Hello Everyone... It looks like snow.....The news said 6-8 inches possible..starting this evening...I have been making veggie soup all day.
I will be taking Buddy some in a bit..I want to get back home before it starts..
I hope that it blows away..but I doubt it..

Dana.. I cant get over the ice storm there..You know when I think of SC.. I diffenently do not think snow..let alone ice.. I am sorry that you got iced in..
I sure hope that you keep your power on..I know all to well about losing it.
I cannot get over your Fathes wife.. I cannot call her step Mom..because I dont think she deserves that title..She sounds like a real doosie...I cant get over all she has done to you and your famliy.. I am so sorry that your Mom had to endure all that..It is truley ashame..and the things she did to you and your sister..she should be ashamed fo herself..I will never understand why people do the things they do. They seem to have no reguard for others..Its sad when they hurt people and do such destructive things..I am so sorry that you had to have such a person in your life..and had to see all the awful things she did and said to you all.. What a poor excuse for a Human Being..
I am glad that you are not offened with what I said.. I didnt want what I said to hurt you or anyone..I just needed to say not all "Step-Mom's" are bad..but I know that you know that..She on the other-hand is really awful..

Donna..Yes my pooter is crazy..I hope that one day someone can show me why it does the things it does.. I hope that you can get your new one straighten out..How flustrating a new pooter and probs already... Hello Everyone..Its another cold day here..We got about 8 inches of snow and now we are getting freezing rain..I will be so happy when its all gone..
I cant go anywhere today...so I am trying to keep busy here...
I saw Buddy last night.. The poor man has lost so much weight..Its so unreal what Chemo can do to people..I hope that he can start eating again and start to feel better..All the kids her are out of school today..not because of the snow..Today was a teacher work day and tomorrow too.. they get off for teacher work days...I see alot of them outside playing in the snow..
Jim is not coming home for lunch..so I will have some time for me....
I am so lazy today..I am trying to do things but I find myself right here on the pooter....I need to be moving.. I have some calls to make..so I better get off here....

Daphne....How is your weather??? I hope that you have thawed out from the deep freeze..I am sure you are happy that the ice storm went around you..but it headed our way....I hope that all of this cold weather is over soon for all of us..Have a good day..

First of all I will elaborate on the bonfire. LOL This is an annual event held by a couple from our ABF (adult bible fellowship) class from church. People bring their Christmas trees and they have a bonfire. Last year there were about 75 trees, this year there were over 200!! LOL Anyway, this man's business is located near the GSP International Airport. He contacted someone at the airport before the event and evidently did not speak to the correct person because the word was not passed along. Well, this location is in the path of the landing route to the airport and a jet passing over us radiod the control tower who in turn sent out the fire department! It was rather large but because of the dryness of the trees did not last long at all. No harm was done and no ticket was given but they told him that next time please call "so and so" LOL Elena was upset because she couldn't roast marshmallows!
No school or work today. That's why Summer, I am just now logging on. LOL Elena, her cousins and a couple of other kids on the street were sledding but that quickly came to an end when Elena landed in the creek. It would of been bad because she could of hit the rocks but she didn't. Needless to say, the kids all wanted to go in after that. Elena is all cleaned up, warm and no boo boo's. But I have to tell you it scared me. It's still very cold and the roads are so slick. There have been more than 200 accidents in the last 24 hours and I hope it doesn't do any more tonight.
Rosey, glad you are feeling some better. We just can't be sick can we?

Donna I wouldn't even let my kids out in it. It's really dangerous over here. You slip in the grass which is something else for this area. I liked to have not made it back from the mail box the first trip. I stepped into a frozen ditch to approach the box from behind and fell into the ditch. It had muddy water underneath it and it was knee high. I was frozen to the point of not feeling my feet when I got inside. Then the second trip out, I was attempting to find my car. I can't see it and that's no joke. only the tires. The ice on the top and windshield will not give and I"m afraid I will break the glass. Summer may want to reconsider moving to SC. We would rather have the snow to deal with.

Well that's a quick update here. They are calling for another round of ice in about an hour here. It's in Georgia and Alabama heading right for us. No school again tomorrow. We are running out of food quickly. I didn't plan on having to fix lunch on sunday or having the kids home for at least 2 days. DH liked to have never gotten home lastnight. He skidded all the way and left an hour early this morning. He couldn't get out of our driveway until he put it in 4 wheel drive. At least that works. Hope everyone is warm and dry.

Hi everyone..im having such a nice quiet day..im loving it..finished the quilt..the dh is off getting the car tuned up..and even tho i should be doing housework i decided to be lazy..im feeling lots better but never seem to have any me time so the heck with work today i was alooser at bingo last nite but we sure had fun..dana am so sorry your weather is all ice please be careful from yrs of living here i might suggest that you carry sand in your car(in an old coffeecan) you can throw it out in front of you if where u park its is to icy to walk..if you cant get sand buy cheap kitty litter..it works the same and dissolves in the spring rain..it gives you traction..even can throw it under the wheels of your car..or in your drive way..steps etc..we keep sand by the front door in abucket..and have the k-litter in the car..i guess we always keep prepared in the winter..also always have extra groceries..as our weather is so unpredictable..donna..what an adventure iwould have liked to have seen that bonfire ..am glad elanas ok was she scared??summer thanks for the kind words..i am much better..daphnee hows your day going is robert behaving now??kris that was good advice for daphnee..are you studying to be ateacher too..what classes are you taking..my dh has a teaching degree..taught school for 3 yrs and then we moved here and became a welder..lifes twists and turns..mr ken are you sloshing from all that water..im finding cutting down on carbs is painful i have not had any for 2 days now but boy am i getting the rouphage vegies and fruit etc but im STARVING so maybe i should modify this abit..ya think my oldest daughter has asked us to babysit in aug becuz theres a good chance that they are going to africa to help build a school for orphaned kids..its sponsered by my sil sister"s church its for 2 weeks..its such a worthwhile project but the thought of them over their with all thats going on in the world and the fact that there will be armed guards in some places scares me for them..they are just talking about it now so im keeping my oppions to myself.. what do you all think of this..on one hand i think its such a neat thing to do..on the other i feel ashamed that i fear for them..anyways food for thought..will check in later rosey

Dana, did your mail even come yesterday? Ours didn't. Jim finally made it out to the mailbox today to mail some things just in case they came today and ended up sprinkling some left over ice cream salt to make it there. Things are starting to melt some and I just hope alot does before it freezes over again tonight.

It's still cold, but hey we still have power too! So for that I am VERY thankful!

Yes we got mail donna. We live on the main road here but my mom and grandparents who live just off the road here didn't get theirs yesterday. I find that interesting that people use that ice cream salt in icy situations. You know it's used for ice cream to help your ice not not melt as quickly and to stay cold and frozen so I don't know why it can be used to melt it do you?? It's up to near 40 here right now so everything is melting but after it gets in the 20's tonight all of this water will be slippery.

Hello Everyone.. Its sleeting here now and its been that way most of the day and we are getting more snow tonight..Its really so bad that there will be no school tomorrow..the ice is really bad.. Its so slick in the parking lot.. I pray that the power stays on...I really worry about that..My pooter has been crazy..Untill I can get someone here to help me I have to deal with it..

Hi everyone...your weather sounds awful..all that ice..did you see my post about getting cheap kitty litter to carry in your car etc(sand is better tho)sprinkle it in front of you as you walk.. also the paths and steps..it can even give you traction if you get stuck by throwing it under and around your tires..and it dizzolves in the spring rains..this really helps..another quiet day..laundry and putting things back in order..just watched american idol..im stunned..and laughing alot..what makes some of those people think they can sing i have not had carbs for 3 days now..my sugar levels have come down to normal..that surprized me..but im sure struggling as im not satisfied..i wanted to try this as my sugars where getting higher than i like and after thinking about it i always head for the carbs when eating..bread esp..i dont plan on eliminating all of them but certainly provded my body doesnt handle carbs well.. we are going to anch tomorrow for the dh dr appt..we will probably stay overnite..will check in when i get home..stay safe everyone ((((((((((hugs))))))))))))..rosey

Have a good and safe trip rosey. We'll miss you. Thanks for all of your ice suggestions. What we had melted yesterday is worse today cause it's 27 degrees out there now with 30 to 40 mph winds. School is on a 2 hour delay. I just hope I don't get stuck in these icy patches trying to get out of here. We plan on getting groceries today as well but will only have 4 hours to get anything done before school lets out.

Dana, schools are closed again today here. We drove out some last night and the main roads were ok but the secondary and back roads to the school was really bad and that was when it was 44 degrees out last night. Jim went to work today and he said there were some spots but he took his time and was fine. The temps are suppose to be a little warmer today so it should melt what is left of the ice stuff. If there isn't school tomorrow I'll be really surprised. Still I am so glad that we got through this ice storm without losing our power!

Summer, I was chatting with my sil in NJ and she was saying it's suppose to get really bad there today. I sure hope you are not in the middle of the storm that is heading up northwardly. MB doesn't usually see snow and ice that's for sure. We live in the upper part of the state nearest to the mountains so that is why we see more if any. Alot of people have this misconception that if you live in the south there is always magnolia blooms and hot weather I think just like we associate the North with snow all the time. But alot of times the same kind of weather my sil is having in NJ we would be experiencing the same temps. so it's not a easy thing that there mother nature stuff! I can hear the sweet sounds of water melting and going down our water spouts on the outside of our house. LOL Such a sweet, sweet sound. Snow is nice but not that ice!!! LOL

I am hoping to be able to venture to the drug store and grocery store today as well. We were not prepared for a lock in but still had plenty to eat which showed up on my scale this morning for there wasn't a change in weight. I may have mentioned that I have to take medication every day for my acid reflux/hiatal hernia disease or GERD as you may have seen it. I ran out before the weekend and was going to get the over the counter medication till I could get another mail in prescription from my doctor. Well, because of the weather that didn't help with my procrastination and now I am suffering. The hital hernia is really giving me a fit. Yesterday the pain was so bad that if I didn't know any better I would of thought it was a heart attack. I get so mad at myself for not doing better than that. It's not like I didn't see it coming that the prescription was running out. BUT dumb me thought well, whats a few days without the medicine. It shouldn't be that bad but it is. So... off to the drug store we go today!

Its another day of diggin out of this stuff....Schools are closed and prob be closed tomorrow..It so cold and all the ice..I worry about the power still..Its windy too..Jim said the roads were really bad in places this morning and the secondary roads were not good at all because of the ice..I told him to be real careful out there..Everyone is so sick of this stuff..

Summer the only problem I had with the falling incident was getting my feet, shoes and legs soaking wet and frozen to the point of no feeling in my feet for about half hour. I had them in front of a heater for a while. Myrtle beach doesn't normally see any wintry weather but they did get some ice late on sunday. Our schools went back today cause it's in the 40's now and with the exception of the little bits of ice in shady spots, it was well enough to get them back to school. I did make it to the grocery store to the tune of $250 too. Geesh! Well I will post later. I only have about 45 minutes before school gets out. What a short day and I have laundry to finish. Not to mention I haven't eaten anything today. By the way, I gained 1/2 pound this week.
