Hi Vickie,

Boy my symptoms sure sound a LOT like yours! How incredible!!!

Of course I am now doing some internet research on hiatus hernia and most of the symptoms involve indigestion and heartburn (due to stomach acid - e.g. eosophagul reflux) - but these don't seem to be what is bothering me...more like the ache/discomfort you referred to?

Sounds like a hernia is not serious and very few would require surgery. If this continues I guess I can ask dr for a proper diagnosis (sounds like a upper gi/barium x-ray is required - did you have this done?). Of course obesity is one of the causes - go figure!

Afternoon ladies!
We have had a full day already. We got done at church earlier than usual, came home and made lunch, and then went driving around looking at houses. That was fun. We have one that we are eye-balling now. It is gas heat, which we were really against at first, but now after talking to some people we are realizing it might not be as expensive as we thought. It is cute, looks like it has been somewhat neglected and is vacant right now. So we're going to go look at it, hopefully soon.

Vickie, your burger sounds really good. We forced ourselves to come home for lunch instead of going out, because we couldn't think of anything healthy to eat out.

Frouf, I'm so sorry that you are having pain. I hope that it is nothing serious. Don't work too hard today!!

Saundra, I hope that you enjoy your afternoon!

Sandra, I can't imagine you on a walker. You are too active for that. Hopefully it won't take too long for you to recover.

Well I need to get off of here and do some stuff around the house. Have a good afternoon everyone!

Frouf, I had no acid reflux or heartburn at all. I didn't have the barium upper GI because he wanted to check for h pylori. The only way that can be done is with the endoscopy (camera down my throat). That was traumatic before I had it done! You guys didn't know me then but I was scared like I always get. I'm sorry I worried because the twilight drugs were so awesome. I went to sleep and knew nothing! As a matter of fact, my Gastro Dr. and I laughed about it when I asked him if he was giving me the same good drugs for the colonoscopy as he gave me for the endoscopy. When he said yes, I was much relieved (no pun intended!). I hope that's not what you have but it sure does sound the same. I take my Prevacid every day and I have no symptoms. The only time it flared up is when the Gastro Doctor gave me some anti-spasmodic medicine to try to relieve my current problems and it bothered the hiatal hernia. He said sometimes anti-spasmodic stuff can make spasms. Go figure. Anyway......I knew about the obesity thing. I guess I keep hoping I'll get to my goal someday and be able to stop taking the Prevacid and the Norvasc.

Melissa, wooo hooo! Another house to look at. We have forced air gas heat. It's really the only thing people have here in Chicago. It was a trifle expensive this year but not outrageously so. We just go on the budget plan where we pay the same amount year round so that there are no staggeringly high payments to surprise us in the winter. I think we pay about $107 a month. I'm really proud of you guys for coming home for lunch. I'm cooking dinner tonight but we'll be eating out for lunch and dinner tomorrow.

I love to eat out and refuse to give it up. I just force myself to order healthy and pray that they prepare it the way that I ask for it. Tomorrow I have weigh in, lunch with my Sister and BIL if my Sister doesn't work or alone if she does, errands, out for dinner, and then babysitting from 6-9:30 pm while my Niece goes to her first Lamaze class. Big day!

I'll be back. I'm shopping now for clothes for Jim to wear while he is recuperating.

Frouf, that was a GREAT website. Thanks so much for sharing. I read about IBS and I'm thinking that's what the Gastro thinks I have. Stress, lack of exercise, raw veggies and artificial sweeteners are culprits. Amazing this all started back in October when I stopped exercising because of my heel. I always ate a lot of sweeteners but maybe I could get away with it because I was exercising. The body is such a complex thing.

I hope you feel better soon. If it's what I had, it was chronic, constant and very annoying.

vickie, my podiatrist is doing my surgery. i had a bunionectomy (sp?) several years ago down in texas. i was on a walker that time. i'm sure i will use a walker this time, too. crutches sound painful, don't they?

saundra, sounds like you had a good day yesterday. is your back better now? yes, i am having surgery as an outpatient. i am so ready to get this done and over with.

patti, i wish you and dh the best.

frouf, it's warmer here, too. looks like spring. i am like vickie and assumed you were a taller froufy. i'm 5'2" and am vertically (as well as horizontally) challenged.

I posted a big ol' note earlier and I've come back to find it MISSING!! Isn't that just darn frustrating!!!! I can't even remember what I posted about.

Oh well.

I'm 5' 8"....I am the tall one I guess? The funny part is that I haven't grown much since about 5th grade.

Our little family just got back from a brisk walk. It has turned out to be quite a nice day after all. We walked about 1.5 miles in about 30 minutes. I forgot to look at what time it was when we left, but that should be about right. It felt great!! I'm hoping the weather will continue to let us do that. If I feel ambitious I might gazelle later (no one hold their breath... ).

Hey I just saw this idea over on WW site...

I like a couscous black bean salad. I add black beans (rinsed), onions, tomatoes, salsa, and seasonings to couscous. I like it cold or warmed.

Hi all. Sorry I've been MIA. The weather has been nice here, and I've been enjoying being out with my family.

I'm also 5'2"...sounds like I'm in good company.

Time for dinner, I'll try to get on tomorrow. It's Spring Break for the kiddos this week.

I noticed our chat thread is getting quite long. Do you all want to start doing weekly chat threads like some had mentioned before or keep doing them like we are?? Just thinking...
