Red face Friday evening

Evening all!

Today has been a rough day for me. All day long I've just wanted to bury myself into a bag of something that isn't good for me. No specific craving--just wanted to say the heck with it. It was pure emotional craving--not hunger at all. I'm stressed about the lunch on Sunday, the Banquet on Monday and then my DM's heart cath on Tuesday.

The good news is that I didn't give in--but I wanted to so badly. I was going to go to the mall to shop for an Easter dress, but I thought if I got there, there are so many temptations that I didn't know if I'd be able to withstand them--so I holed up at home.

It was really comforting to come to this board tonight and to visit with everyone. I wish I could respond individually, but I have some work I have to do before going to bed.

Y'all be good now!

Susan

Thumbs down SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!

hello everyone,

I AM BACK! i have missed you all so much, i have really felt disconnected for the past few months, so i broke down and got myself a computer! as a new single parent i have tried to budget my purchases into needs and wants, but the computer was a need and definitely a want. so i am back on the wagon if it can be sent this way, BOB where are you?

i am doing pretty well all things considered, the last few weeks have been tough so that may have been part of why i broke down and got the computer. no one said that divorce is easy, that's for sure. the kids are doing well, sarah and i have had a few words, part of that comes from the wild hormones flying at our house, her pre-menstrual puberty clashing with my pre-menopausal ones. jeff has been coming home from college on the weekends to help me get settled, hanging photos, building bookcases, mowing the grass and generally being a great source of support for his "momma", as payback i have done LOADS of laundry and then send him back with food for the week, i guess i forgot how much he can eat!

i am trying very hard to get back on sugarbusters, i have found that my comfort food list does not seem to have anything legal on it! i tend to crave ice cream, especially starbucks!

well must go for now, i see lots of new names, hello and welcome to all, i have a lot of catching up to do.

glad to be back,

your friend, chris

Evening Everyone!

First I want to welcome all the newbies. You will certainly be glad that you found this board. Everyone here is very supportive and there is always someone who can answer most any question you may have.

Second: Happy Birthday Zanne!!!!!

Third: Quilter, hope you and hubbie has a great anniversary!

Since it's kind of late, I won't have time to respond to everyone, but I am so grateful that you all are here.

I went to my Nutritionist today. She gave me a diet (counting carbs and fats). I can continue to eat the SB way but follow the rest of the plan too. I see her again in a month.

Someone, I can't remember who, (sorry I think it's lack of sleep) asked if I was crocheting. I am. I'm making an afghan. This one is a simple double crochet, it's black with gold (the sparkley gold not flat gold) crocheted in with it. I'm just making a twin throw for my bedroom which is done in leopard print. I am also crocheting two tops to put on top of a toss pillow. The pillow is black and the crocheted top is the gold.

Well, I'm pooped, I'll be back tomorrow.

Default Saturday Morning

Well, good Saturday Morning Everybody!!!

Hope your weather is good and shiny and easy. It's supposed to be in the 60s here today which means warm enough weather to tackle that garage. I'm eager to get started.

My eating was great yesterday. I feel good today that I did well. Got to the top of my point range right at dinner and worried that I'd cave and go over. I had enough points to have one orange as a snack and so I didn't bust the ceiling.

ZANNE----I forgot your birthday. So sorry!!! So HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you had fun and that you were made to feel like a princess. Did you do anything fun? I hope you took a few moments of "me time" to help you focus truly on how wonderful you are!!!

COUNTRY----Thanks so much for the new avatar. I hope I've done it right so that everyone can see your pretty handiwork. I hope you have a great weekend. Anymore mowing to do? We finished ours last night, thank God! That's a job that feels good once it's over. It's the first time we mowed and I started before Paul got home. I actually got the mower started which I couldn't believe. Of course, it about asfixiated me with all the stupid smoke billowing out of it. I think it needs some work. LOL I was just picturing myself as a big puff of smoke traveling all over the backyard. I was too embarrassed to take it out front for fear someone I knew would drive by. LOL

SHEANN---A nutritionist sounds fun! I would love to do that to see what kinds of things they say. I know you will see lots of improvement now that you are setting a limit for yourself. I feel that way and that's why I do WW points and SB together. I needed something to say, "ENOUGH!!! NO MORE EATING FOR YOU!" And it works pretty well for me. Also keeps me accountable for those dreaded portion sizes. Your afghan sounds neat. Very fancy with the gold yarn, and that will go well with the leopard print.

BKM---Glad to see you are back on with us. Congrats on the new computer. I have your number and have wanted to call you for many weekends, but don't think of it until the time is not right. Perhaps we can touch base soon. I'm glad to hear that Jeff is coming home and giving you a hand. That makes him feel needed and the man of your new house. Hang in there with those cravings! You had such success and had lost so much a few months back, you sure don't want all that to come back on and to have to relose it. If it's a sweet treat you like, try this . . . I buy the frozen berries (bags of rasp & blue mainly). I measure out a serving in a big cup. Then I put a little splenda on it then pour 2/3 - 1 cup of milk over that. Since the berries are still frozen, the milk kind of freezes and it's a yummy healthy, SB legal treat. I call it my ice cream.

FILLISE---I am so proud of you for not caving to those dreaded emotional cravings. I think those are the worst temptations. You should feel great about yourself and really give yourself a pat on the back for withstanding those temptations. I have been there and it's no fun. You did really well. Hang in there with those stressful situations. Your worrying won't help. There are many good thoughts and prayers going up for your mom. Just picture all those prayers with her name on them. That's got to be a comforting picture.

JANE---Did you get my email with the afghan pattern? I sent it last night about 9 p.m. If not, let me know and I'll try doing a private message on the board.

HEART---Congrats on the loss!!! You are doing great! Stay focused and you'll keep seeing the weight come falling off. That regular exercise is really helping. Keep it up, girlfriend!!! Glad to hear your DH is doing his job too. Those compliments are wonderful to get.

MONET---Were your legs like rubber when you finished with that 1.5 hour massage? That sounds like a little heaven on earth. I love a good massage. I used to go to a woman regularly, but she talked so much during the massage that I finally quit going. She always wanted to tell me what to do with my life. How am I supposed to relax when she was preaching at me the whole time. Your deal sounds like a winner. Just because I've only been married 7 years, doesn't make me young. I was 38 when Paul and I finally tied the knot. So I'm a peri-menopausal princess just like so many on this board. I had to wait a long time to find Mr. Right. Those were hard lonely (and sometimes disappointing) years, but I'm so thankful now that nothing worked out between any of those past rejects. Paul is the perfect husband for me. He was worth the wait. Yes, I'll get your email address from your bio and send the afghan pattern to you. It's super easy. You'll be done in no time. I can't whip anybody's tail about the TM. I haven't been on but one day this week. Just feeling so icky and sluggish and stuff. I felt like I needed the extra sleep this week. I'll get back on soon, probably tomorrow. Will need to after we work our you-know-what's off out in that garage today.

DEB---I got an email from that person you met yesterday. I emailed her back this morning and will try and call her later. I don't believe in calling anybody before 9 a.m. on a saturday. Where did you meet her? I told her she hit the jackpot when she met you! Many, many people cross the river (both ways) to go to work. It's really no big deal. In fact, I go over to the NKY side many days a week, just to shop. It's just like crossing another street for us. She's much closer to me than JACKK. JACKK is further down the river. You sure have got my curiosity up about the pb flour. Sounds yummy. I like the look of the calories and fats. Nothing compared to the real thing. I use that natural pb and only use 1 T because it's just so high in fat. But honestly 1T is plenty for me. Otherwise it would be stuck to the roof of my mouth and I'd never get it swallowed. LOL

SEF---That's a wonderful story about your friend's service children. Can you imagine getting a call from a loved one who's inside one of those palaces? Today's technology is something! I think you might really like the chenille yarn. It's just so soft and makes anything (even sc) look plush and fancy. Your DD would love the color of this yarn. The color name is wine and it's from the Lions Brand of Quick and Thick yarns.

Take care all.

I'm here and just read all the messages from the last couple days. I had company yesterday (dh's sister and family) so I got out of the loop. We went out to eat and I ordered the "naked snapper" with salad and veggies. I still feel like I ate too much because of some snacking yesterday.
Deb-My 10K run took me 1 hour, 13 minutes and 50 seconds. So you can see how slow I run. I had a great feeling when I finished the race but can't say that I enjoyed the actual race. I know I didn't train adequately but oh well...
I have to go to Hilton Head for ds's lacrosse game--2.5 hour drive each way. That will take most of the day. I just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. I'll be back on this evening.

Default Good Morning All!

Oh my gosh, I'm so far behind, I'll never catch up!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a great day! DH woke DS up at 6am before DH went to work. The wee guy came down all sleepy with his hands behind his back. He handed me a small velvet box. Inside was an earring and pendant set that I had shown DS last week. This kid is only 5, but he remembered! Each piece is a big pearl surrounded by little pinky purple stones (tourmalines and tanzanites). My guys are sneaky. They had worked out a plan for when and how they would go to the jewelery store without me knowing!

Last night we went to Outback for dinner with some friends. I brought a bunch of balloons for our goddaughter who turns 16 on the 17th. So she was a little surprised. I got some grilled veggies and steak served on rice. I ate the rice. Oh well, I had planned on eating rice or a potato. We came back to our house for dessert of key lime pie. I had a small piece. But now it's right back on plan today.

I'm not "uncomfortable" in the crotch area any more, so I will be getting back to my cardio exercise today too.

I'm going to go from memory or what I've picked up skimming thru the posts. Sorry I won't get to everyone.

BOB--how are you doing? You sound like youre in a lot of pain. I hope that eases up real soon!

GRIN--Your posts are so positive! Congrats on being in remission and for not having to do any more treatments. We have a friend who's been thru Hodgkins 3 times and I know you haven't had an easy path. I am truly happy you are cancer free!

QUILTER--Happy Anniversary to you! What's this? You're sending out a pattern??? The chenile yarn sounds lovely and I'd love a new project to keep my hands busy so I won't eat. Could you send me the pattern too, please? [email protected]

DEBELLI--Great news about your dad. I hope the pathology report is good next week too.

WELCOME--to all the newbies! Looks like quite a few have joined us. This is a wonderful place for support, knowledge and inspiration.

BKM--Welcome back! Glad things aren't too bad with you. Now that you're reconnected to us, you'll do great!

FILLISE--sending good thoughts for you and your mom. It will be a comfort for her to have you there. I'm sure everything will go smoothly.

I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY for all those I've missed. I think about everyone all the time.

I have to go and do some work on the investment property. Nearly done now! Whoohoo, I'll get my DH back!

I feel rather out of it today. Not sure why. I am DEFINITELY wasting time and procrastinating. The sun is shining, and I have four roses that need to be planted. I just don't want to do it. Guess I will drag my lazy butt out there and figure out where to put the babies.

Eating has been good, except for a few too many peanuts yesterday. I am keeping my starchy carbs to one or less a day, and it is getting easier to do.

DEB: That PB flour sounds interesting. I would like the contact info.

BOB: Gosh, I wish you were better! It makes me feel so bad to think you have to deal with back pain! You could have definitely had my 1.5 hour massage yesterday.

QUILTER: Thanks for being willing to send me the pattern! I just checked my email on the bio board, and put in a new one. The old one got on some porno list and was getting irritating. The new one will hopefully not be filled up with yucky emails asking me to view outrageous stuff! Can I bug you if I need help with the crocheting? Its been a long time for me. My aunt taught me, and she died twenty five years ago!

Thumbs down Good Saturday Morning!

My outlook is better today than it was yesterday!!!!! Thanks for all your support and kind words of encouragement.

It's gorgeous here today. I have a lot to do, but thinking I might get it all done in time to relax a bit tonight, Wouldn't that be nice!

BOB--Sorry to hear than you are still hurting! Sending you a bunch of get well balloons!

Zanne--Happy belated birthday! It sounds like you had a great day (jewelry is always good!). AND it sounds like you celebrated sensibly! WTG!

Linworth--Congrats on finishing the race! It is better to finish slowly than to never start at all!

Kim--Thank you--the prayer visualization IS very comforting. At least I was able to recognize that the need was emotional and deal with it. That's what is nice about my good SB friends--I know this is a safe and supportive environment for venting.

Sheanne--That afgan sounds gorgeous! Good luck with the nutritionist. Sometimes we have to educate them.

BigK--It's great to see you back on the board!!! Now that you have a computer, I hope we will hear from you often. I imagine that this has been a difficult year for you--but it sounds like your kids are supportive and that you are doing the best you can. You know we will provide support in any way we can. Why don't you get on the back on the wagon challenge!

I talked to my DM this am and she seems in better spirits about having to do the heart cath. A friend of hers called her and said that she wished her Dr. had made her have the cath instead of waiting till she had a heart attack. We are trying to focus on the fact that this is a GOOD thing. What's hard is not knowing what happens afterwards. Angioplasty and stints are one thing, but if she wakes up to find that they cracked her ribs open to do bypass, boy is she gonna be Pi**ed!

Off to get some of my chores done!

Have a great Op day everyone!

Post Saturday

Hello everyone.

Well my 6 yr. old hasn't found those glasses yet. I don't think she wants to find them. I'm sending her on a search mission right now though and she had better find them!

My 9 yr. old ended up with a broken arm instead of just a sprained wrist. I'm really wishing that we would have went on and taken her to the ER the night it happend. They just put a splint on there for the weekend, and Monday I have to call and get her in to get a cast on. She's really upset about it. I told her to look at it this way: "at least you get out of having to do some stuff." It didn't help her, she was still mad about it. The doc said it's a non-displaced fracture of the right radius, and that she would probably only need a cast for 4 weeks, so we'll see. They gave her Tylenol 3 for pain too. Since that will make her sleepy, I give it to her when she goes to bed, unless she needs it during the day some, other than that I give her Motrin; don't want her to rely on the Tylenol 3 too much.

I was so busy yesterday it wasn't even funny. First I drove 20 min. to the base for hubby to pick up his truck, then drove 20 min. back to the house, then another 20 min. on up the road to W.M. and then back home. Was home maybe an hour, hour and a half then had to go 20 min. again to the ER. The only time I was able to sit was waiting on the docs in the ER! I didn't do my walking video yesterday, but all the walking I did should make up for that. I'm pretty tired today, but hoping to get out some since it's really nice. Hubby went fishing, so I'm alone once again this week with the girls to do as we want.

Sorry not to have responded to everyone, but I totally missed the boards yesterday. So a great big HELLO
to everyone. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Gotta go, going to see if we can't find something fun to do today! I'll check back later.

Ok, I made some progress. I planted three of the four roses. I just can't decide where I want the fourth one yet. Besides, I hate planting stuff. You get all dirty, and have to kneel down in the dirt, and there are worms and other stuff in there...ew! The cat was watching me intently. Probably wondered what I was burying out there. One of the roses bit me. Feeding them and spraying them is not so bad, but pruning and planting...I just don't know.

FILLISE: I am glad you are better today. I bet the gorgeous weather helps! Isn't it nice? Sunshine! I am sure everything is going to go great! The banquet, and luncheon, and the surgery for your mom. You have a lot on you right now, and you did really great resisting the emotional pull for comfort foods!

JECRITES: Still no glasses huh? I was about six or seven when I got my first pair. The other kids in my glass made fun of me, and I hated wearing them. I conveniently lost mine and never wore them again until I wanted to start driving! I hope your daughter isn't experiencing that kind of stuff. And that is awful about your older daughter having a broken arm instead of just a sprain! Poor kid! Good that the cast won't have to stay on too long! It would be a bummer not to be able to swim and stuff in the summer!

ZANNE: That was so sweet about your son and the birthday present. How I wish I could go back to when my son was five. He was such a sweetie! Five to about eight are my favorite ages. The jewelry sounds really pretty- never seen anything like what you described.

BOB--Thanks for the b-day wishes. Don't worry, I wouldn't beat up on a girl when she's down. But just wait till you're feeling better

MONET--I really think I should get that house down the street from you! we could team up on the gardening. I like roses too. I have about 20 (mind you, I don't know what the "return of winter" did to them). I like the digging and planting part, just not so keen on the maintenance. Yes, my son was a little sweetie. I really like "different" stuff and this particular jewelry store has lots of it!

FILLISE--Glad you're feeling better today. I hope your work goes smoothly so you get some relaxation time tonight. Thank you for the birthday wishes. YUP! Jewelry is ALWAYS good!

JECRITES--Sorry you DD has a broken arm instead of just a sprain. With all that running around you did yesterday, I hope you get some time to relax today.

good morning to all...

Just a quick hello and send some healing wishes to all that are ill. I was a bit of an oink yesterday, my handul of peanuts turned into a bowl. Needless to say they are off my shopping list for awhile. The best thing is that was yesterday and I'm over it..Today we are blessed with a new beginning.

Deb..I'm in the SE corner of British Columbia. We are the Western edge of Canada. Washington, Idaho and Montana are our Southern border neigbours. Canada is the 2cnd largest country in the World with Russia still being #1 and China#3. I'm not great with geograpy either...

I have visited many of your States. Here is my pet peeve. Every state I go to is so beautiful it becomes my favorite. You have so much diversity in your country. I especially love Washington or is it that gorgous Utah, Hawaii is lovely but perhaps Montana is my favorite!!! I do adore Californian and Nevada... Arrrggg!! see what you do to me
Anyhoo have a great weekend everyone...Lori

Hi everyone!

It's kind of cloudy here today, but I think it might get better later on. I hope.

Quilter: Glad to hear that your weather is good there. It is supposed to be sunny today and in the high 50s. Our grass isn't ready to mow just yet. There's still a bit of snow on it. I do dread getting our lawnmower started though. I just might be in the same situation as you were I just wanted to mention to you that seeing the nutritionist was really cheaper than I thought it would be. It's only $50 the first visit which lasts an hour and covers the second visit which is 1/2 hour. After that it is only $10 per visit. I couldn't believe it. The last one I consulted was $25 per visit. I agree with you. I need something to keep me accountable. I like your new avatar. Your "ice cream" sounds really good. I'm gonna remember that. I have made one with frozen strawberries and sugar free juice. It's kind of like a frozen "slurpee".

Linworthlady: You should be proud that you finished the race. You can get faster, but at least you had the nerve to enter and finish. I have to whip myself to get out there and walk Have a great day today.

Zanne: Glad that you had a great Birthday. Sounds to me like "your guys" are wonderful. Your jewelry sounds beautiful.

Deb: Praying and thinking good thoughts about your Dad. I just know that the pathology report will come back good.

Bob: I am still hoping and praying that you will feel good really soon. It's terrible how long you have felt this way.

Fillise: I am so glad that you are feeling better today. You and your Mom are still in my prayers.

Monet: I know what you mean about planting stuff. I hate to plant it but the rewards of looking at it and smelling the roses are worth it.

BK: Glad to have you back. We missed you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know how difficult it is to start anew. I divorced suddenly in 1999.

Jecrites: Sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday. Hopefully your little one will find her glasses soon and was sorry to hear that your other daughter had a break instead of a sprain. At least she won't have to wear her cast long.

Guess I had better go a get my walk in before I talk myself out of it. That would not be a good thing.

Have a great Saturday.
