Default Worldly Chicks February's fine in 2009

Don't know about you lot, but it is February 2009 from where I stand. Time for a new thread.
What are you aiming for in February? How much weight loss? Will we get Mel back or is she basking in the sunshine from her window? Will Carla ever come back? Will CeeJay get rid of the flu? Will Ruth get out from under the never ending snow?

Many questions for Feb - are there any answers out there?

In the immortal words of Harry Carey (famous Cubs baseball annoucer) Holy

Can we be in a new month ALREADY? Where is the time going?

Thank you Shad for setting up the new thread - it's 33 minutes to February from where I sit - good 'nuff for me to roll along.

I have no answers to your questions though I do hope to hear from the missing.

What am I aiming for in February - 4 pounds of weight loss. I know it sounds pitiful but the weight is stuck like super glue. My goal as the new year rolled in was for 1 pound per week. That's still 52 pounds at the end of the year. Nothing to poo poo in the long run. If I go slow, I can manage to keep it off. 3 pounds or more, I see saw. Last month I got back on the WW bandwagon and incorporated mindful eating. This month I pledge to journal my points and add exercise in this month.

And I did make my January goal

How about everyone else?

Good Sunday morning ladies...

Today me and the baby boy and girl are visiting my momma and dad (grands for the kids) then we are going to visit their babysitter they had from the time they were 6 wks till kindergarden. She and her family (Weslyn religion) sure made a big impact on my children as far as their morals and kindness. Made up for the scum standards their dad had/has.

Patty...hope they find out what is going on with you. Hope things come out ok.

Ceejay...glad the power is back on... I, too, am on Facebook. I love it. I have reconnnected with a friend I went to school with in the 5th grade in Iowa. Look me up...Anne Shrontz Carpenter....

Rennie...don't blame you on the face cloth in public, not a bad idea, I am beginning to think I need to wear one in the office too. My nose has ran steady since about November. Real tired of blowing it and keeping the tissue companies in business, don't hear of them laying anyone off as I independently support them. lol

Happy...I can't imagine raising 8 at once. 1 at a time takes a village, 8 will take the entire country and our tax dollars and support, I am sure. What a nut she is....Hope they don't turn out to be a bunch of yahoos.

Micelle...have fun at the Pet Expo. DD and I went to Pet Supplies Plus to get Hella Bella's dog food yesterday. They had too cute doggies up for adoption/rescue. If Hella wasn't such a twit, I would of gotten another dog yesterday. The super bowl is on WAY too late for me. I will probably only watch the first half. I do like the commercials best tho. Probably watch halftime then go to bed.

Shad...how's it hangin? hehe Mine is always hanging. lol

MEL..hope your peepers are all better now, we miss you on here!

Hidee Ho to all you lovely women!

Have a great Sunday.

Love and Hugs

Morning all,

Just saying hi yah Gotta get dressed and get groceries fast. We have an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. Then come home, plan meals and clean up.

Supposed to be very nice this afternoon. Might get my Vitamin D in sunshine form today instead of a pill.

Then it might snow tonight. Geez

Later chicks... Happy February - the month I always wondered 1) will winter EVER end and 2) will I EVER be warm again. Not to brag but I don't have that problem down here except for maybe 3 days

Mel
So glad to see you back. Do as the doctor says and take care of yourself.

Happy
I'm tempted to get outside and do a little yard work. It's a beautiful day.

Shad
I'm going to take better care of myself this month and knock this stuff that's lingering around inside my body out to the curb. I'm tired of it. My plan of action for weight loss is to follow the guidelines that weight watchers on line set up for me and exercise at least 30 minutes per day. If I lose weight I'm happy if not I'll be happy with the inches if any. That reminds me I need to update those.

Reenie
I saw you on the other thread. So glad you are feeling better.

Patty
Keep us informed.

Checking in and trying hard not to moan about snow and cold. Actually we are above freezing just for today and then back into crud!

My weightloss in January was a pitiful single pound by the end of the month although I blipped up and down a lot and actually lost seven pounds and gained back six. I spent way too much time online, particularly getting sucked into Facebook. I did manage to kill a lot of Spammers which made me feel great. One jerk kept posting in Chinese!

Despite some "digestive issues" - love that term! - I'm feeling pretty perky about life once again. I'm going back to doing pet therapy at the nursing home again after giving it a rest after Harry's death. Disney has been visiting the Clinic with me and Jazz has made a few appearances. (Did I mention that he's adorable?) I've signed on with Bark Busters for some at home one-on-one training and it's already making a difference in both of them....and in me too.

So...tomorrow the Groundhog pops out and we'll find out how much more winter we'll have. Last year my front flower bed was still under snow in April but I'm hoping for an improvement this year. I have my seeds already and am planning to clean up my growing table and lights and get some plants started early - sage, tomatillos and some perennials. I would not have been able to do that the past two years because the damned knee kept me from gong down to the cellar. Hmmm...quite a lot of tidying needed down there.

May February be healthier than January in every way!

Morning all,
Ruth, I never worked out what Groundhog Day was about anyway. Never featured over here. Do we have groundhogs - I suspect not. Does the groundhog dictate when you can have Spring??
Glad to hear that you are going back to the Paws Therapy stuff again. Hope the residents don't think Jazz is a bit of fluff on the floor!!! Have fun with the bark busters.

Happy - I would be happy with 4lbs as well, but I'd like 4kgs. So I will aim for one and hope for the other if I miss the first. Yes winter will end. We are seeing the sun rising later and moving towards due East now. You will start seeing it shortly I have now doubt. Spring is closing fast. Well in our case it is Autumn

Mel - good to see you back. But do not over do it. Okay.

Ceejay - good goals. It would be nice to see all the chicks well again this month. You've had a hard time over there this winter. However the normal spring thaw may pose you lot some more problems - so don't let up on the home vigilance yet.

Hi to Annie as well - she posted on the old thread. I didn't put in the links - silly me, rushing it again.

So you lot have Superbowl action today, and we have heatwaves and fires in the south of the country, cyclone Ellie in the north causing rain, flooding, wind havoc in the tropics.
I think I will stay right where I am. We are not getting the heat, but we do have the humidity, we are not getting the rain at the moment, we are not getting fires either. Mother Nature sure is going about her business with a large broom over here.
Today I have a fair amount to get through so I guess I should get on with it. I will be back later in the day.

Good morning ladies,

Today's weigh in saw a number I haven't seen since December of 2007 (which is where my WW weight tracking log started). So for little things. Just have to be careful not to get too cocky. This was also after pizza yesterday (thin crust cheese and veggie - no meat) and a small serving of Super Bowl nachos. I did not watch the game because I don't much care about football. I did pick up some books for DH and got one for myself. Confessions of A Shopaholic. Geez - I see my former self in that book. It's scary.

Went to the eye doctor. DH has cataracts. One more pronounced than the other. He's been complaining about his glasses for a while now. Doc said after he gets the one removed he will have 20/20 vision and will not need glasses at all. The thing is, the cataracts came from STEROIDS! With his back, he's been on them occasionally. That's pretty scary. He was referred to an opthamologist who will be calling him to set up a consult.

Yesterday was a gorgeous spring day. The birds are all singing their spring songs and the dead gumballs are falling out of the trees clunking along and making it hazardous to walk. Last night I was putting some things away in the garage refrigerator. It was quite late, DH was asleep and it was raining. I kept hearing creepy noises and I was getting quite nervous, like someone was in the yard. I guess it was the sound of the dumb gumballs falling from the trees. I still finished up quick and ran inside and locked the door!

Shad - I saw a small bit on the weather channel about the terrible heat out your way. It's a good thing you got some rain to wet things down a bit. So scary when you have fires and such. Regarding groundhog day - I guess it's just a tradition I remember from childhood -

According to German superstition, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early.

It was just fun to see the groundhog. I don't think any of us ever paid attention as to whether this "prediction" was ever right.

Ruth - I second the healthier February wish. Can completely understand the yo yo scale movement too. Sometimes we have to chuck the scale and just focus on more mindful eating and making better choices. Glad to hear you're back in pet therapy again - good for the residents.

Ceejay - did you get outside? Wasn't it nice? Hard to believe there was an ice storm a few days earlier. What screwy weather

Mel - glad to hear you are feeling better. I guess your experience is a lesson learned not to ignore things we should be taking care of. Pity that Jen won't be able to help you stay in touch. We will just patiently await your return!

Annie - several people have invited me to Facebook and such. That's all I need - more distractions on the computer I have politely declined. Hope you had a good weekend with Tony and the kids.

Did you have a good Super Bowl viewing Michelle?

Time for me to go get busy. Have a good one ladies

Hello and Happy Fabulous February of Feeling Fine Ladies..........

This weekend just about wore me out. Cooked more this weekend than I did all month of January. The DS always wants momma's home cooking when he is home. Stayed up playing cards and such till the wee hours of the morning both Friday and Saturday night. Visited all day with mom, then the babysitter, I was exhausted last night when the kids left. Only watched the superbowl till halftime, wanted to see Bruce Springstein. Then passed out and went to sleep.

Happy, congrats on the weight! Sorry to hear about DHs cateracts. Both of my parents and grandparents with through that. All came out fine!

Sheesh Shad...you are having all kinds of weather down there. Yikes! We are just dealing with the cold, snow and ice. Stay safe.

MEL...Good to see you back. Hope you get the rest of you healthy.

Michelle....I found us!!

Hello to everyone,

Love and hugs

just popping in to say hello. I'm behind 6 day's and it's the end of the month reports. Guess that's what I get for being sick one day. It usually isn't this bad but due to the power outages they've ran different wells which makes it a bit more complicated for soil conservation.

Happy
no i didn't get outside. The air was to cold for my lungs. I still have some congestion. It's a whole lot better.

Anne
I will invite you as my friend in Facebook. You do get sucked into it at times. This is an easy way for me to keep up with the nephews and nieces.

A great Groundhog Day to everyone -

The cute little Punxsutawney Phil says there's going to be 6 more weeks of winter. Well, I'd be thrilled if there were only 6 more weeks of winter...usually winter lasts here until at least early to mid-April. So hopefully Phil is correct. I had a great weekend. DH and I went to the pet expo on Saturday. I got to pet and hold lots of adorable dogs, kitties, lizards and snakes. And we watched some fun doggie races and agility demonstrations. On Sunday, I got most of the Christmas stuff put away until my back gave out. My back didn't like all the walking at the expo, and it really didn't like packing Christmas stuff away. So I spent Sunday afternoon relaxing. I may choose to go to PT for my back. I'll try that before I request another steroid shot. I've got to get my back better before spring - lots of fishing, walking, hiking and biking to do! We really enjoyed watching the Super Bowl! What an exciting and close game! And Bruce Springsteen gave an outstanding performance at halftime.

Happy - Congrats on the excellent weigh in!! Wooo hoooo!! I'm going to join you in aiming for 4 lbs of weight loss for this month of February and exercising for 30 minutes at least 3 days per week (preferably 4 or 5 days per week). I guess that means I'd better get on the scale and see what my starting weight is. I am wondering if winter will ever end and if I'll ever be warm again. But it's supposed to get up to maybe 40 by the end of the week! Woooo Hoooo!! So sorry to hear that DH has cataracts, but I'm glad that it can be easily treated with surgery. That's a good reminder to me that with all the steroids I've taken (especially lately), I should probably get my eyes examined this year.

Annie - Glad you had a nice time with your kids. How nice that you took them to visit your parents and their former babysitter. I, too, am on Facebook (Michelle Zancanaro - and I sent you a Friend Request). I've connected with lots of old friends and former co-workers. I got a great laugh at your "mine is always hanging" comment....mine are always hanging too.

Patty - I hope everything comes out okay and that they figure out what's going on.

Mel - Glad you're back. Definitely listen to the doctor so you can get better. Your health is more important than anything.

Rennie - I'm glad you're feeling better. You're very smart to wear a cloth over your face to help filter out the germs.

Ruth - Glad to hear you're doing well (other than digestive issues) and that you're getting back into pet therapy! Good for you for getting an early start on gardening. I've still got to purchase my seeds and then get them planted in starter peat pots. Isn't it nice to think about gardening...makes one feel warmer and almost forget that there's still snow on the ground.

Shad - I'm glad to hear that you are spared the heat, flooding and fires. Good for you on your goal to lose 4kg!

Ceejay - It's rough when you've been off work and have to come back and play catch up. Hang in there. I'm on Facebook too. Send me a friend request (Michelle Zancanaro) if you want to.

Well, I'd better get back to it!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday.

Love and hugs,

Yeah Michelle....a LOT of mine is ALWAYS hanging.....iI am in need of a b*tt, b**b, belly, and arm job!@!! Not that they are very bad, just enough to be noticeable. I am not vain enough to go into debt for it, however if I should hit the lottery or get a HUGE inheritance (unlikely), I will have it done! Basically, what you see is what you get!
