At least you know you can maintain on vacation! That's pretty awesome. IA definitely use the "it's too hot to cook" excuse sometimes. I get sick in heat, so adding more heat would make it worse some days. Best of luck with your fast! You've got this!
Congrats Alyssa on being so close to twoderville - soooooooooo exciting. I bet those last six will be off before you know it.
I'm definitely becoming a weigh myself every day kind of person. It doesn't always work out for logistical reasons in the morning but I'm much less likely to cheat and get off plan if I know I'm gonna be looking at a sorry number in the morning. The worst though is when you think you're doing great and you gain!!
I'm pretty **** bent on getting below 300 by the end of the summer. I've definitely sucked on June but July and August are new months. I started week 2 of couch 2 5k this week (seriously I've been starting and failing at this running program since freaking 2009 when I was still living in a college dorm!!!). I forgot how much week 1 and 2 suck because A) It feels like I've never done cardio before in my life and B) 9-10 short runs feels a **** of a lot worse than 4-5 longer runs. I want to take advantage of this nice weather - I love exercising outdoors, it feels so much more natural.
I start TOTM so I"m at 318.6lb this morning. But sunday is my officail weigh in day.
Courtney - how is the C25K. I've always been interested in it but have never done it. I've never been a runner. My knees have gotten stronger so I might have to try it just to see.
I think getting to twoderville by the end of summer is so doable and a plan to make!
My journey starts today and I'm so excited. I have weighed in at 348 lbs. And due to health issues I am going to have an uphill battle. I have sarcoidosis and I'm currently tapering off of prednisone.(that's a different group). I have decided to begin my life style change now instead of waiting until I'm completely off of steroids so by the time I'm completely off I will already be acclimated to the change. I NEED support. I need people that know my struggle. I'm reaching out to y'all. So here we go!

Congratulations ShaunRene on starting. Stick with it and remember why you started! This is a great place to vent and share stories and get support!
Snowboundchick - I love the Couch 2 5k program. I'm the master of excuses so I've always found reasons to stop ( I've moved and couldn't find a place to run outside, it's snowing and icy outside etc) but once you get past the first six workouts in the first two weeks it feels really great to be able to run! It takes about that long I think for your body to adjust. I definitely enjoy it more now that I'm 30 lbs less than the last time I tried - makes a huge difference in terms of shin and knee stress. So go for it! There's also a 10k app, half marathon and full marathon. I like on my iphone how it tracks my distance and pace because I LOVE seeing improvement. I have been running it every other day and then doing cross training cardio on my days off.
Today I biked for 8 miles outside - I thought my knees were going to snap off on the last mile or two but fought through it and remembered that the first time is the hardest. Pant pant pant. I had a good prep day for the week - roasted a spaghetti squash and turned some zucchini into noodles. Yummy yummy.
Not to be a total debbie downer but I'm watching H*ll's Kitchen and the men's team did this challenge and won a helicopter ride to an island. There was this 400 lb guy on there and he couldn't travel by helicopter with the rest of them because of the 300 lbs weight limit with the insurance company. I have to say it made me cringe because that hits home WAY too hard. It's bad enough realizing it yourself without someone having to inform you of it. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh man. And then on national TV. Worst nightmare.

Thanks! I've been sick lately, so my scale has been dropping a bit quicker than usual. I weigh myself everyday. (Usually I gain within the next day or two after consistently eating really unhealthy things, well, when I wasn't sick. Now I can barely eat anything.) So it definitely keeps me on track. I hope to be out of the 300s by the end of this month. Wow, good luck on the C25K! I've never tried that, but I've always wanted to.
ShaunRene - WTG on starting your health journey! Wishing you the best!
JollyGreenSteen19- Wow, 8 miles? Impressive! I can only walk like 3 or 4 max. Would you say biking 8 miles is easier or harder than walking 8 miles? What happened to that guy would have been mortifying if it were me! Was he able to go at all? I know that sucked so bad. Especially on national tv. I would have been depressed from the level of embarrassment for a while after that..
Good morning all. Haven't posted much this week -- everything's fine, just life getting in the way.
Sounds like everyone has had some great achievements! I read the post about the helicopter ride. One thing I found out is that if you have to be Medevaced via helicopter, then the weight limit is 350 pounds or else you go via ground ambulance. Considering that only life and death injuries result in a helicopter ride, I'd say that going by ground ambulance would significantly impact a chance of survival. It's not a matter of discriminating against obese people -- the helicopters with the crew, medical equipment, and the ability to land on a roof usually in a city environment means that there's a limit on how much weight they can carry. Yet another reason to stay on plan......although hopefully one that wouldn't come into play any way!
After spending months in the 340s, I'm whizzing through the 330s. I'm finally to the point where I can resume walking in a straight line as opposed to the side to side waddle -- it's really made a difference in the hip pain, and I'm going to start building up my outdoors walking.
Off to the gym and get in some yoga stretching first.
Hey ladies!!!!! Just wanted to join this thread as "twoderville" is my next stop on the journey. I'm rewarding myself with a Pandora charm to add to my new (but empty) bracelet as I decided to use 299 as the starting point. I got the idea from a fellow 3fc poster that for every 10 pounds I lose, I buy a charm to remind myself of where I have been.
I have a victory to share, since I started Couch to 5k two weeks ago (onto week 3 day 1 tomorrow) I've improved my pace by 2 mins/mile! It's kind of exciting I won't lie. The last day of the program just coincidentally ended up being Road Race day for my YMCA's 5k and 8k so I'm signing up for it. I just gotta get it done. I've not lost any weight doing this but I feel a pretty dramatic change in my conditioning so that's great.
It's kind of sad but the only thing that keeps me from pigging out when I get home from work is pretty much taking a nap until dinner LOL. Worked like a charm today!! Had a banana PB shake, went to sleep, woke up and had kashi cereal for dinner - planning on exercising and then staying upstairs the rest of the night with a bottle of water til bed time. If the scale doesn't budge in the morning now I might just throw it out the window of my car!!!
Weight limits in general terrify me. I had a very sensitive moment with my husband when he unkindly informed he I couldn't use his new office chair. So needless to say can't wait to be normal sized. I never thought about medical choppers wow.... yeah I was definitely 352 at my highest so EEK.
Bbbrrrr -- it's July and the furnace just kicked on! Other than that, it's a gorgeous day out and since I hate the heat, I'd best not complain.
JollyGreenSteen19 -- Wow -- you've improved your pace by 2 minutes per mile! That's fantastic. And signing up for a race is a great incentive to keep doing the training. And the scale will budge. I spent almost 3 months in the 340s and have now dashed through the 330s. Does you body seem to need time to adjust to new weights and then it's ok with losing more? Maybe it's our set points decreasing?
Deamgyrl -- Welcome -- and Twoderville is definitely a place I want to visit with you. I'm hoping that by the end of this year I'll be there!
This whole walking normally stuff is just amazing to me -- obviously it's been a while since that occurred! I started doing yoga and that has helped as well, but while I still have some of the pain from the arthritis, just being able to walk normally is a tremendous improvement in my quality of life. Now I need to build up some endurance. Off to the gym.
IF has been working for me! Back down to 310.4 as of this morning. I will be thrilled to get down to 305 by the end of the month.
Doing my workout fasted this morning to burn more fat. Taking kids out to lunch and a movie this afternoon, so I'm choosing to eat well at lunch and not do any movie food. Tomorrow will be a maintenance day, then Sunday I'm having cocktails and appetizers at a friend's before we go see Spank (musical parody of Fifty Shades of Gray). I plan to have lots of veggies on Sunday before the cocktails and appetizers. And limit myself to two cocktails (or I'll fall asleep in the limo on the way to the play!). Planning for a positive weigh-in for Monday morning.
