Happy
Glad you mentioned the ticks. I'm sure that their will be some in the Smokies. I'll take some otc med for that too just in case.

Ellen
You are so busy, but still yet have time to do some fun things.

Annie
Glad you had some down time. We all need to relax.

Laura
That's exactly what my sis said about this coming Friday.

Mel
Ewww bed bugs. At least they are keeping up with the situation.

Shad
Are you home yet? Saw on FB where you were at the air port.

Patty
Where have you gotten off to?

------
Whew I've been having leg cramps big time. My left leg is really sore right now. Can't figure out what is going on, I've been taking my potassium and eating foods rich in potassium. I do this every time I take a fluid pill. But my lower back has been bothering me too, where the bone spurs are. It may be related. I'm taking some Mobic/Meloxicam tonight and the rest of the week.
Need to stop at Walmart tonight to pick up a few items.

Morning all.

Ceejay - Leg cramps - ouch! I hope the cramps and back pain ease up quickly, especially before you start your drive.

Mel - What a shame the seniors short themselves on the AC and it leads to serious health problems. I think AC is worth every penny when it's been as hot as it was. (Just remind me of that when the electric bill arrives!) Re The Good Witch - I looked online and saw there was another movie completed and I thought that was why they were re-running all the previous movies. Do you know anything about that?

Michelle - If they're giving you an ID badge, you must be official now. Glad the physical went well. Okay, did a quick search and think I know which hospital it is. Yay for you!!

Ellen - Your week sounded very busy but fun. Swimming was definitely the best outdoor activity last week.

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies.
++++
Nothing much to report. Didn't do much of anything after work except fill my bike's tires with air. Bf & I made a deep-fried mushroom recipe we haven't had in a long time using the deep fryer bf won in a silent auction. It's a discontinued model - Tfal cool-touch, but it's much simpler and a better design than the behemoth he'd bought a couple years ago and used once. The 'shrooms turned out really well - having the oil at the proper temperature helped them cook without absorbing too much oil.

Well, I picked two movies as my choices for tonight and one of them, Magic Mike, was chosen. I checked the site metacritic and it didn't do too badly with the movie critics, so in spite of two bad reviews from Annie and my friend D. and a mixed one from Ellen, I will go and if nothing else, ogle away.

That's about it, so I'll get this posted. Have to work on the operating report this morning and having lunch with a work buddy. Oh, and the boss will be out of the office the rest of the weeking starting this afternoon, so it'll be nice and quiet around here.

Have a good day/evening everyone!

Good afternoon ladies -

I've got a few minutes to check in before I'm off to a meeting for a few hours.

====================
Laura - The physical only took an hour, and then nearly another hour to go to the other departments and do paperwork, etc. It is a challenge getting good produce, especially if we miss the weekly Farmer's Market (which hasn't offered much lately). But there is a great produce store on the south side of Milwaukee where the owner goes to Chicago every morning, and buys it traight off the boats or trucks or whatever. I'll probably stop there on Friday, since I'll be on the southside of MKE for the doggies' vet visit and my hair appt. I'm like you, when I'm sleep deprived even for one night, I'm super cranky the next day, and then I wind up sick. I can't even imagine people's stupidity leaving children and animals in a car in the heat. IDIOTS!! I am SO running into the same conundrums (sp?) as you regarding planning my b'day party. Home outdoors? Home indoors in case it rains (in early sept)? restaurant/bar? I don't know. Aaargh!

Mel - How wonderful that Hallmark is treating you to a holiday movie marathon!! I've been so busy lately, I haven't had time to keep up on the movies and shows I've DVRed recently. good luck with the bed bug inspection. That sounds so nasty. I'm glad you and Jen don't have any.

Happy - So nice that you and DH found some nice walking trails. Bummer that the bugs found you on the trails though. When DH is closer to 100%, I really want to go hiking. But I'm definitely not comfortable walking alone on trails (never know if an animal or lunatic could getcha) so I'll wait 'till DH is stronger. That's good that you're finally getting some peace in paradise. Your company physical story was really creepy. Mine was NOTHING like that, thank goodness. Clothes on 100% of the time, and a female nurse practitioner performed the exam (eyes, ears, throat, glands, bp, pulse, listened to my heartbeat and breathing, proper lifting technique, that was about it.

Ellen - Your week sounds crazy busy. Lots of fun stuff, but really busy nonetheless. It's a good thing you worked last night to give you a breather. LOL

Ceejay - I'm excited for you about your vacation. No vacay for DH and me this year with changing jobs and paying off medical bills. I take Mobic/Meloxicam for my back. It really helps. I hope the leg cramps ease up before you go on vacation.

Annie - It's always better to be busy at work than to be bored. Glad you had fun with Lil Monkey and some relaxation time with C.

Gotta head to the meeting.

Much love and hugs to all,

Hi all,

Not sure where the day went. Oh wait, had to resend the claim for medical reimbursement because they wanted something else. We get horrid cell reception here - got a new no contract phone and trying to decide if we want to keep it. Wound up getting a cell phone booster today that did nothing. (2 houses down the road we go from 1 bar to 3 ) Don't know if we want to pay $400 for a more powerful cell phone booster for the house. It's not too bad on the road - we get 2 or 3 bars compared to none with AT&T. I went through a issue of Cooking Light and selected a couple of options for dinner this week - cooking and housecleaning sure do take up alot of my free retirement time Looked a bit more at jobs - not much in the first place and they want to pay the absolute minimum wage and give you only a few hours a week. Not sure I want to work 2 days a week to take home 45 dollars. So thanks for the book suggestions Michelle but they will do no good up this way. I'm sure if I said I'd work for 5 bucks an hour I'd be snapped up in an instant And then here it is 3pm already.

Michelle - glad your physical went well - sounds like everything is snapping into place.

Laura - enjoy your movie - three things I learned from watching all the cooking shows is that yes, you have to have the oil REALLY hot for things to cook properly - crisp up and retain the moisture in the food. If the food is greasy, the oil wasn't at the right temp. Also don't overcrowd the pan when frying - if too much is in the pan, the moisture from the food "steams" the stuff next to it and you can't get a good sear. Finally went you put something in a hot pan, let it sit long enough to crust. Once it crusts, it will lift right from the pan. I always would try to turn pork chops too soon and the meat would stick to the pan in shreds. Leave it until it's got a carmelized crust and it works just great. There... I've saved you 100 hours of watching 150 cooking shows Hope you enjoy the movie. I figured the only reason anyone went to see Magic Mike was the hardbodies. Kinda like reading Playboy just for the articles Good luck with planning BFs party - time or money - you will have to spend excesses of one or the other. I would opt for the least effort on my part, central location and would pay for the convienience. This is prime cost for renting cabins in WI but if you rented a place that slept 12 and knew people would drive up for a weekend that might be fun but most people don't have enough time off to warrant a long drive. So go with a local restaurant - you have lots of nice ones to pick from.

Ceejay - hope the leg cramps let up. Don't want to drive in pain.

Mel - never thought about having a bed bug inspection but I suppose that's a great way to keep vermin out, especially since the buggers can travel on upholstery and such. Don't be accepting anything people leave at your door I totally hear you on the seniors not using the a/c. My sister keeps hollering at my Mom that she doesn't want a phone call that Mom fell over and passed out from the heat! If they aren't complaining about the cost, they are complaining they don't like the wind blowing on them We're having either fajitas tonight (not spicy) or stir fry beef and snow peas - what would you like but hurry with your answer as I am about to start on supper

Ellen - the raccoon is around but not going near the house. DH has a mesh bag of mothballs by the entrance that I totally DETEST smelling. Not sure that's much of a deterent. I guess your "vacation" has zoomed by - at least you got out by yourself for a few hours. Sounds like it's back to crazy busy again.

Annie - got a big laugh from the idea of Lil Man asking Sophia out for a bottle :baby: Hope you were not suffocated by all the paperwork. Watch out for those nasty papercuts too! At least the day goes by fast.

Hi Patty & Java

Ok, I've decided I want fajitas. Better go make some salsa and guac. Fajitas are easy to make but take alot of prep time. Later chicks.

Shad - glad there were no monsters at the gate to snatch you away from us. Are you to be called Supergranny now or is the DS riding you one? As for the baby - Big feet??? Well perhaps it's like a puppy of a large breed - born with huge paws that they eventually grow into. This one looks to be model tall. Is Mum or Dad a long and lanky one? She looks cute, winking already. I think Lil Man best mind himself

Doctor's appointment this a.m. Got me up before the dew dried on the grass and it's quite wet out there. Glad I'm not camping.

Mel - not to brag but the steak fajitas were fabulous last night. You would have enjoyed them. Fresh fruit salad too which was refreshing. I've got the leftovers stowed in the fridge waiting on your arrival. Tell the dirty girly with the bedbugs she is not allowed to wash her bedding in the communial washers. Ick but I suppose that happens in multi family dwellings. Poor Ritchie sounds like the poor boy works very hard trying to pay the rent. Hope he will be ok.

Guess the rest of you lot has not woken up yet so I'll let you wake up, get your coffee and your thoughts organized. I will be back later...

Hump Day/Trash Day/and I am too fat day!

My clothes are so tight I look like a stuffed potato in a undersized sack. I have been eating better the past several days but know it takes time to see a result. I am so impatient. Praying for that. We truly need that commune for the added support of actually being together. HAPPY...that would be your place. Move over bear, we are moving in. lol.

Well girls it is official, I am going through menopause. I started having hot flashes about 3 weeks ago and I am NOT liking it. About 8-10 a day. Night sweats, and also learned that crying is also a side effect of menopause. There it is folks in black and white. I am not as nuts as I thought I was. I read on ling that Dong Quai (supplement) will help with hot flashes. Flax seed will help with night sweats. I am going to Whole Foods this week and get both to see if they work. Before I figured it out and talked with my doc, I thought maybe I had something seriously wrong with me. lol. By the time I get home from work I need a shower due to all the sweating. It is just awful.

For personal reasons, I am no longer on FB. I deactivated my account. Evidently you can still access my page tho. Which means you are in cyberspace forever...was anyway probably.

HAPPY....I fixed tacos last night for dinner...we are on the same wave length for chow again. I love mexican food. Probably my favorite. OMG I love your avitar. I told the girls in the office and they all cracked up. I told C and bless his heart, he said it was not funny. Thanks for the cooking show run down. I never have time to watch any of those. Have you tried Verizon in your area for reception? Just a thought.

SHADDIE...Miss Sophie is just adorable. Lil man has long legs also, man if those two hook up we will have and 8ft great grandbabe. lol. Sophie probably has long fingers too, a piano player. Welcome home to the rings, dings, and knocks on the door. Just put a sign on the door like MELLIE does.

LAURA...well what are your thoughts on the movie Magic Mike? I love deep fried mushrooms, but end up only eating the mushroom part as the breading fills my tummy too fast. Kind of defeats the purpose of fried mushrooms.

CEEG....I am telling you sista, try the bar of soap in the bed at night for leg cramps. It works wonders. I put a bar of Ivory soap in a knee hi stocking and tied it off, then put it in bed about ankle/calf area. And if I do get a cramp, I run the bar of soap over where the cramp is and it helps a lot. Fluid pills as my BP pill takes the water/potassium out of our system, which doesn't help with cramps.

CHELLE...so glad the physical went well. I know you are so psyched about your new job...see good things come to those who wait. Hope DH continues to recover quickly. Glad DMIL is enjoying the surprise boxes.

MELLIE...poor Richie. Sounds like when C gets home, just about to die. C goes in and stands in a cool shower for about 10 minutes. Thank God his truck at his new job is air conditioned and an automatic. Hostess was not air conditioned and had to shift gears. He was really beat when he came home from Hostess. I just don't get how people can stand to live in filth and dirt. It is so disgusting. Glad there are no bugs on your floor. I feel you on the heat thing and we have NO rain in site. Weatherman keeps teasing us with a "possible scattered shower", that never happens. I think his brain is a scattered shower.

ELLEN....I wish I knew someone with a pool besides my BF in St. Louis. That is kind of a long drive to swim. Nice you can take the kidlets somewhere to enjoy the water.

Hey to Patty....

Have a great day/night..

Loves and hugs...

quick post as I am swamped at work. Lots to get done before I'm outta here tomorrow.

Shad - Sophia is certainly "tall" and pretty enough to be a model.

Annie - You're not alone, I'm going through menopause too...Hot flashes, night sweats...no fun. But at least no cramps. LOL

Happy - I hope the doc appt goes well.

Anyway, I gotta run. A big to all.

Much love and many hugs,

Morning all.

Michelle - Glad your physical went quickly & well, and wasn't creepy like Happy's!!

Happy - I've definitely learned a lot from the cooking shows, but I guess I thought that when deep frying, certain foods could require lower temps...but it certainly makes sense to have a higher temp going because the oil will cool once you've added the food to it. Mmmm, fajitas. We've never tried to make those, though we have considered buying the prepared fajita meat/peppers/onion that our local market sells. I certainly understand not wanting to work a job w/ few hours and low pay - unless it was something you really enjoyed doing and would essentially do for free.

Mel - No, I've only seen the GW movies you listed, but I looked again online and it was on Wikipedia that I saw that #5 & 6 will be filmed in July/Aug of this year. For some reason I misread and thought they'd been filmed last year. Duh. But now we know we have something to look forward to! Poor Richie! I suppose I assumed he worked outdoors in some type of construction/trade, but it sounds like his work is just as physically demanding and in hot conditions. I sure hope he's feeling better now!

Shad - Looks like little Sophia will grow up to be a tall drink of water - time will tell.

Annie - I hope you find some meds to make you more comfortable while going through menopause, and that it doesn't take too long. Magic Mike was not a great story at all, but the stripping scenes were entertaining... Mmmm, tacos. Bf and I love Mexican food too and we seem to either make tacos every other week and/or go to a local taqueria for them (or tortas or burritos, etc.).

Hellos to Ceejay & Patty!! Hope you're both keeping your cool.
---
As I told Annie - Magic Mike was fun for the dancing/stripping scenes, but the storyline was lame. I hadn't seen anything w/ Channing Tatum but heard he wasn't much of an actor, and I tend to agree. Matthew McConnaghy was perfect for his role - just the right blend of sleazy and smarmy. I'm not even sure he was acting, hahaha. I can't believe my friend D didn't think the strippers were hot enough - gonna tell her to get her vision checked, lol.

Nothing much else to report. One more episode of The Good Wife to watch in season 2 (dvd due back to the library tonight) and then we have to wait for the library to get season 3.

Okay, back to work. Have to get some stuff done before a meeting at 10.

Have a good day everyone!

morning,
I've tried once before to post but started having some problems at work. I wasn't told that the our new super Walmart store would start flushing out a 15 inch main to pull bacteria samples. They'll do it again tomorrow and maybe Friday. They have to have at least three consecutive good samples. They installed new water lines. Wish people would inform me.

Vacation is getting closer. I'm getting more and more excited except for the long drive out there. I told my sis I'm going to break it up into 4 hours for Thursday and finish the drive on Sautrday.

Took my mobic/Meloxicam last night and feel much better.

Shad
Guess your grand baby has two little men to choose from. My great nephew is almost 3 weeks old. And from his pictures he's going to be tall. To me he already looks 3 or four months old.

Laura
Our temperatures have dropped dramatically since the rain. It has brought out the mosquito's. The grass has even greene up some.

Happy
I agree with the hot oil in frying things. My aunt makes the best fried okra and squash in her deep fryer. My cousin lovese to cook and keeps tempting me with all her goodies. She has her own web sight at AuntNubby@blog spot.com. Most of it is good home cooking.

Mel
Are you staying out of trouble. Poor Richie beinig sick is no fun at all

Michelle
I know you are excitedgetting to start your dream job on Monday. Glad the physical didn't take to long.

Hello's to Patty and Ellen

Hello Ladies,
Good news about mom, went to see several doctors and they concluded it is a torn cartlidge in wrist and swelling of tendons. Her hand is feeling better. After we got the news on thursday afternoon I asked her if she still wanted to go to San Antonio for wedding on saturday.. She said yes, so came home back, got car ready and friday pick her and dad up. Had a great time but came home on sunday. Worn out, house is a mess, but had a great weekend.

Shad - Congratulations on baby. She is definitely has long legs. When do you get to go home?

Ceejay - are you coming to Texas? If yes, i would love to meet up with you.

Annie - We have been very blessed to have rain this year. Last year we were in a terrible drought, but in spring got lots of rain and actually rain in June. It's actually raining right now. Last year at this time I think we had 30 days over 100 and this July not even one. They are saying that produce & food will be going up as many of the corn fields are burning up, up in the midwest.

Laura - I want to see Magic Mike. I heard the storyline was bad but the view is good . I need to check out my library to see what DVD they have.

Michelle - Glad to hear everything is going well with the job.

Mel - Yeah, no Bed Bugs! I worry about them when i travel, I was told NOT to put luggage on bed or floor. So what am I suppose to do with it?

Happy - I hope your Doctor's appointment is just a routine checkup!

hi to Ellen!
