viv, congratulations on the great weightloss. that's fantastic!

linda, i wish you success. you know we're all behind you 100% and want you happy and healthy.

cindy, i eat a lot of popcorn, fruit salad (made with sf/ff van pudding mix), fruit, pudding, and smoothies. you might try the cheese crackers that vickie posted. i'm going to give them a go soon.

frouf, how was wi? you're right slow and steady is best. i hate that slow part, too. i'm not getting much exercise now and know i should cut my caloric intake. but i just haven't chosen to do so yet.

vickie, sounds like you have a full day ahead.

angela, you'll definitely tone up with all that gardening. you remind me of the little red hen. i'll bet lots of folks will want goodies from your garden after you've done all the work.

kathy, i need to go chug some water now. you've reminded me. thank you.

melissa, what an adventure you had! i'll bet you earn aps for that. i did get some walking in today at the tournament. my feet are paying for it now, though. i don't know if i'll go back tomorrow or not. your dinner sounds good. enjoy!

welcome, andrea, it's good to have you here.

we walked one loop of the tournament today. you're actually supposed to do 2 loops a day, but 1 was all we could manage. the grands had a good time. grandpa and i are exhausted now and are waiting on them to go home. i know that doesn't sound nice but that's the way it is. it's nice having grands so you can send them home when you get tired.

I'm back inside now trying to cool off. I got all the flowers planted and some caladiums too. Looks nice but hoo-boy, it's hot out there! Now I feel a little more sorry for DH, who has been in the garage all day long. I probably smell, but he smells worse. He mentioned a movie tonight but by the time he's done for the day, it might be too late and he's probably going to be really tired.

Tomorrow night we're taking his parents to dinner for Father's Day. What's everybody else doing? Big plans??

Can't keep up with you guys so I am making a quick post to let you all know I am still alive, but don't have time to read everything.
I blew it tonight, went out to dinner to a "smokehouse" and had ribs and all the extras, even a beer. Time to get back in control tomorrow. IT was good, but my stomach is making me pay dues right now. Sure wish I had more sense with what I ordered.
Why does the "good" tasting food make me feel bad emotionally and physically? Core food truly does make me feel better all the way around. I won't beat myself up over this giant step backwards, but I will learn as I go perhaps?
Happy Saturday to all!

Kathy, for Father's Day my sister and I put together a big BBQ party thingy at my house. We're inviting all my brothers and sisters, their spouses, my dad, my sister's FIL, etc etc. Big group of family. We're grilling (I got turkey brats for me and Mom - I'll let you all know how they taste), fruit salad, chips, potato salad, chocolate silk torte (for the guys, not me!). It should be fun. My house is good for a party, as it is a very open floor plan. Plus we have the whole house sound system where you play something in one central location, and it can play on speakers all throughout the house and out on the deck.

For the gift for husbands/dad, my sisters and I are going to sing a song my sister wrote called "Everyday Hero." I'm going to attempt to accompany us on guitar. We'll see if my 4 months of lessons have taught me anything. The song is really nice - it's about how everyday actions and devotion to duty make a hero, and they make a real man. Anyway, we'll see if I can get through it without puking from nerves or bawling my eyes out.

Well, dh needs help cleaning out the gutters. Guess I'd better help him so he doesn't break his neck.

Later!
Angela

No way, Angela! That is an awesome gift -- just perfectly awesome!! You'll do fine; remember it's your family and they love you! Picture them all sitting there naked and you'll probably have to fight to keep from laughing out loud (at most of them, I imagine)!!

kathy, sounds like you got a lot done. i don't guess caladiums grow up here. i never see any. we'll probably go back to the tournament tomorrow and celebrate father's day there. this is "the bear shoot". it's the largest 3d tournament in the northwest. it's always scheduled on father's day weekend. sort of a tradition up here.

lindanh, you're wise not to beat yourself up. i have been wanting some ribs for awhile now. i like to eat pickles and onions with them. maybe some lightbread, too. that's all i need with them.

andrea, i'm pretty old and don't lose weight very easily. i have problems losing even staying on core 24/7. sometimes i get frustrated and just want to throw everything out the door. today's almost one of those days.

angela, your plans sound like fun. enjoy your day and don't worry about the guitar playing. you'll do great.

Hey, girl, how are those feet holding up? Are you able to stay off of them tonight and rest? I haven't had caladiums in a long time but had a few empty spots in the flowerbed and thought that might be a nice thing to add in. I think tomorrow morning I'll go to Home Depot and get a little more of something just for added oomph.

I have some chicken out that MUST be cooked tomorrow, so I'm going to grill it at lunch along with some brats. We can use the leftovers for lunches next week at work, because tomorrow night we won't be home. We're going to some new Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth that I never heard of -- so hopefully I can stick to my plan of chicken fajitas with no tortillas or chips. Today I was so proud of myself! No beer, no coke, no nuttin' that wasn't on my plan. We got Chili's takeout and I had the Guiltless Grill Chicken Platter, but just ate the chicken breast and broccoli. Gave DD my rice and wrapped the corn on the cob up for someone else to eat. And I've had way more water than I should. Result? My end of day weight is the same as my morning weight, and that's with three regular meals, a lot of water, a diet A&W root beer and some coffee with low-carb creamer. Hopefully I can start to see a downward trend very soon.

kathy, sounds like you're focused. congrats on drinking all that water. i've been drinking too many caffeine free diet cokes lately. i need to up my water intake.

thanks for asking about my feet. they actually survived today better than i'd expected. my left foot feels like i have a big bruise on its heel but that's about it. we walked the easiest course today. we left the mountain climbing to the other folks. tomorrow if we go, we'll walk the other "flat" (if there is any such thing in montana) course. this tournament has 4 twenty target courses. two are sort of flat and the other 2 are really steep and rugged. we won't do the rugged ones this year but have done them in the past.

what mexican restaurant are you talking about? is it in ft worth or arlington? just wondering and missing texas.

It's in Fort Worth and I guess it's new? DH said he thinks it's Rio Mambo, and if so, I found this website.

http://www.parkcentralhotel.com/riomambos.asp

Apparently MIL/FIL just found it recently and really like it. Now I have to look over the menu, hope that's the place and find what I'll have so I'm armed and dangerous when I get there.

I hope your feet do okay tomorrow.

I think I could have this one and add guacamole to it:

Chipotle Chicken -- Grilled breast of chicken marinated and topped with a spicy Chipotle salsa, monterrey jack cheese and slices of fresh avocado. Served with rice and bean soup.

I'm sure someone will take the rice and bean soup off my hands.
