Yes - doesn't everyone? We've always taken them there for their birthday treats but this is the first time they've gone there at Christmas. We don't get them those doggy stockings or anything like that - but they do like their day out at the seaside and chippy jumbo sausage or McD's burger ... well, the boys do.

I have to confess.... they also get a proper Christmas dinner - but without the stuffing or potatoes because it disagrees with them so I do them yorkshire puds instead. At least they don't get to sit up at the table like my friend's dogs do!

I thought today was going to be the busiest shoppiing day of the year. May be everyone did their shopping on the internet!

Sarah's dogs live well

Note to myself, when you are laid up and can't run you probably shouldn't go meet friends for lunch and have a burger and ice cream....maybe next time you'll remember that.

I am going to try and run later, my hands are a lot better my knee is still kind of cut but if I dont bend it much it doesn't hurt too bad, we'll see how I do, I don't have lofty aspirations, just a couple of miles.

I should clean my house but I've come up with the excuse that I don't want to get the cleaning stuff into the cuts on my hands I'll pretend that I don't have rubber gloves I could wear.

One more big party tonight and then I must lay low until New Years!!!

Oh and I couldn't find that caramel Baileys anywhere 3 liquor stores were sold out. They had the mint but that doesn't interest me as much so I ended up getting the regular.

Chris I hope you are enjoying the weather, it is soooo warm out.

Afternoon girls, pre Christmas Eve day.

RSG, it is so warm out, so surprising when you step foot outside and the rain has stopped now. Hope your ailments are sorted for you to enjoy Christmas with your family...and quite right about getting cleaning products in them, definitely a no-no...

I've been out in the rain this morning, to buy a gift certificate for Ted's (Mum's partner) birthday later this week, I didn't get one though as the place I went to, a glider place, he has his gliding license and wants to go while he's here next Sept, didn't do an amount you wanted to pay, you had to do the whole hog, so i wrote him an IOU on the flyer and popped it in his card. It was horrible out driving, everyone was out and about and the puddles at the side of the road were horrendous.

Came home and Dave and Hannah were back from some last minute shopping and had bought 'The game of Life' game. I love that game but got rid of mine a few years back, as no one would play with me.

So we all sat round the kitchen table and had a couple of hours of enjoyment, it'll be coming out a few more times over the next few days I reckon.

Then I talked Dave into going to Stop & shop with me, it was busy in there, but quite controlled and not too many people staring aimlessly at things on shelves like before Thanksgiving. I bought some ready made pastry, and am going to have a go at making some sausage rolls tomorrow. I had a sudden hankering for them as I was in the freezer section, but of course, they're not sold over here.

We only went for a few bits and bobs like milk and bread but ended up with a trolley full, and some naughty bits. We've decided tomorrow we're going to eat buffet style nibbles, so bought a whole bunch of ready made things to heat and serve...I also bought some mini choc eclairs... couldn't resist...as haven't had them for ages and it is Christmas after all

Came back and unloaded and then Dave and I have had a nice long walk with Pen and Lew. Don't think Lew is feeling 100% today, he's a bit quiet and sleepy. It's his birthday tomorrow too. Hope he's feeling a bit more lively by then.

I have two more pressies to wrap and we're all done. I think tomorrow we may have a wander to a local town and wander up and down their high street, just to get out, not to buy and as they're all lit up and decorated it should be a nice start to the Christmas season.

Ooooooooo, I'm loving the Christmas smilies, I could add them everywhere...

Sarah, we give Pen and Lew some Christmas dinner too, they don't sit at the table though, I have friends that do that though, always thought that was a bit odd...I love that you gave them ....and I completely know where you're coming from with the fatty greasy taste from their burgers, I think our taste buds do change when we eat low fat, I don't enjoy them at all anymore...which is a good thing really...last time I was home, I didn't enjoy my fish and chips as much as I thought I would as it tasted to greasy in not a nice way, but I ate them anyway, becasue when you've gone a few years of not being able to have them, you have to have them and eat them.

Frus, hope you keep cuddly and warm and Mr. Frus comes home soon.

Helen, have a wonderful holiday... you're prob already there now....but I'm thinking of you

Veggie take some meds my woman and get over the sneezies soon.

CG... sounds like you're getting sorted, did you wrap last night? And did Hubs come home with lots of bags? Talk to you soon.

Ok, going to play with the smilies again....

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIENDS

Well we went shopping and got some things. I will need to go out tomorrow and get a couple more. I put everything on the bed and realised I don't have very much for my youngest so I need to get her something else

I had such a notion for an advocaat last night. So there we were driving around liquor stores trying to find some Warnink's Advocaat no luck. I found one bottle of a Dutch Advocaat which was $38 no way and it looked like it had been there 5 years. So I had a beer shandy instead

Chris I hope Lew is feeling better give him some hugs from me

I still need to wrap where are the gift bags

CG, you're bloody brave going out tomorrow my woman! How's the wrapping going?

My hubs is so lovley. He's been going on all afternoon to me about how wonderful he thought I was 20 years ago....to the point where I was getting a complex that he doesn't like me as much now....

After a few more comments this evening, I got very cross with him and had to walk away from him as he was making me teary...he knew then that he'd overstepped the mark, and followed me to the kitchen. He said he didn't mean to upset me, but wanted to give me one of my pressies...to show me what he was meaning...

It was a journey album that he's spent all last week while he was away making. He took all sorts of photo's with him and made this album of our life together from when we first met. It's absolutely wonderful Some of the pictures of me, aren't my favourite, but it's me and him and our kids through the years...bless his heart....I'll keep him.

We've been enjoying an evening of Christmas specials of Hyacinth Bucket... I've been roaring at them, a bit of British humour, def makes for a good start to Christmas

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!

I got here OK in the end, but I swear gate 212 at Manchester Airport is cursed. Cursed, I tell you . Last time I came out here (November) the plane was half boarded when they decided there was a fault, had to get us all off and swop to a new plane. This time it was the same gate, and just before we boarded... they decided there was a fault and we had to swop to a new plane.

The problem was that they couldn't transfer the food/drink for some reason, so they gave us all vouchers to get something at the airport, but we were pretty much the last plane out and everything had either shut or pretty much stopped serving. There was virtually nothing left (and what there was wasn't veggie), and we were only given about 30 minutes for a whole plane load of people to queue for the voucher and then queue for food, which didn't give much time for eating, so I decided to go without (I'd had a bit of soup when I got to the airport), and use the vouchers to buy duty free (which it said you could do). Except there wasn't any duty free on the flight either, so I hope they'll let me use them on the way back even though it says you can only use them on the day of the flight, I'm not sure how you can use them if there's nothing to buy with them! £10 will get me a bottle of vodka or 2 bottles of (normal) Bailey's if they let me spend them

But I'm here now, and it's sunny and it's Christmas Eve so I'll forget the trauma of the journey.

Merry Christmas everyone...or happy holidays to be all PC about it. I'm attempting to get my very hungover self into the shower and over to my Mom's. I'm already almost an hour late. One of my best friends had a party last night for all of us that are single, compared to my friends I drink very little but last night got ridiculous, I got home at 4 am.

All my proper married or paired up siblings are at my Mom's now, I'm always the unprepared one strolling in late and getting the kids all wound up At least they find me amusing.

I'm officially a freak. I haven't opened any presents yet, but I've been for a 3 mile run

My sister and her boyfriend are only getting round here at about 12, so I went out for a quick run before breakfast to work off some of my lunch, then I might go for a walk with mum now as we've still got a while before they get here. It was lovely out there earlier, the sun is shining, the sea is looking lovely, and there were a surprising number of other people out there running and dog walking and fishing and generally just being cheery. Then present opening, then LUNCH. We prepared most of the food last night, I've got some homemade tomato and bean soup to start, a nut roast, some veggie sausages and there will be loads of veg. Then CHRISTMAS PUDDING The turkey is smelling vaguely tempting, but I think I'll stick to my veggie stuff.

Have a great day everyone, and hope santa brings you what you wanted.

I had the biggest biggest fattest lunch ever! I ate about half of my "feeds 6-7" turkey! 6-7 midgets methinks! We've just had our pudding now... and I couldn't finish the double-cream custard

We haven't left the house, but I think we'll be having a nice long walk tomorrow
