P90X program trial day 1

So we have had this program for a few years at DH request. It never really made it out to be used so I decided Id try it as I dont have time to hit the gym and feel a bit gooey in the midsection. I figured I would stick to the more cardio based videos as this is where I would think to see the most fat burning and whatnot. So i did the kenpox. about 15 minutes beforeit was over he was mentioning how we are tired and sloppy but to keep the intesnsity up, so i did my best. I didnt think it was much of a work out as I wasnt jellylegged afterward like when I work with my trainer but i am pretty darn sore today. When i went to get out of bed, all my upper body muscles were groaning. So there must be something to it. Might take the day off to recover and call Wednesdays my day off every week but then again it feels so good to sweat and walk taller knowing I am not a couch potato, that I might just break down and do it again. Hunger pains take me from you to go prepare breakfast. Be well friends. Remember, the joy you think that…(cake, chips, soda, hotdog, ect)    will bring is truly only going to fill you with guilt and self loathing. Be strong, its always worth it.

Weight : 130.4

Waist:  27.5

Bust: 36

Hips: 35.5

How I did it? Running. And lots of it. I began going to the gym 3x a week in October and went regularly through mid January. I ran 2-4 miles each time at around 6.5 mph. That with a weight routine and vegan diet gave me pretty good results. We have since dropped the vegan and gone a more south beach style route. My 7 year old also began homeschooling in January so my gym trips and pretty nonexistent. Even so, my weight hasnt gone up at all and its been 3 months. We walk and play and go skating now and when I have any free time, I will go running outside or eliptical inside if its too cold. I have run while it snows and i just end up wet and unhappy. No sense ruining a good pair of running shoes. Anyhow, I am a huge advocate of losing weight the right way now because once you have lost, it stays off with much less work. And the feeling of going into a store and knowing 2 sizes smaller will fit is indescribable. Now, rather than being a moderate 6, i can pull off just about every 2 and many 0’s! There is just nothing like being comfortable in your own body. So get outside and get going!

New vegan eating style

We slowly transitioned into a vegan eating style. I am shocked how easy and yummy it is! And I feel amazing! We started taking raw maca and spirulini supplements about 2-3 weeks ago and I cant get over how much better I feel. I havent felt this healthy and strong since before we were married. Thats near a decade. I get to eat some new veggie recipes and most of them are really good. And the family has actually liked alot of them too. My weight hasnt changed much yet but I feel like my body has changed a bit. I feel leaner and have gained focus and mental clarity. Most of this I contribute to the vitamins but like to think that without the diet change it wouldnt have been as notable. So we will keep on with our new habits but might add back eggs and cheese. I prefer the almond milk I make but the cheese and eggs are harder to recreate. Plus the kids miss it. Go figure. Staying positive and happy to be seeing my health improve.

baby steps

Back in the saddle 4-23-10

So I didnt fall totally off but I havent updated in forever. We have still been eating well. Its the execise that has wayned. While I move around alot throughout the day, it is obviously not enough to get more weight off. Baby was hospitalized for 3 days due to RSV and pneumonia. She was super dehydrated and had to beon IV fluids the whole time. She is 100% better now thankfully. But being stuck there made eating good diffucult. Not to mention we went out of town for the weekend and ate out like 3 times. I had every intention of eating leftover dinner that I made extra of the night before but we ended up no where near a microwave when dinner time came. And I made these really yummy wraps for lunch for the next day but y the time we ate them they were soggy and really gross. Note to self: dont plastic wrap your wraps, use a paper towel in a baggie. So it just ended up being kind of a bad food fest. But we got right back to it monday and to my surprise my weight hasnt changed since my last noted weigh in. It may have even dropped a bit. So that proves that I have been doing the best I can. We are investigating a treadmill and I was thinking about a jump rope. That would be cheap and portable and a grea workout. So I want to get back to my winsorslim program so that I can maybe fit into my swimsuit and feel good about myself. In all fairness, that suit never actually fit, so if it never does its probably not the end of the world. But all my jeans are back to fitting and some are even a bit loose again so I am heading in the right direction. Poor DH on the other hand is really struggling to not eat out every day. Its discouraging for me to see that he is getting less and less able. Not that he sits around but last week he was moving a 30 pound battery (basically) and he tore his ‘fat’. This is from a doctor. He actually tore his fat. Not muscle or a tendin or ligament but fat. I did not even know that was possible. They keep telling him to lose weight but it never happens. I was really hoping the biggest loser thing would spur on a desire to get into at least to overweight catagory but it seems to only have discouraged him. Hopefully the nicer weather we are enjoying will lend itself to more active endevours. Plus, our budget keeps us home more. We are actually suceeding in our budget! First time in months! Its a ig deal. We may have fudged a bit into the diferent catagories but just a shuffling of funds not credit or savings. I am so happy and proud of us. And tomorrow we are heading to the arboretum to get a free composter to help with waste. And a recycling bin! We will be a green family yet!
