Anyway, I hope that you will be okay there by yourself tomorrow. If I were closer I could come and nurse you back to health. I'm so glad that you are at home though, and I'm sure you are too.
Thanks for asking about the house search. It's all pretty overwhelming. It's hard to know what the right decision is. Hopefully we will be wise! The original house has a pretty unbeatable yard, but the house itself isn't as desireable as some of the others. I guess we're trying to find a happy medium somewhere.

Hi Kathy, sounds like you are in good spririts. Every time I think about what happened to you, I realize how lucky I was. I promise not to complain any more. Are the girls around to help you out? You do deserve to be pampered a whole lot.

Melissa, glad to hear that you and Aaron are going to look at a few houses. This way you have something to compare. It will be fun for you.

I made a prepared turkey roast (Maple Leaf), I'm sure you guys have comperable. It actually wasn't bad. I hope Bernie will like it. I also made sweet potatoes and a salad. He'll eat his later when he comes home.

I agree about that yard. You probably won't find another with a yard that would be so pleasant and calming. Still though, the search is the fun (and usually frustrating) part.

You're so thoughtful to want to come help me. I'm afraid it's going to be a long road. The doctor scared Judd to death by telling him that the bone that the screw goes into is the main bone for blood supply in the foot. Or something like that. And then he told him the bone might die and now Judd's going crazy over it. He feels SO guilty and I've been telling him to stop it. We had been having such a good time and I really should have been holding up at the top handrail instead of the one down by my seat. Looking back, I'm surprised I didn't break that arm when I went out because I was still holding on. Oh well, I had angels looking out for me that day ... we didn't get a ticket even though we were driving 100 mph to get to the hospital, and didn't have to sit in the waiting room at the first hospital, and then bypassed everything at the second hospital and went straight to surgery where it was already all set up since they called ahead from the first hospital. It could have been much worse.

Saundra, you don't have to stop complaining because of ME! Good grief, I just realized that nearly all of us have foot or knee problems all at the same time! We really are a close group, aren't we???

I think the girls will be home in the mornings this week. Kate will leave around noon because she works 2:00 til 11:00 this week. I don't know about Erin; she's in a funky mood. Yesterday morning Judd told her what happened and she didn't tell the other kids. She's not speaking to Shaun because of what happened the other night but she could have at least told Kate. Anyway, I called Shaun and talked to him last night, then he called Kate and told her. She and her friends came up to the hospital around 9 last night. They were laughing at me because I was so bombed out of my mind. Kate didn't think I would remember it but I did. Then one of her friends came over today and brought me some flowers but I was asleep. They're sweet girls.

Kathy, you really are blessed not to have been hurt more than you were. I hope that you are resting and take good care of yourself.

Oh and guess what else? Judd's not letting me go to the Rangers Opening Day next Monday and he also says that he isn't going. I am telling him to just GOOOO but I don't know if I'll be able to convince him. His truck was what we use for the tailgating! There's no reason he should stay home and watch it on TV when he could be there in person having fun. Hopefully he'll come to his senses before Monday. He said he would feel too guilty going when I had to stay home.

Well Kathy I think it's nice that Judd is showing a more sensitive, caring side. Or is it the guilt talking? Just kidding.
I hope that the kids will help you out some. What's gotten into Erin? It seems strange that she didn't even tell Kate about your accident.

That was weird. I was here but saw that my little egg wasn't lit up. Strange.
Well I guess I'm going to get off of here for awhile. I think we are going to watch 24, and I think I'll have some popcorn and coke zero to go with it. I was going to try not to eat, but that is a very low point snack.

kathy - I sure hope you have someone around to help you out? how long will you be home? ....If one of the girls is home til noon at least you won't be alone? Are you able to get around at all? (wheelchair?) Hope the meds are helping...and I am so glad you got immediate medical attention and that you did not break your arm or any of your computer typing fingers!

I also feel terrible for complaining about anything now as it all seems so trivial in comparison to your ordeal.

I do have a supremely bad headache which came on very suddenly at the mall - after I spent $90 on bat mitzvah present for gf's child? Is it coincidental? I think not! How weird is that? Took 2 es tylenol and waiting for them to kick in.

Now our front door lock is on the fritz? and you can't get into the house (how's that for an alarm system?) - luckily big ds was home when dd arrived (and had to ring bell to get in). Dh spent most of the night driving around to hardware stores trying to find two matching locks to get rekeyed - will be working on the door tomorrow!

Ack! You people are NOT complaining!! If you're sick, you're sick so don't stop talking about it because of this! If you don't let up about this, I'll never tell you anything else! Maybe I should have just said I decided to take a mini-vacation and then refuse to tell you what exotic location I went to! LOL!

And of course, a mean lady at my regular dr. office had to yell at me. Remember when someone did that last time and I didn't complain? Well, this time I just might. We had called this morning because we had to let the primary care doctor know about it, and also get them to do a referral. Judd made the appointment with the surgeon, and called Aetna to see if the surgeon is on the approved list of doctors (which he is!) ... we basically did everything for them. We got home from the hospital and there was a message to call this lady, which I did. The first thing she said was "Well, what do you need to be seen for?" (We had left a very detailed message in the first place which she obviously had disregarded or she would have known) and I started to tell her, then she interrupted and said, "Did we see you here first?" and AGAIN I started to tell her, but when my sentence began with "No..." -- I was going to say "No, because I was admitted thru the ER blah blah blah" -- all the things she would have known if she had read the note, then she just practically shouted at me! "Well, hon, in case you don't know this, the way it works is that you HAVE to see the doctor here before we can give you a referral." At that point I was about to lose my cool and so *I* interrupted *HER* and told her a few things. She backed down in a hurry and changed her tune. I think she realized she hadn't even let me get a word in before she went off on me. GRRRR!

When this is all over, I am definitely changing to another practice. I won't have to see him for any of this, but don't want to confuse matters by changing doctors until I'm released by the surgeon.

Good Morning Chicks! You all were quite talkative last night. I'm still very sleepy. I got up at 5:00 to go to the bathroom and the dog started crying. So, I got up. I have to be showered and ready to go by 9:45. This gives me a chance to have a bubble bath to help my cramps. I can tell I'm near menopause because my TOM is like it used to be when I was very, very, young. Very heavy and painful.

Of course, poor, Kath, I'll take my cramps and intestinal discomfort any old day compared to you my dear friend. You are so lucky that you weren't hurt even more than you were with Judd running you over with the cart. I'd feel guilty if I was him too. I went back to reread the story. What a freak and horrible accident. I hope he does go to Opening Day but I understand why he doesn't want to go. He knows you'll feel bad about missing it too. It doesn't surprise me that you got to go straight into treatment. All of our hospitals here use triage.....and I'm sure your injury was at the top of the list probably just below gunshot wounds! It would be really nice if the girls could take off to be with you. I hope Judd is at least giving you peanut butter and jelly so that you don't get food poisoning on top of everything else! Can you even get yourself out of bed by yourself? Geez, you'll probably need physical therapy after this is over. You and Jim will be going through therapy at the same time, I bet. You are way more controlled than I am because I would have lit into that Nurse long before you did. And, I'd have thrown in her face that she didn't bother to listen to the message! We are SO lucky that you have wireless internet so that you can "talk" to us from bed. I hope your fever is gone this morning and that you are feeling less pain. When will they know the status of the blood supply to your bone?

Frouf, I hope your headache went away and that you are locked safe and sound in your house with your new lock! I might have succumbed to the lemon cake too. I love lemon cake or lemon poppyseed muffins. Yum.

Sandra, both feet at one time! How on earth will you walk at all? Man, you are a braver chick than I am. How your experience goes will help me decide if I ever want to have it done. I hope we'll be able to hear from you while you recuperate.

Saundra, you sound as busy as we are these days. We always have lots of things to get done and are thankful that we are retired and have the time to do it.

Melissa, I'm very excited to hear about your house hunting. I wonder why the first one came back on the market? I'd want to know in case there was something weird about the house. You'll make the right decision. No one house is likely to be perfect. Just make your list of what's most important to you and Aaron and try to match as many of them as you can. You can get more selective on the next house as you move up. When will you be going to look at these others?

I'm going to go post a menu for today. I will NOT be having what Kathy's having!

I'm awake and sore. Vickie, I thought the same thing about the laptop and wireless internet. I would be totally lost if I couldn't have my computer!

I guess I'm sore from the fall but I think my ribs are sore from sitting up. It feels like I've been doing sit-ups. The fever is back up a little this morning so I have to watch that in case it goes higher. We can't figure out why I even have it though since I was getting IV antibiotics every 3 hours.

I had two pieces of toast and I told Judd not to worry about making a sandwich right now. Hopefully one of the kids will appear around lunchtime and can make me something. I realized that if there was a sandwich sitting here and I fell asleep, Bindy would eat it. She's already eyeing my peanut M&Ms.

Vickie, what appointment do you have this morning? Is it for you or Jim? I tried to go back and look but couldn't find anything. I hope it goes well anyway.

Well thank god for the laptop and wireless internet - you can bet if you didn't have that we would have all taken up a collection and ensured you got one so you could be in touch and keep yourself amused and busy! Is there anything else you would do to keep yourself occupied? I love to read! but I guess I might even get bored of that? (is that possible?)

My headache did let up enuf - read a bit and went to bed around 11:30 and had a heck of a time getting up this morning - very groggy. Dh told me he was up at 2 am swallowing Tums as he did not feel well - I knew he did not really have dinner as he was running around between hardware stores so I asked him what he had eaten: Well he ate around 1/2 of the 1 lb chocolate bunny I had brought him from the grocery store, then some chocolate milk while on his 'rounds', then some bbq chips when he got home - hmm - it is a wonder he wasn't doing well? Hope he has learned a lesson from this. (and he was surprised when the scale was up this morning too!).

Speaking of food - I think a pb & jelly sandwich left by your side Kathy is a great idea - and you just need to store in a tightly sealed tupperware/plastic sandwich type container so darling Bindy will keep out! Even if someone is there to fix you lunch/snacks at least you have something to nibble on if you're hungry? (maybe a juice box or two as well?).

I am at work but certainly not feeling very productive today - have stuff to finish off tho. And dh now says he may not be able to leave friday for Toronto as he needs to finish up some reports - so we might go sat instead - I will book 2 nights hotel and cancel I guess if required.

Sounds like a busy morning out there. Bernie is running and I'm sitting. I really want to go back to Curves, but I'm not motivated enough, and know that I won't be able to do anything that involves right foot.

Kathy, did you sleep last night? Is there anyone you can call if the lunch fairies don't show up? I know what it's like to be in bed alone, and hope you are doing okay. How about potty, can you go yourself? Just asking....

Vickie, I was so glad when TOM left me. It seems like forever now. That's the one part of the aging process I didn't mind. Hope your cramps ease off. For some reason, bubble baths seems to irritate my privates lately. Maybe that is also an aging thing, who knows.

Frouf, is this weekend the Bat Mitzvah? What was the gift? Bernie is off, and I suggested going to see my sis in TO, but he doesn't feel like driving that far. We'll just have a quiet one here, which is a good thing.
