  • Afternoon Chickies!!
Glad to hear your little one is getting better Angela,,the miracle of antibiotics!
Kathy your shortbread recipe is alot like mine. I havent made mine yet,,Im still debating on that one. It dosnt seem like christmas without them but Im always left with so many after christmas., that I give them away.
Ok I have a queens crown at work,,(I work with little kids) so can I join you Kathy and Frouf!!
Ok frouf that is too funny about the little gifts going around the office...haha.
I can't believe its actually happening to me this week.....I collect nutcrackers and I have 3 large ones in my porch. Well last night Dh found a small present laid in front of them. I asked him where it came from. He told me he thought it fell off a nutcracker?? It didnt...it was an actual gift. There was no name on it..to or from anyone. Well, of course Dd and I opened it to see what it was...thinking maybe it was a joke gift. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a small nutcracker cheese knife. I was so surprised. I knew it was for me but didnt have a clue where it could be from. I went to work today and when I came home there was ANOTHER small gift in front of the nutcrackers..haha this time it was a small ornament for my tree.......I cant believe this is happening. Its soooooooo much fun!! Not to sound greedy but I hope there is more,, cuz its sure bringing out the kid in me! haha I have a couple of good friends who could be doing it or my boss, or even my Dh (he loves to play jokes) I cant wait to see what happens next. So Frouf what you do for your co-workers..I bet they love it...I sure do.
    Have a great day everyone!
  • kathy, you are our glamour girl for sure. enjoy your day.

vickie, i am late getting here so i'm guessing you had a grand time with your sister/bil.

angela, i hope dd is feeling better.

frouf, what a hoot! i don't think the world is ready to see me streaking around the house. congratulations on being down almost 4 lbs. don't you feel great? even perkier i imagine.

patti, what fun!!!!!! let us know what happens next. it's sounding like a gift a day till christmas.

    melissa, where are you?

i'm off to the store now to get week 2's sf supplies. life is good.
  • Home now! I went to the doctor and he said, yep, you're getting sick. Gave me a Rx for something so it wouldn't go further. He also marked and measured the leg lump and said let's watch it for a month. If it's still there, it's coming out. He said hopefully it was from getting a hit on the leg, but I know it wasn't. I'm such a bruiser since I take the daily aspirin and there has never been a bruise there. It measured 15x15mm so not that big, but he said it definitely should come out if it's still there in a month. I made an appointment for Jan. 30 to follow up on it.

Tonight all I'm doing is making dinner for the kids (roast, potatoes, carrots) and Judd is having LO -- finishing a crocheted scarf (traditional kind, not my invention scarflet), making a list for the holiday chores, and finding clothes for work tomorrow. Oh and I have to go back to Kroger to pick up my prescriptions. I'd like to get to work early because I have to work 11 hours tomorrow since I left early today to go to the dr. Sigh ... there's just no way to get caught up, is there?

Boa boss also gave me a gift set of Bigelow Lemon Body Creme, Lip Balm, and Hand Lotion. It's in a cute tin.

Tomorrow's the last day to work until Jan. 3 -- I'm going to make cookies on Thursday for neighbors and neighborhood bar/vet, and Friday I *might* go have a body wrap. Still debating on that, because I also need to get highlights/lowlights refreshed too. Judd is going downtown Dallas with his friends on Friday so I'll be all alone! Yesssssss!

    Happy day to all!
  • kathy, you keep us posted on that lump. i'm glad you have another appointment for followup. what are spoon dipped cookies? just wondering. don't work too hard tomorrow and enjoy your time off.

i'm still doing great with sf. life is good.
  • No, girlie, not cookies. Just the spoons that are dipped in chocolate. They are so good stirred in coffee. I usually get plastic spoons, dip them in either melted chocolate or almond bark, and then wrap in cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Everybody loves them.
  • Hey guys, I just wanted to say hi. It's been a long day and I'm exhausted. I've actually been asleep on the couch for awhile. I'm going to get ready for tomorrow and get to bed. Also have to finish my application for school before going to bed. So good night!
  • Good night, Melissa! I hope you get some rest.

I just looked up the side effects to the medicine that I got tonight. Insomnia. Great! And that's AFTER I took one this close to bedtime! Guess who'll be playing around on the computer all night -- because Judd has promised me he's sleeping on the couch so that he won't get sick. I swear, these men are such babies.

The other Rx was for more Diovan. I haven't received my mail-order Aetna Rx yet (3 month supply) and have been out for a few weeks. BP was already up to 130/103 and the doctor was NOT pleased. He wrote out a script and said get it filled tonight. YES, SIR!
  • Hey kathy - good luck w/the meds - hope you are not up all night! My gf used to make those dipped spoons as gifts - so yummy in coffee!

Patti - sounds like you have lots of secret santas at your place - the more the merrier I always say! I always have fun with my "from Santa" gifts - but obviously someone has stolen my idea this year? hmmm - I still need to go get my presents - wondering if I should not do the starbucks cards this year - that will really throw them off! Any ideas?

Melissa - hope you are getting all the rest you need (speaking of which I have an 8:30 am meeting so should be in bed pretty soon too!).

Got my nails done after work - and then rushed home to EAT as I was starving. Happy to report that I did not overdo it - altho I did have an unscheduled appetizer (smoked salmon w/cucumber sices and diet pepsi) to tide me over til dinner was ready (broiled rainbow trout, baked potato and asparagus, and blueberries/strawberries w/yogurt for dessert!).

Then I even had the DISCIPLINE at 9 pm to get on the treadmill for 35 mins (1.75 miles at 3.2 mph at 1%) - I was feeling it in my hips a bit - and my not do this tomorrow if I am sore! I guess I don't want to get overzealous and be in pain!

No lunch packed for tomorrow as we are going to the russian restaurant for manager's bday celebration (her bday is actually on the 25th!!). Planning for the cabbage rolls - but will see if anything else looks core-friendly when I'm there!

    Nitey night!

    Frouf
  • Hi Chickies! Here I am at 1:20. I guess now I'm having my side effects and Kathy's insomnia.

I had gone to bed at 10:15 and just woke up from having anxiety about my situation which is NOT conducive to normal functioning of the body if you get my drift. I feel so out of touch with all of you.

Frouf, what about movie theater gift certificates? I'm very proud of your exercise and diet efforts. I just know you are going to be successful.

Kathy, I'm glad you are being vigilant about your leg and your blood pressure. Our health is nothing to mess with.

Sandra and Melissa, keep up your good work on SF.

I'm off to surf for a while to see if I can distract myself or make myself tired enough to go back to bed. I've a big day ahead of me tomorrow.
  • Well, it's 3:00 and I feel a little tired although still uncomfortable. Hope you are all in dreamland. I'm going to try to go back to sleep.
  • Well aren't I pathetic? It's 4:27 and I'm still here. I've looked at everything I can possibly look at and I still feel like garbage. Jim has already come to check on me and gone back to bed. I'm going to finish the water he brought me and try to go to sleep.

Light and love to you all.
  • Vickie, I hope by now you're sound asleep. That's a miserable feeling to be tired but not sleepy.

Judd did more Christmas cards last night that I'm sending now, but I need to add his addresses to my big master list. It's a little late to be sending them, but whatever!!

I'm ready for this day to be over.
  • Good morning everyone! Vickie, I hope you're still sleeping.

So today's the first official day of winter, huh? I think it's been winter for over a month here already.

We finally got our gas bill for last month...$159...that's not too bad actually, considering that it's been quite a bit colder this year.

Hope everybody has a good, relaxing day...

    Angela

  • Vickie, we love you and are just hoping and praying that you feel better soon. I wish that we could come and help lift your spirits in person.

Kathy, you sound so stressed! Take care of yourself today. A body wrap sounds so neat. Of course you will have to give full report if you do it.

Angela, glad that your dd is feeling better. What a bill! I can't imagine. I'm so glad that we don't have gas. We are house shopping and if it has gas we are just kind of looking over it, at least for now.

Frouf, you are doing so great!! I'm very encouraged by your discipline.

Sandra, you too gf. I'm trying to catch you now, you are flying past me!

Well girls you just won't believe what happened this morning...the car wouldn't start!!!! It has been having trouble starting recently but we thought it was just the cold...apparently not. The only reason I'm not completely freaking out is because we bought a warranty that SHOULD cover every red cent of it. So hopefully we won't have any problems.
We are having "crafting parties" for the clients at work today so I am stuck here until probably 7 or 8. Not looking forward to it. AND in all the chaos I forgot my dinner. So I'll be scrounging here (and not in the fried chicken--yuck!).
OK better get to work. I was a half hour late due to the car situation. Hope everyone has a beautiful, wonderfully winter day!
  • Poor Vickie - hope you are fast asleep now and catching up on your much needed sleep - things always look better when you're rested!

Kathy - I also hope you got some good rest and definitely go and splurge on yourself - you deserve it!

Melissa - sorry you forgot your dinner - good luck in finding something suitable and staying out of the fried chicken.

I of course went to bed very late - up early to get to work for meetings - and also COMPLETED my floor exercises (which only really takes 5 minutes).

Now off to lunch - yippee! But I was able to avoid the GORGEOUS chocolate and white checkerboard cake currently residing in our office kitchen! I didn't even walk to close to it so I could avoid the smell!

Wondering still about the probability of getting on the cruise - so I am still researching land holidays - found a good deal to a very nice property on the Mayan Riviera - beginning of january - might try to convince dh to do this instead?

Lots of snow here today by the way - it's beginning to look a lot like christmas......la la la la la
