retention or something funky? Wanna - I have to agree with the rest of the girls on this... do NOT let your life style change/insecurities dictate what you can and cannot do in life. A) You've LOST weight... that's FANTASTIC! B) We are way more self conscious than the average person and while we sometimes obsess over weight or how we look other people really don't care. Go and have fun. I wish I could spend part of Christmas in Florida!!!!! Divine - Are you sure there isn't a way around FASFA knowing you live with your parents? I live with my parents but I don't think I put that on my information and was able to get student loans. My parents don't claim me as a dependent... maybe thats the difference? Peachy - Maybe you should look into a program like C25K. You already have the right idea with the intervals but maybe C25K will help you ease your way into it? Mary - Don't sweat it! Seriously... like everyone says, you would think you get paid to lose weight!!!! Maybe your body is acting kind of weird due to stress for finals and your cat. LOL! :) |
Forest- I dont know if this is early stages or not... we have done this back and fourth thing... not talking thing... for like 3 years now... Things just never had good timing... but this times seems different..and weird and he wants to be my boyfriend which is a weird concept to me... I'm being very skeptical :) There have been many things in our way in the past... including the fact that I'm not Jewish... why is this such a big deal? Ahhh Family lol
Feral you can have any details that you want...but it is almost Chrismtas :) and then you will have to be sharing your details lol... Also on Saturday Morning I'm doing my cookie baking tradition with my best friends mom and sisters... we have done it every christmas for years... this is the first time I've been on a diet though so it should be interesting... I will NOT eat any cookies lol... ok maybe just one :) |
Peachy - just stick with it! I can only run at 4.2 on the treadmill so I'm really slow, but I've found I just have to practice my breathing and I really have to have music that I love. The songs get me through.
Haley - Yay for dates :) I've read Almost Moon, and its probably my least favorite of her books. Did you try the Lovely Bones? Also creepy, but SO good. Forest - Have fun tonight! I wish my friends threw more swanky parties :) Mary - Don't worry about it, it will come right off. I think my body takes about 2 days to account for whatever I over/under eat. Wanna - GO! Have a good fun, spend time with your dad. Just be aware of what you're eating and take advantage of the warmer weather by walking outside. Hehe - the scale was at 184.6 today :) Maybe there is something to this positive thinking. I just have to keep at it, I tend to be very...negative... (surprise!) Today I WILL stay within my calories and I WILL get to go to spinning tonight. |
Yay stella congrats on the sub-185 weigh in :) :broc:
|
Feral - FAFSA takes into account your parents' finances until you're 24, regardless of if you live with them or not. It really sucks - a friend of mine in college went through a terrible situation.
I've read the Celestine Prophecy and that was awesome, I'll try the Power of Joy next :) |
Stella- I wanted to read Lovely Bones or Lucky butttt the only one the Library only had Almost Moon so I figured I would try it out...but yeah I've been reading it for 2 days now and the main character is nuts and Congrats on being under 185 :)
I also just realized that you have an Alice Sebold quote in your signature... haha... I'm always oblivious |
I think that's from Lucky...Lucky is her memoir and its kind of effed up, but still really good. You understand why she writes the creepy stuff that she does. But then the other quote is from the Last Unicorn, so very uncreepy - I like to have a balance :)
And thanks - I'm going to keep this up :) I just have to keep thinking like Yoda - there is no "try" |
OMG Stella -- I LOVED the Celestine Prophecy. Have you read the 10th Insight? That's the sequel to it. Oh don't get me started on metaphysics I could talk about it all day. My book shelf really is so freakin' eclectic. HAHAH! I think that's why I love looking at people's book shelves when I go to their house. It really does say a lot about a person. Mine spells out CRAZY!
Congrats on the loss! You can do it!!!! Haley - You'll do fine not eating any cookies. Trust me... I baked 40 dozen and really only at a few. I'm so cookied out I don't want to look at one for a long time. I know I keep saying that. Have fun though! Also, maybe the Russian is ready for a commitment? Just show up every day... that's what I do. I still have to live vicariously through you because even though I'm getting a Christmas present.... I still don't get to play with it for a while. ;) Stella & Devine - Thanks for making me feel old ;) .... I guess I was already 25 when I went back to school so my parents info wasn't taken into account! So today has been okay at work. There are people coming in and out of the conference room on my side of the office because of a major meeting their having. 1.5 more days! In other news there is a possibility I may be getting SNOW tomorrow afternoon/Saturday. There is this magical line just west of where I live and for some reason those of us to the east of it don't get as much snow as they get. It's very bizarre. Also - they're calling for "significant" accumulation of 3-6 inches. I thought you guys would laugh at that. Living in the south we DO NOT drive in snow/ice. Most northerners don't understand this concept because they don't understand that a) we don't have the snow plows/brine truck capacity you guys do and b) our snow turns to ice very quickly and we don't drive in ice. I'll keep you guys posted on the madness! |
I love the Last Unicorn!! It scared the crap out of me as a kid, but such a good movie :)
|
The Dark Crystal really freaked me out as a kid. To this day I haven't ever seen the whole thing and change the channel if it comes on.
Also I don't watch ET -- ET scared the CRAP out of me as a child and I have a weird alien phobia. Nor do I watch the old Charlie and the Choc. Factory because I have a dwarf phobia .... which is because the Oompa Loompas are evil and I am apparently the only one that recognizes this. Plus their songs get stuck in your head and it resonates MORE evil. :) |
Yeah fafsa wants to know all sorts of crap about my parents income...so I don't even bother with it anymore. I got access to my old bowling scholarships, and there was enough there to cover 9 hours (although I'll still have to pay for books, but i'll manage)...so I guess I'll be taking 9 hours this semester. Definitely better then none!
I registered for comp II, The 2nd half of american history, and a psych class today...and the scholarship should be approved and the company should send the check in a couple of days. =D Oh, and I LOVED the last unicorn. I made my bf watch it (he'd never seen it) and he thought it was crap, but his roommate came in and was like "OMG I LOVE THIS MOVIE"...not that it matters. lol |
I've never seen the dark crystal though. I was about to watch it on netflix yesterday, but the beginning seemed really weird so I picked something else to watch...lol
|
I've never seen the Dark Crystal, but the Last Unicorn remains one of my favorite movies. I think its something you had to have seen when you were a child to appreciate it, even though its kind of a grown-up message. The book is great and goes into the story in a lot more detail - like I never knew Lir was dead on the beach until I read the book and was like oh...she didn't just wake him up...that makes more sense...
The author also wrote a short-story sequel to it a few years ago - I think its called "two hearts" - its about 50 pages long and I CRIED like an infant child. My mom was concerned, then I told her why I was crying (won't spoil it) and she just started laughing and shook her head. Did I mention I never grew up? :) |
the book is way better than the movie!! I love the ending in the book, it makes a lot more sense to me, it just fits the story better.
|
Y'all are silly! I'm a twilight freak...
I do want to read The Lovely Bones though. |
