Good Morning

Where is everyone. So with the start of the new month my computer is showing me the correct time again. I didn't want to change it when the clocks were changed as I knew the computer would be doing it automatically when it reached the old date for the time change. Now I don't have to keep looking at the clock behind me to make sure I'm aware of the right time. .

I didn't walk to-day as I had some chores to do. So I got my morning exercise with the vacuum cleaner. I think that takes up more energy than walking. I was checking out paint yesterday as I need to paint the ceiling of my balcony. I hope to get that done soon. Shouldn't take long but it's not something I like doing. I may get some help from a friend. I'd probably get it all over the windows. . Soon as that is done I can get some indoor/outdoor carpet for the balcony which should really improve the looks of it.

Sef - I can understand you being mad at the wool company when they discontinue something that you need to finish your project. How long is it since you bought the wool that you are using? Would maybe another store have it?

Monet - Sounds like you had a successful day at school.

Well folks I have to go and fix lunch as I am going to play badminton this afternoon. Later if there is time I may go to Sears to look at some bathroom cabinets. I would like to replace both the sink, faucets and cabinets in one of my bathrooms. The family br was redone before I moved in here but the ensuite br is a bit yucky so would like to fix it.

Hi all,

Don't know why I say all........all of you haven't been here, altho MONET checked in.

Went to church this morning, the Youth Group had a luncheon to earn money to go to GA. They had a basket at the buffet for donations. They had chicken, baked potao and green beans, and scads of luscious looking desserts. I did not touch them.

Went in the pool yesterday, first time this season. Water was nice and cool, like swimming in a spring fed pond. Loved it!

ROSALIE: I bought the yarn about four months ago. I did check other stores and online but couldn't find it. The purple that they have is too bright, I want muted tones. I matched the orchid against some leftover yarns I have, it looks good with the Soft White, so tomorrow I will get that. I'm not taking a chance I'm buying what I need all at once. Sounds like you're going to be in the home improvement mode for a while.

Sort of a hurting day. Going to go put my feet up.

May good things happen, Shirley

Sef - Sorry to hear you are hurting to-day. Is it arthritis? Have you heard of the gin-soaked rasisin remedy for arthritis? I saw this in a booklet recently and I know a couple of people who tried it and they say that it worked for them. What you do is take 1lb golden raisins, place them in a glass bowl(not crystal) and cover them with about 1 pint of gin. You are supposed to leave them like that until all the gin is absorbed by the raisins - should take 5-7 days. When all the gin is absorbed transfer the raisins to a glass jar and put the lid on. Do not refrigerate. Now this little booklet was an advertisment for this and lots of other stuff. Of course they want you to buy the book to find out how many and how often to take them. But the two people who said it worked for them took a couple of teaspoons twice a day. They say there is less than one drop of gin left in the raisins so you can't get drunk on them.

Couldn't resist passing it on in case it can help someone.

Good evening,

Just looking in to see if anything is happening.

THUNDER: We all love our kids, but being trapped in the house with a scratching child was not my idea of fun. It always lasted a while; Kevin would get whatever was going through school and bring it home to Elaine. It was one after the other. The only good thing was by the time Elaine went to school she'd had everything and I didn't have to go through it all again. Of course, they were perfect angels when they were sick....lol

ROSALIE: Let's see, I like raisins, I like gin drinks, hmmmmm a nice combination! I had forgotten about that remedy. It's been around a long time. I did try it years ago and it didn't do anything for me, except make me like raisins more!!!

Hope all is well with our MIAs.

May good things happen, Shirley

Good Morning

The scale was a little kinder to me this morning. I'm down about 1 1/2 lbs but won't be changing my sticker yet. Just have to wait and see if it stays. I went for my walk this morning and did 5 laps which is about 3 miles. I seemed to have more energy this morning. I'm glad I got in the extra lap as I won't be going to badminton this morning as I have to go to hairdresser to get my hair cut. It's been driving me nuts the last week or so. After that I am going out to lunch with some of my old work buddies. We are going to Jack Astor's. Not sure what kind of food they have but hope I can stay on track.

Thunder - Hope your dd is over the chicken pox soon. When my kids had it they had it together with the next door neighbour kids which worked out fine as they could still visit back and forth and play together. I didn't have it as a child but got it when I was 21.

Have a good day everyone.

I faced down the enemy and won! MM was down 4#!!! Couldn't believe it!

We go to entertain this morning. We are doing a few spring songs as well as others. Oops I just remembered! I didn't sort out my music, will have to get busy.

ROSALIE: So glad about your loss. You must have been kind to yourself.

Bitsy had a little adventure yesterday. She was in the yard doing her thing when all of a sudden she had this burst of energy. She was running back and forth like crazy. Then I realized why, she was chasing a squirrel. It ran in and out of the lilies and then dove into the pool! I wish I had my camera. It was so cute, swam to the side of the pool and Bitsy leaned over the edge and they were touching noses as if saying "Are you alright?" It started to struggle to get out and couldn't so I called Kevin. He got the skimmer and was about to rescue the squirrel when it gave a mighty heave and launched itself out. It ran for the lilies with Bitsy right behind and ran up the fence. End of story. NOw everytime Bitsy goes out she checks the lilies!

Gotta go. Hope MM was good to all.

May good things happen, they did for me, Shirley

Good morning.

Looks like Sef and Rosalie are the board.

Thunder, glad the chicken pox are almost finished. I know you and Danielle are both excited about it.

Rosalie, congrats on the loss. With all that walking, it will stick.

Sef, the whole time I was reading the "remedy" that Rosalie posted I was thinking the same thing as you. Probably won't help but I bet those raisens are good. Hope you are feeling better soon. Arther can be such a mean guy.

We finished our floors Sat. They look beautiful. The rooms look so much larger. I spent the beautiful weekend indoors washing walls and woodwork and everything in the house. I have never seen so much dirt and dust.
We just have a few little things to finish up. I can't beleive Easter is Sunday. I am not ready, but I guess I will be.

Got to get busy here. Have a great day.

During the past month I have lost over 6 lbs & 13.5 inches, walking 2 miles/day X 5 days/wk. It's paying off.

I'm only home for a little while. I'll be going back to the hospital. We had to bring Mom to the ER late yesterday evening when her blood sugar dropped down to 29 & she was unresponsive. Sugar came back up with the Dextrose but she was still not responding as she should so they did a CT which was negative. I ran home to get a few things & went back for the night.

Mom had a good night & is responding so much better this morning. She drank some water with me, found my ring & tried to pull it off my finger, which she had not done in a long time, & gave us several smiles this morning. The doctor came in & he will adjust her insulin as well as change the kind that she is getting. Because Mom has lost weight, has had a decrease in appetite & is not very active anymore, all of that could have contributed to the drop in her sugar. She also has a bladder/kidney infection & they have started IV antibiotics for that. She will stay overnight again just so they can monitor her sugar & observe her & then she should be able to return to the NH tomorrow.

For those that don't remember, Mom has Alzhemier's Disease & it has really progressed over the past year. She is non-verbal now & doesn't seem to be very expressive most of the time, so the smiles this morning have really blessed my heart.

Got to go. Will be back when I can.

Hello everyone! I woke up at four, and finally gave up and got up at five. I headed down to the gargio and worked. I finished up a teapot, threw a few covered jars, and turned the kiln on. It has fired off, and I need to go cover the jars and lids until I can get to them.

The big news is, TOM GOT A JOB!! He will be doing contract work for Verizon. It will be great experience, and the recruiting company handles all the paperwork and offers insurance, so we are covered. He will start end of this week, or Monday. The best part is that HE is excited about it. He thinks he is going to enjoy the job, and that is what I have been praying for.

MELF: How scary that your mom's bg was so low. I am glad they are re-evaluating her meds. I am sure it is a hard situation, and I am glad you had some smiles this morning to bless you. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers.

SEF: Yay on the loss! Poor little squirrel! My cats will often chase small rodents into the pool, and then run around the side trying to snag them out of the water! I was water jogging once, and noticed a dead squirrel on the bottom of the deep end. Yuck! I made Tom fish it out...rodent removal is a man's job, don't you think?

SOLLY: The floors sound beautiful! I bet you could see more dust and dirt if you came to my house! How is work? I still need to pack up your pot and get it mailed! I am sorry I have not gotten that done yet.

ROSALIE: WTG on the walking! I was about to head out when Tom got in from his interview. I need to quit making excuses! I really NEED to be out there six days a week for at least 30 minutes a time.

THUNDER: I am glad Danielle is getting over the 'pops'. I got them when I was in eighth grade, so I remember it very clearly! My son got them in seventh grade, and his were SO bad...he had them everywhere. He would sit down and they would just pop on his bum and back...poor thing! What a miserable disease!

MMM was not too bad...I was down four from what I was last week, but last week I was up five...SO....

Howdy all... I love a new board. We went grocery shopping today and I'm really tired but just wanted to check in. Need to go start dinner and I can't think of anything to have. We had a roast deli chicken for lunch. Maybe I can make something out of the leftovers. Its 82 out today but after Wed. we're getting a cold front. I did pick up some herbs at Wal Mart to plant but will wait a bit to see what the weathers going to do. I got basil, rosemary and thyme. I still want some more. Have to run....

Good evening,

Was busy today, JN (joyful Noise) entertained, then we went to Shoney's for linch, and I went to Hobby Lobby to get yarn. I actually had to go through the yarn to get all that matched. So much for No Dye Lot yarn. I think Red Heart has lowered it's standards.

I was tired when I got home. Let Bitsy out and then propped up my legs and had a short nap. Fixed supper and then went out in the pool for a while. Water is still cool, but I love it.

SOLLY: I remember when they replaced the floors downstairs after Katrina that there was a real mess. They did all the cutting outside yet it was still dusty. It did make things look larger. Kevin wants to do upstairs next. The older we get the faster time goes! When we were kids we thought Christmas, Easter or whatever we were looking forward would never come. Now that I'm older I wonder how the events got here so quickly.

MELF: Glad you are seeing results from your walking and following woe. Sorry to hear about your Mother. A smile is a blessing and you should enjoy it. Will keep her and you in my prayers.

MONET: Hooray for Tom! It must be a relief. You are always so busy. I admire your talent and the patience it takes. I know how frustrating it can be when something doesn't come out right and you have to smash it and start over. You did notice that I called Kevin when the squirrel went in the pool. I figured it was a job for him. We were surprised when it managed to get itself out.

TONI: Nice you stopped by to say Hi. Sometimes those meals we can't think of what to have turn out pretty good. Hope yours did.

Time for Jeopardy. Will try to check in later.

May good things happen, Shirley

Wish I felt as UP as the guys above...I've gotten myself into a funk...trying hard to pull myself out of it. I've been having some problems with the buldging discs that I have...Going to the DOC on Thursday afternoon. Can't get a shot because I HAVE NO INSURANCE!!! Hope that will change soon.

MONET...CONGRATS TO TOM!!!!!! Could it be that I'll be next????

TONI...What did y'all buy good to eat at the grocery? I found some of the best lump crab cakes the other day...10 for $10...they are very lightly dusted with crumbs...you put them in the oven or the nuke box...THEY ARE WONDERFUL!!

THUNDER...Glad alls getting better at your house...is HUBBY still home?

SEF...I love Shoney's...we don't have one anywhere near here anymore.

MARY...I've got your MOM in my thoughts and prayers...let us know how it goes.

JACKIE...Did you end up getting the real wood for your floors? Are you gonna make everyone take off their shoes when they get there Sunday?

ROSALIE...I sure wish I lived near you...I love to walk, but not alone...TIPPY is good company, but her little legs are so short we never get anywhere!

Haven't heard from MISSY....did hear from SUSAN...she's doing really good and has gotten herself a new KITTY!!! Her name is MISS FINCH...Her MOM is doing well with her chemo. Susan is busy as ever, but maybe we can get her to pop in.

Good morning! I need to get dressed and head out to Costco soon. Then I am going to run over to the ceramic supply store and pick up a few things I need to take up to North Georgia on Thursday. Kaeleb is rolling around on my floor. He is all into 'go' right now. He is trying to figure out crawling, though he seems more interested in walking. He maneuvers himself around by pivoting on his tummy. So cute! He is such a good natured little guy...

Tom heads out to fill out paperwork for the new job in just a bit. The new insurance starts on May 1, and the old stuff ends on April 30. Nice.

BOB: I hope you are next! Any news on your job search? I wish I lived in Florida near you! I would come drag your behind out for a walk with me daily!

SEF: I need to hit Hobby Lobby. I want to see if they have battery operated clock movements, and try and make a ceramic clock. I can order them online, but I don't want to do that until I try one and see if I like making them. I LOVE their yarn department. Their Yarn Bee brand is pretty good. Some of the eyelash yarns they make are awesome...so soft and fuzzy when knitted up. Feels like bunny fur!

TONI: Next time you have deli roast chicken left over, try a salad with roasted chicken on it. Yum! I have used it in soups, and rolled it into tortillas too. I have a sage plant that is a perennial, and is getting huge. Love it. My parsley also wintered over, so I am in good shape. I do need to go get some basil...and I want a Thai basil plant too.

My bg was AWFUL this morning. I am rather discouraged about trying to keep it in range. I am so mad at the stupid doctor! I was doing SO well until he decided my thyroid meds needed adjusting down. Now I am having a terrible time getting back to where I was, my weight is up, my energy is way down, and I am getting really discouraged. Sorry for the vent... Tom's new insurance is different..and I could go back to my old doctor. I may do that...though I HATE his office with a passion.
