Default HAPPY THURSDAY MORNING!!!!

Just wanted to touch base this morning and wish EVERYBODY WHO READS THIS a fabulous day with tons of victories and no failures. Remember, everyone . . . this is a journey, so let's enjoy every step of the way. I am in a panic for something to wear this morning. Nothing fits. Tried those dreaded jeans on this morning focusing in on how well I've been eating and they are still too tight!!!! EEEEEEEK!!! It's maddening! I want instant gratification. Must remember about the journey . . . just wish I had something to wear on it. So I'd better go rummage through the closet and find something halfway decent. One of these days I'll squeeze into those jeans and be able to sit down and everything in them.

I have book club tonight, so don't look for me before 10 p.m. But tomorrow is my day off so I will catch up with everybody then. Don't talk about me while I'm gone. LOL

Take care.

Good Thursday Morning Everyone

Just got home from doing my walk/jog, did only 3.5 miles today-thought I'd take it easy.

I journaled everything I ate yesterday but didn't eat enough as I was running most of the day-not typical of me. I'm going to post todays journal instead, I surely don't want anyone thinking yesterday was typical for me and follow my lead by doing what I did-definitely have to post my usual intake. BUT, I was back in control, and that felt good. I drank enough water, journaled, got in my exercise and stayed away from the scones in the freezer-and today, the scale is down a 1/2lb-still up 4.5 from my lowest, but once again, staying within THE ZONE!

I have TWO REQUESTS If you haven't already done so, PLEASE make sure YOUR BIO is up on our latest BIO BOARD The link is below, just click on it to get there. If you aren't on it I won't have you on my mailing list, and gawd forbid the site goes down, I won't be able to keep you informed of the goings on-among other things-so please, when you have a chance, do try to get it up there THANKS!

http://64.119.161.199/forum/showthre...?threadid=3773

SECONDLY I know it may be a pain for some, but it REALLY helps when we post our stats at the end of our posts. To see where we were, where we are and where we want to go really helps others see our successes on this WOE. Of course, this isn't mandatory, nothing on the board is, but it is nice to see everyone try to participate in doing this.

I have a Dentist appt at 9:30am this morning, so have to get ready-just a cleaning, at least I hope it doesn't lead into something else!

After school I have to take Lauren to my friend Tom's house-I've known him since 7th grade (yep, old friends). He's going to coach her for her audition for the school she wants to attend next year (same school as Michael, just the Arts Magnet instead of IB like Michael). Her audition is this Monday. He's an actor (has worked with Burt Reynolds among others in the past, but does mostly local stuff now) and he's going to work with her giving her tips, timing, hopefully all the things she needs to help get her into the school-the talent part is up to her. PLEASE PRAY THAT SHE MAKES IT INTO THIS SCHOOL! In the Drama area of the magnet, they only take 24 kids, so the competition is fierce. Can't imagine what I will do if she has to go to a regular school, having 2 in different HS sure will suck!

BETH, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you've decided to join us. CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss thus far, seems you are well on your way to acheiving your goal. The cravings you are having are normal, they will past, just stay strong. It could be from your body detoxing from the sugar and other crap, and/or it could be hormonal-some times during the month I go on a feeding frenzy, but of course, I stay SB LEGAL. You could try upping your protein intake, this helps quite often. You are in good company, there are a few other teachers on the board. Sounds like you have a busy life! KEEBLER! Oh boy, I used to work next to a Keebler warehouse, that was hard enough. BUT, you know you can be strong, besides, take one look at the ingredients they put in their products (not just singling out Keebler, they all do it) and that alone should keep you far away from temptation. You don't HAVE to eat starchy carbs at all, but do limit them to 2-3 a day if you do eat them. Fruit juice is okay on occasion, and in small quantities, but do try to eat the fruit instead-that's lots better for you. Again, WELCOME!!

BOB, yep you won-you know me too well!!! LOL!! Keep up the great work at the gym!!!

Crap, I have to get in the shower, running late. QUILTER, HAPPY, ROSALIE, HAM, NASCAR, RHOO I'll post to you all later

Toodles

Smile A Quickie

Morning! Got lots to do but just HAD to stop to write:

OH, MY!!!! Just made Deb's smoothie (recipe on newest board) with a frozen fruit combo of strawberries, peaches and rhubarb! (the mixture comes frozen at our grocery store). JUST WONDERFUL!!!

I was hungry and going to grab something bad, and saw the recipe sitting on my counter. Whipped it up in no time and it is DE-LISH!!!!

Oooohhhhh! Just thought of something. What if you omitted the fruit and put in some cocoa powder? A legal chocolate shake? Is cocoa legal???

Anyway, the fruit smoothie is great and quick to make and took away my hungry feeling.

Thanks for the recipe DEB!!!!

(I'll try to post more later)

Only Thursday – What a week!

I’m slowly getting used to this blonde person who keeps looking at me in the mirror. I was really un-easy about it yesterday, but I think its gonna be OK – I guess it will have to be!! My DH did say last night that it makes me look more “classy”… I guess that’s good?!?!?!

Went to church last night and saw something AMAZING! We are celebrating the congregation’s 40 yr. Anniversary in a couple of weeks and the ladies are bringing in all kinds of old pictures. There was a picture of me and my Mom and Dad that I couldn’t believe. I was a STICK GIRL!!! I didn’t even qualify as a bag of bones – I would have just been A bone!! I was about 13 in the picture. Funny, I don’t remember being that small at that age…. I did go through a terrible time in my late teens where my weight was around 90 lbs (waaaaaayyyyy to skinny), but I didn’t realize how thin I was before then. Oh, to have a good happy medium that I could find my way to now………. I was probably 20-25 lbs underweight then, now 20-25 over!! What a difference 10 years of marriage and 2 kids will make, huh!

Deb – I would post a pic if the scanner/copier/printer my DH got me for x-mas worked!! He took it back and I can’t find another one like I want. I’m gonna run to Best Buy at lunch today and see what they’ve got. Good job on the water yesterday!!

BETH – So glad you decided to come over with us! I’m the one who emailed you yesterday!! I’ll send you a reply in a little while, but it looks like we are REALLY closely located!!! There are several other AL girls here as well. BUSDEB (who hasn’t posted in a couple of weeks) lives just north of B-ham, Fillise is in Auburn and there may be another that I’m not remembering right now! Anyway, WELCOME, this is a WONDERFUL SUPPORT GROUP!!!

Sef – are you better yet?? Been thinkin about you!

Rhoo – hang in there girl – looks like your starting to climb out of that funk!!

Quilter – Your posts always put a smile on my face – Thank you!!

Zanne – Hope you get to feeling better very soon!

Rosalie – good info on the calcium. I try to take a supplement daily, but I can’t take it anytime around my thyroid meds because it effects how it absorbs or something, anyway, there is a reason and a lot of days I tend to forget it! That’s all the more reason to remember!

Gotta run,

Hey All

Dentist was a blast! At least I walked out of there without having news of having cavaties

Stopped at TJMAXX just to look around. Decided to try on some pants, not any I would buy, just to see how they looked on me-took in 3 pairs of size 6 pants, 2 BILL BLASS jean type pants and one other brand, cotton-all three were TOO BIG. Didn't both going back to try on size 4's, was too lazy to take my pants off again

HAPPY, CONGRATS on the 2lb loss. When are you weighing in? You can bet as long as you stay with us, you're bound to meet up with some of the board members! If there's any way for you to get together with us on that Saturday in March, even for just a little bit, you'd love it! It's always a blast to meet people on the board. Is there any way you can get up a wee bit earlier and get some of your exercise in. If I don't get it done in the morning, I know 95% that I won't do it at night-something is always bound to come up or happen. Enjoy your pedicure-I love them! Don't ever get them, but love them! BUT, I have to admit, Eli sure does give great foot rubs!!!!

ROSALIE, how long does it take to play one typical game of badminton-seems you really got in a workout! I'll tell Michael you sent him congrats-definitely proud! Hmmm, will have to let you know what I need from up there-any good chocolate that you know of that's SB LEGAL besides Lindt? Eli brought me home a bar last year, haven't opened it yet, but it was really high in cocoa content, 80%, maybe I should open it up and see if it's any good. Any of those brands on that website I sent you available?? Thanks for posting that article about calcium. I saw one in BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS as well as PREVENTION. Don't have the BH but do have the Prev. and it says that studies with low-fat dairy can actually help boost weight loss.

HAM, CONGRATULATIONS! You did awesome! Doesn't it feel great to have the power over food, not the other way around?!? Hey, maybe you and the other Bama gals can have a get together one day soon!!!

NASCAR, CARBOLITE is a low-carb soft serve "ice cream" that I found about a year or so ago. It's delicious-but not easy to find. If you know of a low-carb type of store in your area, they may have it. Carbolite has other products, none that I think I've really tried, but the ice cream is wonderful, though it does have Splenda in it, which seems to do a number on me when I eat it too often. Congrats on being down a pound from last week!!!

QUILTER, seem you got rid of that pesky headache you had-ain't in the pits when you get one of those-I had to go lie down yesterday, and I had it until I passed out for the night-must be hormonal! Enjoy your book club!!

RHROO, hope they all bring home good report cards-kids are off tomorrow down here (no school last Monday, no school tomorrow, 3 day week-are they lucky, or what!). So, did you get a workout in the new workout wear???

ZANNE, glad you liked the SMOOTHIE RECIPE! You can use unsweetened cocoa, or even carob powder, which is what I use when I make one of my "milk shakes".

FILLISE, and a hello to you too! Makes me feel good to see your post, even if it's just a quickie-means you're thinking about us

TV, I wish I had some pictures like that, but when I look at my pictures when I was a kid, they're all of a fat little girl (ask the gals who came to the get together in Orlando-had pictures with me). Funny how we now wish we knew then what we know now-hmmm, how some of us wish we could still look like we did back then, though I'm not one of them. BUT, I sure wish I could of just stayed the weight I was in 6th grade for all my life-things sure would of been swell!

Okay, gotta go, have a few things to do before I p/u the kids from school

See you tonight!

Just a quick note to wish everyone a great day and to tell you that I ate way too much starchy food yesterday. Here is my day:

Breakfast: One slice of spinach quiche and one slice of ww toast
Snack: 4 triscuits and 1 tlbs of cream chees
Lunch: One serving of baked spaghetti
Snack: 1 oz of peanuts
Dinner: One serving of baked spaghetti and 4 triscuits
Snack: One grapefruit

I didn't even have any veggies except what was in the quiche. Bad, Bad day.

Today so far:

Breakfast: 2 grapefruits (I know, I'm a pig)
Snack: 1/4 c of LF cottage cheese
Lunch: 1 ground round pattie on 1 slice of ww bread

Well, I ready to be critiqued (spelling)

Till Later,

Well today I'm doing better I think. I've resisted the birthday Cake and all the Keebler goodies that are in my house... (that's $15,000.00 worth of carbohydrates in that truck in my driveway ladies... talk about temptation!!! Not to mention.. Kelloggs owns Keebler now, so the truck not only has EL Fudge and all the other Keebler goodies... it has Nutri Grain bars and RICE KRISPY TREATS on it... You have nooooooooo idea how hard it is at my house to stay away!!!)
Today so far:
Breakfast - 1 egg with cheddar and some leftover chunks of chicken I made for dinner
Snack - 1 orange, and a handful of peanuts
Lunch - Leftover chicken with scrambled eggs

Tonight we're having pork stir fry without the rice for me.

Ugh this is soooooo hard... I want to snack all the time, but all the stuff I have is high fat.. I need to get some fresh veggies!!! Payday where are youuuuuuuuuu? LOL!!

TV Thanks for tuning me in to the board! You're right, it's a much closer group of people I think! Also I believe we're only about 5-10 miles apart... we'll have to do "legal" lunch one day!!! I'd love a buddy to SB with that's local!!!!!!

Default Thursday

Another "unexpected" and unpaid vacation day! Used the time to do laundry, more laundry, more laundry. How can 3 people create so much laundry? I think I'm the culprit with all these disgusting workout clothes. Then had tennis this afternoon and kind of snoozed thru 4 sets. Can't seem to get my a$% IN GEAR. But I did create more dirty clothes!

I really need to find a new job, but this one is just so darn convenient when there is enough work to do. I just walk across the street. Can't get a better commute.

Welcome Stacey and Beth- you've found a great place.

Quilter-Hope your head is better. I want instant gratification too. I can't believe I've actually stuck to this for 6 months ( just realized it's 6 months today!). I know it takes time but I still stand in front of the scale/mirror and moan about how much there still is to do rather than focussing on the progress made.

Deb- WOW you are tiny! I can't imaging these ole bones ever fitting into a size 4. Course I couldn't imagine ever fitting into an 8 either, and they go on quite nicely now. But I still have to stop and think at the store, or I head for the XL's and size 14-16's. I guess it takes a while to re-orient. Emotionally, I'm still fat. Glad your dentist appt. went well. Mine's in 2 weeks.

TV- Hair sounds fun! I got mine cut REALLY short again yesterday and also keep wondering who the woman in the mirror is! Classy sounds good to me

Beth- You keep those little elves in YOUR driveway please. I have enough trouble with girls scouts knocking on the door these days! Really, that must be tough.

Zanne- The protein supplement I have is GNC "PRo-Performance Egg & Whey Protein". Ingredients are: whey protein concentrate, egg albumen, ion exchange whey protein isolate, crystaline fructose, and vanilla. Total sugar per serving is 3 gr. It is sweetened with stevia (a leaf derivative). I think it should be alright for you. I chose it over other cheaper ones because it didn't have a long list of unpronouncable chemicals and no maltodextrin or aspertame. I know the crystalline fructose is just sugar, but its real low on the ingredients list. I just find eating 6 meals of real food, especially that much protein fodd, is impossible. Good luck!

Hello to everyone else-VIV, BUSDEB where are you?

Oh-gotta go, school bus deposited ds, time for the homework arguments to begin! Waiting NOT patiently for self-motivation to kick in!

Question RICE/PASTA/BREAD Question...

OK... Color me thick headed (along with everywhere else )

Rice: I can have brown rice as long as it isn't instant? Which means if I buy it in a bag.. and it's brown.. I can have it? Also is balsmati (*sp?) a brown rice, or a different animal altogether? What do I need to look for on the rice bag itself to determine legal?

Pasta: I can have whole wheat? Or is there a *Specific* phrasing I should look for? These labels have me CONFUZZLED!!! What EXACTLY should my pasta say to be legal... and what should it NOT say!

Bread: I found some SGWW bread... and I read the ingredients and it has High Fructose Corn Syrup and Molasses... surely that ain't legal!! Again... EXACTLY what words do I look for?

I'm sorry if I've made this harder than it should be... but I'm label ignorant (I'm working on it) and I just need to be able to go to the store and KNOW I'm getting something legal without worrying myself half to death and letting it rot before I eat it because I'm scared I bought the wrong thing.

Or if someone can give me some great BRAND NAMES of what I can buy... I'd be forever grateful. I'm new, and I'm learning... but I'm starting to get tempted by things I shouldn't have because I'm too confused to buy the things I CAN have.... HELPPPPP PLease

HiedieHo All!!!

By the time I ead the posts I have to stop sitting. I'm using a bedpillow on chair but still not what you would call comfortable. I am getting better and can feel a big difference. I soon will be able to be back doing what I like best, writing!!!!!

Glad to see some newcomers, WELCOME!!!! You old timers I'm thinking of you too!!!

A question for the exercisers out there. If I did too much straining on the ab machine and back machine at the gym, could that cause my hemorrhoid problem? Don't mean to gross anyone out!!!!! I got them right after the exercise day. I had no other change in habits or any constipation. They started me out with 50# weight, it did not seem all that hard. Hopefully Monday I'll be able to start again. My first day was my last, last week!!!

Takeke care Shirley.

P.S. Remember, I'm lurking!!!!!

Default I'm Back!

Hi ALL!! I have survived the week. At some points during this past week, I WAS doubtful that I'd make it till today. We have been sooooooo busy. It's been a mad-house. No lunch breaks, had to force myself to stop & take much needed BR breaks. Too heavy of a patient load for one person. But Thank the Lord I made it. I'm off till next week & I'm praying that they don't call me in to work before then.

OK, enough complaining. Sorry, just needed to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening. Maybe now I can kind of catch up with what's going on here on the board.

I see quiet a few new faces. Welcome all you newbees!! Couldn't have found a better home. Hope to get to know each of you.

Thanks everyone for all the greetings & the congrats for reach my goal. I'm afraid my glory was brief, cause I'm up a lb, but not fretting cause I'm still on a mission & plan to get below my goal to get a buffer zone. Someone (maybe Rhoo? Hi Rhoo! ) suggested a before & after pic. I'm hoping to do exactly that this week end. I have one (a before) hidden in the closet.

I haven't read much of the board except those posted to me after my last post, but did notice something being said about a get-together in March? And something last week about NC in Oct?? Fill me in please?

Beth, I just read your post full of questions. Trust me, we all had questions about all those things in the beginning of our journey too. I'll try to answer some of those.
Rice: I've never used the balsmati but I do buy the regular brown rice. No specific brand, it's just reg. brown rice. No instant.
Pasta: Hodgson Mill products are in most stores. Ingredients 100% Durum Whole Wheat Flour. There is a SugarBusters brand too, but HM is cheaper & exactly the same as SB brand. Hodgson Mills mades allot of other good products with WW also.
Bread: Look for Stone Ground Whole Wheat Breads, NOT enriched wheat. Also, Pumpernickle bread & sour dough bread is ok I understand due to the breakdown of it.

Hope that helps you some.

Well, it's been a long day, so I'll stop here & say good night cause I'm pooped! See you'll on the board tomorrow!
