Smile one more day on the board.....

It's another day. I am better with the McKenna thing. I am starting to like the feeling of allowing myself anything at all I want to eat, even junk food or bars of unmentionables ON CONDITION that I am hungry. And since I am naturally paying attention for the first time perhaps to just when that hungry feeling comes along, I can see that it rarely does. And when it does, I am happy because then it's Christmas and I can eat what I want, but not much...because the hungry feeling goes away very quickly. Even an apple and bit of cheese will take it away. Hmm...no wonder at just over 5 feet tall I have tons of fat on me. I have been way, way overeating. Ah, duh...she says, waking up after years of being switched off...
Now, to keep this going and to NOT give in to the emotional wanting to eat and there is LOTS of that. I think it's a part of my depression. I used to just eat or go out and dull my senses with beer. Now, I am realizing what a waste this is. It's like being a Stepford wife or having someone keep me in a mental hospital with forced feedings of mind-dulling drugs. Ah...yeah...same thing, but you're doing it to yourself... Yuck.
Wish me luck, please.

Oct. 2 Clothes check
Didn't do the check last week. Weight is up. 73.2 and there is a gain in the pants check to be sure. I can still get them closed but barely and the legs are not as loose as before (which means they are damn tight...they were never "loose"). This is not good but my mojo has disappeared when it comes to working out. I walk and have the occasional ride but that's nothing to what I had been doing. Ok, I had the fall and really couldn't do anything but now I can be doing a lot more and I just don't feel like it. I am going to attribute some of that to the fact that I am not drinking a huge coffee before hitting the gym. Without the adrenalin kick, I am a limp balloon. I don't even want to listen to music and that always got me going. Oh well, today perhaps I can force myself to get to the gym and run or something. Don't think. Do.

Just a quick post for me today....I guess that's better than none at all yesterday. I've been so crazy busy...and I'm going to try and get my reports done by the end of the day so that I don't have to work tomorrow. Good Times. Good Times.

Luckily, most evenings, I've been getting to the gym and working out for between 45 and 90 minutes to relieve/release the stress, and it's worked marvelously! On Wednesday, I did an hour of cardio followed by 25 minutes of strength training and 15 minutes of abs. It felt great! I didn't get to the gym yesterday, as I had to take my dog to the vet for a follow-up visit. The vet ran blood tests (I'll get the results today), and she was VERY, VERY pleased at how well he's doing.

Anyway, here are Wednesday's results:
Journal and stay within WW points - 1 pauses left - Day 13 completed
Drink 64 ounces of water - 1 pauses left - Day 13 completed
20 minutes (at least) of cardio - 3 pauses left - Day 3 completed
25 crunches - 3 pauses left - Day 3 completed
At least 10000 steps per day - 3 pauses left - Day 3 completed

And Thursday's results:
Journal and stay within WW points - 1 pauses left - Day 14 completed
Drink 64 ounces of water - 1 pauses left - Day 14 completed
20 minutes (at least) of cardio - 1 pause taken - 2 pauses left - Day 3 completed
25 crunches - 1 pause taken - 2 pauses left - Day 3 completed
At least 10000 steps per day - 1 pause taken - 2 pauses left - Day 3 completed

Oh and my weigh in was lousy. I was up 2.2 lbs. But I'm hoping it was either water or muscle weight (with the additional exercise on Wednesday). We'll see. I'll keep plugging along as I know that I can't quit this time or I'll just gain all the weight I have lost right back. A friend of mine on another thread said it's just a "small setback" - which is exactly right. Not a big deal. Nothing to get upset about...so I'm not.

Hugs to all,

Had to take a pause on food because following a full afternoon of grouting in the kitchen and getting everything covered in grout and dust and dirty water, I could not be bothered cooking. We had pizza. Consequently the weight is up. There is so much salt in that stuff. I really need to make my own. That way I can control the end product.

Red - hope you are doing okay. You have a couple of challenges with less than a week to go. YGG. It's happening!

Michelle - you've also got a couple coming up to 2 weeks into the challenge. WTG. Hard about the weight, but that is life. It happens while we are planning other things. Keep going.

Unhappy strength...please....

Uninspired....where is my sunshine? Fags (cigs...for my American friends...oh, wait, what am I? ) are extremely tempting right now...

Cool lightbulbs coming on...

I did it. I made it through SERIOUS temptation last night. I really, really wanted to smoke. BUT, since I had already declared the day clear I did not want to have to go back in and delete or edit the post. Why is it so difficult? Only eight days without a smoke.

Yeah, I know why it's so difficult. I am not acting on my fears, anxieties, worries, all those emotions that normally would send me straight to the convenience store for junk food, to the bar for pints or out on the doorstep for cigs in my usual forms of escapism.

NOT doing any of the above does NOT feel good, don't get me wrong. But, doing them does not help anything in the long run, so there is no escaping them...I am FINALLY realizing (no, I did realize it), rather I am finally coming to accept. Do I continue or do I not? If the latter, then I am forced to try to do something to change the situation or just decide that I will accept my emotions.

Revelation time, baby! God, is this what people with no vices, hangups or neuroses do?!??! How bizarre!

Since I have been having a salt laden weekend, my weight is up AGAIN and I haven't journalled. I have no idea where I am with food. But it stops right here and right now. Have a difficult time coming up tonight when I am going out to dinner with friends celebrating a 21st. So today will be a bad eating day as well. I will however try my best to avoid the dip, chips, and other temptations put in my way.

Now off to shop for the week. Clean fresh veges etc etc etc. Get it Shad??? Got it - Good.

Back on track. Weight is down again today. It has to have been the salt in the pizza on Friday.

Shad - Congrats on the weight loss. Good for you!

Red - I am SO proud of you for calling the day, resisting your temptation to smoke AND having that wonderful revelation! You go, girlfriend.

It was a rough weekend for me...between having to work on Saturday and then getting a migraine that lasted all weekend (and is still around today). I didn't journal all weekend. And thanks to my migraine, I didn't get any exercise to speak of, other than doing a bit of yard work.

It's a brand new week, and I'm starting over....and I'm going to get back to thinking and acting more positively.

Here's where I'm at:

Journal and stay within WW points - 3 pauses left - Day 0 completed
Drink 64 ounces of water - 3 pauses left - Day 0 completed
20 minutes (at least) of cardio - 3 pauses left - Day 0 completed
25 crunches - 1 pause taken - 3 pauses left - Day 0 completed
At least 10000 steps per day - 3 pauses left - Day 0 completed

Cool ugh.....

Ah, a bit of excess again last night.... and invited out tonight and Friday. Going to have to crack down.
I did get to the gym yesterday but only had enough time to do some weights.
Typhoon on the way and it's rain, rain, rain.
Got through yet another round of caffeine reduction. I haven't had coffee in the afternoon for weeks now. Starbucks is for tea now. Kind of weird, but....

SUPPLEMENT Challenge Day 18 completed 0 pauses taken
VEGETABLE JUICE Challenge Day 15 completed 3 pauses taken
FOOD/EXERCISE LOG -- Day 14 completed 1 pause taken
NO ALCOHOL (round 4) -- Day 9 completed 2 pauses taken
NO SMOKING (round 4) -- Day 9 completed 2 pauses taken
CAFFEINE CUT (Round 5) -- Day 21 completed 1 pause taken CHALLENGE COMPLETED!!!!

Shad -- How's the tooth? Glad to hear the weight came down after the salt wore off. How are things looking overall?

diyana -- Are you OK. Things have been rough for you, haven't they. Migraines must be awful. I don't think I ever had one, but if they're anything like a bad hangover, then I can definitely relate. Good for you for staying in the game. We get so many people who come in and disappear after their first post. Even though they should just keep starting over till it clicks, they give up. I wonder why that is. Well, best of luck. You've had a lot of good days behind you, and that counts for a LOT. Hang in there!

The tooth is gone. Yesterday, I didn't eat much. I tried to be good and didn't even get to the 1300 calories. This morning started off well, and now I have to have soft and mushy stuff so today will also be light. Maybe it will show on the scales tomorrow although I don't think I will be down to last weeks low. Up one week, down the next. The Halloween challenge is looking a bit grim.

Red, congrats on the caffeine cut challenge completion. Well done you .

Michelle - good on ya for starting over. Sometimes you just have to stop, take stock and just get over whatever the problem is.
