Afternoon ladies, heading off for work shortly, I made and appt with the doc for Monday, so we will see how that goes. Just still hanging by a thread but will make it thru. DH has to work tomorrow so I cut my start time back then my brother will keep an eye on the kiddies until DH gets home. Tons of fun.

OMG between Annie and Mel coming over I'd be ready to move with 1 cardboard box and one suitcase only. My stuff my stuff my stuff, where's my stuff Actually I was going through stuff in the computer cabinet last night and I am forcing myself to answer honestly just WHY would you want to keep this???? It is helping me chuck stuff. And I am createing a give away pile to take to work or Habitat for Humanity. We had an extra door in the garage - I said to use it in the new house but DH said it would not "go" with the style of the new place so he sold it to one of the guys doing work at the house. He is giving me 2/3 of the money for my "toy" fund which I thought was nice of him.

The work is coming along on the bath. DH said he has to watch over the guys constantly. They are decent people and good workers but they take shortcuts or don't know how to do something properly. So he is keeping them on the straight and narrow. Said he was going to have a battle on his hands today over how they are laying the tile on the wall. But I think this should be done in about a week's time which will be nice. We are going to pick out a slab of granite for the counter top tomorrow.

Today's Jillian ad to the right - They have given her "man arms" - she must be on steroids , she got a b00b job and they have done something odd on the photoshopping of her hips.

Poor Jen Mel. Pain from head to toe. That's no good. Make her a stiff drink! And have her sit in a nice warm bath. I'm glad to hear that your pain has eased up a bit and the office people have FINALLY realized that they cannot keep pushing you. Sometimes you just have to yell loud and say NO alot.

Ceejay - I'll take a piece of meatloaf too I love it but cannot make a good one myself. So I eat other peoples' It's soooooo gorgeous out today that I envy you outside. Just be careful on the ladder, will you?

Annie - yes speedily is a real word. What's going to pain me the most to give away is some really cute work outfits - more dressy - that are about 3 sizes too small. Not that far out of reach. Some of them I never wore but got them on end of season sales. I don't know if I want to leave them here or donate them up north. I think I'd rather give them away up north actually. If people wouldn't wear them for work they could wear them to church or a wedding or other dress up occasion Since we have the man cave, DH said he would be ok if we took some stuff up and put it there and had a garage sale when we moved in. It's protected and out of the way. Don't know - have to think about it. Wish there was a way to easily get a couch up there and free tv service. We will have to buy a digital antenna before we go up there for a week. Would rather have internet than tv though...

Anyway I digress. Annie - you have jinxed yourself with the cable guy by actually having plans - now he will not only come at the last minute, he will be a little late too! You should have overslept and been sitting in your comfy grubbies downing a cup of coffee thinking about sneaking in a quick shower and that would have had him ringing your door bell early I hope he gets done quickly so you can finish your garden. Sounds like you are going to have a nice veggie patch. They have a Lowe's commercial out here that shows people working outside planting circles of flowers in the yard. It is a lovely picture but all I can think of is how MUCH that cost - despite the premise of the ad which is "we're cutting prices at Lowe's so you can plant more".

Shad - I want to change my previous answer. Yes, we sometimes display penquin behavior. It's those few and far between moments of cuteness that keeps God from coming back down and smacking us all to hellinahandbasket. By the way - rapture (the end of the world) starts tomorrow and carries on for 5 months of horror. I don't have an exact time as of yet... but I'm glad I have bullets and extra water. I probably should make an extra stop at the ATM before I leave work today also.

Michelle - good for you for pumping it up in water aerobics class. One of my doctors said the only good thing about aqua aerobics was that it kept you out of the refrigerator for an hour We ain't all marathoners sister I wanted to say to her. I thought that disability was on the federal level - not statewide. I have mixed feelings about all the cuts BUT if they don't start taking a hard look at things, everything will implode soon. We plan on being as self sufficient as we can up north. DH is even looking into some solar panel options. I hope you don't have to work too long this weekend.

Ellen - hope both you and DD are feeling better rolling into the weekend...

Laura - ok, your job to get the hunky brothers as Daryl and Daryl once we get the commune set up. Annie and Mel will find hot jobs for them to work bare chested That's a pain with getting the meetings hijacked. I have resorted to soft but firm insistance to sticking to the agenda. My team is major yakkers and we often laugh about the lighting speed in which they can go off topic. It takes a certain skill to keep the meetings on track - hopefully you can enlist your manager to back you up.

Time for me to get back to work. Not sure if I will post much over the weekend - we are getting into serious busy busy mode at home. I am looking forward to the 3 day weekend next weekend. Mom will be here soon afterwards for her visit and we'd like to get the house here listed by the end of July. So I will just have to buckle down and say if Annie can work 2 jobs, so can I ... have a good weekend ladies.

Happy Friday!

The weekend is so close, I don't even have to stand on my tip toes to see it! Yesterday, at PT, the therapist really worked me out hard. To look at the moves, they looked pretty easy, but to keep proper stomach, back and pelvis alignment...that was the tough part. When I got home, I planted all my tomato, cucumber, beans and lettuce plants. I also have some seedlings that will be ready to go in after Memorial Day weekend.

During my lunch hour today, I mowed both the front and back yard. After work, I'll be pulling dandelions and doing some trimming with the weed whacker. But don't worry, I'll have a chair or stool nearby so that I can rest when I need to. It's so nice out...I wish I didn't have to work today so I could spend the entire day outside. After the yardwork is done, I'll take DMIL for a drive to the library for some books about things to do and see in the Upper Peninsula. I also have to go through the OTC and Rx medications that we have and put any that have expired in a bag because tomorrow is our county's clean sweep day where we can dump off expired meds, old computer equipment and anything else that's not safe to just toss in a landfill.

I'm hoping to get a chance to relax a bit tomorrow and/or Sunday as I still have to finish the final Harry Potter book before I have to take it back to the Library on Wednesday.

I'm only a little sore today, and I'm in such a good mood (maybe from the sunshine and working in the yard) that I feel like dancing!

*************
Shad - I hope you had a nice Friday with no arguments, and little or no meetings. I often think that animals act like humans and that humans can really act like animals. The penguin photos are adorable and really brightened my day. Thanks!

Mel - Bummer about the phones and doorbells being out. I hope they're able to get them fixed soon so you can have a good weekend. Please tell Jen that I hope she feels better soon, poor dear. I'm glad your pain is subsiding, and I hope you feel even better very soon. Thanks for the TGIF in the biggest font (like Shad requested)! You're absolutely correct about penguins...they can never be as mean as humans can sometimes be. What is it about the end pieces of meatloaf? Those are my DMIL's favorite too.

Ceejay - So nice that your house got cleaned while you were running other errands and enjoying lunch with your friend. Be careful if you get on the ladder to trim the bushes. The meatloaf sounds so yummy!!

Annie - I hope the cable guy got there in time so you could still get lots done on your day "off". I am amazed by how much you accomplish. You're like a whirlwind. Do you ever sit down?

Ellen - I'm so glad to hear that you are seeing the doc on Monday. Sending you lots of hugs. Remember we're here for you.

Happy - I'm almost tempted to ask Annie and Mel to come over and help me do a huge clean and pitch. I'm glad you found a system that's working for you. I'm glad the bath is coming along. I've been wondering about the rapture starting tomorrow. According to the 89 year old Californian millionaire, it's supposed to start with a massive quake in Fiji and New Zealand that will cause ripples around the world. This guy has predicted the end of the world/rapture several times before and been (obviously) wrong...but he swears this is the "real" thing. Ya, riiiiight. I know water aerobics isn't as good a calorie burner as walking or jogging or Zumba...but it's better than me glueing my butt to the couch. And I also know that 60 minutes of water aerobics probably burns as many or more calories than 5 minutes of walking, which is about all I can do right now. As for disability being at the State or Federal...you can get social security disability, but many states have state disability too. And they also offer medical insurance for low income people and seniors. In California, it's called Medi-Cal. Here in WI, it's called Badger Care and Senior Care. I agree that some cuts need to be made, but you can just leave the poor to die because they can't afford medical care or the prescriptions they need. I like the idea of being self-sufficient and solar panels. Do solar panels work on a cloudy or snowy day? I hope you get a little relaxing time over the weekend (even if you don't have time to post). Sending you : to help you stay on track with your to do list, and have a productive (and enjoyable) weekend!

I've got a few loose ends to tie up before it's time to do a major smack down on some dandelions and other weeds!

Lots of love and hugs to all,

Michelle
I don't put my faith in any man's prediction that the end of time is tomorrow. Only GOD knows for sure when that will be.

My bushes have been trimmed. They are still to big so in a few weeks I'm going to cut them back.

Called my sis in MO and told her that I'd be coming her way on June 1.

I have two good recipes for meatloaf. One is the one my grandmother made and the other is from a cook book that the ladies from my sister's church published. To be honest it's about the only I can cook.

Ceejay - I don't believe for a minute about the Rapture prediction for tomorrow. I guess I used the wrong word when I said I was "wondering". I really don't believe the prediction or worry about it in the least. Good for you for getting the bushes trimmed. I make a really good meatloaf too. I'll bet your sister is so happy to see you!

Well the end time has come and gone in several time zones and I guess I am not the chosen one.

I've been busy in the kitchen today. I've cleaned a couple of scientific experiments out of the fridge and cleaned the fridge and freezer. Done the shopping - better not be the end of the world since I spent a fair amount on food for the week. I do not want to be out of pocket thank you.

I've done a couple of loads of washing and the DS2 did two as well. I was going out to repot some of the african violets but the rain beat me to it. And now I will finish watching the footy game and go to bed. DS2 has gone to sleep on the couch and seems to be deep under as well. I should fold up the washing too. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.

I'll do personals in the morning. Just thought I would let you know that today was not the end of the world on this side of the world.

Good morning chicks,

It's a cloudy morning but I'm sure the sun still rose over the mid south. Not the end of the world yet, but I haven't left the house and gotten on the roads. Could change any minute

Here I am up at 6am on a Saturday. That is criminal. Slugging some coffee trying to wake up. I'm about to hit the shower. DH and I have lots to do this morning so I can't stick around for personals. Just wanted to say good morning to you and check in from my side of town.

I am glad Shad is at the watch tower (no pun intended to the Jehovah's Witnesses religious group). I'm still counting on you friend to sound the alarm if you see the quake rolling from NZ.

Till then better go pick out my granite and grout, glasses and maybe I won't get quite as much meat at the butcher because as Shad so aptly put it - why be out of pocket

Glad you are so cheery this morning Mel

Later chicks... I'd better hop in the shower - don't want to be caught naked because there is NO rapture looking at my nude body

Morning all and happy Sunday even if it is raining and cool.

We really should stop listening to stupid news articles about dotty old men predicting the end. As Ceejay so rightly said, no one human being can predict the end and we should just accept that when one's passport expires, one should just go quietly, it is their time.

Ceejay - here they pay out leave days when you get passed the annual leave point. We get 4 weeks leave in most cases - but few get to take them other than in one or two day stints so they add up. Once it gets past the national allowance point, the employers start getting jittery and get on your case about taking the leave - then they load you up with more work so you can't take it anyway. And they end up paying out for the days. It's no wonder I work for myself.

Happy - Hope you get a good start on the house work and stuff this weekend. It has to be done and unless you pay for it, there is no one else to do it for you - Mel and Annie aside. I dare say DH is hoping that you will see the light and get rid of the unpacked boxes in the garage and the clothes you can not wear. I once kept an outfit for years hoping to fit back into it and when I did, I found it was more problem than it was worth. For one, my style had changed, and 2 the fabric was not the easy wash and wear stuff it is today.

Mel - peeee ewwwww. The things you must do. It will be better when we get to the commune and you only have to clean up after us.
Christmas in your head already? Are you jamming in plenty of life and fun things before the end comes?

Michelle - aqua aerobics actually burns more calories than it seems. It is a very good exercise for those with joint problems and back problems. If there was one close to here, I would probably go myself. It's the water resistance that apparently does the deed.

Annie - hope the boiled egg syndrome has gone. The smell of boiled eggs, much as I like them always reminds me of the sulphur smell of Rotorua in NZ. Thermal wonderland yes, but you do need a peg on your nose from time to time.

Laura - hope you are having a good weekend. And that your weather is better than ours. I will need to go out in it later to rescue the laundry and put it in the dryer. Oh happy day for my power company!!!

Ellen - hope all is well in your house and that you seek the advice of the doctor. Annie will be after you with a stick if you don't.

Right, well there are things that must be done, spaces that need dusting and cleaning. Pots that need repotting and plants that need to be planted and / or harvested even in the rain. I need to read up on Prometheus today as well so I can write the doco and maybe get to finish this course tomorrow at work. And since I have stopped the ceiling fans, you really don't want to see the dust bits on them! More work. Have a good Saturday - whats left of it.

Hello all. Just checking in. My dayoff yesterday was so-so. I had gone to bed with the start of a headache and woke up friday morning feeling crummy- a combo of allergy & head cold fluid filling my sinus cavities AND one of those TOM hormonal headaches. I took I ibuprofen & went to bed for the rest of the AM. I felt better & took doggy for walk by the creek. Gorgeous day! But bf had gone to a few garage sales w/o me in search of a patio set. In the afternoon we priced new sets at a couple stores - Pricey for good ones, and we want those swivel/ rocker type chairs... After that was the dog's bath &'vet appts. Reading & Preening the garden beds after that, followed by Costco & dinner.

Today was my circuit class, laundry,& a couple errands. Tonigh is a bday get together w/ friends -several Falling within the month. Time to get changed for that. Be back for personals tomorrow.

Howdy chicks,

Rather glad the end of the world didn't happen after all. I still have lots to do.

We started our day driving out to a very bad section of town. I was quite nervous and glad that DH had his gun with him. All for a ceramic threshold which they did not have the color we wanted so back he goes on Monday. How I'm not sure since he can't leave the guys at the house alone and I have to work. The contractor picked out an ugly color of threshold and we didn't like it. (Big surprise). Of course that was the most popular color but the fact that it didn't go with the floor tile was just a small incidental. Then we had an hour's drive north to the stone store to pick out some granite for the counter. I was glad we had the GPS with us, made it alot easier as we were out in the sticks/country. The owner was a very pleasant guy who looked like he might be a part time wrestler on the side but he was soooo nice and helpful. He kept swatting wasps away from me. The contractor had said he was going to pick up the granite but I'm glad DH said we'd go pick it out. Surprise number 2 - the color the contractor wanted was very bland. And did not go with the tile we had picked out. Now the wrestler man did say that decorators loved that Venetian Gold but it is a gray background with specs of black and gray - VERY neutral. Would probably go well with black cabinets or dark wood - not our color scheme. We found another slab we liked a lot and then DH crouched down and spotted one that was absolutely perfect. It's a white background with a black vein and just a touch of cream that warms it up and goes great with the warm beige tile in the tub area. I couldn't have found a more perfect match if I tried! And it JUST fit the length we needed. Contractor man will be rolling his eyes when he sees it but too bad. Did I mention that his crew didn't carry out alot of his ideas too? I think the bath is going to be just lovely and it's a darn shame that we got it so nice looking and spent so much money and now we are leaving. Just like our house up north. But I hope this will help it to sell quickly. We got in touch with a realtor and will meet with her next month so that gives us a chance to get more done in here.

After the stone place we stopped at a vegetable stand and I got some tomatoes. It's a bit early in the season for alot of stuff - what many stands do is buy produce in bulk and resell it - not exactly farm fresh, not exactly cheap so I am chosy about what I buy. We also stopped at the butcher shop and got some pork chops, steaks, bacon and chicken legs and some yummy garlic cheddar bisquits. All for a pittance compared to the grocery store. By that time we were hungry and doubled back over towards the stone place to stop at a favorite BBQ place we rarely go to because it's so far out. Had some fried green tomatoes (yum) and DH had fried dill pickles. We both had some bbq ribs, potato salad and baked beans. They had fresh bread rolls too that DH scarfed down. After a roll and the tomatoes, I couldn't eat more than a few bites of my lunch so I brought it home. Will be lunch or dinner for one of us. We were going to go pick up our new glasses but we were really tired and yawning on the way home and took a nap when we got in. Got up at 5 and DH went out to mow the lawn and I stayed in and did laundry and cleaned up. Also went through some stuff. I admit it's getting a bit overwhelming with all that has to be done. I am sorting things into 4 piles - keep/use up, toss, give away or box up to take to the new house since I don't need it right now (like books I want to read but don't have time for at the moment). It does seem like I make more of a mess sorting than I do cleaning but I am trying to stay hard and fast about the things I keep and immediately boxing things or putting them neatly away if I intend to use them up so that things don't lay around looking messy. It will help alot when this bathroom gets finished although we will keep a minimum of things in there. I also am learning to step away from the big picture and focus on cleaning one drawer, shelf or box at a time and keeping things neat once I tidy them up.

Tommorrow I hope we can go pick up our glasses although they don't open until noon which really cuts the day in half. I have the laundry done and only need to pick up some perishables like coffee, creamer, milk and juice at the store this week - no big grocery shopping which is helpful. I feel badly that I want to help DH with the yard work but I said I can only do one thing at a time - in or out. He said he'd rather have me doing the inside stuff. He also said that one of the reasons he's in a rush to get out of here is that the yard work is getting to be way too much for him. He came in soaked this afternoon - took 2 hours to mow the lawn. At least up north he's got a nice riding mower waiting for him. And picking up the stuff on the patio is a never ending job - always something falling out of the trees.

Well I didn't really mean to make this post all about me but my last load of laundry is ready to go in the dryer (towels) and even though I took a nap I'm kind of tired so I think I will go to sleep and get up a little earlier tomorrow but certainly not at 6am again

Will catch up with personals as I have coffee tomorrow. Night all...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE
I HAD A WELL RESTED NIGHT WITH ONLY 1 INTERRUPTION. A DRUNKEN WOMAN TENANT WANTED ME TO REPLACE HER OLD WASHER TOKENS WITH QUARTERS THAT THE NEW MACHINE TAKES. I MUST HAVE REPEATED "MONDAY SEE THE OFFICE" ABOUT 30 TIMES BEFORE SHE LEFT. WATCHED TV ALL NIGHT AND THEN ABOUT 11 O'CLOCK I STARTED GIGGLING AFTER I SHUT THE LIGHTS OFF. TURNED INTO A ONE WOMAN FIT OF LAUGHTER. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I WAS LAUGHING ABOUT. MAYBE IT WAS THE FACT THAT THE MAILMAN FOUND A "DIRTY" PAIR OF UNDIES IN ONE OF THE MEN'S MAILBOXES AND WANTED THEM REMOVED AS HE COULDN'T FIT THE LETTERS IN THERE. GEE.....I CAN HARDLY WAIT TILL I MAKE MY REPORT TO THE OFFICE TOMORROW!
MORE HARRY POTTER TODAY ON TV AND IT STARTS SOON SO I BETTER GET A MOVE ON. QUICK SHOWER AND SOME BREKKIE.
HAVE A GREAT DAY
