I know for sure I will not be doing the broccoli salad. I did try some today from the salad bar (raw) and I might as well gone outside and picked leaves off the bushes and ate them. Raw broccoli is nasty. My daughter was with me and she said "you gotta dip it in something". So I dipped it in a little ranch dressing, but all the ranch dressing in the world won't make it taste any better. Cooked until it's limp and all the crunchiness, vitamins and minerals are out, then we'll talk.

Anyway, the salad was good, lettuce, tomato, ham (no turkey), egg, cheese, sunflower seeds, bacon bits and ranch dressing.

Tonight will be the leftover hamburger patty from last night. I don't know what will be with it.

I remembered my meds this morning - did everyone else?

Talk to y'all later!

Laurie, I can't respond to private messages for some reason so I will answer you here. Sorry to all the others.

I take 1 Lasix and 1 Dyazide. The Dyazide is potassium sparing. On MOnday's I sometimes take 2 Lasix. I am now taking a potasssium supplement. Hope that helps.

Be back tomorrow afternoon to do replies.

GYM: I have a nice lavendar glaze. I can see what is available in purples. I can make my own with stains, or find a commercial glaze in purple. Do you mean grape jelly purple? And if you want butterflies, I will see what I can do.

RAY: Depends on the mug. Anywhere from $14 to 22.

Ok, I am seriously bummed. Tom was supposed to have insurance through Feb. 1, and the pharmacy just called and told me that my insurance has been cancelled and I need to bring in my new card! argh!

Just checking in. Back from the cardio and I'm exhausted. Its 6 hours there round trip not counting the office visit and lunch. I did well with lunch. Had a grilled chicken sand. on sourdough and a salad. I brought half the sand. home to eat for dinner. I take 2 lasix and a maxside in water pills. the potassium supplements really help. Okay having a hot cup of tea and watching my little dog go crazy from being in the cage all day.

Evening..I finally got through an entire day treat free. I can say my day was awesome. I worked out a ton both job wise and personal. I hoofed up and down my stairs (3 flights) 5 times doing laundry and moving stuff.

B-c cottage cheese and applesauce w cinnamon coffee, water and green tea
l-left over linguini w/chicken and huge thing of cooked broccoli
s- orange and 1/2 pb sandwich
s-11/2 c glycerna cereal and cup milk
d-4 oz chicken, brocolflower (so hybrid vegi my sister bought) and brussel sprouts
D- sf pudding and green tea

I am quite tired and ready for bed but getting through an entire day "good" again assures me im back on track. Sometims it just takes that one whole day to know.."I CAN DO IT"

Funny story..I went to work this am and my boss said..there is something different, you look really good tday. (mind you its a fitness job so I wear stretchy pants and a tshirt and un showered hair in a ponytail. My face got slimmer and I think she just couldn't figure that out. HAHA I didn't say anything just found it cute.

Have an awesome nite.

Yea! another good day for me too!! I had someone at work ask me how much I had lost so far!! I just wanted to hug her neck!! Things like that really make me want to keep going!!

I have a question... I heard someone say that you could make a pretty good apple crisp with sugar free apple pie filling and low sugar instant oatmeal. How bad do you think this would be just to have a very small serving? and would I need to add any butter or anything to the oatmeal before I put it on top of the apples? I bought the apples and some weight control cinnamon oatmeal tonight. I can at least make it as a treat for Craig and the kids, but should I steer clear? Thanks in advanced for you opinions!!

I dunno but it sounds yummy..Id think it was fine as the weight contrl oarmeal is sugar free. The only reason it wouln't be ok is instant oatmeal has a high GI ans spikes the blood sugar. I don't know if that would matter in apple crisp.

I have a bunch more hats posted on my Etsy store. I've gotten it down and can crank one out in about an hour and a half, uninterrupted.

Eating has been so-so. Its so hard to keep produce in the fridge when your food stamp allowance for the MONTH for a family of FOUR is only $180. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any help I can get, but I remember Shelley's father, who never worked a decent job in his life and was a family of ONE, getting $300 a month. Don't get me started on the $25 a month he was supposed to pay me in child support but wasn't enforced because he was on welfare. It just irks me that Derek, who has been working hard for a couple of decades, contributing to the system via a paycheck, gets so little but the one that was a total drain on the system gets so much.

Anyhow...we're totally out of produce except one banana that I'm putting in Kyle's lunch with his PB&J, so my eating has been horrible. I had coffee for BF, Ramen noodles for lunch and linguine alfredo for dinner. Not one ounce of fruit or veggies and no money for it until the first.

OH! OH! OH! I almost forgot the GOOD news. Derek got a response to a call he made to Rite Aid because he heard they are hiring new technicians to fix THEIR one-hour photo machines because they just bought out Eckerd's and Brook's drug stores. He remembered Derek from one of the jobs he had ten years ago at a Kodak company named Qualex. This guy used to work for Qualex, then, too, but left for the same reasons Derek did and remembered his reputation of the guy that can fix anything and would work 80 our work weeks to get the job done. He apologized and said, "Now, it may be a week or two until you hear from HR, but you will be hearing from them...do you know anyone else that needs a job?" In other words, they're hiring more than one person. It looks good and I'll be happy to get back into providing for ourselves again...trust me...so will Derek.

Keep us in your prayers!!

That is very good news indeed! I am hoping for the very best for y'all. A couple of years ago I was laid off after 12 years at the same job. I drew my unemployment and got food stamps and for me and the 2 grandkids I got 299.00 a month and that was getting a weekly check from unemployment.

Today is totally unplanned, I don't know what I'm gonna eat. I know I will have to go get something for lunch though. Don't have to cook tonight, hubby has to go out of town today.

Have a very nice day!
