Yesterday was our Wedding Anniversary and (as far as I was concerned) we didn't have anything amazing planned, but Kevin took the day off of work anyway - like he does every year. First thing we took the dog for a long walk across the Moors, then he went to pick up the car from the menders and came back with a different car - apparently ours is terminally ill so he had .... just gone and bought another one (without any discussion)!!!! So there was a slight bit of tension in the air, as you can imagine!!
After that we went out shopping and bought our anniversary pressie - 20 rose bushes for the front garden and came home and planted some of them before it rained. Then, about mid-afternoon he said that he had got a bit of a surprise for me so I should go and get changed - I asked what should I get changed in to and he said the jeans I got the other day and a nice top - nothing too, too smart. So I got changed and we jumped in the car... AND DROVE TO BIRMINGHAM 200 MILES AWAY!!!
He knows I really miss a particular Balti House in Birmingham from when we used to live fairly close, but by the time we had gone half way I had sort of guessed the surprise and was really chuffed.
We parked up and walked along to the restaurant and it looked very full so I asked him if he had phoned to book and he looked a bit worried. Anyway we went in and were just asking if there was a table when I spotted some old friends of ours from Stratford upon Avon, they were the witnesses at our wedding - LOTS OF HUGGING AND KISSING and we sat down at their table - I turned to smile at the people at the next table and it was my best friend from Maidstone.... then I looked at the people on the other side and it was my old neighbours from Banbury... and there was my daughter.... and there was some of our friends from up here in Yorkshire. In fact the restaurant was full of our friends and family! Boo hoo!!!!! Sob!!!!! Aren't people nice to have travelled all that way - its 4hours from Maidstone to Birmingham on a good day!
So... guess what.... I blew my diet again and ate everything in sight!
Kevin says he did it because when (if) we are fostering we won't get a chance to just drive off like that and it might be too traumatic for the kids to do that kind of thing - so this was sort of a last chance - and, of course, its the reason he HAD to have a car yesterday.
i hope if my man ever comes home with a new car out of the blue he does something as wonderful as your kevin did what a way to soften the blow you must have had the most amazing time sarah and so what about blowing the diet on that night , its perfectly understandable and it is the kind of thing that is going to happen once so your better to have enjoyed it to the full
Wow - what a romantic - lucky Sarah. My DH's in Ireland on business AGAIN - the kids are really missing him, I am too, he puts the bin out for me

When I went to see the psychic on Monday night she said that I have to start looking after myself, apparently I've spent too much time looking after the kids and dh and now it's my turn. I'm going for a session of reflexology at 10am, so I'll have all relaxed feet ready for Salsa tonight!!!! Have a good day everyone.

Veggie, I still can't believe that site yesterday and those clothes!! Showed it to DH when I got back from slimming club. Those ladies are very proud of their curves that is for sure.
Wonder if the people at Fat Club knew about it as she really got a good plug in for it!!

I have been extremely naughty - I saw a top in Hobbs yesterday and spend all night thinking about it. Went shopping and bought it (size 14 ) and it's now hidden in the back of my wadrobe and hubby doesn't know. Will I slim into it
I have just seen a little girl, no more than 5/6 weeking 2.5" platform boots. Am I right to be horrified.
He's not usually quite that romantic - in fact I would say that it is a once in a life time mental aberration on his part!
Poor you, Delaney, I used to hate it when Kevin had a job that forced him to stay away overnight. Are you sure that psychic didn't tell you what you wanted to hear? Its easy to figure out that a woman of a certain age is doing a lot for others and perhaps would feel happier if she were to spend a bit more time on herself. I think just about the only woman I know that a comment like that doesn't relate to is me (at the moment).
Veggie - I like the sound of your course more and more! It would have been nice if you had been able to come along for a curry - I am still fairly stunned and it was SO nice catching up with old friends and strange all at the same time. It was weird introducing very old friends to very new friends because they know me in different ways.

Wow, what a brilliant surprise - Sadly it wouldn't apply to my other half to do such a thing. I'd need to subconciously feed him the idea, like I do for xmas prezzies etc. Then he'd think he'd thought of it all my himself and take all the credit
BPB - Use that hidden top as your incentive, just don't let hubby catch you gazing at it until you can fit into it: . I recently brought a new breadmaker whilst hubby was away. Didn't need it as I already had an old one but I covetted(sp?) it for ages and then brought it on impulse one day. I just put the old one away, replaced it with the new one and hubby didn't notice for 4 weeks until I let slip

I have got a leather trench coat with a muted lavender lining (Size 14) which hangs on the outside of my wardrobe door to remind me why I am suffering - if I am going to slim in to it them I am completely sure that you can slim in to your top!
BTW - I am keeping the Avon undies thingy... I WILL fit in to it by my birthday in June - I reckon a stone should do it - preferably more... though.
