Blech! We just got back from my sister's house on the other side of the island. Our family was celebrating all the October birthdays, 2 of my sisters and a niece. I really tried hard to be good but our family gatherings have SO much good food. I did buy those lowfat Orville Reddenbacher popcorn cakes to munch on instead of chips, and baby carrots...I had a large green salad along with my sushi, but there was some lowfat cupcakes that I experimented on. It was a WW recipe which called for 1 box of cake mix, a 15 oz can of pumpkin and 1/4 cup water. I made cupcakes and they're supposed to be 2 pts each. They turned out well, and would be a perfectly legal snack, except I had about 3 of 'em :. What else did we have? We had charbroiled chicken, beer-steamed clams with a garlic butter sauce, teriyaki steak... I had bites of each here and there and I am stuffed! Plus my mom and dad were going to another family party at my aunts house afterwards and baked a butter mochi dessert to take with them. Turns out, my aunt postponed the party so the mochi came right back home, still warm from the oven and I couldn't resist. There went 5 more points! Thank God for flex points--I've used 16 just for today . I did get to walk a total of 7.2 miles though. I was feeling really motivated and got in a 5.2 mile walk early this morning, then I did another 2 miles when I got home from the party. I guess it's a little bit of damage control, but I had to come downstairs and away from the kitchen so I don't eat anymore. Sorry if I'm being a little too descriptive about the food...It's just so freakin' hard to make good choices when you've got a large family that loves to gather and everyone brings something great to eat. OK enough whining from me. I am going to work my butt off this week and pray for another loss instead of a gain.
Good Morning. My scales are jumping up for no reason at all. I didnt mess up this weekend and yet I am back up to where I started???? I will ride it out though but let me tell ya it definately reminded me of how I fell off the wagon to begin with!!!!
Cherie, I am glad you had a good weekend.
Noelle,Noelle,Noelle, Your family should move to Maine and open a restaraunt. I would be your best customer. Your family gatherings sound so fun and yummy! You make my mouth water with all of the delicious foods every week. I can understand how it can be so hard for you.
It is so cold today. We have a frost right now and I am trying to get the feeling back to my fingers and toes after our walk.
I made my first 'Alan' goal!!! I am at 138.00 as of this morning! Now to work on my second 'Alan' goal, or otherwise known as Thanksgiving... to lose 10 more pounds to be down to 128.00!! I am very excited!
Angie.... don't give up...it's water. Maybe over the weekend you didn't get as much water in as you do during the week, and your body is retaining a little. I know I have an extremely hard time on the weekends to get my water in. You are doing a GREAT job!!!! Keep it up, you will be where you want to be by your trip!
Noelle.. you did a fantastic job with your food considering all the temptations around you. I have been lucky not to have really placed myself in situations like that... however, with my friend coming in this week, we already have Pizza planned at our favorite pizza place and probably a few other things... we both love to eat!!! So this is going to be a hard week for me. Great job on your workouts too!!!! Keep it up!
Ok... everyone... I have a payroll running this morning.. gotta finish it up! Talk to you all soon!!!
Julie sorry I didn't repsond about the costume idea. I do like it but Joe wants to go as a Hooters girl. he did it before and it is really funny. I am not really sure if we are even going to do anythign now. The plans keep changing and people don't know if they want to do it now. So until I find out for certain i am not going to waste me time thinking about what to wear. I am not really a dress up person anyway.
Jacks I love the bunny. OK, now I want one of those too. Like Angie, I don't think Joe would allow anymore animals.
Noelle and Cherie, you guys are doing awesome. It is great to read about when you guys have an accomplishment. I am still not back intot the groove of things. Ever since I was sick I can't seem to get my life back in order. I guess it will happen soon.
Angie don't worry about the gain. Remeber that you have been lifting a few weights and muscle weighs more than fat. Trust me you are doing the right things for yourself.
My weekend was pretty fun. I had a freind from growing up come over Saturday night so it was a serious house cleaning day then. Sunday I had planting duty at the front of the subdivision. There wa lots more work up there than we all thought. We were up there for 3 hours and only got one bed complete. There has never really been a good maintenance program going on for the flower beds. That is all going to change. We are all tired of looking at the empty beds.
I had a terrible weekend. My hubby was sick all weekend. Yesterday he went to the er and today is having surgery because something is blocking his kidney. Please say some prayers. Thanks everyone.
Julie, I hope everything is alright and I will be praying for you all. Let us know how his surgery turns out ok.
Kempy, A hooters girl? Him or you? If he dresses up as a Hooters girl I want pics. haha He would probably get a few free drinks at the bar. That is such a cute idea.
Cherie, Congrats on meeting your goal!! I guess the brownies jumpstarted your metabolism for ya.
I figure I went up because I thought of Chinese this weekend.
Angie.. don't know if the brownies kickstarted my metoblism, however, after I ate them and ran, I felt so sick.. I didn't eat anything else that night. Not exactly healthy. I tried to get back on track Sat and Sunday, and did a pretty good job. Thankfully the scales didn't go up all weekend, just remained constant... and after my workout last night, I hopped on the scales and had a really good feeling! :-) I was right! So I have two more pounds for this month to achieve my goal here. This week will be a huge test of will power. I know tomorrow I have an early dinner with my friend, lunch on Thursday and then will spend the whole day with him on Monday... so I have a feeling during the downtime, I will be exersicing and watching everything that goes into my mouth.
Thinking about Chinese will do it!!! (that is lunch on Thursday )
OK.. back to work...
Oh and Kempy... PICTURES of the Hooter's Gal.. hahahaha I bet that will turn out great!! hahaha....
Joe is going to be the one dressing up like the hooter's gilr. The last time he did it I took pics but I don't know where they are. I come across them every now and then but of course as soon as I go to look for them I wont be able to find them.
We have a dinner to go to Friday at a plantation. I am soooo looking forward to it. It is going to be a lobster boil. I know Angie you eat those all of the time but it is a treat for us down here. Joe has to go pick them up at the airport that morning. Now I juts need to figure out what to wear to that. I still have no clothes to go to things like this.
Kempy, If you are eating lobster it can be messy unless the are going to shell them for you. I usually end up a mess after I am done picking them. You will definately enjoy them though.
I have to take the kids to the dentist tomorrow. yeah! They just get to go back to school and I remember that I made an appointment for them. They WILL be going to school after though.
Our weather is calling for snow showers for tomorrow and Wednesday. Anybody pity me? YUCK!
Sorry I was MIA this weekend. I was really busy, workshop on Saturday, cleaning house Sunday, and trying to avoid the Latin Festival and Plate Lunch festival this weekend. I went to this New Product show at the Blaisdell. Had some real good samples of food there too. I luckily stayed away from the Cold Stone booth.
I had one pitfall though, Kelly was craving Pasteles and Gandule rice, so we went and got some. I ordered the smallest plate and ate about half of it and then I was full. I think I did pretty well considering how good it was!!!
Julie - thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please let us know how the surgery goes.
Noelle/Angie/Cherie - Congrats on the weightloss!!! Woohoo! Damn, I wish I were there! Noelle, don't get down on the food. I swear Hawaii is evil in that way. I still haven't gone on the scale yet. I should to see how I am progressing.
Kempy - Nah - get the bunny! They're super sweet and easy to take care of. I'm sure if it's around your dogs alot it will start acting like one too. My friend's bunny actually barks like one!
Hey girls. My legs are killing me today. I'm gonna really need to stretch before I go out again today. It's a good kind of ache (a little bit of masochism maybe? ) where you know you're working those muscles. I asked Rick to show me how to use that darn weight machine, so hopefully this week I will get something going on.
Julie Take care of hubby and yourself. My thoughts and prayers are on their way. Good wishes and a speedy recovery too. Any word on the outcome yet?
Angie, I'd love to take you around here and show you all the evil fattening foods we have in Hawaii. I remember bringing some Japanese style breading and nori sheets to my cousin in California so we could make Spam musubi and chicken katsu. I don't know about moving to Maine--sounds too cold for me! Snow showers? Brrrrr!!! I'm sure you'd enjoy it better if you moved out here . I'd love to visit and cook you up a storm local style in exchange for some sticky buns and peanut butter brownies .
Kempy, Joe a hooters girl? that must be something to see! Does he wear the mandatory pantyhouse too? Scary... Mmmm, lucky you eating lobster . I almost bought a couple of tails from Costco the other day but I don't really have a knack for cooking them right like the restaurants do so I didn't want to waste them. Have fun!
Jacks, Jacks, Jacks...my fellow comrade in this food paradise. I just love pasteles and gandule rice . My MIL can make some good stuff like that, and she's haole but learned from a Puerto Rican in-law. *sigh* So where did ya guys go to get them? We live out on the leeward side and if we get hungry for that we go to Jackie's in Waimalu. (Then we hop on over to Leonard's Jr. for malassadas) . It's no joke that it's tough living here with so many darn good food choices. How was the Food and New Product show? You didn't enter the Couch Potato contest to win all those Sony goodies did you? (joking!)
Cherie, congrats on reaching your "Alan" goal !!! Hey, whatever motivates you, right? You are shrinking away before our eyes. You're smart to get this weight off before the major "centered around food" holidays. I hope we all stick around during the holidays to help each other through them. Good job!
Well, I've got to get some more work done and go to the bank and all that fun stuff. Hello to everyone else!
WE GOT SNOW!!!!!! Jay got back at 5:00 this morning from delivering and I got up to pee. He said did you look outside. YUCK!!!! I had to go let the dogs out to watch them though because they LOVE the snow. So needless to say no walk this morning and NO drive to climb on the elliptical.
My weight is still back to 144 and I am getting PISSED now!! Honestly it isnt worth it if I am eating nothing good and still my weight can just jump up 4 pounds for no reason and stay there. Basically right now all the hard work I have done this month to lose weight was for nothing because I havent actually lost anything. I could handle a plateau because that would be normal and I would know that I need to work a little harder to get over it but what do you do when it jumps up ALOT for no reason at all.
Oh Angie.. I feel for you..... it's going to be in the upper 80's again here today.. (made it to 90 yesterday!) I am not looking forward to snow or colder weather or anything like that!!!!!! I am sorry!
And keep working.. it will come off.. I know how frustated you are. But you are doing great!! Keep it up!!! Enjoy that snow!
Noelle... I love that kind of pain too! Hahaha.. makes me feel like something is working right!!!!
Jacks and Noelle... your food there sounds wonderful!!!! You poor things having that kind of temptation everyday!! It would be like me being in New Orleans trying to lose weight!!!!! OH MY... couldn't do it!
Kempy.. Lobster!!! YUM!! That is a treat. I can't remember the last time I had lobster!!! Enjoy!!! Love those plantations there in LA....
Ok... I have a huge payroll today that I need to do... I will catch up with you all later tonight!!! One more day and my friend comes in!! I am excited! Not that I will get to see him much, but I do get to see him!
Good morning guys. I feel like my head is the size of one of those Macy's Day balloon. I just want to lay back down and sleep some of this off. I don't understand why I keep getting sick.
I have not been on the scale b/c I am scared to. I need to have one ofyou living with me so that you can kick my butt back into gear.
