  • I'm better
I'm sooooooooooo much better. Those little 3 hour mini vacations can be so good. For all of you who know I was in one of those "every little thing" bothers me. Don't we just love perimenopause????? Anyway. Just want you all to know I'm not climbing the walls now. One more week to go to get my bearings on this thing. Can't wait

sef-Did you know how wise you are? Girl when those life lessons were handed out---you were paying attention!!!! I've been thinking at the beach it would fun to play around with photos. I'll think it over. Maybe I might take a class...... P.S. at least those briefs don't have depends in them! I had to wear them when I first started running bec of the 3 boys reeking havoc in my pelvis. Leak city. Then-amazingly enough-it stopped. It's like my body automatically did those kegals (sorry if mispld) for me. Now I rarely leak. so Depends free. BTW-I thought NH was New Hampshire.

Catlover-I'm thinking smoothies with the blueberries.

    BOB
  • Evening All

Just got home from Marshalls and the grocery store with Mom and Lauren and wanted to get in a post before Eli is home, which he's already late, and I'm starving!

AMSER, glad I got to talk to you!!! Looking forward to getting to meet you on Sunday. I forgot to ask you, is there ANYTHING you can't get up your way you'd like me to bring you-like agave nectar, do you have that in Savannah?? Let me know if there's anything you may need that I can find down here-most of the stuff I get up in Broward (next county up), but we have some stuff down here. Would you believe, I found NOTHING at Marshalls that I liked on me! Guess I saved myself some bucks!

FROG, thanks, I don't feel so alone any more

FILLISE, sorry to see you fell off the wagon. Curious to know why you fell off, it you don't mind me asking. Is it due to the pending surgery? The 1yr anniversary? 3lbs isn't the end of the earth, and I'm sure it will slide right back off-blame it on hormones, I won't argue! How long are you going to have to stay off your feet after the surgery? Glad to hear your Mom is going to be there to help.

AR, kudos to you for passing up that cake. Trust me, after you ate it, you would of hated that you did. Should we change your name to BO now that you got the extensions in?? I don't know how you could sit for 7 hours to do that!! How long will they stay in??? Have a great trip!!!

FLY, I would love to HAVE an attic-I bet I'd have fun in yours! We don't have basements or attics down here-we have to reply on garages and sheds for our junk-or in my case, a 4th bedroom!!!! Dookie is a nice way of saying I'm stopped up and the fiber just ain't working Glad you like my girdle story-as true a story as it is!

SEF, congrats on the trip-I too hope it's legit and not a scam-make sure to check out the company before anything else happens. Oh paleese, I am NOT a clean freak-you have me totally and wrongly pegged!!! I hate to clean and my house shows it too. I HAD to clean the 4th bedroom, you couldn't walk in to it without tripping over something! The futon had papers and lots of other stuff strewn all over it. My dining room table-lets just say, if you wanted to see what it was made of, you'd have to look at the base! You would NOT want to match my cleaning skills, no way! Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a clean home, but I am a product of my Mother!!!!

CAT, I have a recipe for a BLUEBERRY BUCKLE I can get to you sometime tomorrow. You can always freeze the others for later use!

    NANCE, is Faris home yet?????????

Gotta run, big boy is home-now the problem is, where to get dinner!!!!!

  • Just a quick post before heading off to wind down for the evening. I actually went walking today for the first time since last Wed. when my eye started getting painful. My body let me know that I was definitely out of practice and going to have to work for every step. Tomorrow I'm going to brave the weights at the gym and I'm really afraid of what my muscles will be yelling at me then.

I'm sitting here stark raving hungry because I have to have my fasting blood tests run again tomorrow morning and so I just had plain yogurt with protein powder for supper at 5:30. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as I'm shopping for my "reunion" dress, a bathing suit <yuck>, getting my hair cut, cutting the lawn and other errands and such. So much for a relaxing Saturday. Maybe Sunday I'll get to just dig through old high school photos preparing my mind for the reunion.

Debbie, you asked about why the Dr. wants to put me on Xenical. I think part of it is that I've been going there since March 8 and that's when I started SB and I had already been working out 3-5 days per week and dieting when I went. I've been doing SB faithfully since then and even upped my intensity on my work-outs and tried every little bit of advice that anyone has given me to try and get this weight off. My cholesterol went up more than 30 points from March to May and my blood pressure had steadily risen until this last month and the weight has not been coming off. Needless to say it's very frustrating.

I try to be patient and I don't expect to lose more than a pound a week - I don't even mind losing every other week, but 3 pounds in 4 months is very depressing. I try to not whine or get too upset about it, but it is very upsetting. Especially since I've been on one diet or another for 7 years now and only hovered between 220 and 200. If I was cheating, not exercising, eating too much or eating too little I wouldn't be upset - I'd know why I'm not losing - but doing everything I know to do and doing it as well as I can do it and not seeing any results wearies me. I sometimes feel like just giving up eating all together so I don't have to track it, figure the glycemic index, fit it into my calories for the day, fit it into my pie chart, etc. (Like that's going to happen! NOT!) It is enough to make a girl cry.

My numbers across the board got worse the first 2 - 3 months I was on SB it's only this last month that my blood pressure has come back down. I'm not blaming it on SB, please don't think that - I just don't get why this is happening. You've seen my diet - every time I post what I eat on here everyone who comments says that it looks good. I really hardly ever cheat.

I think this frustration and my cholesterol is why she recommended Xenical - since it keeps your body from absorbing fat and the side effects of eating too much fat would result in, well, lets just call them undesirable "Spewer" stories. She's thinking that it would help with my cholesterol numbers, help me see if I really am eating as little fat as I think I am and help me at least see some weight come off. It wouldn't be a long term thing at all - I only got 2 months supply and I go back then to reevaluate whether it's something I want/need to continue doing.

Vince thinks it's worth a try. He sees me work my butt off and really is at a loss for words to help make me feel better. He knows how hard I try and how faithful I am to do everything I'm supposed to do. If he thought I needed to change or do something different or better to see the results he would totally not support it. He would tell me I couldn't take them that I needed to do "xxxx" to see the weight come off and my numbers come down on my blood and all that I didn't need to take some pills for something I should be fixing naturally.

Well, enough of the pity party. Sorry for such a long post, but I couldn't figure out what to leave out.

  • Hey ALL

Quickie, just got home, went out for dinner to a place called the STARLITE DINER-first time, wasn't all that bad, had a blackened tuna salad-not much else to chose from on the menu for me other than that-so won't be frequenting that place much.

BOB, we were posting at the same time-great minds do think alike Going garaging tomorrow morning. Eli is off Sunday and right now my only plans are to hopefully meet up with AMSER!!!! LMK about the coffee syrup, big boy made some, but too loose, I tried in in a shake, didn't like it, so stuck it in the freezer-liked it much better in the morning!!!

SOL, thanks for the explanation about the Xenical. I'm just curious, if you are keeping your fats down, and this doesn't let you absorb much fat, will that be bad for you-as we do need a certain amount of fat. Like I said, you do what you have to do, but do be careful with taking that stuff, please

KAREN, thanks for all those great links-will definitely check them out over the weekend!!!

Nite Nite Everyone!!! Have a great weekend!

  • I AM FEELING LUCKY!!!!!!
Besides the excitement of leaving for trip Sunday, I had the priviledge of getting to talk to OUR VERY OWN SUPER CHICK, DEB!!!!! I actually INTERRUPTED her shopping spree at Marshalls Deb it is looking good at this point. I did read where Eli has Sunday off. So, if plans with him evolve, I will certainly understand. I was trying to do some more figuring time-wise. It may be 10AM when we get there.. for safety sake, I would say somewhere from 10am - 12??? Never know what the traffic situation may be, or how well our "caravan" travels trouble-free Craig did take a test run, and everything ran and was pulled smoothly!!!!!!! How sweet of you to offer bringing me SB staples....... If you happen to have some Agave nectar, I would love some!!! We have 1 HFS in this WHOLE town, and it's in a bad section. I have been trying for months to get my courage up to go. Who knows.. I may end up giving you my mailing address and go into business with you as my supplier!!!!! I might EVEN tip ya.

BOBBBBBB - OHHHH, Bob!!!! I am 38, and I do remember Romper Room. **** I was on it. I definitely remember Capt Kangaroo and Bunny Rabbit w/the 4 eyes I LOVED Tarzan... not sure who you mean by "original" Tarzan, unless you mean Johnny Weismiller(sp??) He was an olympic swimmer. Bet you wouldn't think I would know that, huh?????. Enjoy you movie-fest!!!!!! Hey... you sleep til 10am???? You more of a sleepyhead than me.
Thanks for the cute attachment. That's about the right hair color. Attachment complimenst me, making me look taller than 5ftshort!!!!!! Also, I NEVER wear that much clothes this time of year

{{{SOL}}}}} I hear the frustration in your post, and that's ok. You are human like the rest of us, and you have been so dedicated without maybe much loss, BUT you are in the process of making lots of life-altering changes that will DEFINITELY pay off soon. All that exercise and this WOE truly is a healthy lifestyle. Let's hope the changes the Dr. made will get a little kick-start going for you. We ALL are rooting for ya, sweety.

DH is summoning me to hit the sack. Tomorrow will be count down. I still musy go grocery shopping. BTW, DEB darling, I do plan to bring legal food, but I know I will slip up some. Sef has already given me a lecture about not getting TOO cocky. I will just move back a few rows on the wagonand loosen up those seatbelts juat a little. I am going to make a breakfast casserole and while use WWbread to line the pan. We plan on doing steaks one night and I will eat a sweet tater. I have some veggies I can bring. Again, thanks a million for all the well wishes for our trip. Please keep us in your prayers, everyone. I should be back tomorrow to check in before the DEPARTURE!!!!!
  • Amser - have a great (and safe) vacation!

Sol {{{{{hug}}}}} I think we all can relate to some of your frustrations. We know you are trying really hard--try not to beat yourself up. Hope the doctor can be of more help! If only there was a magic pill!

Nance - hope your son mends quickly!

Fillise - I'll be sending good thoughts your way. The time will go fast and Tues will be over before you know it!

  • Sleepy Saturday Morning Post
I'm sipping my coffee :ywan: and reading last night's posts. DH and I did not camp out due to my feeling a bit ill. The tent is up and we hope to camp out tonight instead.

Spent a good bit of time yesterday looking at Disney Marathon info. I am excited about the race and the vacation to follow. Never been to Animal Kingdom or Universal Studios. We ran through small parts of both of them during the 2000 race and they looked fun. Typical wonderful Disney. I priced the rooms (marathoners get a small discount), tickets, and airfare. I think we are gonna go to Cirque de Sole on night. Bill has been to that before and says it is great. I am excited about seeing that too.

I priced plane tix for the LV trip and can't afford them, and the Disney trip, and a work related trip too. I am afraid that I will have to be counted out of that venture. The tickets were considerably more than I anticipated. If we are fortunate enough to catch a great ticket price and I can still get a bed in the PARTAY room to share that cost, then I will be there! I am sad at the thought of not going, but I had to prioritize. I'm sure you understand.

Any NASCAR fans? Big race tonight. I know if we do camp out tonight, I will want to watch/listen to the some of the race.

DH and I are going for a run here in a little while. It's a nice morning but supposed to be a hot day so better go early. Hope to do 4 miles again today.

AMSER - have a great vacation and give Deb a {{{{HUG}}}} from all of us.

SOLSHINE - Sorry that you have experienced so much frustration. I admire you tenacity. I may have given up, it's good that you are being patient. Vince sounds like a sweetie! Promise to never introduce him to Spewer if you ever come this way!

DEB - Marshall's has great stuff too. Founs out recently that TJ Maxx and Marshall's are owned by the same company. There is a 3rd store in that group but I don't know the name of it. Hate that you didn't find anything. Promise to keep Eli from Spewer too!

CATLOVER - Look at the recipes on theAtkins Friends You might find something there for those yummy blueberries. I made the lemon-blueberry cheesecake and it is YUMMY!

FLY - Glad that you are better. I know some yoga poses that are designed to relieve menapause symptoms such as hot flashes.

BOB - Have fun with the movies. Are you a Big Brother fan? Did you watch the 1st Real World Tuesday? I missed it.

SEF - A prize, yipee! I must be like gdtr because I love old pictures too! It's great that your family wrote sentiments on them.

Time to suit up for a run.

    Peace,
    FROG
  • Good morning yall.

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF MY "GET IT IN GEAR PROGRAM!!!!"

I pledge to do the TM 3 days a week and weights 3 days a week for 1 month (07-07-01 thru 08-07-01). I am posting this so I have the motivation to do this knowing yall will be reading this and I dont want to let myself down first of all and not let yall down either.
I was kinda paranoid about putting down these measurements cause I didnt want anyone to know what kidn of shape I am in but here goes- drumroll please !!!!!

    Bust 42
Waist (if you can call it that) 38
    Hips 42

    Weight 175.

I will probably skip WIW for the rest of this month but will check in periodically with my progress and see whats up with you guys.

Now I'm off to the treadmill. Wish me luck
  • CatLover
CATLOVER - thought of another use for those berries. How 'bout the SB cheesecake with berries on top? You can make a "glaze" with the 100% fruit blueberry spread. Yum!

Love your determination and goal setting!

Ran 5.5 with hubby and I am TIRED!

One comment about the kindness of strangers. There is a man that is a local middle school principal in my town. He happens to live about 200 yards from the school where he works. WHen I was training for WDW 2000 he would see us out running about 4 days a week. (He is in the parking lot of that school every morning welcoming the kids. Refreshing!) One day he stopped me to ask why I was seemingly running all the time and I filled him in. Well, I didn't run much after the marathon so he didn't see me most of 2000. This morning he was in his yard and he said "HEY! How was that last race? I haven't seen you since then!" What a thoughtful guy with a great memory. I was tired, but his kindness gave me the motivation to smile and keep running.

    Have a great SB weekend!

    Peace,
    FROG

Time to eat and shower. Gonna watch a little Wimbledon then run errands.
  • Hope you all are enjoying the weekend so far. We have been hot with a heat index of 105! It's the humidity!

Cat - You don't have to cook those blueberries all at once. Wash them, drain and blot them on an old towel, spread them out on a cookie sheet, leaving some space between them. Put that in freeser. When frozen, working quickly, sort of rap the sheet on counter top, pour berries into a freezer bag and put back into the freezer. When you want berries for a recipe just pour out of bag as many as you need.

Butterfly - Thanx for the compliment! I don't know if it's wisdom. More like war torn experience! Glad your three hour mini-vacation worked! Glad also you no longer have to depend on Depends! You're losing weight, getting some toning of the muscles and it all helps our bladders.

Bob - You're so smart! My kids watched Romper Room. I got so sick and tired of...."Bouncing, Bouncing, see me bounce my ball". I also did not like Mr. Rogers, he is so treacley! Sooooooo, my kids are 40 and 38, and if they watched some of those kid shows........get my drift? Your boobs are long enough and thin enough to cross?!? WOW! I'm impressed. Have you ever had Poi? I'll try anything and that stuff is blah! Make good libray paste though! Sorry Sparkle!

Deb - Gee! Glad to hear you're normal. I thought maybe you were Martha's sister!

Sol - Oh! It's not a pity party, although I wanted to cry for you. You really sound so down. I hope the Xenical works! I presume you've had thyroid tests too. Maybe some people are predisposed to being overweight. That used to be my excuse. I
was born that way! Now they are able to help us. I admire your determination! So we will all think positive for you! Vince is a gem!

Seraphim - I don't think Johhny Weismuller was a TV Tarzan, it was the other Olympic swimmer, Buster Crabbe. I think the original movie Tarzan was Elmo Lincoln (I kid you not!). Hey! If you get tooooo cocky you will have to loosen those seat belts.
Have a good time! You are a star, you were the show!

OOPS! Was interrupted last night and didn't post Mexican Chicken Recipe. Will do it now!

    Take care, sef
  • wheres the recipe for the SB cheesecake????

  • Hey All

Garage sales stunko today-I didn't even spend $5.00. Only thing good was childrens books that Eli is trying to hoard to give as a donation. Each year Starbucks is involved with a literacy programs where customers bring in their gently used childrens books and they get donated (down here) to the Miami Rescue Mission. Eli wants to win with the most books, so when I see a good deal, I buy them. Today, I got about 200 books-all of them donated, didn't have to pay anything for them, which is great since he's already shelled out quite a bit of money of his own already-and to think, the programs hasn't even started yet! I think we already have 400 or so books to donate from just us!

I am happy with the scale today-back to 127

Weather is getting bad here, clouds are rolling in, hope it's gone quickly!

I have done a mass e-mailing, so please do check your mail and try to answer back to anything that interests or pertains to you THANKS!

AMSER, you are such a hoot! I really am hoping, no matter what time it is, to meet tomorrow-anytime is good-just give me a buzz on the telly. Just drive safely and be careful for the Troopers out there!! I'll go for my walk in the morning (weather permitting) and then take a shower so I'll be ready for ya! I'll bring some agave nectar, I know I have at least one bottle in there that Michael hasn't had the chance to pry open yet (he has a lovely habit of opening one, than another before the first is done, so I am constantly joining the contents of bottles). Sounds like you are ready to ready to go, in more ways than one!!! See you tomorrow!!!!

FROG, hope you are feeling better I thought about you the other day, I saw a black jacket style top that had what looked like frogs appliqued on it, that looked like they were dancing. Sorry you can't make it to Vegas, but, like you said, if you find a good deal at the last minute you can definitely join the PARTAY ROOM, or my FARTAY ROOM! Did you try ORBITZ.COM?? It definitely wouldn't be the same if you didn't come! I got that same mailing about the marathon in Disney-and of course, thought of you I knew Marshalls and TJMaxx were the same-HOME GOODS is as well, that's something new for us down here.

CAT, what a great commitment you've made-GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you'll do yourself proud I remember having a 42" bust-now it's down to almost a 34! Of course, Eli sure isn't happy about the loss in that area! I wonder, can one have a saggy boob job???

SEF, I wouldn't quite exactly go on to say I was normal! But yes, Martha Stewarts sister, I am not, more like the messy one in the Odd Couple! ELMO LINCOLN, now I sure never heard that name before!!!!

AR, have a wonderful and safe trip. Make us proud with coming back with a loss! A friend went on a cruise last week and came back with a 1 1/2lb loss-so it CAN be done

CHERI, please make sure you e-mail me with your new addy, tried sending e-mail to the old one and it came back-hope you are still with us reading the board!!!

Those of you who are lurking and haven't posted, please don't wait in the background, we'd love to hear from you!! If you are having a hard time, let us know-we'll be happy to help in anyway!!!

Okay gals, I'm outta here for a while. Will work on getting a couple recipes on here if the kids stay off the computer.

    Toodles!
