Hi all,
checking in from sister's house with the very slow internet connection. half way up to my mom's we hit a deer. Just jumped out from the side of the road and came out of no where at first light. Smashed up the car good. Luckily we were not hurt, unlike the deer who scampered off after what is no doubt a mortal wound. We were lucky enough to barely get to the next town before the car overheaded. Almost got stuck there all weekend because they didn't have rental cars. Finally found one and made it to Chicago. The car won't be repaired when we come back through so we'll take the rental all the way home and then DH is going to have to drive 250 miles back to get our car. Always something but it could have been much worse.
Looks like everyone is ready to go to dinner here so I have to get off the computer. Will try to get on later if I can...
Happy...so sorry about your car...I hit a deer once, it is so scarey. I am so glad you all are ok. No injuries. It could have been a lot worse.
Shad...glad to hear you are feeling better, cause I just hate funerals.
MEL....sounds like you have a bit of water retention. Get some rest and feel better.
Rennie..Diyana...hidee ho...
I love my kids dearly....however, I was ready to kick the entire lot out. DD and DS found everything I did or said wrong and griped at me. DSs friend that lives with us, just added to the work, the DDs friend and her 2 year old were there all weekend. I wanted to run away from home. Are mom's allowed to do that. Truthfully, I couldn't wait to come to work today. That is bad.
DH, MIL and I had a great time at the Zoo on Saturday. It was a lovely day, sunny and warm but not hot. On Sunday, it was chillier, and I had a migraine and backache, so we had a relaxing day. As for using animal cruelty for gang initiation or religious sacrifice or any reason...I just wish that the a***oles who do that do animals would get the same treatment as punishment. It's so sad that you hear about these awful cases and even if they do catch the b**tards, they only get a few years in prison.
Happy - How awful that the deer jumped out in front of you! Sorry about your car. I'm glad you and DH are not hurt. And if the deer was able to scamper off, maybe it will heal from its wounds. As for my mechanic (DH), yup, he's a good guy and very trustworthy. He fixes my car and my computer. I think I'll keep him! You were paying only $2.86 a gallon for gas? Sheesh! I can't bike to work either. It takes me 30 minutes to drive to work with no traffic...it would take a couple hours at least to bike there.
Rennie - That's very generous of you and your kids to give your vacation money to the soup kitchen. Good for you. After finding out I have diabetes, we donated A LOT of food that is too high in carbs for me to the food pantries - bags and bags of food. And we've donated a bunch of clothes too to shelters too. We don't have any vacation plans either. We'll just be spending weekends fishing and staying home in the backyard. I'm glad to hear that the vet is able to do something for the dog to make her more comfortable so her back can heal. It's so nice that your children are so good to the older folks in your community.
Mel - I haven't checked my 100 Days book yet to figure out where I'm at, but I'll do that tonight. DH and I have cut back A LOT on frivilous spending and paying down our bills. We still haven't received the stimulus check yet, but that's immediately going to pay down debt. I hope you have a great time at the mall today.
Shad - I'm glad you're starting to feel better. As for my onederland, I'm still there. And the saying is correct about nothing tasting as good as being thinner feels....that being said, I am allowing myself the occasional treat (read: ice cream), and it doesn't seem to be affecting my blood sugar or my weight negatively. My nutritioinist wants me to become more flexible with my eating - and not forbid certain foods.
Annie - I hope your day goes better than your weekend.
Well, I've got a busy day ahead, so I'd better sign off.
OMG HAPPY! WE WERE SO SHOCKED TO READ YOUR POST!! THANK GOD THE TWO OF YOU ARE ALRIGHT JEN WAS JUST GOING OUT TO DINNER AS I WAS READING. GEEZ YOU NEVER KNOW. SORRY TOO THAT DH WILL HAVE TO GO BACK WHEN THE CAR IS READY. LONG TRIP. KEEP US POSTED.
ANNIE... FOR YOU AS WELL. SOMETIMES I LIKE TO RUN AWAY TOO!! WHERE SHALL WE GO?????
MICHELLE~HOPE YOU FEEL MUCH BETTER TODAY! GLAD THE ZOO WAS FUN. MY CHECK IS NOT HERE EITHER BUT I AM DOING THE SAME....RIGHT IN THE BANK IT GOES AND THEN RIGHT OUT WITH A CHECK ON THE BILLS!
I LOOKED AT MY 24TH DAY AND THEN GAVE IT SOME THOUGHT AT THE MALL. FINISHED MY WORKBOOK AT HOME. SO I AM ON THE ROAD AGAIN TO PERFECTION
I HAD A GOOD DAY BUT FOUND OUT ONE OF THE GIFT CARDS WAS MUCH LOWER DUE TO CHARGES TAKEN OFF AT THE REGISTER FOR NOT USING IT SOONER
BUT I GOT 2 PANTS, 6 TOPS, 1 PJ SET, AND 9 MYSTERY BOOKS WITH DARKER PRINT FOR ME AND 2 PANTS, 2 TOPS AND A SHORT ROBE FOR JEN. SO IT WAS A GREAT FIND FOR SDALES TODAY AND SAVED OVER 30 DOLLARS WITH COUPONS TOO.
VERY TIRED AND GOING TO SHOWER AND WATCH TV. JEN AND RICHIE WENT FOR DINNER AND A NIGHT OUT BY THEMSELVES! TOMORROW IS FOOD SHOPPING. I NEED VEGGIES.
HAVE A GREAT NIGHT
Morning all,
And it is not a good morning. I'm back to feeling all stuffed up and coughing like it was my last. Both DS2 and I coughed the night away. Must have sounded like the Anvil chorus or something. Finally dropped off for a good sleep but feel a bit death like today. Certainly don't feel like work, but it is going to have to be done. Oh woe is me.
Annie, when I see the work to be done here, I certainly feel like running away. Sounds like a good idea. A couple of days on the beach sounds nice. However, seems like I am going to Melbourne for a week, June 2nd. I'd better get rid of the flu blues by then because it will be a lot colder down there than here.
Michelle - you've got to have some treats in life. Don't care what anyone else says. If I live to be a hundred and never taste ice cream again what is the point in living? Sure there are other things in life, but isn't it nice just to go out and get an ice cream and enjoy it with friends. Such simple pleasures.
Mel - sounds like you had a good time shopping. Nice to be able to find bargains in the stuff you need and to find something that fits in the sale. I never seem to be able to, all the stuff in the sale is either size 4 -8 or size 22 ++ Never anything in the 'normal sizes' Just goes to show that the great majority of us are NOT emaciated waifs and are NORMAL people. So why can't the fashionistas take the hint? Beats me.
Gotta go. Another dose of Panadol and a lie down coming on. Lordy I hate the COMMON cold!!!
Ah Dang nabbit Shad...Feel better darlin'. I love that Musinex D-over the counter stuff for chest colds, it works wonders.
MEL...Wow what a shopping spree, you got lots of stuff..
Diyana..Glad you had a great time at the zoo. We have a pretty nice zoo, we had our company picnic there a couple of years ago.
WELL...........I call old BF last night. Finally worked up the courage. It went great. We talked for 1 1/2 hours. He is not shy anymore, we laughed A LOT. Caught up on the last 27 years. My goodness I didn't realize it had been almost 30 years since we spoke. AND...he wants to get together soon, as "he wants to see me, girl". He sounds quite nice, as I remember him. His wife actually died 5 years ago, said he went through about 2 years of a "dark" time after that, but is mostly back to being human now. I woke up at 3 this morning and could not sleep for thinking about the conversation. I feel like a teenager. I am such a dork. hahahaha
ANNIE....I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! I HAVE SOMEONE I CAN LIVE VICARIOUSLY THRU ;rofl: GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU BOTH FIND HAPPINESS EVEN IF IT HAS TO BE FRIENDS.
I AM JUST GLAD YOU DID SOMETHING NICE FOR YOURSELF!!
SHAD~ SO SORRY MY SOUTHERN FRIEND TO HEAR YOU AND DS2 ARE STILL FEELING SO BADLY. THIS IS ONE BUTT KICKING COLD YOU BOTH HAVE HUGS FOR BOTH OF YOU! YOU WILL BOTH BE FEELING BETTER SOON. REST AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! I WAS LUCKY TO FINE ONE EACH OF THE 2X SIZES I LIKE. MAKES DRESSING SO MUCH EASIER. USUALLY I CAN ONLY FIND 1X. THE OFFICE NEVER LIKES MY SIZES....THEY NLOOK TOO BAGGY ON ME BUT THEN THEY'RE NOT WIULLING TO COME UP HERE AND DRESS AND UNDRESS ME!
BACK CEEJAY!!! CONGRATS ON THE NEW NEICE-IN-LAW!! HOPE THEY WILL BOTH BE VERY HAPPY! WISHJ WE WERE ALL IN CANCUN!! I COULD USE SOME SUN AND WARMER WEATHER!!
I AM FREEZING AND ALL STUFFED UP AND EYES ARE SORE FROM "SPRING" AND ALSO THE MALL. LOTS OF PERFUMES THERE I BIT A PILL IN HALF AND TOOK THE 1/2 A ZYRTEC BEFORE I LEFT YESTERDAY....GUESS IT'S NOT ENOUGH. BUT THEN I WANTED TO SHOP THERE AND NOT FALL ASLEEP ON THE REGISTER LINES!!
SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T GET A BREAK WELL I WON'T GO THERE....CAN'T AFFORD TO START CRYING.
JEN WILL BE HOME ALL WEEK AND SHE IS COMING DOWN SOON. HER "DD" IS NOT DUE TILL 6/8 (THE BOY FOLLOWS LATER) AND THE ROOMS ARE READY SO SHE CAME BACK HERE TO CLEAN HER PLACE MORE FOR THE GREAT SUMMER APARTMENT ABANDONMENT DON'T WANT THE ANTS MOVING IN AND TAKING OVER.
I FEEL LIKE SLEEPING SO I MIGHT HAVE TO KICK HER OUT IN A SHORT TIME. POOR KID...HAS A MEAN MOM!
HAPPY TUESDAY
Yesterday was a super stressful day at work, I had to work late and then help DH work on our boat when I got home, so no gym. And I really could've used some endorphins. This morning was stressful too, so I wrangled a co-worker and we went for a brisk walk at lunch. Just what I needed. A little sweat and lots of endorphins. Ahhh. All better now. And I'm going to the gym tonight for cardio and weights! Yay! Can't wait for more endorphins!
Mel - sounds like you got some nice bargains while you were shopping! Good for you! I hope you feel better soon. I hate people that overuse perfume in public places....It really makes my asthmatic lungs just shut down. Here's a for you for whatever has you on the brink of crying.
Shad - I sure hope you (and your son) feel better soon. Rest and take care of yourself. And you are so right about the simple pleasures. We can't live without the occasional treat - otherwise, life becomes very sad. And I'm doing really good at learning moderation. Yay!
Annie - Mucinex D is WONDERFUL for a chest cold. I'm so glad you called your old BF and what a nice long phone call!! That's great that he wants to see you soon. Hopefully you two can arrange a meeting.
Morning all,
Bright and energetic bunche we have here today. Well 'cept for Mel anyway.
Ceejay - glad to hear the wedding went well and you have had a great time. Congrats to the Nephew and new wife. Hope they enjoy Cancun (however it is spelt) and that they come back glowing with health and happiness.
Annie - well done on calling the 1st love. Sounds like you had a good talk and I hope when you do meet up, it will be like the years dropped away. Thanks for the tip on the meds - I'm going out to the shops today and I will look for it there.
Michelle - Haven't been on exercise since about a week ago. Just don't feel up to it yet. Maybe the Balance class on Saturday will be the first. It's a gentle enough class and I can always leave if I feel unwell. I could do with a few endorphins as well.
Mel - The DS2 seems to be about over his cold. I've just got to be patient and get over mine now. But oh lordy this cough will probably see me off. It's like a vicious circle, nose runs so I blow it. This blocks my ears. Getting the ears to unblock sets off the cough and when I cough the headache begins all over again. Never felt anything like this before. If it is no better in the next couple of days I'm off to see a doc. Mine is somewhere in Darwin fishing. How dare he?
Nothing wrong with clothes that are pretty but generous in size, particularly if you are dealing with the problems of the chair and sitting. No point in looking like a partially inflated balloon in a lycra t-shirt. It's hot and uncomfortable.
So Jen is doing the spring clean of the apartment huh? I've got to find the energy to do mine shortly otherwise it will be a mammoth job. I've only just managed to get the laundry under control. You'd never realise there are only two in this house plus cat if you looked at the laundry that springs from nowhere.
Yesterday, I managed to finish changing and checking the major basic training document. Today it's time to get started on the Supply stuff. That shouldn't be too hard either. Then it will be the rotten stuff. I will be off to Melbourne in June for a week or so to catch up with the others. That will be fun since parts of Victoria have been having record snow falls this last week. I will have to look out the winteriest clothing I can find. Maybe I will just wear a strategically wrapped doona.
Anyway, I had better go and get on with the day. Theres things to do before I start work. See ya
SHAD~ TAKE A LOT OF DOONAS WITH YOU!! YOU MIGHT JUST NEED THEM! I AM PUTTING MINE TO GOOD USE HERE AS IT'S STILL IN THE LOW 40'S AT NIGHT AND WINDY! DO THEY CELL MUCINEX OVER THERE? IT'S A GREAT MUCUS MOVER AND REALLY CLEARS OUT THE SINUS CAVITIES. MUCINEX-D IS STRONGER BUT I CANNOT TAKE IT. I THINK IT'S ANNIE THAT USES THAT AND MENTIONED IT TO YOU THE OTHER DAY. ANYWAY...FEEL BETTER YOU'LL BE NEEDING ALL YOUR SENSES ABOUT YOU IN MELBOURNE...ESPECIALLY IF YOU DECIDE TO GO SKIING!!
MICHELLE~ I WAS STUPID AND HUNG OUT IN THE HIGH END DEPARTMENT STORES LIKE LORD & TAYLOR AND NIEMAN MARCUS WHERE PERFUME COUNTERS ABOUND!!
I WAS LOOKING AT ALL THE GIRLY STUFF AND KNEW BETTER THAN TO BREATHE IN ALL THAT CRAP.
SEND SOME ENDORPHINS MY WAY! SORRY THE WEEK IS BEING A BIT STRESSFUL AND HOPE YOU GET TO THE GYM. TOO BAD THEY DON'T HAVE ENDORPHIN CAFES WHERE YOU CAN GO AND INHALE A FEW TO KEEP US ALL GOING AND HAPPY!
I GOT MY STIMULUS CHECK AND IT'S GOING RIGHT IN AND OUT OF THE BANK BEFORE I CAN THINK OF "JUNK" TO BUY WITH IT....OR GET TO GIVING PARTS OF IT AWAY.
SOMETIMES MY HEART GETS CARRIED AWAY AND SHUTS MY BRAIN OFF I ALREADY HAVE THE CHECK WRITTEN OUT FOR THE BILL. JUST WAITING FOR IT TO COME IN!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY (<---DOESN'T THAT WORD LOOK WRONG? LOL)
Good Morning Ladies...It is almost Friday...I say that every day....lol
Shad...stay warm, I find fleece the warmest of all.
MEL...isn't it sad that most people have to use their stimulus checks to pay bills? It stinks.
Diyana...Oh Goddess of Exercise..get those endorphins flowing. We got two 20 minute walks in yesterday at work. I needed it to clear my head and get away from my desk.
DS got the job at Catapiller. His orientation is today and will find out his schedule too. We had to go get steel toed boots last night, that set me for 45 bucks. Yikes...come on lottery, momma needs a new pair of shoes. lol.
