Just made it into this group at 199. I feel motivated by your successes. We can do this!

Welcome and congratulations, mrsj2013!

I'm very tempted to get on the scale today, but I tend to avoid daily weigh-ins -- if for no other reason than to preserve my sanity.

I'm sure that I've got at least a couple of weeks to go until I am out of the 190s, however, so I'll just settle in and make myself at home. :)

Question for you guys:
is this (meaning onederland) "uncharted territory" for you? In essence, have you previously lost enough to get under 200 before, but gained it back? It is for me. In 2005, I lost 60 lbs, getting down to 211 before regaining it all (and then some). I never got this far with any previous diet attempt. Being in the 190s now is totally awesome, but also very strange. The last time I was under 200 was high school. I was 15 years younger and hadn't had a child. My body is definitely different now!

Yes, onderland is uncharted territory for me. about 6 years ago I was able to lose to about 240, and then promptly gained what I had lost plus more to be at 299.

I haven't been under 200 in years! Lowest weight I can remember was about 165 in middle school. it still surprises me to see a 1 as the first number in the scale (although I just reached onederland a few weeks ago). But still, I'm not sure if that will ever go away, if I will see 1 hundred something and not be surprised that I'm a person who weighs under 200. hard to explain.

mrsj2013 02-06-2013 05:23 PM

Onederland is not a totally new place for me. I have weighed between 175-190 most of my life but have poor self-esteem and body issues.
I gained weight into the 200-250's when I couldn't have kids my 30-40's. I have learned and made changes and now I am putting them into practice. I have been through the cycle of stepping on the scale daily or even more, letting my life be controlled by the scale.

I maintained my weight between 145 and 155 all throughout HS and college. I started gaining in 2004 when I was bartending part time. I started my first serious diet in 2005 when I got up to 212 and was able to get down to 181 in about 3 months. Then I started a new job and didn't make the time to exercise & I wasn't organized about my food so I gained all the weight back and more. In 2010 I found myself weighing 265 and joined SparkPeople. I stuck to that diet for 3 months and lost 34 pounds before stopping. I had gotten down to 231 and lost the motivation to continue. I gained all the weight I'd lost back + 14 pounds for good measure.

Fast forward to June 2012 and I was 279 and depressed and miserable and terrified that I wouldn't stick to a third diet attempt. I approached things very differently this time and I've managed to stay on plan for over 8 months. We'll see how it goes.
