Happy Friday ladies!!
I went for my massage yesterday, and scheduled another one in two weeks. Believe me when I say that this is NOT pampering! The masseuse is really good about finding all the knots/tension where the muscles/tendons/ligaments attach to the bones, and then she presses on them so hard I literally cry out some times. It's called deep tissue, trigger point therapy. And while it's painful at the time, it does feel so much better when it's over, and I believe it is helping. So I'm looking at it as rehab rather than pampering. After the massage, DH and I went and got the boat out of storage, though I'm not sure we'll get out on the water this weekend.
Tomorrow, we're going to a DIY class on how to build a retaining wall (since we're going to be building concrete block planters around a few of our trees). This is probably something that can be done without much instruction, but DH and I saw the free class being offered and figured a little instruction might not be a bad thing (not bad for a guy that refuses to ask for directions, huh?).

After the DIY class, we're going to a couple really nice nurseries. Don't worry ladies, there's not much moving, lifting or placing of concrete blocks in my foreseeable future. And I'll be bringing my walker/seat to get around. I would like to do some planting this weekend of veggies and annuals this weekend, but I'll have to check the weather forecast to see if we have any more freezing nights coming up. Again, I'll only do as much as my back allows.
We're taking DMIL out to breakfast tomorrow and then having a cookout on Sunday.
It's such a beautiful sunny day, with highs in the low to mid 60s! I may spend my lunch hour sitting outside and reading a book.
As for Mischief, DH had a great talk with our regular vet about the tests that the cardiologist did. Our vet said that Mischief's condition is so rare, and yet so treatable...that there's no reason to think that her life expectancy will be shortened. She gave me and DH a nice compliment by saying that since she has us...she will likely live a long, healthy, happy life. Awwww, so sweet of her to say. I can already see her rear leg strength increasing little by little, which is a good sign. You'll never guess the med they have my spayed female dog on though...Viagra...yes, the little blue pill. Apparently it was originally developed to treat pulmonary hypertension (which is what Mischief has), and it was discovered that it had an "interesting" side effect in men. I'm just glad we're not giving it to our boy dogs!

Anyway, because Mischief is so little, she gets just a small dose. The pharmacy put it in liquid form, added an apparently yummy chicken flavoring, and we give it to her on a very small piece of bread. She loves it.
We're having a freezer delivered this afternoon, and we may go to Costco this weekend. I'm hoping to get to the pool for some water jogging after work and after the delivery guys leave.

Ceejay - Good for you for treating yourself and bringing someone in to clean your house! Now you've got more time to enjoy yourself on the weekend. I hope your sinus headache has gone away by now. Be careful on the roads this weekend and don't drive on flooded streets!!
Mel - I'm glad you were able to stock up at TJ's. I applaud you for being committed to exercising even when you're tired. With all the hours you're working, make sure you have plenty of time for rest and relaxation. DMIL reads both paperbacks and hardcovers.
Shad - Sorry you had such a rough work at home day. I've had those before where I can't access shared drives. I'm not sure how your remote connection works. I usually can fix it by rebooting my computer and reconnecting to my work's network. But I totally understand your frustration with the no-help desk. It's like, duh, I'm having trouble connecting REMOTELY, of course I won't have trouble if I bring the computer to you.

I hope you had a nice time enjoying the sun, reading and shopping.
Happy - I hope you stay high and dry this weekend and next week.
Annie - Thank you so much for the books! My DMIL had finished the first batch, and dove right into this batch!! And I enjoyed reading the magazines! So very nice of you!! That was so sweet of Samantha! I love Yankee candles, and I really like the floral crackle design! So pretty, just like Samantha and her momma.

Good for you for getting the grass cut. Either DH or I should probably do that this week. Miss Annie, I hope you can treat yourself to a pampering massage soon. Notice I said "pampering", not the painful, rehab kind I get. Maybe do that with the $$ from the extra shifts you're pulling at CVS. I hope you have a wonderful time at Bob Seger and enjoy some "Night Moves" and "Hollywood Nights"!
Laura - Good for you on all the exercising. I hope the pain in your arse gets better. I'm glad to hear the cleaners did a good job and so inexpensive! I tried one of those upside down tomato things last summer and it had great sun and water, and the darn thing only grew a few inches and never bore any tomatoes...not even green ones. I hope your bf's mother has better luck if she decides to get one.
Well, back to work for this chick.
And as Annie said, "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL whether it be to kidlets and/or critters...." Wishing us all a wonderful weekend!!
Love and hugs to all,
