Zoey-have a great time in Iowa and keep warm.

Dee-congrats on getting to your first meeting. Fitday can take some getting used to but once you do learn to use it, it is great. It is an eye opener when you first learn what it is in your food. I know it was for me. Didn't they offer you a choice between points and core at your meeting? Also, if you ask what is in that burrito they will tell you. As far as low cal/low fat dieting goes, weight watchers has a well designed program. I'm just not a big fan of that approach although I did very well on WW-I actually lost 50 lbs with WW. As you may have noticed, you lose points as you lose weight--that didn't go over well with me.

were's all the pic's?

Hey All,

My, it really is a slow day here. Getting close to the weekend I guess. At least the weekend for everyone but meeeeee. lol.

I"m having an ok day today. A headache for 3 days now, sinuses I think. I don't get headaches, but it's less now than this morning.

Petra~ THanks for the support. I'm going to really give WW a shot, but my reservations really do seem to mirror yours. I know I can find out what's in that burrito but regardless- it's still worth X points.... My fitday stuff was better last night, calories were good, but yiikkeeees at the carbs! I'm surprised it doesn't figure out the net carbs tho. Haha it still wouldn't have put my carbs at 50- but remembering what my first diabetes counsouler told me 30g per meal was the goal for me...... not weight loss advice, but blood sugar advice... uh ohhh here I go trying to mix my diets to suit my reasoning again...
I asked about the core plan and the only person on it is the leader who said she didn't recommend it until maintainence. I'll figure out the points eventually. it's kind of a guessing game right now cuz so many things aren't in the book. If I find it too frustrating, I'll work it along side the 4 corners- as I become familiar enough to do that. I kinda don't want to give up the WW no matter what cuz I really think I need the suppoer, ya know?

I"m feeling much more optomistic about myself and my choices again. :)

I hope you all have a great weekend!!! Good luck!!! :grouphug:

Iwmonn.....So many things are not in the little beginner book because they want you to buy the companion food list book and the dining out book. You really should buy these (if they sell it at your meeting) because it literally has thousands and thousands of items. I can imagine how frustrating it is to look up the points only using that little manual. I think for the both of them and a handy dandy purse to hold them both, is only $20. Good job on making it to your first meeting!!!:carrot:

iwmonn 12-02-2005 10:58 PM

thanks AngelEyes, I'm going to keep my eyes open for those books. We have a very very small group so I'm not sure they sell the WW extras. (They don't even charge for membership or weekly meetings!!!) I have found some very useful info online in the last couple hours tho.

curlylocks 12-03-2005 08:06 AM

maybe u could find them online? ahhh just checked ebay has tons of WW stuff!

was it angel or lisa who posted the link for the list of weight loss pages? ya know peoples personal weight loss stories? could u plz re post the addy? i really enjoy reading them helps me focus...

Morning All! I know I keep going missing. Sorry about that but life seems to get in the way sometimes.

So I started my third week of Body For Life on Thursday. The first two weeks I lost 2 pounds but I am still tweaking my eating to figure out what is going to be best for me. Also TOM decided to visit during my second week so I'm sure when I step on the scale again I will be down some more.

The really great news though is I am in a size 14 jeans!!!!:carrot: I went out the other day and bought a size 12 to help motivate. Size 14 was the smallest size I had hanging out in my closet.

So that's pretty much it for me. I will try to get on more often. TTYL

Curly - if you look back to page 147 there is a post from Lisa with that website that you are looking for.

petra65 12-03-2005 11:46 AM

Dee-There is also a pretty large WW forum here so you may be able to get quite a bit of info there. I believe Jennie is doing Core and she is still in the active losing phase. I'll also warn you about those little WW purses-they must put something in them that smells good because when I did WW I only had Buddy and he NEVER chew things but he completely chewed that thing up! LOL

Also, I have the Fitday for my PC so I don't know if it is different from what you are using but down at the bottom of mine there is a little menu in blue with things like calories, nutrition, %RDA, etc. If you click on Weight goal it will actually give you net carbs and fiber separately. I just leave mine set that way so I don't have to do the subtraction all the time.

angel-eyes 12-03-2005 04:32 PM

Great job Mom!!! That is such fantastic news!!! Good to hear from you. Hey?...don't be a stranger ....okay?

Hey girls....I've been struggling today for some reason. I'll blame bordeom and PMS. Either way I felt compelled to have a deliciously sinful chocolate bar. When my GF came a month ago, she brought me 3 of my favourite bars from back home. They have sat in a drawer all this time and wouldn't you know, one was calling my name!!! I have to get it out of my head now, and let it be another month or two before I eat another!!!

Today was Breakfast with Santa at my son's school. Always a crowd pleaser. The pancake chef was quite surprized when I said I wanted only one....he gave me two regardless. I should have just put one in the trash but I ate a small portion of the second one and 2 little sausages.

Does everyone have their tree's up? We have still yet to finish decorating ours, but will do it later on this afternoon. ABC Family channel has all the old time Christmas cartoons on today. Rudolf, Frosty, Little drummer boy....**sigh** those were the days!!! Have a good day everyone!!!

curlylocks 12-03-2005 05:28 PM

thanks T!

petra65 12-03-2005 07:46 PM

Yep my tree is up but not completely decorated yet. I seem to be doing it in stages. I've been working on more nut recipes today. I did the barbecued peanuts today. They turned out great. I combined two recipes. It's actually a barbecue rub for meat that I put on nuts. I also tried to do the honey barbecue thing and I can't tell if it works or not. The peanuts taste good but I can't tell if they taste like honey barbecue or not. I'll have to get someone else to try them. I've also made some today that I don't like-I made ginger soy pecans. I don't know if it's just me or not so I'll take them to work and let people try them. Maybe it would taste better on a different kind of nut? I've also tried some pumpkin seeds today and the first batch ended up in the trash. They smelled great going into the oven but they tested like crap. I have a second batch cooling. Hopefully they turned out better. I also did some maple glazed walnuts. I tried these before. They are good but they burn easily. I did better with them today.

I finally got my containers ordered so they should be here soon and a friend from church is going to come over and help me make the official ones one afternoon. I imagine this will be a more than one afternoon project but it will be nice to have the help. These will actually be somewhat expensive Christmas presents-nuts aren't cheap and I had to do all this experimenting this year. If I do this every year it might not be so bad because I at least have the recipes down.

curlylocks 12-03-2005 07:51 PM

lol i could put up a tree as long as i decorate it with chai's toys... he only chews up my stuff not his!

Petra: the nuts sound yummy...

mom: way to go!!!!!!!!

Valerie Joy 12-04-2005 03:14 PM

Hi PIC's!

We're having a nice sunday here. I need to get some more hula hoops made today. I'm selling them at a craft sale at curves tomorrow. I know everyone there thinks I'm crazy but they are really fun.. and good exercise!

My husband brought some laughing cow cheese home today from the fruit market. I've been looking for it for a while. I've been eating FF Kraft singles which are pretty nasty coming from a cheese head like me.

I really like the laughing cow wedges. I spread it on a slice of rye toast and it was yummy!. 50 calories but kinda high in saturated fat. I wonder if I got the right kind that most people here are using. It was swiss flavored.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. We're going to Lush in a bit to buy a christmas present for my sisterinlaw and hopefully a little something for me :)

angel-eyes 12-04-2005 05:28 PM

Hi Valerie. I buy the laughing cow cheese all the time. They make a regular wedge and a 'light' wedge for 30 cal and 1 Sat gr fat. I have a herb flavour right now. They are good aren't they? You might like to try Borden's Sharp slices. They are made with 2% milk and its not so rubbery as some of the ff slices I've tried. They are low in pts also. Good luck with you hula hoop sale. Never could do those blasted things!!!
