Good morning everyone. I have not weighed, yet. We started SB on Jan. 2nd. I do not own scales. Does anyone have recommendations on what type of scales to purchase at reasonable prices...? We had a set of scales a couple of years ago but they weren't accurate. I weighed on my mom's scales the other day and according to them, I had lost 9lbs, but I don't think they are accurate, either. All suggestions would be helpful, since hubby needs to weigh, too.
Thanks,

Michele

DAY 3!!!!

I went out with 2 of my very best friends last night - one of them absolutely LOVES desserts and was wanting to split this and split that....I just said NO and did not grieve the gooey loss.

*NO SUGAR NO SUGAR - NO SUGAR ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND
*night off for exercise
*STUCK TO PLAN

Today I will just eat a big fat salad, 2 scrambled eggs, fruit, protein for dins with a garden of veggies.........and I run tonight and weightlift.

I spoke with this nutrionist that I hired from England who is amazing - she wins all these dead weightlifting competitions and is an avid raw foodist - she is 60ish I think and has got over cancer many many times.....anyway I asked her to give me a 2008 kick in me arse and I told her what I was doing and she said that exericising is useless unless you couple it with good dieting concessions!!! I got told!

Solly - I am glad to read that your blood is behaving! I could almost swear sometimes that we have bum bones - because mine ache like anything when I do lower body stuff too.....do you still believe Jane Fonda's "no pain, no gain?"

Toni: you're shrinking 1/2 pound by 1/2 pound - it's all good babygirl!!!

Michele: I bought a weightwatchers scale because I figured that WW is mostly ruled by women and they would get the scale dead-on-accurate!!! It was $120.00 though - that's the poopy part of it!

GM! I’ve been quite busy so I didn’t post last week but things have been going good. I’ve loss 4 lbs so far. I feel it’s going relatively slow though…I don’t know. It’s been two weeks since I re-started SB.

I’ve pretty much cut out sugar and starchy carbs. Breakfast consists mainly of plain yogurt and some oats added in, lunch is usually a turkey sandwich with lettuce and an apple, and dinner is always lots of veggies and most of the time it’s fish and tofu. I cook all my food and I don’t eat out anymore because I want control over what I am making. I eat just a serving of everything and don’t re-fill my plate. I don’t snack and I’ve been averaging 3-4 liters of water every day. In addition, I’ve also started Couch to 5K running challenge and am on week 2 (I run day 2 week 2 tonight). So I’m physically active and I’m eating right……does anyone have any advice?

Some good news though, I’m so excited I found some petite workout pants at Target! They are from the Champion C9 line and they are bootleg, petite fit. As someone who’s on the short side (5'1"), this is wonderful! I’ve been wearing them pretty much when I run and I’ve been running outdoors. Although I’m looking to join a gym because I live in MN and right now it’s coooold!

Morning! I just made it in under the wire! I glazed this morning and have the kiln firing...need to go turn it up to high in a minute.

I forgot to weigh on Monday, or today...maybe tomorrow! I am really encouraged to read how well everyone is doing...and the losses! Yay!

I will try and get back after I get the kiln up to high and I can leave it to fire off.

Wow Sour - you are doing amazing....you don't have too much to lose....it's kinda like those "last 10 pounds" ...... you sound regular - like a whomp of loss in the beginning and then things slow down - because Mother Nature likes to see how patient we are - and if we are patient we start losing again. Hang in there

I read a really good quote today: "it's hard to maintain weight loss", "it's hard to lose" "it's hard to diet": pick your hard.

techwife....Mole is chicken usually boiled 1st then simmered with a very special gravy sauce and the ingredients can vary. Mine usually includes mexican chocolate, peanut butter (some add this some dont), spices like cumin, oregano, cilantro, onion, garlic, a little flour, either chili powder or fresh chilies...like chipotle or chile anchos that have been steamed and then ground up.

Rosemary...who is now suddenly hungry...lol

Good morning..

Im off to a great start.

Congrats to everyone who weighed in and lOST..WHOOO. any loss is a good loss. Remember that. I cheated and weighed in early. I weigh on Sat am after I pee. LOL But my middle day weight was last weeks first thing in the am weight so I am hopeful for SAT. Im tucking the scale away.

Sour-I feel your pain. Im in the same boat as you..work out, eat right and nothing. The only thing I can suggest--and I got that advice here is limit starchy carbs to 1-2. I didn't realize how many I was eating until I took a look at written food diaries. I am adding a lot more protein. Although I haven't weighed in, im thinking optimistic. AND YAY about the work out pants. I will go myself. Im 5'2" and I can only wear capri's or I trip over the bottoms. Thanks for posting that.

Monet--Glad you made it..that was close. What was the deadline for? I'm curious

Mercee-Busy days are good--they keep the mind occupied. LOL Hope you get some time to relax.

Ray-Nice..that's 2 whole days behind you. stay with it. Awesome saying no..Sometime it's hard, other times it isn't. The more you say no the more people stop asking. Rock on.

Michele-I too have the ww scale..was pricey but well worth it. Sticking to the same scale helps to avoid confusion, or so I feel.

Congrats on what ever you did loose.

So I just started a new Wednesday job for the kids fitness facility near my house. On Wed morning i'll be asst Teaching a sports class. I wore my heart rate Monitor (something I swear by and thing everyone should own one) and in the 1.5 hours of cleaning, setting up and teaching the class I burned 313 calories. AND I GOT PAID TO do it. Always a plus. Since I work there, right after thet class I can take the adult fitnes class for FREE. So just by working I burned over 800 calories before 11. My kind of morning.

I am having a power protein Salad (I made up the name haha) It has lettuce, a whole cucumber, grape tomato's, raw broccoli, a can of tuna mixed will tbs dill relish, and a table spoon of cottage cheese. All mixed up. It's huge and filling. It make take me a few hours to finish it. ( i tend to eat small a few more times a day) I did put 2 tbs sugar free dressing with 10g fat because I did burn so much I need it. (ok maybe not need it but it won't hurt)

Hope everyone is having a good day. I am freezing in my house. Im going to snuggle under a blanket and read for a bit to relax.

I'm typing this in real time as it's happening;

My coworker just very quietly went to her seat with her afternoon snack which she always gets from the vending machine - it's chips and pop - she is 60 and very overweight......I feel embarrassed for her because she was very gung-ho on going on a DIET and saying stuff like "this is gonna be it - I'm gonna' do it this time and I better smartin' up" and of course because she doesn't have a plan or support she will fail and fail and fail.

I just look at her because I have been her 8,000 times and I know now what I looked like........the best way to help her is to then look the other way to give her her privacy.... because I totally understand!

GYMRAT: yes you are eating a power salad - I eat a power soup....I love it!!!!

Had some trouble with my computer and couldn't get the reply to work the last time I logged on. Weighed in on Monday and lost 1 pound - down to 185 again.

Would have had a very bad weekend if I'd had any "bad" food in the house! Was wanting it badly (pms) but luckily we live too far out of town to go shopping and just didn't feel up to baking! As it was, only had a few chocolates and some corn tortilla chips.

As of Monday - back on track and feeling good - no cravings.

I'm glad I can come here and read what you are all struggling with and learn from you. Then when I have some bad days, I know I'm not alone.

This week I'm up to 13 min. walking every day (I've been adding 1 min. a week - and I'm on my 3rd week) and I do either some yoga or strength training every day - not a lot of it and I add a bit more each week too. I've also been working on the Kegels - I'm up to 5 for 8 seconds (I've been adding 1 sec. a week too). Doesn't look like much when I write it down - but I've been sticking with it - which means it's working for me!

Have a great week all.

Default Wow

still trying to catch up because I haven't been at the computer since I joined. I must make it a point to check in more often because I like to be in the know. That means reading lots of back posts!

I was riding high on success though.
Ignore my ticker till I update it!!!!
I have lost 8 pounds since I started dieting. I fell one day and ate double cheeseburgers (yes, that was plural). Anyway, I was so disappointed that it encouraged me to go on SB. No real counting, no measuring, no cooking meals just for me and separate ones for my family.

We had spaghetti, and I LOVE vermicelli, and HATE ww pasta. So, what's a girl to do? Steam some finely sliced cabbage!! My 18 yr old daughter chose the cabbage over the pasta too. It was super delicious.

I do hope to get to know everyone better and be able to offer and receive tips and encouragement.

NEWBIES: Welcome to the group! I am new too.

This is going to be great.
And if any of you out there are in the "I have lost/need to lose 100 lbs" group, please send me personal message.
I can hardly believe I have gotten so overweight, but I really want to stick to this and get it ALL off. And I like others to succeed too!

Gotta run.

BTW, for those who are new to SB, I want them to know that I have lost 4 lbs in one week while even having a two egg omelet with cheese twice a week. I cook LOADS of fresh spinach with some onion and mushroom in a small amount of olive oil, then set that aside onto a plate. Then cook the omelet in the same skillet. Put the veggies back in and add freshly grated REAL parmesan cheese. Awesome breakfast, sticks to you, and then I don't even want a snack before lunch.

Lunch is pretty boring but it keeps me on track.
2 cans of tuna, drained. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and/or lemon juice.
Salad of romaine, green, and red lettuce with dressing.
I even use the full fat Ken's Creamy Caesar. But sparingly.

For hot lunch I like the same two cans of tuna added to sauteed mushrooms and onions, then add 1 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese and grated fresh parmesan. I eat it with steamed spinach.

I keep it simple so that I'm not thinking about food all day and wondering what to eat next.

I hope we all finish great this week.
Carrie

It is snowing in North Georgia!! Looks like we have at least 1/2 in so far and now they are saying we may get 1-2 in before it is over!!! I'm praying for no school tomorrow!!!!!

Carrie, i just might try that idea of yours with the finely sliced cabbage! i never thought of that. i wonder if some of the pre-packaged stuff they sell for coleslaw would work.

instead of eating it for breakfast, i took a cup of shredded wheat cereal to work and snacked on it throughout the afternoon. it tasted bland, but it was filling and i didn't need to eat any other snacks.

i think my pants are a little looser; i hope i'll be happy at my weigh-in on friday!
