Hi Everybody . . . Another nice sunny day in Nova Scotia, but it is cold . . . almost feels like February.
Tina . . . great "run of the mill", girl. Hope you see Hawaii really soon. Lois . . . good victory at the scale. Keep it up. Wannabe . . . Tina's hubby is buying tickets for all of us? Right? Emily . . . good scale victory for you, too. Together we can all do it this year. Paula . . . great attitude. Hang in there, girl, that little gain is only temporary. Cheryl . . . think I'm going to look for some new Richard stuff on DVD. Stayce . . . here's a welcoming for you. Post often, you are a real inspiration.
On a personal note, I had a little (maybe not so little) pig-out on buttermilk biscuits before bedtime last night. Ate 6 of them. Would have been more if I'd had more (you know those moments). However, I got a bit lucky at the scale this morning . . . down 2 lbs . . .
Got to go now. Have to get some stuff accomplished while I'm still feeling revved-up. Have a great day, gang. We'll see you soon.
Sorry I've not been around for a few days. Have been a tad down because the scales keep going up
No reason other than fluctuations - I have been really good and kept my calories within 1250 and 1350 every day - I have been doing my exercises three times a week. But it's gone up 0.7 since Sunday.
I know it's not much and I know it's just a fluctuation and I know I should only weigh daily and I know it'll go down by next Monday - LOL!! This happened last week - I spent 5 days going up and down and I still lost 2 lbs by the end of the week.
I really should only weigh weekly.
I actually had a small piece of cake today. One of my pupils at school had a birthday and she gave me a little piece. But I was good - I took it home and weighed it and put it on my calories allowance and had a smaller dinner to compensate. According to ND it was actually only 130 calories for a 45g piece - I was quite pleased. It was nice though!
Hey girls! Thanks so much for the warm welcome ... I have a feeling I'm just gonna love it here!
Tina :: Aww, thanks for your kind words - they mean a lot!
Congrats on 20 lbs GONE You're doing awesome!
I so know what you mean about the knees and jumping rope, I have a bad knee already so I've really been limiting myself w/ jumping - I don't want to totally get down, if ya know what I mean!
Also, YaY for you for tackling the treadmill! Mine went ker-put on me last year - I've been shopping around this week trying to find a good one at a good price. We're turing our garage into a mini-workout area and all we need to finish it off is a new treadmill.
Paula :: Pizza - oh that's a dirty word! I was down last week b/c of a little pull in my quad so I couldn't exercise - wrong time to have a slice (or 2) of pizza, but then ... is any time a good time? Anyway, the pizza stuck to me like glue and I spent the rest of the week trying to get the little gain back off ... so, NO MORE PIZZA for me - well, unless it's a Lean Cuisine or something!
Congrats on losing 13 lbs! WTG!
Cheryl :: Thank you for your comments on my before & during pics ... THAT gives me motivation as well!
GL w/ weigh in - I'm sure you'll do just fine!
Linda :: Yummmmmmy - I LOVE biscuits (& rolls)! I'd much rather have them over chocolate any day! Congrats on a good weigh in this morning - 2 lbs is wonderful!
That's it for now ... I'll be back later to check in!
I just found this wonderful website! It is free, it has real food(you have to watch, some of recipies are high in calories) it has the nutri. facts right on the page w/ recipies! You can also add stuff to a shopping list and print it out! I love it! http://www.recipezaar.com/
If you visit this site let me know what you think!!!
Hi all and yes it's snowing again here........good thing my hubby is the snowplow man! LOL
Hey welcome Stacye.....your pictures are a real inspiration for me and wow.....you can really see a difference! Awesome......you will love it here
Robisa......(hugs for you) ....I know what you mean about those scales ......I'm tempted to have dh hide them for me but I'd be afraid I torture him when I really want to get on them......
Paula....((hugs for you too)) just because!
Lois...wow...you are doing great and I need to get some of your ambition on the exercise thing!
Garnetfairy...you go girl down some pounds is always a good thing....and Richard Simmons is great at getting us motivated!
I'm doing good today......drinking water......making good choices in food area...but really I need to work on the exercise motivation more than anything...I'm just plain lazy when it comes to that!
Emily, congrats on the weight loss I know how you feel but hang in there with us and let's continue to motivate each other
Stacye, to the group. As already mentioned, you are an inspiration. You have been doing great! Keep it going!
Tina, thanks again
Paula, I'm sure the gain is only temporary... you have been doing good.. just jump back on the wagon. Can you tell me what you do with the body ball and does it come with a video/dvd?
Cheryl, thanks for the encouragement and I'm hoping you have a good weigh in :
Linda, thanks for the support. oh wow buttermilk biscuits ...but still you had a weight loss. Congrats
Robsia, I'm sure it's just one of those fluctuations. I think we all have them. I have noticed that I have these spikes for a day or two followed by a drop in weight or there will be 2 or 3 days that the scale won't move at all and then there will be a drop. So don't let it get you down, you have been doing such a great job.
Lori, it's been snowing in my part of MI too but it has been light flurries. Thanks for the support. I understand about the exercise... I just dreaded the thought of getting out of breath and sweating, but I gradually eased myself into it and now I look at the sweating as getting me that much closer to another pound lost. I've been noticing that some of my lumps of fat on my thighs are really smoothing out ...all due to the exercise! Just do it girl!
Yup, the whole spike thing and then the plateau and the drop is how the last two weeks have been going. I suppose it's normal and it's the first few weeks when it went down every day, that was NOT normal.
But it's very psychologically appealing to see a drop every day, even if it's only a little one. But, so long as it is going down overall, that's the important thing!
It comes with a instruction poster that is about 3 foot by 4 foot! I think if you have a work-out room you hang it on the wall! I don't have a work-out room so I just spread it out on the living room floor! It feels good to put it under my lower back, feet on the floor and head hanging over almost on the floor! It stetches muscles I didn't even know I had! I got mine from Wal-mart!
Hey gals! Well, today is my birthday and I feel like I deserved half a day off. LOL I say half because I was on target all day till hubby came home unannounced with 2 dozen roses and a angel food cake. He then smeared low-fat chocolate icing on it with a small amount of candles! I had two little pieces and I skipped walking tonight. But I've been trying to clean my daughters room and playroom all day (what a task!), so I have been mobile. Hopefully that counts. I'm now 28! Yippee! *sarcasm through and through*
Paula, weekends are so tough! I feel ya girl! The scale is going to go slower and slower eventually, we just have to keep in mind how far we've come so far. I hear things will begin to get easier, like second nature when it comes to healthier choices. I hope that counts for weekends too! I checked out that site real fast, looks like a good one, I'll have to give it a little more time later.
Cheryl, I hope you had a good experience on the scales today!
Linda, I'm still in shock that he'd buy us tickets!! hahaha This is a man that only takes 5 days off in a year!! Good job on the 2lbs. Let's keep it going! I hope my cake drops off like your cookies.
Robsia, don't fret over a little fluctuation! I remember what you said in an earlier post that this is the amount you lost the last time when you lost your confidence. Well it's back to try to beat you again. Stand up and stomp on it! You'll get past this little hump!
Stayce, I wish I could have a little home gym. I just don't think hubby would park outside, especially our winters!! LOL Besides I'd want a nice little trainer to go along with it! I don't think you can find those in a box! hahaha
Lori, try some of your favorite up beat music to exercise with. Sometimes that gets my rump a movin' and a groovin'! haha
Lois, Keep it going girl! Hope your having an awesome day!
Well, I gotta get my girl bathed and ready for preschool in the morning! Talk to later girls. Have a great night!
Good to see so many of us still at this thing. I love reading all about our successes here..even the troubles we post about help too. Lets me know I'm not alone with my struggles.
I've finally lost another pound so Woo for me . I've been getting down about not losing so I am happy even if it is only a pound. One less I have to get rid of, I say.
Tina....Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a fantastic one!
To everyone who has lost weight, great job! keep it up!
Yesterdays weigh-in was not good, I was up .5 pounds, and with last weeks gain, just made me depressed. Have no one to blame but myself, since I'm the one that puts the food in my mouth. So I adjusted my trackers and I'll just keep at it. If I don't make my Valentines Day goal, it's ok, 8 pounds is better than nothing at all.
I'm just so very thankful that you are all here. When I was feeling blue yesterday, I got on and read your posts, and that always perks me up. It give me the motivation to NOT QUIT.
Well gang, I need to exercise and get my breakfast eaten. Have a good day and make the most of it.
HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY Tina Hope you had a WONDERFUL Day!
Paula :: Thanks for sharing the link - I'll definitely take a look at it!
Lori :: Thank you for the welcome and for your supportive comments!
I'm so with you on the exercise situation ... I've been doing so well until last week - I've made a commitment to myself to get in atleast 30 mins today, no if's, and's or but's about it!
Yippie YaY for your loss so far - you're doing great!
Lois :: Thanks for the welcome and for your support as well, it really means a lot! Congrats to you for losing 18 lbs - that's wonderful!!
Dragon :: YaY! Congrats on losing another pound - you'll reach your Feb. Goal in no time flat!
Cheryl :: Hi! I know what you mean about the threads giving you inspiration - I've been a little blah this week b/c I just can't seem to shake these 2 lbs (wk 2 at the same weight), so I spent alot of time reading yesterday and I found alot of inspiration ... including YOU - seeing that you're staying positive and that you're continuing on no matter what, gives me the extra push that I need to keep going as well ... so thank you!
- - -
Nothing new to report on this end ... I hope you girls have a great day - I'll be back later to check in!
Happy Birthday Tina - sound like you did OK on the cake - only two little pieces and lots of cleaning to work it off - well done!!
My birthday is not till October so with any luck I will make my goal by then and won't have to be on a diet as such, only maintaining. I am just hoping my SO doesn't buy me chocolates and alcohol for V-day! He buys me Amaretto which I adore but is very sweet and highly calorific. I haven't had a drop since the beginning of January. I think I figured out one time there were about 1500 calories in one bottle!!
Still I suppose I could drink the whole bottle and eat nothing that day
(I'm kidding BTW )
Well, my weight stayedf the same today so I am hoping I'm at the top of the hill. This is identical to what it did last week, it went up a bit, stayed still and then came down again.
So I think this could be the start of a new pattern - I need to discipline myself into only weighing weekly then I don't get these disappointments. It seems to be at its lowest on Sundays and then starts to jump up again on Monday, so if I make my weigh-in day Sundays, that would be the best.
I did half my video this afternoon - the aerobics bit, not the muscle conditioning bit. I have to go get my daugher from school in a bit so there wasn't time to do the whole thing. But it's still 30 minutes so that's all good! I'd best get out of my leotard then!
Good grief, Charlie Brown, this thread is soooooo busy, I can't keep up. Wow, it is wonderful to come here and read everybody's insights, but now I don't have time to talk to each of you individually. I'm going to have to try to get here more often.
Here are a couple of comments I just have to make, however . . .
Jump Rope . . . don't think either my old knees or my old floors could handle that, but it is a great form of exercise.
I'd prefer the chocolate to the biscuits . . . maybe I'll have to make some chocolate chip biscuits.
It is so great to read those posts where the writer starts out feeling depressed but ends up in a much better mood at the end. Kind of reminds us why we are all here . . . because just being here gives us such a lift.
Happy Birthday, Tina. May your next year be absolutely wonderful.
Good morning ladies! I hope your day has started out well! I'm just popping in quickly. I drove my daughter to preschool, went down and walked for 1/2hr. I managed to get in a few minute runs today. Burned only an extra 15 cal and 0.6 mile. If I could fit 2 miles in 30minutes, I'd be stoked. I wouldn't walk twice a day, I'd find something else to do. I'm waiting for the Biggest Loser workout dvd to hit Canada. I'm dying to try it!! I can't tell you how many times I've checked for it. Anywho, I gotta run to the bank and a few other errands before picking my daughter up.
THANKS ALL FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!! That's really so nice!
dragontush, nice to see you again. Congrats on losing your extra pound! Every little bit helps!
Cheryl, we're here for ya girl! Don't feel blue, feel red instead! Whip that pound off! You can do it! Have a great, powerful day!
Stayce, hope your day is going well!
Robsia, it never seems like we'll ever figure our body patterns out! By the time we think we've got it, it does something else. Seems like all we can do is sit back and have a love/hate relationship with it. Hope you have a good day nonetheless!
meowee, have a great day also! You're right the support here is tremendous!
Well, I'm skip to lou my banking! Take care girls! Talk to you later!
