Oh Georgia, I hear you. For some reason, late in the day is the hardest time for me in terms of sticking to plan. I just feel as though I'm really, really having to work at sticking on plan and it's not because I'm hungry -- just want food.
Congrats on getting the weekend off. Sounds like it was mainly water weight. Based on the number of times I was up during the night, my little blip at the beginning of the week must have been water weight as well.
Have to run into town this morning after all the bikers get through town. This is the day that the RAMROD bicycle event is held. Hundreds of bikers bike from Tacoma up and around Mt. Rainier (Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day). So basically you're going from sea level to 6,000 feet in one day. Plus, they have time checks so if you haven't reached a certain checkpoint by a certain time, then you're out. We're at the 800 foot level where I live, and we're a stop off point for water, rest rooms, etc. The rest area is across the street from the gym where I go. There were about 200 of the bikers stopped there last year and my thought was that collectively there might be 2% body fat on them!
Betsy - here we have RAGBRI which is a very popular bike race that happens from one side of iowa to the other. It's very inspiring to see - if it wasn't for the whole camping for a week part of it, I'd really want to do it. The race in your state sounds kinda majorily uphillish lol
I bought a month of nutrisystem (I did it 2 years ago with success, had to stop because I couldn't afford it anymore but now I can). They have a good deal going on and honestly I'm just getting to a huge point of frustration - I NEED to figure something out, so hopefully this will be something I can do for a few months and see some progress. We'll see, I'm pretty nervous doing it this time while living with my husband as we were not married last time I did this
Down to 310.8 this morning. Must. Break. Past. This!
I did really well with my DEXA. Some parts of my body showed a fat loss, but not my midsection. I thought about why that might be, and I think it's because as I've lost fat, some of it pools more around my middle than before.
The good news...increase of muscle mass by 3 lbs. and increase of bone by 2 lbs. Pretty excellent results for 4 months of consistent work. The technician told me to keep going as I have been and that in about 2 to 3 more months, the fat burning was going to really get going. Looking forward to that!
Georgia, you are doing so good with your weight loss I am sure you will be out of the 300's soon I keep going back between 325 and 308 would love to get out of the 300's
The next 10 lbs. are going to be the toughest! RAWR!!!!
I have to share...I started the Shangri-La Diet a few days ago. It's kinda strange. Not really a "diet", but rather, a diet "tweak". In theory it works on brain chemistry. I haven't read the whole book yet, but I started to implement the main idea because it wasn't dangerous. Basically, the idea is to take a dose of something that doesn't have any flavor or aroma, under very specific conditions, and it affects one's ability to suppress appetite.
I started it four days ago, and I think it's working. Apparently for some of us bigger people, it works better. I took a dose of extra light olive oil (2 Tbs.) an hour before eating this morning, and I'll take another dose an hour before I stop eating tonight. I am using it in conjunction with the other stuff I'm doing (Paleo diet and intermittent fasting) and it seems to make life a little easier with my choices. Like I didn't have anything to eat till 11:30 this morning. I ate well (a whole turkey thigh, big serving of roasted chard with olive oil, iced coffee with heavy cream), just drank water the rest of the day, and now it's 6:30 pm and I'm only now starting to feel a bit hungry. I haven't felt the emotional need to snack on anything all day! That's pretty surprising to me!
It doesn't always work for everyone, and for some people, it works great until they lose enough weight that it stops working. It's supposed to help lower one's set point. This really interested me since I have been having a really tough time getting below 309 lbs.
So I'll let you know how I'm doing with this. If I get past 300 lbs. (like around 285 lbs.) and stay there for a few months, I'll feel like I'm out of danger. My body seems to like to lose about 10% total body weight and then hang out there for several months. Maybe my skin shrinkage will keep up!
duuuude, do not do nutrisystem. I guarantee you that once you stop buying that nasty processed frozen food and start eating real food again you're gonna gain that sh*% back in a heartbeat. imo, pinterest some easy recipes, change some of the fat kid stuff to not so fat kid stuff. oh and holy ****, start using unsweetened non flavored almond milk for regular milk. it's thick like whole milk and doesn't taste weird.
oh and I'll share my nsv here too: 2 pants sizes down son.
Must stay focused! Yesterday was a very busy day for me. I was too busy to think about most of the day, but I munched on pork rinds when I got home. That was odd! First time I ever ate them. I ate more than just that, eventually.
Not enough sleep last night. I will be dragging all day! Dangerous path to overeating!
I decided to start with a 25 pound goal for weightloss between now and the end of the year I have lost 3.2 pounds since Saturday.
Hang in there Georgia I think we all have days like you had.
I'm going to be doing extreme low calorie/extreme low carb for the next few days to kick things back into gear. I gained 11 pounds in the span of 4 days. This happens for me whenever I go off plan in a major way like happened with this last weekend and having a birthday party here. So, I'm going to shock things back to normal and hopefully at least get back to where I was without it taking a few weeks.
Isn't that irritating and unfair (yes, that was a little whine there)? You can gain weight so easily and it takes 3 times as long to get it off.
I've been MIA sorry. Still hovering around 318. I've had some serious foot pain the last week. It's either from the running (I had started the C25K) or my diet which had slowly gone back to have wheat and dairy and baked goods. So I'm starting a cleanse again on Monday.
I'm really struggling with food. I'm still exercising almost everyday but the weight is not coming off because I have no set food plan and I'm so up in the air about what I want to do even after all this time.
I've had setbacks but at least my attitude is never give up now.
SOunds like you are all doing well. I really would like to get into yoga, I love pilates but haven't gotten the yoga bug just yet.
Good to hear from you Snowbound. We can all relate to what you're going through. I don't know if this will help, but writing down my meal plan for the day is just a must for me -- otherwise I'm all over the place.
Today did see some of the water weight come off -- dropped 3 pounds yesterday -- but that still means that I have 8 more just to get back to where I was. I always have my problem with cheating in the evening -- need to figure out a better way of coping with that time.
Today I need to do my yoga here at home, get more yard work done, and begin getting the RV prepped for a short camping trip next week. Looking forward to just getting out of town for a few days!
I'm on the tail end of a 12-hour fast. Wanted to go 18 hours, but I woke up so hungry! I want scrambled eggs cooked in olive oil so badly! This is what I get when I end my day with something sweet.
Well heck! I have a meeting with a client in a couple hours. I know that I will NOT be able to be lucid through that meeting unless I eat something. I can always shoot for another fast tonight/tomorrow.
