Morning everyone. I feel pretty bad today. In fact, after getting up and making breakfast and lunch for Tom, he suggested I go back to bed. I think he told me I felt like I had a fever, but I don't remember. I went back to bed and slept two more hours. I still feel bad, but not AS bad....I have a cold that seems to have settled in my chest and I am losing my voice. I have an annoying half cough. You know..one of those that you feel like you have to cough but it is not at all productive to cough. The incessant tickle kind...grr. I hate being sick!
I have no set plans today. I think I am going to probably end up having a 'mono' day...maybe I will find a good novel to read. I haven't done that in ages. I just don't feel up to much more than that.
BOB: That sucks. I am SO sorry. Is there any way to appeal that decision?
TECH: I hope your mom allows the pictures! That would be fun to see!
FRUIT: It is so good to see your post! Hey, what is the due date?
Today is a home day. I just have to do about four loads of laundry. That means up and down the stairs frequently for that, plus getting supper, letting various dogs out....wel you get the picture. It is not a day of rest!
I am going to see if this posts before I do anymore typing
I debated on coming back after dissappearing yet again, but I really missed knowing how every one was doing. I've gained so much weight in the last year and a half that I really doubt I'll be able to get back on track and actually stay on track but that is my goal. Yesterday was my first day back on SB and I had one small set back last night but so far so good today....coffee. As time permits I hope to read the board and get somewhat caught up on everybody.
Country, you're certainly NOT alone in your situation. If you remember, I had lost 60 lbs & gradually over the last 4 years I gained back EVERY ounce plus a few more lbs. I felt the same way, that I could not get back on track. I'd do well for a few days, maybe lose a few lbs then poof, I was back to bad eating habits & get so discouraged until back in Feb when a few Christian friends decided we'd start a local support group. We weighed in on March 4th & I started walking with one of my friends who lives a few miles away. We are holding each other accountable, even on days that we cannot walk together. I have lost 11 lbs from my highest weight in Feb.
The board has also helped because these are friends that we have both shared many years with & we can encourage & support each other even through our distance from each other. You can do it...you KNOW you can because you did it before! Set your mind & over-look the failures. Pick up where you left off & stick to it!
Monet, hope you feel better soon!
Missy, glad to hear the pregnancy is going so well.
Tech, enjoy your time with your mom.
Sef, I need to do laundry too but no stairs to climb here. I don't know if I could right now after my walk!
BOB, so sorry things are going so badly for you right now but keep the faith! Something will turn up when the time is right.
Rosalie, where are you??? to you & Solly, ANA, Mo & Toni!!! Did I miss anyone???
I don't know about qnyone else, but I could not get on the board last night. Now I cannot get the color and bold icons to work. I had to type it in, God forbid I do black! When I posted that little blurb a while ago it took forever to go through. It's not my computer, I've been all over the internet this a.m. with no problems.
BOB: That's terrible. Can't you appeal? If it was me I would. Mainly because any money I received would be spent on everyday expenses!! I feel so bad for you.
FRUIT: We do miss you when you are away. We like your updates. Take care. Did you tell us when you are due?
TECH: You wouldn't get any pictures of me getting my hair done! I have back spasms too. I find that sometimes alternating hot and cold helps. 20 on and 20 off of each.
MONET: I'd make myself a hot toddy and get under the covers. You have been working so hard lately and doing so much, the body can only take so much and it rebels. Listen to it and take care of yourself. I have a doozy of a toddy, definitely not SB or diabetic friendly with honey and Southern Comfort! I couldn't take it now.
COUNTRY: One nice thing about being here is that there are other poor souls who have gone through the same thing. I'm back after going off plan a couple of years ago when I evacuated for Ivan. I wouldn't be here today if not for MELF. She encouraged me to come back. It is hard to admit we've goofed, but we can do it, the alternative is to continue to be uncomfortable and maybe keep gaining. WELCOME BACK!!!!
MELF: I know if we move DS is looking for a one story, at the very least a two story with a bed and bath downstairs. My knees and hips are getting worse and some days it's a real chore to face that stairway! You are doing terrific. I have been struggling but think I am okay this week.
I think someone asked about the vertigo medication. I take Meclizine t.i.d as needed. I don't get vertigo very often, sometimes when I first get out of bed, but I sit still and it goes away. A lot of "Older" people have that reaction. But every so often it does not go away and will last two or three days. The pills help immensely.
This has taken forever, I've done a couple of loads of wash and made some cous cous with some Thanksgiving turkey stock and meat, and mixed veggies. So have made a few climbs so far today.
Will try to check in later. Did this on word pad in case I can't post.
Keep a song in your heart and good things will happen, Shirley.
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days but was feeling kind of lazy about posting. Have been busy running around looking at tiles and other stuff for my bathroom, had a couple of nights where I slept in late and then was up half the night. I made an effort to get up early on Sunday after going to bed very late. Then was busy all day and was as tired as could be the next day. I think I am back to normal again . I haven't walked the last couple of days but hope to get up on time tomorrow and get out there. This morning I had to take two of the kiddos to school as Mom was without a car and then this afternoon drove Mom to the garage to pick it up. Should be going for a game of badminton this evening. Eating hasn't been the best the last few days. Have to try and get back on track. My weight was down to 190 a few days ago, then up to 194 and down to-day to 192. I'd like to change my ticker weight but don't want to have to go back and change it again if it goes up again so will wait until it is consistently at the lower rate.
BOB - So sorry to hear your news. I hope you are able to appeal the decision.
Sef - If you can't get the color to work go to that little box in the top right corner just above the smilies. Click on one of the "A's" to change the Editor Mode and you should be able to choose your color and see it as you type. The reason your last post didn't print in color is because you put a quotation mark before the chosen color. If you get your typing to show in color and you click on the large "A" it will change to black and you can see all the codes. The reason your last post didn't print in color is because you put a quotation mark before the chosen color. Another thing I discovered by trial and error (and a lot of frustration) is that to paste something in the reply window you have to be in black and white mode. This is probably more info than you needed or wanted but it took me a while to figure it out and just wanted to share it.
Melf - I am here. The wanderer is returning. . See above for my excuses for being mia. . Thanks for thinking of me.
CountryMom - Good to see you back. Hope you will stay around. I missed you.
Monet - Sorry to hear you are not feeling well to-day. I hope you are having a lazy day.
Tech - You wouldn't get my pic posted on a bad hair day.
Fruit - Glad to hear that things are going well. It's always good to hear from you.
When I had vertigo a few years ago my doctor suggested that I take 1/2 a Gravol tablet. I believe this is only available in Canada but it is the same as Dramamine (generic name dimenhydrinate) according to my drug book This worked for me.
I was about to add this to the above post but the cursor wouldn't show so thought I had better post it before I lost it.
Just a fly by...I AM taking it easy today. James went to the grocery store for me, and I have taken two naps. I am going to make a white sauce, chicken lasagna for dinner, which should not be too difficult. I will also make a pan of regular to throw in the freezer and take with me to North Georgia on Thursday.
I am drinking a glass of Arizona Peach tea with splenda. Yum!
SEF: I fixed your color for you....
ROSALIE: Good to see you! When I had vertigo I bought some anti nausea med over the counter that was the same as the prescription the doctor gave me, just loads cheaper! I don't remember the name of it...
COUNTRY: Oh, please stay put! We MISS you when you are not posting. We all have gone back and forth, but honestly, I think I do better when I am posting then when I am not. I feel like I have some accountability, you know?
Ok, off to do dinner, then perhaps take a nap while it cooks!
Rosalie, nice to see you back on board. Sorry to hear about the dizziness. Is it something going around I wonder because I've had a few brief episodes as well. Attributed it to sinus. I know what you mean about the late nights. I've been up till all hours lately, doing different projects then I can barely drag myself out of bed in the am. LOL But my walking partner calls & wakes me up so I get up & get going! Did you know that you can go & edit your weight on your signature without redoing a new ticker?? You can!
Howdy all. Can't believe I didn't get on here yesterday. I must be losing my mind. Well I'm doing good durning the week but on the week end I don't do well. I've got to get a GRIP. Today I had to go pick up my medicine at Wal Mart and DH wanted me to stop and get him burgers at MCDonalds. Well I was starving so I got myself there new Southwestern salad. Other than a tiny bit of corn and a few skinny chips on the salad it was good. It was lots better than having the burgers. The salad comes with either crispy or grilled chicken on it and I got the grilled. I have a busy week this week. Hair cut tomorrow and need to go out of town with a friend on Thursday. So run, run. This evening I want to clean out my old water fountain and get it ready for my herbs I'm going to plant in it. I got a nice big pot for my tomato today. I can't wait to get it planted. Got my hummingbird feeder up and I can see I need another one. The little ones are really going at it. Well better go work outside a little.
Thanks MONET for fixing my color. I was surpised to see it! Couldn't figure out what happened as when I left the board the post was black/white. I knew what was wrong but although the edit box came up, it would not let me edit. If there are a lot of posts I work on word pad and then copy and paste into the message box. Have always done it and never had a problem. For some reason 3fc is not letting me to the board, the only way I can get here today is through the email notification that someone has posted. Maybe tomorrow it will work.
Glad you are getting some rest, not counting the cooking bit!
ROSALIE: Glad to see you posting. Thanks for sharing your posting hints, maybe now I won't have the frustration. Also thanks for the meds info, my insurance makes my medication about the same price as the OTC kind, so I think I will stick with it. I'm lucky my insurance has a good prescription plan.
SOLLY: We all have times we can't catch with the posts. The important thing is to let everyone know we are still here and havae not deserted the ship.
MELF: You're so computer smart! How can we change our numbers on the tape without going through the whole process? Tell us more! Tell us more!!
TONI: How good you were to get the salad and not a burger!!! You deserve a star and bragging rights!
Bitsy is talking to me, gotta let her out. Will check in later.
((Everybody)) Thank ya'll for always making me feel welcomed. The last few weeks have been crazy. I miss my grandbaby so much. Her mother, not my daughter has decided we can't see her.
On a happier note my garden is finally starting to grow. I'm not sure if the purple hulls are going to make it because they got bit really hard when we had a freak sleet storm in early April. The green beans and other peas seem to be doing fine.
I'm gonna try and read a few pages try to catch up some.
