Morning Chickies,
Im guessing everyone is busy busy busy today. Im making some homemade soup for those of you not feeling well....can you smell it?? its turkey noodle. My Dd's request , how could I say no. I'll count the points for the noodles.

Kathy I so glad to hear your son is ok...did you find out what would catch on fire in the backseat ?? holy cow... I know you and your Dh are on the outs now,,but after be married for almost 22 years here, there is one thing I have learned..its ok to disagree. Hope you have a nice time with your family today...

Vickie, have you figured out any foods that trigger your pain yet??

Melissa when I first read your post,,I thought you were trying to quit smoking too, but realize I prob read that wrong.

My snacking has been getting a little too much lately too,,I was doing so well at night but slowly I have been telling myself ,,oh its ok to have just a handful of crackers ,,which leads to more, tehn cheese, then a pear, then a banana.......I need to find something to do at night now that volleyball is over till the new year. I had my first gain in 4 weeks this week,,while Im proud of that losing streak I wasnt happy on the scale this morning.

Sandra, good thinking on taking the SF bar with you. Ive tried the peanut crunch?? ones,,,they were just like a choc bar for me...defintely *red light* food.
Well its another day of baking here..Im making some finnish bread for gifts, then some last minute shopping that I really dont need to do but I feel like I should. Im ready for christmas, but if I dont have some things to do this week I would be lost. My youngest Dd made it home on wed,,,shes been keeping it low key, her friends havnt made it home yet but once they do, I know she'll be gone! haha She looks great and is an inspiration to me..we started this together and she has done much much better then me.....
ok I wrote a book here...sorry.. I better go check on my bread.
have a great weekend everyone!

Patti, it sounds like you are a busy beaver right now. Good luck with your snacking problem, that is my problem too. I was hoping doing SF for a couple of weeks would help with that, since I am only allotted one snack each evening, but so far I haven't done too well with that. Your cooking sounds great and I would love to have some soup! Have fun with your daughter.

Well I'm just laying around shopping on the net. I found the cutest bucket purse and wallet that have horses on them for my mom, but I am afraid that they won't get here by Saturday! It says 2-3 day shipping but I'm worried that with the holidays it won't really get here that quickly. Maybe I'll email the store and ask.

Sandra, it sounds like you did well. I'm going to check out your menu. Kathy's dealing with all of her family, I'm sure. I think she said they were supposed to arrive at 10am. I'm glad that you're going to put up a tree. Makes me feel better. Have fun!

Im glad you got a tree too Sandra,,,,, those pre-lit ones are so nice!! My next one will be one for sure. I was going to make turkey noodle soup,,and had a brain wave...she loves barley so I made turkey barley and its all core,,,and soooooooo good. We keep sneaking spoonfuls of it when we walk by..haha
I found a recipe for Core buffalo *wings* that I would like to make sometime during christmas, for a treat. Made with chicken breasts, instead of wings..the rest of the recipe was pretty close to the one I use for wings. Cant wait to try it now, with twice baked potatos. Dosnt that sound yummy! and like a healthy treat!!
The bread is calling I better go check it....

I lived over it! Now they're all gone and I can breathe again.

This morning I got up at 7 and started cleaning touch-ups, went to the store to get a few more things, and then to Starbucks for something for my brother/SIL. I got them two mugs and some Christmas Blend coffee. SIL doesn't drink coffee but she can use it for cocoa. My aunt Yvonne (from the assisted living place) came over too, so I got her a jar candle and a warmer that you sit it on. They aren't allowed to burn candles at the AL place because old people and flames just don't mix well ... so this will be great! She was so excited about it.

We were getting ready to eat and Judd decided we would eat in the dining room. He spent the rest of the afternoon apologizing for "hijacking" my plans ... whatever that means. I said no big deal, it just took some quick last minute shuffling. We used the everyday Christmas dishes but I decided to get the Gorham sterling out, so at least we had something nice. Anyway, the steaks and baked potatoes, broccoli, salad, and rolls were a nice switch from turkey and dressing. Everybody liked it.

My aunt would love to take Precious home with her but that's not going to happen! We said that pretty soon, we would take her over for a few hours and let my aunt babysit her while we go to a movie or something.

My mom brought Shaun some burn cream that has silver in it; supposed to be really good stuff. My dad took him to get a haircut. Did I tell you he talked to the new boss yesterday, and the guy's coming to pick him up Monday morning? He lives in Rockwall on the other side of Dallas, so this is a pretty good hike for him to drive here. He also told Shaun that they were trying to get away from letting employees drive the company vehicles home, but that they could probably work around it. Shaun said he got a ticket for failure to maintain something or another ... he'll need to take defensive driving to keep it off his record.

Scale was a little over 151 this morning. I don't know what in ****'s bathroom is going on, but I'm mighty upset about it.

MIL/FIL are coming over tomorrow evening so we can have Christmas with them. Judd doesn't want to open gifts though; wants to save them until Christmas or otherwise we won't have anything to open. I think we're going to dinner with them too. Judd is suggesting a japanese hibachi place. I really don't like that and would rather go to Carinos or somewhere like that but I guess we'll see what happens.

Gotta go read more. I'll BBL.

Sandra, to be honest I am probably feeling worse. Thanks for asking. I just woke up not that long ago from a nap. DH is out getting some supper. I need to go make a salad. I'm glad that you put your Christmas goodies up. Curtis is probably right. You are doing great.

Kathy, I'm so glad that you survived! For some reason I thought that they were staying overnight. It sounds like Judd was apologizing for more than messing up the dinner plans. Anyway, it sounds like you had a good time, and I'm glad. Oh and that's great news about Shaun's boss. Maybe he will be a person who can help Shaun through to the next step in his life.

I've gotta go make that salad. I'll be back later!

Unhappy

Well Kathy - glad to hear your day went well - and that Judd was 'behaving'. Good news for Shaun about the job - hope it works out for him!

Sandra - you definitely get an "attagirl" - good for you for hanging in there.

Vickie - hope you had a wonderful party day!

Melissa - how is the shopping going? Hope all the presents arrive in time! Sending "recuperative" wishes on you avoiding a sinus infection - not fun - and it does sound like you have a busy week!

Patti - love the idea of turkey barley soup - how yummy!

I am having a very bad day again- and I am getting fed up with this! Woke up with yet another headache - combined w/some shoulder pain which leads me to believe I may have slept on it - and this caused some of the pain?

Forced myself up and to the shower and out to synagogue to say that special prayer for the upcoming anniversary of my mom's passing! I did not stay after the service to socialize (and was also able to avoid the table of cakes and cookies this way!).

Got home, took another 2 advil - not much relief - had lunch - lay down - still in pain - 1 es tylenol - some more rest - another es tylenol around 5 pm and I am feeling a bit better - not in excruciating pain - just a dull ache. Just had some dinner and I hope that will help me feel better. (It still hurts when I bend my next to the left!).

So obviously not much got done today - altho dh and I did sit and do some thinking on xmas gifts for his family ...and it's his sister's bday on Monday so need to pick up something "extra" for her as well.

I am also feeling badly as I stepped on the scale this morning and it isn't pretty - I have no one to blame but myself of course - but all that struggling and now I have to do it all over again - when will I learn?

Tried hard today to stay in control - even if not entirely core. I am trying the "one meal at a time" method - and committing to making good choices at each meal. I just don't feel like cooking or preparing food or anything - and of course this doesn't work well with core eating.

Now dh wants to go to a movie tonight and I am wondering if I can manage that? King Kong no less - 3 hours long and probably very loud and noisy? At least big ds will be home soon as well as dd to watch our little guy!

Also had a run in w/dd at around 1 am yesterday morning - she was on the computer - and I noticed she is STILL on these nasty sites where she has posted her profile and picture (at least she has sense not to use her real name or location), but I sure DISAPPROVE of the sites and what she is doing and asked her to remove her profiles - she of course is very obstinant and needs lots of explanations - which I provided to her - but she feels I am "stifling her creativity" and it took her a lot of time and effort to create her pages - so this went on for a while. Basically the bottom line is I am her mother and I don't want her doing these things - at least not at 14 - so she is off the computer INDEFINITELY until she removes her profiles from these sites! Am I wrong? Is it just because she is different and not like the rest of us that I am doing this? I know I can't force her to be what she is not - but maybe this is my feeble attempt at doing so?

Will need to definitely bring this up at next therapist appt.! Meanwhile she is not to happy with me to say the least!

As for the cruise - dh finally agreed - almost just to accompany me - and I am now changing my mind - ha ha ha. First of all mr. spoiled brat will only go in a balcony cabin - and it seems they are all sold out for that date - and his point is how we can even contemplate going on a cruise when he is unemployed? Granted he is getting a small contract and I do have my inheritance $$ but shouldn't we be saving it for a rainy day? rather than spending it on a vacation? So now I am feeling guilty as well - wondering what would people think? Here we are trying to economize on xmas gifts and being frugal - and next thing you know we're cruising the Caribbean?

Tough call on the cruise, Frouf, so I'll just jump in quickly with one word -- don't do it. Okay that was 3 words. What I mean is, IMO, don't spring for the more expensive cabin. We were RARELY in our room and knew we wouldn't be. We got the absolute bottom of the line, complete with bunk beds and all. And as it turns out, we were in there long enough to change clothes and sleep for 3-4 hours. That was IT! I was way happier spending all the time up on deck doing things.

DD needs to (one day) realize that she's a child and dependent on you. That's a hard thing to swallow for some.

Okay, I gotta go now because they're yelling at me, but I'll be back. Meanwhile, hang in there.

Frouf, I'm so sorry that you have been feeling bad and in pain today. I hope that you and DH went to a movie and had a wonderful time. If not, I hope you are getting lots of rest, anyway! And Kathy's right, even though it may not help right now...one day DD will realize her place and your love for her.

Well I'm off to bed. Should've gone a long time ago but the nap today threw me off. I'm hoping to feel well enough to go to church in the morning, especially with all of the Christmas things going on. I'll talk to you all in the morning.
