Chris - congrats on doing so well. I weigh myself daily, always in the morning, and sometimes at night, too. I don't get too upset at the ups and downs. I know that when I see a "chunk" of weight fall off at once, my weight will bounce back a little before settling in at that weight again. Similarly, if I see a gain, it's often related to eating salty food. I really try to keep focused on the big picture. Ultimately, it doesn't matter at this moment whether I'm 12 lbs down or 14 lbs down, what matters is that (1) I'm down something and (2) I'm still OP and doing everything I need to keep the momentum going. The scale will catch up with my good behaviour (and bad behaviour!).
Stacy - 1.2 lbs is great! Anything more than zero is great, in my books!
Kelly - When I haven’t lost much yet, I definitely get the feeling that I could so easily wind up back at my starting weight – a few bad days would easily do it. But once I’m 7-8 lbs clear of my starting weight, I feel a bit more confident that the weight loss is real and that I will actually achieve my goal this time. (Though, I’d better not jinx myself here!!) I’ve had a lot of false starts in the last two years, losing a few pounds over a couple of weeks, only to be unable to sustain it and see any substantial losses. Now that I’ve hit the 10 lbs mark, I’m getting some confidence back.
I'm weighing in on Thursdays now instead of Fridays. Wish me luck for tomorrow!
