Anyone still running out there?

I did W4D1 yesterday. I had a terrible night before that (been up a lot with the girls) and quite exhausting day, and it was also raining all the time I run. So, it was not easy, and I run really slow, but I run, and I finished.

My first reward is approaching, I promised myself before I started the program, that if I don't give up and complete first four weeks, I'd buy proper running shoes, and now I'm also thinking about a proper running outfit, as I run in my old sweat suit and I look quite funny. Hm....

Started this today during my lunch hour. I had brought some running shoes and gym clothes and just went for it. Let me tell you, I can feel it in the legs! I have a question though.. should I have started just walking for a week before starting this? My legs feel VERY numb and I probably won't be able to walk for two days by the feel of things.

I keep falling off and getting back on the couch to 5k wagon. I fell off during week one, completely skipped week two, and now I am doing week three like it's nobody's business.

Running for 3 minutes twice within a 28 minute span is not something my flabby body is used to. I may have shocked myself.

Sophie I had the exactly same problem in my W1. Someone told me it passes soon and it really did, I don't remember any soreness from week 2 on. Just make sure you stretch before and after run, you can also run little slower if it helps!

I did W2D2 today. It was much easier than D1. Instead of jogging for 5 minutes at the end, I jogged for 10 and I still felt I could continue if I wanted to. Granted, I really jog slowly. But still, I'm proud of the progress I'm making!

Ok, thanks Ronja! Do you guys go walking in between days or just do the walking/jogging 3x a week?

I haven't been on this thread for a while. I completed W4D2 today. Not bad considering I haven't had much exercise this week. I hope to do D3 by the end of this week.

Congrats, DrivenByAmbition for successfully completing the program.

Good morning! I'd like to join this thread. I did W4D1 yesterday. This is my 3rd trip through C25K. I did it the summer of 2010 and 4 days after my first organized 5k, my husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I did it again last summer (I started the week after my husband died and it really helped me to stave off the depression that was threatening) and then ran an organized 5k on what turned out to be a torn meniscus.

I finally got the surgery to repair my knee in February and am finally able to resume running.

@Sophie. It depends on how active you've been. You don't want to dive full fledged into any fitness program because you'll burn yourself out. This time through, I'd been going to a kickboxing fitness class 2x per week and a weekend bootcamp 1x per week for 3 weeks before starting C25K and I just ran on the days I wasn't doing the other classes. If all you're doing is C25K, you may want to just focus on that 3x per week for the first 2-3 weeks, then add in something else on your non-running days leaving a rest day in your schedule.

I think that's what I'll do. Thanks
Did another day yesterday. Went better than the first time so pretty excited about that. I finally figured out how to put music in the background of the Couch-2-5K app on my phone. REALLY handy!

I started W1D1 today!! I am so happy that I found this app, it is just what I need! Are you guys finding that it has helped you drop weight? I can't wait to get back into shape. This is going to be fabulous!

I started C25K because my husband was doing it and dropping lbs like crazy. Men! I'm on W4D2 and loving it, but watching him lap me on week 8 is slightly intimidating. I can do that, too......right?

swanz...

YOU CAN DO IT!!! I say as long as you are enjoying it, don't worry about what your hubster is doing. I'm sure you would lap me in a second!

Hey Everyone! Well... I had a rough month. The week after Mother's day was the last time I ran at all ... My goal was to attempt a 5k this past weekend, but that did not happen.

But I finally did get back to it this week. I kept going where I left off, with W5D1. And I was able to do it!!! I am so thrilled that I didn't totally blow it. It felt really good to be running again, and I am excited to keep training

I am so thrilled to hear you are on Week 4, Ronja! Your reward for yourself sounds like such a good idea! And congrats on finishing, DrivenbyAmbition!! I missed so much!! Glad to be back, though!!

I started this program today.

I Spin 3x a week but running has always been difficult for me, so I'm going to Spin Monday, Wednesday and Friday and do C25K Tues, Thurs and Saturday.

The first day was a challenge. I took my puppy with me, which I probably won't be able to continue doing because she was more interested in playing. I used a podcast that I downloaded to keep track of the times.

I'm looking forward to trying it again on Saturday!

Morning! I'm running along. I completed W5D1 this morning and felt great, but now I'm ready for a nap.

On Sunday I'll run W5D2 with my 11 year old niece. She seems to think she wants to run races with me, but I want her to get a taste of what running means before I pay to register her for the 5k I intend to run at the end of July. I think two 8 minute runs with 5 minute walk between will give her a pretty good taste. If she likes it, I'll leave her with the assignment to run for 20 minutes at the school behind her house on Tuesday.

I hope she likes it and wants to run with me. I wish I'd found a sport I loved when I was younger that kept me fit and active. She's already a reader like her mom and me, but I don't want her to be a lazy reader like I was for so long and like her mom still is.
