Hey Chicks! My Patient is in the shower. I just woke up from a short nap. I'm so exhuasted. I don't know what's wrong with me but I didn't want to wake up even now. I guess it's just mental stress or something.

Baby Sarah was born around 9:30 this morning. She is 4 pounds 5 ounces and 18 inches long. My Niece told me that Sarah is not considered a preemie. I don't get that part since I thought preemie just meant early....and she was. My understanding is that both Mamma and baby are doing well. Mamma called me around 1:00 and it sure did feel good to hear her voice. She really wasn't completely out of the anesthesia yet....she was still slurring a bit and told me that she keeps falling asleep in everyone's faces! She definitely had a C section. They tried to go natural but the baby was in distress. Evidently, my Niece is now out of the woods since delivery is the cure. What a relief!

Jim is still feeling crummy. He's had can of soup and tried to eat some noodles but gave up after a while. He did eat all of the broth. I tried to tell him that I should just make him broth but he wanted the soup. What do I care? It didn't bother me to throw away what he couldn't eat. I spoke to his Doctor this afternoon and he doesn't go for follow up until May 9th. We'll have to call with some questions we have but for now he must just concentrate on healing.

I'm trying not to eat anything here that would make him feel bad. I'll be having Farina and FF cottage cheese and peaches for dinner/snack. Not very appealing for me but a sacrifice that I'm willing to make.

Thanks, Patti!

Sandra, good for you for getting outside and getting to work. I just have to tie up two clematis bushes and I'm procrastinating about just that little bit! Good luck with weigh in tomorrow. I cannot believe that it's Friday already.

Kathy, I'm glad your disability person is being realistic. I'd be surprised if you get back to work before the fourth of July. I'm with you in the TV remote department. I can handle the computer great but the TV/VCR/DVR baffle me. Jim and I joked that if he had to be admitted that I wouldn't be able to watch the new TV! I keep begging him to write it all down. He claims that he doesn't know it that well himself. Harumpf.

Frouf, I'm glad you are moved and nearly ready for Toronto. I looked at that gadget but, frankly, it made me nervous just to read the description. I couldn't even figure out what it would combine! Sheesh. 30 years of government service and a pretty intelligent brain but no go!

Ok...the patient is out of the shower. I have to go. Ruth, I'll go check my book real quick for the grits answer. I think you can have unlimited servings just like cornmeal.

Ruth, the week one book says ww pasta, brown rice, and potatoes are limited to one meal a day. Grits are not specifically listed as ok for multiple meal consumption but it makes sense to me that they are grain like cornmeal (which is specifically listed). I say have grits at all meals if you like. Good luck!

I'm off to make Jim and me a chocolate frosty smoothie. I probably won't be back until tomorrow morning.

Have a great evening!

Hey, there! I'm glad you got a little rest and hope Jim did too. It sounds like he's trying to eat -- I'm sure he's starving after having to fast and then not being able to chew or swallow very easily.

Judd just called and is on his way home. He's stopping at the store first for a few things, and then is going out tonight with the Air Force pilots. I think they're going downtown Fort Worth (Sundance Square) and for the first time in a LONG time, I'm not worried about it. Since he's not drinking, it won't be a very late or expensive night. I'll just continue to lie here and watch TV. I slept from noon until around 3:00, which is somewhat of an improvement. At least I held out that long! Hopefully when I go back to work, they'll understand that I'm now a "napper" and will let me sleep whenever I want! Ha!!

Maybe you could ask for the nap as a "reasonable accommodation" for your disability!

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I will make sure I mention it.

Have a good evening with your patient. I'm glad that your Niece and the baby are both doing well.

I think you're right about her. I thought Ace had done well this week but past weeks weren't so good. It's getting harder and harder every week.

Sara, welcome to our world. I think that birth is the most amazing thing, and to see and hold a newborn is oh so special. Vickie, I hope that you are able to hold Sara in your arms real soon.

We went to a small town (Merrickville) about 3:30 and walked around for a couple of hours. Then we had dinner there. It is just a fantastic day and not typical of April in Ottawa. Tomorrow is suppose to be good too, so we'll be out and about again. Bernie works Saturday and Sunday.

Sandra, glad you were able to prune your bushes. I've seen a lot of dafodils and tulips around here. Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure it will be a positive experience.

Frouf, I guess you're packed by now. Have a good weekend, and good luck to dd. Are you in the new office on Monday?

Kathy, there was a store in Merrickville called Katco. I thought of you. It would be a good name for you ebay business.

Okay, lots of phone calls to be made,

Judd just bought me a camera. I like to let him do those sorts of things so I don't have to hear about it forever. I think it's like yours, Saundra.

I am literally EXHAUSTED - such a wuss! So what if I packed up 5 bins full of file folders and binders - and hauled stuff back and forth from one building to another? I guess is was all that FURNITURE MOVING that did it? Yes it turns out I did not really like the configuration of my office furniture - kinda had my right side/back to the door - which I really dislke - you know - when people come up behind you?

So I noticed my furniture was all modular (unlike the cubicle stuff which is attached to the walls - so here I go starting to move this and that - luckily the filing cabinet is still empty - I moved everything across the room so my door/entrance is on my left and I am kitty corner almost facing it (with my computer table in the corner). Everything fit just fine - except now I have these two overhead bins hanging over nothing! (cuz I moved the long desk/table below them). The very nice moving coordinator came in and said he would try and move them but depends on what is behind (the very flimsy panelled) wall. Not a big deal in the end. I also have a nice small round table and visitors' chair (which my friend Jeanne plans on stealing for her office cuz it matches her desk chair! ).

It is looking very homey as my certificates are there, along with my bunny calendar and my stuffed bears, cruise trophy, kids pics and bunny stuff. Even have my cream in the fridge!

My back does hurt a bit as I may have overdone it with the hauling around of furniture by myself - I suppose I could have asked for help but us froufs like to be independent.

Move was already started around 3:30 pm - everyone reports to new location tomorrow - I of course won't be there til tuesday - hope nothing bad happens to my office in the interim.

I came home dragging my little feet and thought how stupid of me not to have packed last night! Oh well - hauled up the luggages - and decided not to cram everything together - so now we have one small rolling suitcase for dd's dance things (yes I know despite the dire warnings of RUINING THE COSTUMES if they are not in garment bags - hope we don't get arrested!). i folded the two of them in tissue paper - and it's in the suitcase along with the pink makeup case, tap shoes, rhinestone covered bowler hat, special bra, 2 pairs of jazz sandals, black tights, bling bling stuff, washcloth, dance school tank top, tissues, deck of cards - and I sure hope we have not forgotten anything. Then another medium size rolling suitcase with dd's clothes and a rolling duffle bag with mine - did not know what to pack? Mostly casual stuff but I packed one pair of dressy/silky black pants, heeled shoes (mostly planning to wear my runners), slinky cardigan and tank in case we go out somewhere nice?

That exhausted me so I will pack the makeup, jewellery, hair stuff tomorrow - too tired to think.

Saundra - I have not been to merrickville in years - so much fun and very quaint place to visit - must try and get that on my list of things to do. You are working with the weather - supposed to be lovely again tomorrow then rain for the weekend!

Vickie - a special welcome to baby Sarah - glad things went well - I always thought a preemie was defined as under 5 lbs? but I guess that might be wrong nowadays? Sounds like your patient is doing better - definitely get some of those milkshakes into him as well as puddings and yogurts! I can imagine you are tired due to all the emotional stress - glad you can rest if you need too.

Sandra - have fun tonight at the archery knights of the round table Good luck with WI - but I know you will get fabulous results!

kathy - your camera looks very spiffy - I'm sure it will take fantastic pics of your creative talents!

Gf from Toronto just called - trying to sync up our plans for sat - having dinner together friday night (outback?) Supposed to be raining all weekend which is NOT GOOD!

dh just called now too - he is jamming at a russian bar downtown right now! sounds like he's having fun - told him I am about to drug myself (due to oncoming back pain) so please not to call me later (as he usually does on his way home) or wake me up!

House is a pigsty - but cleaning lady coming tomorrow and frankly I am just leaving the mess for the 'men' to work on - no time for me to go from room to room picking things up!

While I will try to eat properly in TO I know I will be eating out alot so it might be hard? I have decided that once I am back to work on Tuesday it would be a great time to make a fresh start in my new environment!

Nitey nite!

Frouf

Hey chicks. This morning I am in a lot of pain. I will spare you the details, but let's just say it's leftover from my stomach flu. My body is not happy in the slightest. I'm in pain whenever I move, well, it hurts when I don't move too but the worst is when I stand up/sit down. I may not be able to stay at work all day.

I'm really behind but I just wanted to say congrats to Vickie and her family on the arrival of Sarah.

Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear that you're not up to par. I think an extra long weekend is in order. Are you over-preparing for the move?

I went to Curves for the first time this morning since February 8th. It wasn't too bad. There's only one machine that I don't dare try. I'm glad to be back on track.

Vickie, how's Sarah doing? I do hope that Jim had a good night and is able to get some soft food in him.

Kathy, are you sleeping? Hope things are okay at your end.

Sandra, can't wait for the results. Guess you've left already.

Bernie is off the week of May 14th. We have to be in southern Ontario by the 19th and were looking into somewhere to go before that. The flights (Ottawa Boston) are outrageous. We want a place with action, but Toronto doesn't appeal to us. We'd also love to try Chicago, but again those darn air fares. So, we might do the Niagra area, which will be pretty quiet.

Okay, off to shower and change for afternoon out,

Hi Chicks! I'm really busy but wanted to pop in and say hi. Jim's throat is still wickedly sore and his tongue is swollen. I'm feeding him popsicles and icees to try to take the swelling down. He's still doing broth, pudding, and not much noodles. Last night he ate wedding soup and that seemed to help. I'm going back to the store in a little while to see if another brand wedding soup exists that doesn't have so much spinach in it. The Campbell's had a lot and he isn't fond of it.

I hope to go see Sarah tomorrow. My Niece will be in until Sunday and lots of people will be there today (including her daughter whose birthday it is today). Sarah is now being considered a preemie and probably will not be coming home on Sunday. She's not retaining her body heat and isn't sucking too good yet. I guess they learn to suck their thumbs in the last month inutero, which she was unable to get. Everything else is great.

Time for me to feed Jim and go to the store.

Hope you are all well.

Thanks for your help. I'm not eating bread, potatoes, rice, noodles, etc. I thought grits would be a good filler for in the evening when I start to get a little hungry. Grits for a snack. Go figure
