OMG Girls, This food tracking could easily become compulsive. LOL, or maybe I should be crying. I just did my breakfast into fitday, and it came out to 647 calories! And I thought I was making something good for me.... healthy. It's almost like half my calories for the day! I haven't figured the meal in WW points yet. I'm kinda afraid to lol... but I will forge ahead. To quote one of the ladies at my meeting last week.....and a very old cliche too "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, baby" hehehe..

Can someone check this points calculator to see if it's somewhat accurate for figuring ww points, please? TIA :)

Angel~Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't seen WW breads available around here. But through my store I know I have access to Rudy's lo carb bagles etc... have you tried any of them?

LOL thanks again all of you for listening to me ramble on when I'm having days like these... eventually I'll settle in and find what I'm looking for :)

curlylocks 12-06-2005 07:15 PM

i had a total of 1392 calories today

petra65 12-06-2005 08:30 PM

Dee-if you are thinking about buying one of these food tracking programs, there are a couple others that people like and you might find easier to use than fit day. One is dietpower-www.dietpower.com and the other is lifeform-www.lifeform.com. I think they both let you download them and try them for free for 2 weeks but then you have to decide if you want to buy them or not. I have gotten so used to fitday at this point that I'm fine with it.

They have a recommended diet at WW? That is news to me and I went to WW for over a year. I was under the impression they really didn't care how you spent your points as long as you stayed within your allowance. They encouraged you to eat your five fruits and veggies a day (obviously you can choose low carb options here and those veggies are free), and get your 2 milks a day (yogurt or kefir will do nicely) and of course your 8 glasses of water but other than that there weren't really any restrictions. They may have made some suggestions in terms of protein. I think they now actually make a fat recommendation which I find funny.

Welcome TCA. Where in Canada are you? We have a regular from the Vancouver area.

I have a Subaru, so I don't worry too much about the snow. I get around pretty well. Most people here have at least one 4 wheel drive vehicle. Also they clear the major roads pretty quickly.

iwmonn 12-06-2005 09:53 PM

Petra, I guess the term recommended diet is not quite right... however they do hand out a pamphlet telling the importance of not cutting out carbs and fats. (Probably because of the amount of people like me who are afraid of them, lol.) And another of the handouts also does have a weeks worth of menu in it that I do find high in carbs. I think you're right to say they just want you to stay at your points. My take is that how well you do with weight etc has much more to do with the choices of how you spend your points.... like you said, choosing lo carb, lo fat options, etc.

I'm not sure I'm seriously looking to purchase a program. But maybe. The online version isn't difficult to do, just time consuming for me. Remember when you asked how much time people put into their weight loss each day? I thought you guys were crazy to commit so much time. Well, now I see why. It really does help put/keep things into perspective. Guess that's part of the reason you're successful.

btw... the breakfast from h-e-double hockysticks was 15.5 points. Over half my day limit. But since it was so late in the day, I didn't have lunch, and dinner was take out, bbq beef without the sandwich part and gave Lee my potato salad. BUT no veggie :nono:.... so i'll be under points but not in a good way..

Hi Partners

Hope you have all been well !!

Life has once again gotten pretty busy for me, so I will try to check in as much as I can. I had my exam on Saturday and I think it went pretty well... have to wait a couple of weeks to get the results. One more weekend of classes and then we get a short break for the holidays and then right back to it. No rest for this

Jennie - would you mind posting what the Jilliam workout entails ?!?! Just a snapshot of what you do a couple of days during the week would be great. I am thinking about joining the gym in the new year and am wondering if following her workout would be a good start... THANKS !!

Well time for me to get some sleep. Take care and I will talk to you all again soon.

curlylocks 12-07-2005 06:11 AM

1 thing i like about the purchased fit day is that u dont have to be online to use it.. it wasnt 2 pricey,,

cant wait tonight at my ladies workout express.. they are having boot camp from 4-7 pm... instead of a few machines set to high resistance ... all of them will be cranked up!!! i think this is gonna be a lot of fun!!!

petra65 12-07-2005 07:34 AM

Dee-I think you are starting to "get it"

Teri-good to hear from you again. Good luck with your tests.

I have my first personal training session in the gym tonight. I hope I can still move tomorrow.

Since there has been so much interest in protein powder recently, I thought I'd post a few recipes from Dana Carpender's smoothie cookbook. I use this book almost everyday. People may want to make substitutions to fit their programs.

Lemon Drop Smoothie-1 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup carb countdown milk, 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder, 1/2 tsp sugar free lemonade mix (crystal light), xanthan gum (thickener which is optional) Blend until well combined, enjoy.

Apple Pie Smoothie-1 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup carb countdown milk, 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein protein poder, 3 tbsp green aple sugar free syrup (davinci gourmet sells this), 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, pinch of ground gloves, blend until well combined, enjoy.

Cherry Vanilla Sundae in a Glass-1/2 cup sugar free vanilla ice cream, 1 1/2 cups carb countdown milk, 1/4 cup sour cherries packed in water, drained (these are availablel in most grocery stores in the baking aisle), 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder, 1 tbsp cherry sugar free syrup (this flavor is more widely available), 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Blend, enjoy.

I haven't tried this one but it sounds good.
Peanutbutter Smoothie-1 1/2 cups carb countdown milk, 3 tbsp organic peanutbutter (no sugar), 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder, 2 tbsp Splenda, 1/4 tsp blackstrap molasses. Blend, enjoy

Viennese Latte-1 1/2 cups carb countdown milk, 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder, 1 tbsp choc sugar free syrup (this is widely available, look in the gourmet coffee section of your grocery store), 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tsp instant coffee granules, guar or xanthan gum for thickener (optional). Blend, enjoy.

Irish Cream Coffee Latte-1 1/2 cups carb countdown milk, 2 tbsp vanilla whey protein powder, 2 1/2 tsp instant coffee granules, 1/4 tsp almond extract, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, 2 tbsp sugar free chocolate syrup, 1 tbsp Splenda. Blend, enjoy.

Mocha Latte-1 1/2 cups carb countdown milk, 2 tbsp vailla whey protein powder, 3 tbsp sugar free chocolate syrup, 2 ice cubes, guar or xanthan gum as thickener (optional). Blend, enjoy.

There are a bunch of chocolate ones too but I'll save those for another post. I hope this gives you some ideas about what to do with your protein powder.

curlylocks 12-07-2005 10:19 AM

OMG.. i havent gotten on the scale for 4 days......... I am in shock! Wonder if i can wait till saturday now? lol gonna try

angel-eyes 12-07-2005 10:48 AM

Morning!!!

Petra....You are a sweetie!!! Thank you so much for the smoothie recipies. I was just asking Curly what she does and then you give me some other great ideas. Good luck with your PT tonight!!

Curly.....hehe...:drill: MOVE IT MOVE IT!!! How's that for my boot camp impression? Hope you enjoy your workout tonight. My gym offers a boot camp class, but it is "extreme boot camp" and requires too much of a committment. Its 6 days a week at 5-6 am. YOu must journal and eat only the required amount of calories they assign you AND if at any time during the class you DON'T keep up or do the set excercise.....the rest of the class does extra work to make up for you not doing your share. :yikes: uh...no thankyou!!

TLB....Jillians workouts are more involved than that. There are 5 circuits of excercises to be done each day.... over 5 days of the week (2 days of rest). Each circuit consists of a grouping of muscles to be worked. (never working the same set of muscles 2 days in a row) Each muscle group circuit.....has then 3 excercises that you do repititons of the same excercise mixed in with a burst of cardio (jumping jacks or skipping rope for 60 seconds)..... Confused? I would take a look over on the Biggest loser thread here on the site. Or....can you check it out at the library or book store before you buy it? It is really not that complicated....but you need to see it on paper, kinda hard to explain it just in words. She has a great chart to follow week by week, and then shows you each exact excercise.

iwmonn 12-07-2005 03:49 PM

Yayyyy I'm starting to 'get it'!!! lol.. What I'm starting to do is stop rationalizing and making excuses *nods* Thanks for the acknowledgment Petra :) It helps.

Even as I'm losing weight, I'm looking for ways to do it the EASY way. Deep inside, I know it doesn't exist. I'll probably still look- try making my own diet up to suit me, but with all of your help, by reading your posts, stories, advice, heartaches and VICTORIES I'll focus on losing my weight the healthy way :)

Curly~ Have a great time at Boot Camp lol... and thanks too for the input on FitDay.

TLB~ I hope you take some time to relax a little bit during the break. LMAO Like that's a possibility during the holiday season ;) ho ho ho :snow4:

AngelEyes~ Your Boot Camp doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Sounds like a little toooo much pressure ifya kwim. I love reading your posts all over 3fc :) Always a good word for everyone. Thanks!

Val... my friend. I was just reading NYE at the Warfield this year. Phil with John Mayer and Joan Osborne. *sigh* I am so close, yet so far lol.

LisaWY, Turtle, Mom, Jennie, all you other PIC's in hiding ... where are you??????? Wouldn't it be fun some day to all find a time to meet in the realtime chat?

curlylocks 12-07-2005 06:53 PM

hi guys!

Angel:well "boot camp" was pretty cool... haha i might change my mind in the morning... their version of boot camp is to increase the resistance on all the machines.. instead of just a few..

Petra: how did the meeting with the personal trainer go?

Dee: yes u are doing great!!! it will all fall into place after a while and u will find the best program for u..

TLB: I am sure that u aced all your tests!

Val: yep i love fit day also... its a big help (when u use it) :) thats y my challenge this 21 days to to record everything everyday!

OK where is everyone else today??? how are things going for our newbies???

petra65 12-07-2005 07:24 PM

I survived the personal trainer. We were working on my slow burn which is new for both of us. I think she is going to be cursing me tomorrow because she had to try some of it out and I think she is going to be hurting by the look on her face a few times. We only got through 5 machines tonight and I know my arms are going to be killing me tomorrow. We did 3 arms and 2 legs. 2 of the machines were completely new to me and the others involved lifting a whole lot more weight than usual. This is going to be interesting but I am going to be buff! LOL. We meet again next week on my birthday.

iwmonn 12-07-2005 10:31 PM

I had a great meeting... I did get the little slider thingy to help me figure out points lol.. the leader was so embarassed that I didn't get one last week- and I still lost 3.2 lbs on their scale... :). I did find out the gym in the area also offers Body Pump classes. I used to take them at 24hour fitness in Seattle and I loved them!!!!! I just don't see how we can afford a membership there tho... like 65. month. I'm gonna check into if I can just take the classes as a drop in.

Petra~ Sounds like you are having a good time. Keep it up- we all wanna be buff! BTW *slyly* when IS your b'day?? hehehe..

Curly~ thanks :) Sounds like you had some fun too, huh? You lil workout fiend!

:grouphug:

Valerie Joy 12-07-2005 11:09 PM

Hi PIC's

I hope everyone is having a good day! I had my monthy check up at curves. I've lost 10.5 pounds in the last month and 4 more inches adding my inches up to 37 so far :o It's almost getting embarassing there when they make such a big deal about it. Honestly I don't see much change when I look at myself.

Dee that class sounds like fun! I hope you can drop in on one!

I sold 4 hula hoops today at curves :carrot: Someone also asked me to make 10-20 for a radio station. She said she's going to call me about it!

petra65 12-08-2005 07:30 AM

Valerie-you are on fire. You go girl!:flame:

Dee-that price is outrageous! My gym costs $50/month and it is about the most expensive one in the area because they are open 24 hours/day. They better offer full body massages or something for that price!

My birthday is next Wed, the 14th. I'll be the big 4-0. Much to my amazement I don't feel terrible this morning. I took a nice hot bath last night and went to bed early. which I guess helped. I'm only a little sore.

Have a great day everyone.
