I'm having the hardest time motivating myself to do cardio since I got back on track last week -- I'll do pilates and yoga until my arms fall off but I just haaaaaaaaaaaaate the idea of getting on the treadmill! It really stinks, too, because I know that that's REALLY where the weight loss comes from! BOOOO.
In other news, I made the decision a little while ago to really really be positive. There are a few people in the theatre world who I really look up to (I'm an actress/singer) who are just so unbelievably positive that it's inspiring, so I'm really attempting to find the positive in everything lately. So far, it's going really well and I love the way it makes me feel!!! So on the positive side of this situation, at least I'm really stoked about working out in some way!! Doing pilates/yoga every day is MUCH better than doing nothing, and is doing wonders for my sense of control/peace. :-) |
Yeah Arts! I'm trying to be positive too (despite my constant whining) - I feel like it just gets you further.
So I just had a manicure, pedicure and an hour accupressure massage. I wanted to marry the little Asian woman. She massaged my legs. I was like Oh.My.God.I.Love.You. So my gym membership is still "current" because I'm an idiot and didn't cancel it. I'm thinking of going spinning tomorrow (turning in my cancellation letter) and using it for the remaining time I have it, since I don't ahve school and I can't keep continuing to go to the mall after work since I have nothing to do. I miss spinning SO much. Its just 45 minutes from work to the gym, which is slightly excessive...I dunno... |
So I tried kickboxing tonight and HATED it! I am embarrassed to say but 30 minutes in I waited until the instructor wasn't looking and left! But I did go to toning after and holy crap was it hard! One hour of toning muscles I haven't worked out since probably high school... we literally did 20 minutes of ab workouts.. I didn't even know that was possible!!
But it was a good experience and I will definitely be going back to toning every tues/thurs... kickboxing however, not so much! I also wanted to share something the toning instructor said tonight... she said that we shouldn't be afraid of failure because if we fail it means we are challenging ourselves! So appropriate for how I feel right now! Sorry for the random post, just needed to share! :smug: xoxo, Esme |
Esme, why did you hate it?
|
foresmewithlove -- I'm sorry you hated it!! I've never done anything like that, just because I know I don't respond well to violent stuff....even if it's not supposed to be!! It just freaks me out!! And if you want an AMAZING hour-long full-body workout, find a Pilates class. Talk about muscles you didn't know you had, WHOOO!!!!! I love it :-)
stella -- 45 minutes!!!!! That's insane!!I don't think I would ever go, haha. So I busted through my cardio slump and finally got myself on the treadmill for 30 mins. I ran for part of it (not very long....:-() and did an uphill superfast walk for the rest of it, so I think I did pretty well. It's not on par with what I used to be doing, which was up to like 15 mins of running, but I am being patient with myself and understanding that it's a process to build back up to it. I have 2 finals tomorrow, so I'm hoping that I can make a class or get in some cardio after that. Being a college student during finals I feel like every moment of my time is taken up with school, but I HAVE to make time for myself. Not doing so is how I got back to where I am, and I need to make myself a priority so I don't get mad at myself again! |
Stella Thanks! Ugg ... I hate pedicures ... I mean I like having them done, but I absolutley hating having people touch my feet. I think it's stemmed from hating my feet growing up or something silly but I really have an anti-foot phobia!
CollegeGirl Ha, ha ... if I ever finish mine lol :) Thanks About all the exercising posts ... I'll just exit here ... I hate exercise :( sadly ... Now that I think about it my favorite hobby is cooking ... least favorite exercise ... That makes me sad ... maybe I'll bake something to make myself feel better ;) lol |
Ashbee -- Hey, if you've lost 37 lbs clearly something's working for ya!! And if you're gonna bake something you'll have to share with the class, hahaha.
|
stella - I think it was a combination of things... there was only 3 other people in the class and they were all super hard-core with boxing gloves and everything... but I also think it wasn't rhythmic enough for me... I really liked cardio kickboxing (which is just aerobics) but this was more like training to beat someone up.
arts - I agree! I think that's why I didn't like it! I have tried pilates before but wasn't very good at it, maybe I will have to give it another go! |
Yesss, almost done with finals...one tomorrow! Also, went to the gym tonight...one pound down. :) I also had a sweet sprint... 1.25 miles averaging 7.5min per mile + weights. :D Considering I am seeing my boyfriend's mom tomorrow, it's kind of necessary to look good and be able to talk about my running since she is one herself... lol.
I hope everything is amazing with you all and you're losing the lbs! |
Ash - Oooh that's cute! I've finished most of my Christmas presents, just 4 left to knit! I'll have to post some pictures in the photo album thread lol
Stella - I'm jealous, I need a pedicure so badly! And I could do with a manicure and a brow wax too...I need pampering! OMG so I saw The Princess and the Frog tonight and it was AMAZING!!! There is SOOOOO much about it I love, it was just super awesome! There's even some subtle (and some not-so-subtle) nuances to previous Disney movies! Downside? I ate 3/4 of a bag of popcorn. BUTTERED. SALTED. POPCORN. I kept saying "Mary, put down the F***KING bag of popcorn", but unfortunately I had no willpower to do that :C And I didn't get a chance to workout today, either. I'm just going to try and drink as much water as I can before bed and hope for the best tomorrow. And I'll workout for an extra half hour I think... Tomorrow night we're FINALLY going to pick out a Christmas tree! It's my favorite part of the holidays because the tree we get is always the one I pick! And I get to decorate it, bake some cookies, and do some other decorating around the house! |
Arts After watching Julie & Julia just recently I'm thinking Chocolate Creme Pie ... How does that sound class? ;) lol

Hi everyone! I thought this would be a good place to start. I'm not new on this site, I joined back in the spring. I am fairly new to the 20 somethings only posted a few times a long time ago.
I'm currently maintaining a 20 lb weight loss and getting ready to start on my next 20 lbs. Hopefully, they'll be gone by Valentine's Day! I've read through all the posts and I have a lot in common with some of you guys. I knit as a hobby, and I hate feet! Honestly, I have a very strong (I wouldn't call it a phobia really) aversion to feet. I also don't like massages, because I don't like to be touched. I've had a total of 3 pedicures in my life and I love it while I'm getting it and after but I have a tough time getting myself through the door! LOL I'm starting the 30 Day Shred tomorrow, which is how I lost the first 20 lbs. I'm really motivated and I hope I can stick with it! |

u_u im still working at 10:20pm. Overdue deadlines that arent your fault suck :faint: although i am grateful for the money at this time of year |
I used to be so against pedicures. I thought I had the grossest feet and couldn't let people see them. But my sister had us all go for her wedding and I have been hooked!!!! Although when they scrub on the soles of your feet, I always flinch! I'm worried that I am going to kick the lady one of these times.
Someone else mentioned it too, but I love pampering myself and getting my eyebrows waxed!!! They always look so neat and clean after my hairdresser does them. I wish I could get them done more often. And the thought of a back massage gives me the heebie-jeebies!!!! I cannot STAND when someone touches my back. It freaks me out. I don't know why, but I just can't do it! Does anyone else think that this week is dragging?!?!?! I can't believe that it's only Wednesday! |
Icon you are TOO funny!!!! I think we need to add the love of Chicken Lemon Crackers to the requirements list. Just sayin'.
WELCOME to our new additions. Sorry I don't have time right now to go through and do personals. To those of you that don't like to be touched... I'm the same way and don't even like boyfriends to give me massages. I think it makes me feel awkward for some reason, but it's probably more of a self-conscious issue than anything. I did start seeing a chiropractor last June and let me tell you... it is AMAZING!!!! That's how I've coaxed myself into allowing "strangers" to touch me. I'm big on space. I think when I get down to 170 I'm going to get a massage. Plus my bro's gf is in school for massage therapy! WOOHOO! 3 more days until I don't have to deal with bratty children for TWO WHOLE WEEKS! WAAAAAHOOOOOO!!!!! Yesterday was the first day on SB. It actually went surprisingly well. I went to the grocery store last night. I made chicken salad for lunch, little breakfast "cups" for breakfast... which use turkey bacon which is surprisingly good.... I have some little ham and cheese roll ups for a snack as well as some cottage cheese and cucumbers. I kind of "over prepared" for the day because I have therapy tonight so I won't be getting home until around 6:30. Oh and I would like to add that usually I have a CRAZY sweet tooth. Mostly at night after dinner.... I didn't eat much in the way of carbs last night due to Phase 1 and other than the initial "I want carbs because I can't have them" I didn't even eat desert last night. I found a really awesome recipe for an allowed sweet treat and didn't touch it! HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!! |
