Has anyone else gone throught the thought process that they will never be able to enjoy the foods they once enjoyed?

I kinda came to the conclusion that I would not be able to have pizza, ice cream, olive garden and the likes again because I would just fall right back into the pattern of eating like before. My husband said well as long as you have it maybe once or twice a year you could have it. I thought about it and really it just came down to it probably is better for me to avoid it period than to tempt myself and fall down that same rabbit hole.

Anyone else have those feelings and thoughts?

Bad weekend here. Family wedding, my birthday, family issues that cannot be resolved....ate off program. Up much of the night feeling horrible from poor food choices. The sad part is the food did not satisfy so it was not even worth the pain later. Back on program-more resolve to do well. Still want to be minus 35 by end of September-No more cheating!

I probably should just decide never to buy pizza again because I'm alone and I can eat a whole one all by myself. AND I DO! So embarrassing to admit.

In fact, the reason why I bloated up so huge in just a few months from March to July was because I would stroll through the grocery store, buy a pizza (they are always on sale on Fridays it seems) and a small container of Ben and Jerrys (preferably cookie dough icecream) and EAT THEM ALL before bed. So embarrassing. Yes I'm a pig.

I am a whole pizza eater as well....hence why I think I need to avoid those types of food. I don't think I could just have one slice of pizza. I know I'll eat two...and then two will lead into three and they cycle continues. My husband and I have been splitting a pizza but then we get wings and breadsticks. Again stuff to avoid. I feel your pain.

Good morning everyone.
Sorry for those of you that had struggles over the weekend but it sounds like everyone made it ok.
Coliep, sorry to hear about your accident, sounds like you got it of it ok considering. Biek wrecks can be bad pretty easily.
Heather, good job on staying strong this weekend, hopefully things are looking a little better on your front.

Welcome to the new people of this thread.
Had a weekend with a lot of temptations as well, up at my little family gathering they had a lot of goodies, including my aunt's wonderful toll-house cookies.
She is the one that always makes the cookies that always stay soft.
They smelled great while she was making them. But we both stayed OP.
Did 6 miles at the track on Friday night and another 5 last night.
Sounds like it's going to be a more regular thing now.
Well time for my morning meeting, everyone have a great day.

We are almost to 500 posts again and in danger of being shut down, so I have started a new thread for our group again.
See you all over there.

Blue Dolphin . .

Well before IP, I discovered that I have some trigger foods (and yes, pizza is one of them) that I now just avoid. For me, pizza is just not that filling and I really just like the toppings and not the crust so I can easily take down 1/2 a pizza. Nutritionally, it is not worth it so I really just don't eat it. I also don't buy regular ice cream. I love ice cream and certainly don't eat just 1/2 cup at a serving so my compromise was to buy the slow churn because then I can have more. I go through phases with peanut butter (and it so happens it has been my biggest IP struggle/cheat) and when I go through those phases I typically keep it out of the house (it is weird, I don't always crave it or want it). I also just completely avoid chips and other nutritionally devoid foods.

There are some things that just aren't worth putting in your mouth, IMO - these include most fried things (except french fries and the occassional fried shrimp), mayonaise etc.

i think deciding you won't eat those things is a lifestyle change necessary for success on ANY diet / eating plan - we need to eat for life =)

Take heart..you and i are the same..I would do the exact same thing..buy a frozen pizza and a tub of ben and jerrys in the same flavour(cookie dough) and eat it in front of the tv all night long..i too WAS a pig..but im not anymore..cause i am learning to control my food issues.
