Thanks for the info on the low fat hot dogs! I've tried the Oscar Mayer chicken/turkey dogs before and found them lacking - even my dog wouldn't eat them and she was a regular garbage disposal. I'll try mixing the meats for burgers too. I had a friend who said that she put grated zucchini in with very lean hamburger meat to give it more moisture and some flavor. I'm not so sure about that, but I may try that too. It would add fiber that's for sure!

No treatment effects yet but I've still been really watching things. I have to take a road trip to Austin in a couple of weeks so I won't take any doses the day before or the day of the trip to ensure there won't be any problems. I'm sure I won't be able to stay under the 15g per meal at the conference - I've already seen the menu and it isn't Alli friendly!

Default Down 6lbs!

I'm very excited! I'm down 6lbs since starting the Alli. For the most part I'm being very careful about what I eat. And I don't know if it is a physical or psychological effect of the Alli, but my appetite has been decreased. Or it could be because it's summer and hot and my appetite would normally be decreased. Whatever the reason, I'm very happy!

Default First "reaction"

I had my first reaction to eating too much fat, but I must say, I was very happy to see that those large orange oil pools were not in my body attaching themselves to my thighs. It may seem gross to some, but I'm glad to see Alli at work. I thought my lunch might be a little over and I was right. It didn't take long for it to hit and I didn't have any cramps. Just felt the urge to go.

Will buy my scale tomorrow and weigh myself Tuesday morning - even though my first Alli weigh in is Friday. I'm dying to know now.

Finished painting the room and my legs are so sore from climbing up and down the chair to reach the top. Good exercise though. I feel like taking a nap now.

Well today started out okay, but....after church we went to my niece's birthday party at my sil and bil house. I was planning to take my alli with my lunch and forego the cake...or at least only take a bite or two. As soon as I walked in there were dips and snacks and crackers everywhere. After I took 2-3 bites of that (before I had taken my pill) I realized that I had already gone over my 15 g of fat. So I decided to skip the pill. It was all I knew to do, but it went down hill after that. Next time, I have GOT to take the pill before I take my first bite.

Until my huge faux pas today (which really was HUGE in terms of fat grams...not so bad in terms of total food volume) I had lost 3 lbs in 2 days. I'm afraid to take it tonight because I'm still in my math institute all week. If I knew the treatment effects would happen immediately or at least very soon, I would go ahead and take it tonight. The literature said that it could take 48 hours, so I'm afraid to chance it. I'll get back on in the morning for sure. In the meantime, I'll try to do as little further damage as possible.

I have to say that, so far, I'm really loving alli!

This weekend has really been a test for my diet in general and for taking Alli. My fiance moved in with me Friday (we have doing the long distance thing for a long time) and I love cooking for him.

Friday night was chinese food and I think my only huge spurge which apparently wasn't too bad since I didn't have much of a treatment effect. Yesterday breakfast (egg beaters and toast) and lunch (Subway 6inch chicken breast sub) was fine but I grilled some steaks for dinner which worried me a bit. My steak was small but so far there haven't been any effects

Today was a bit more difficult. My fiance loves breakfast burritos with scrambled egges, sausage and hashbrowns, my son loves them but without the scrambled eggs, and I just knew that either wasn't a good choice. So I pulled out 2 pans, one that had the sausage and hashbrowns and the other with just hashbrowns. Once the hashbrowns and sausage was done I made a burrito with 94% fat free wheat tortilla for my son, and then added 2 whole eggs to the pan for my fiance. In the other pan with just the hashbrowns cooking in some Pam I added some eggbeaters which made mine well within my fat limit.

Lunch was a hot turkey sandwhich on toasted wheatbread with lettuce, tomoato, onion and mozzarella cheese which was really tasty! Dinner was really a treat though. My fiance really wanted cheese enchiladas.....a huge treatment effect waiting to happen for me. Instead I grilled up a chicken breast in enchilada sauce, shredded it and added to it some sauted green peppers and onions. Put that mixture in some corn tortillas soaked in enchilada sauce and sprinkled the whole dish with just a little bit of cheese. Fat free beans (which I only had a few bites of) and spanish rice made with brown rice and 1/2 water and 1/2 enchilada sauce completed the meal. It ended up being really good!

So all in all I feel like I stuck to my diet for the most part. About 1400 calories on Saturday, a bit higher than I would like, and 1200 today. I'll let you know how the rest of the week goes.

Question So basically?

So basically you are losing your bowels if you eat too much fat? Without control? Ummm

Also, I was reading on Alli's website which stated that if you stop taking Alli once you begin taking it that you may very well gain back all the weight you lost even with diet and exercise. I do not know if this is worth it for me. I would hate to be tied to a pill forever!

I will keep watching the Alli users progress and see how your melting off your fat...let me know.

Default Tied to Alli for life

I must say, I would think once you lost the weight you wanted, you could maintain your weight loss by an occassional pill. But if it meant me keeping the weight off, then I would gladly pay to use Alli for the rest of my life. There are other illnesses which people need to take pills for the rest of their life, so what's so different about this???

The side affects are not uncontrollable. Unless you go out and indulge on high fatty foods in one sitting - then they might. My dinner last night was slightly over the 15 grams and this morning I just had some small orange oil blobs - no cramps, nothing.

I am happy with Alli. I have finally found a partner in weight loss that doesn't make me jittery and my heart rate fly. It has changed my eating habits. Granted, I do have cravings for junk, but I am trying to overcome them by grabbing healthy snacks like grapes and chocolate yogurt.

I'm happy and will be happier (hopefully) when I get on the scale tomorrow and see my weight.

I started Alli Today. I am back on the wagon, after my doctor visit last week (which was terrible). He prescribed Xenical, but did tell me I could buy Alli cheaper and double the dose if I wanted to. I think I will stick with one pill for right now and see what happens. I have altered my diet all last week and thrown out all the cookies, creme horns, chips, etc! So hopefully this is the right pill to help me get back on track and lose this 70 pounds!

My question is this, for those of you who have bought the book, is it worth the $ and is it easy to understand?

Default Official Weigh-in Day

Hi,

I had my 'official' weigh in this morning. I started Alli a week ago and I lost 5 lbs. in that week so I'm happy about that. I have noticed some of the small orange bubbles in the toilet twice now but haven't had any 'accidents' or any times that I had to change clothes or anything like that.

I have been staying under my 15 grams and that has helped tremendously. I have been eating a lot of good fruit and there's so much of it available now in the summer that it's not been a problem to stay low fat. There really are a lot of low fat things out there if you read the labels carefully.

Hope the rest of you have had good results as well.

Default Just Started

I just started with Alli today but I tried to be good about eating over the weekend too.

My husband is on a diet as well (he's not taking Alli) so that is going to help me a lot. The only problem is that he likes to eat a lot on the weekends and only follow the diet during the week.

I was wondering, do you know if Alli affects the food you ate BEFORE taking Alli? I was pretty good about eating over the weekend but I def ate over 16g each day. Yesterday I had a pretty big lunch but I had only a california roll for dinner.

I'm planning to eat cereal and lean cuisine for as long as I can. I also started going to the gym a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping I can lose some weight.

I'm on day 4 and no "effects" so far. Actually, like some others, I have been experiencing the opposite effect. I checked my weight this morning and I haven't lost anything yet, but I think once my body gets adjusted I will see a loss. Lol...no pun intended.

For those who have eaten Chinese, I read somewhere else that chinese has a lot of sodium, so that could attribute to a little extra water weight the next day.

Everyone have a good day!

Today is my 1st day of taking alli (6/25) I was doing on the lowfat eating plan before todays start date until my husband decided to go on a "diet" with me!! I want him to be healthy but what does he do?? Stop Reading Massive food porn ahead! He buys donuts, cookies, sweet drinks, fast food all thurs - sunday. One last fling with this stuff!! I'm so made at myself. I was weak. I ate fast food for dinner to many times and gave into some sweets. GRRR well I'm up 4lbs. What can I say today is a new day! Had I taken alli I would not have eaten all that bad stuff. I'm just happy that when he was buying junk I was buying healthy foods. So this week I have all I need for my preplanned meals through myalliplan. YEAH ME for being at least a little good.

Okay.... so my official weightloss after a week is 3lbs! Pretty good! I am very pleased. Before taking alli, I was exercising and watching my intake and failing miserably. The pill seems to keep me focused, especially when I want to start snacking like a mad woman!

I have heard some discussion that if you stop taking the pill you will gain all of the weight back. My thought is... MOST people stop taking the pill when the quit or give up. Just like any diet, once you stop eating right, it all comes back and then some. I hope that Alli will teach me some self control... and "think before you eat" mentality. The pill itself will only remove enough calories for you to lose .25 lbs per week. It's effectiveness is in the behavioral modification. The pill is not the reason why people are gaining their weight back. They gain the weight because they resumed their bad eating habits.

The pill also seems to stay in my system for a long time, well after an hour after I have eaten. So be careful about skipping a pill to avoid side effects, you may get them anyway if you have enough of the medicine in your system.

Okay... off my soap box!

I personally have not had any bad treatment effects... one instance of orange bubbles in the toilet. BTW: my husband runs out of the house when I come out of the bathroom. LOL... I just need to share it with someone and he has no interest in hearing about the oil slick in the commode. I know it is so gross, this pill and discussion group is not for the easily quesy!

HOWEVER... both of my co-workers have had the dreaded "oily gas." They both tested the limits by eating CRAP. But just so you know, if you eat too much fat it will come out and they BOTH said you have absolutely NO control or warning.

I think the thought of orange oil in my panties is enough to keep me honest.

Good Luck ladies and gents!

That made me laugh.

My Alli is on the way, I got the shipping notification this morning. I am in Canada and we don't have it up here so I had to buy it from the US.

About 8 years ago I used Xenical and lost a lot of weight, it was a wonderful tool for me. Unfortuntely for a number of reasons this past 18 months I put on a ton of weight.

I could have gone back to the doctor and asked for more Xenical but I was kind of embarrassed (silly, I know) I am hoping Alli will be as beneficial.

After several months on Xenical I only had a couple of bad experiences when I over indulged, one was Christmas dinner with stuffing/gravy/pie etc... and the other I was just being an idiot. I was happy to see the oil slick in the toilet and know it wasn't going on my hips.

Good luck everyone on Alli
