The baby kitties are here!!!
Last week at the Humane Society the girl we always check in with said it's about the time when the abandoned kittens should be arriving. Sure enough when we walked in today, a lady was sitting on the floor with 5 kittens in a carrier. She found them roaming by the bushes in her neighbor's yard - no sign of momma cat. They were all cute little fuzz balls but one in particular was an adorable calico. The lady who brought them in said if she could, she would have kept the calico. They were mewing their little mews and I picked one up, just a hank of fur and tiny little bones. Awwwwwww. Now I can accept that I can't talk all the big kitties home but I can love them for a few hours each week but my heart just goes to mush with baby kittens. We walked past the front desk and I went into the back room and there were 2 more pens of kittens. That made 11 kittens in one week. Honestly, if we were not going on vacation shortly, I would have been tempted to at least foster some of them. The Humane Society will not allow them to be adopted out until they are old enough to get their shots and be spayed/neutered. They were soooooo adorable. There were some new younger cats too. One tabby was adorable, she was roaming free in the room and I cuddled her for a while. I was then paying attention to the other cats and she came along and scuddled up my leg

Little needle claws. Everyone was really looking for attention today. DH was not feeling well and was kind of begging off going but he was a trouper and went with me. Good thing because he helped me with some of the bigger cats who were just looking for a little loving. He was also Mr. Groomer and had quite a sizable hair ball when finished.
Otherwise, the day kind of got away from us as usual. I have little tasks to do each night after work and I should be ok. Was following suit with some of you ladies and we hauled some boxes out of the closets when we had the new floor put in. Found 5 pairs of winter boots including the missing mate to one I had upstairs. I tossed 2 pairs that the salt had eaten away the leather. Kept one pair of short and one pair to the knee just for travels back north. I also have about 6 winter coats in various sizes and considering I only wear a winter coat when we go to Chicago for Chirstmas (ok you people, no hurling

at me

) - I should get rid of most of them. No place down here to really give them away and I had to bog down my mom's place - heaven knows she has enough jun.. treasures

and she won't get rid of something she thinks still has good use to it. But we were able to empty 3 boxes so we made good progress on the dejunking.
I didn't get to the grocery store so we warmed up some leftovers. I rewarmed 2 pieces of fish and had about 2 spoons of cole slaw. That was a mistake. It keeps talking back to me (the opposite of tooting Annie - can't say which is worse

) I just feel really ugh at the moment. I'm going to find something to whip up for DH and I'm going to eat up the Lean Cuisine dinners in the freezer this week. Have to start clearing out some room for when Mom comes so she has a place for her food too.
And after a long ramble, that's it for me.
Yikes Ceejay - you be careful there. Doesn't sound at all like fun at work lately. You have a scary job
Annie - thanks for mentioning about the dairy - come to think of it, the calcium pill plus the days I'm having an afternoon yogurt could be conspiring on me in the afternoon. So... are you going to look up the first love???? Sometimes it's better when we close the book and leave it closed but the curiosity is always there. At least you look like a hot babe now -
Rennie - have you ever considered taking up sewing or alterations? At least then you could take in the pants and blouses and get more wear out of them. Sometimes too it's better to have knit tops - they cover about 3 sizes and you can get more wear out of them. Though I do not like todays tight and layered styles. Ok if you are 18 with a washboard tummy but not ok if you've seen a few rolls in your life

And I do shop with a list - always. Like you I make my menus up before I go shopping. It's just that sometimes I'll buy 2 apples and when it comes time to eat them, I'm not in the mood for apples or oranges or such. There is also the problem Shad speaks of where you need something like leeks for a recipe and you can't buy just one - or you're not sure just how many you'll need for a new recipe you've never made before.
Mel - enjoy the trip to the mall but don't be coming home with anything you'll be tossing back out or giving away in 2 months.

Just get out and enjoy the day.
Michelle - think I should tell DH that we should both quit our jobs to see if the mental lapses are just due to work stress?

I can see it now, I have to go on disability because the stress of the work environment is causing me to lose my mind.

I would never be that lucky! So you are working with a trainer at the gym now - that's great!
Shad - no way could I sleep in a red bedroom. I would have to borrow Elvis' round bed with the mirrors and the shag (oops another bad word) bedspread.

We have pulled most of our money to safer money market funds with the stock market so tumbly tho DH is starting to dabble again. He has done better to protect our investments than any financial planner has. I am glad he has taken that job because I sure am not interested at all in it. I loved your kitten photos. I have one of those makeup brushes. They call it a kabooki brush tho I have no white powder in which to paint my face! That's too funny about them cancelling the boat race because they had too much water
Ok, past bedtime for this chick. This will suffice for my post tomorrow. Have a good day and happy shopping Mel!
